I am on the sprint network and have a samsung transform. When i go into roaming where i work, my phone shows that i have full service in roaming. I try to make a phone call it says connecting and then is followed by the screen like i hungup on the person. I try to send a txt and i get error code 97. I had a lg lotus dumb phone and it worked in the exact same area. I contact sprint and they read off the script of basic troubleshooting and then after all of that I got my intercept replaced 3x and then they gave me the transform. I called yesterday and they sent me to the exelations department and told me the phones are designed to do this and that there is nothing they can do for me. Please if anyone knows how to get my phone to work in these areas help... I thought about buying roam control to force my phone into roaming but if i cant call or txt why would i do this? Unless the app would force me on a different tower maybe. It is a very rural area lots of cows and no 3g lol but i should be able to use simple call and txt features right?

I'm having issues with my Touch Pro on a T-Mobile US account. It fails to send texts alot, and I get that "Message was not sent. Try again?" prompt.
Does anyone know why this is happening, or a possible solution?

Knock on wood I have not had the issue with T-Mobile USA so far. Try a soft reset?
I've tried a soft-reset. This problem seems intermitent and I can't seem to sort it out. It was like this out of the box but then seemed to start working so I disregarded it but now it's doing it again.
i dont have the touch pro (yet) but i have the same problem with my touch cruise. It is most likely since we are only on Edge which doesnt have enough bandwidth for SMS, data, and phone. So when data is connected i have times when this problem occurs. I did find a work around though that is easier than soft resetting.
Send the SMS, if you dont get the alert message saying its been sent within like 5~10 secs I will use the phone to call someone (i call my voicemail).
After about 10~30 seconds i get the alert telling me my message was sent.
Annoying yes but better than a soft reset each time
i just got my touch pro and also use t mobile in san francisco. so far no problems with txt or voice calls.

Same problem here but in the Netherlands using T-Mobile. After this problem occurred I tried searching the internet but didn't found a solution. After about 30 minutes I tried it again and it worked
It could be having some sort of connection issues, might try having T-Mo verify the internal settings that its using to send the information. It almost might be your signal changing from H to G to E or something that is kicking out the SMS? Not sure but might be something worth looking into
I haven't been having any issues with my Touch Pro on the US network. However, when I bought my wife her LG Secret, we had the exact same issue. Easy resolution...call customer service. They have a department that specializes in phones not sold for the T-Mobile network. The department pushed two .exe files to my wife's phone, and got both SMS and MMS issues resolved.
The good news is we aren't the only ones buying outside of what T-Mo offers. So many people do that they have their own department to support us with no issues. They were a great resolution to our frustrations.
Good luck.

I think you are right. During browsing I noticed the same problems, my network changes from H to G and back. For a small period the connection will be lost, maybe that was the moment I wanted to send my SMS.
Is it possible to assign H for my preferred data connection?
I searched this, and was surprised not to find any threads on this topic, as I'm sure it has been answered already, but anyways...
I'm travelling in the US for the next 2 weeks, and I want to avoid roaming charges on my cellphone. I do have wifi where I am, and I want to know if there's any way that I can use this to avoid roaming charges.
I know there are SMS apps that send texts over your data connection, and I just wanted to see if this would help me evade roaming charges.
On a side note, if anyone knows, does rogers charge roaming on incoming and outgoing, or just outgoing?
And, can I get both my incoming and outgoing to come through wifi?
Thanks in advance
Just wanted to bump this one up as I would really prefer to know the answer soon
I have textplus on my phone and that does allow me to send messages through wifi and I can also receive them. When I send a message it uses a really funny number (like 1001-2223202) But you select a name to be shown when the person receives the message. Also if you want to receive a message the sender has to reply to the funny number not your typical cell number, If the sender send you a message and you donèt have wifi on, the message shows up the next time you open the app.
Hope this helps....
I dont know why your are going out of your service area but another option is to pick up a SIM card for a local network when your away. You can get a cheap SIM and get a pay and talk type plan while your in that area, this way you can make local calls and message without worrying.
I guess it all depends on you situation.
Google voice works.

@designerfx
I don't have an american number to tie Google Voice to, so I can't use it as it is exclusively for the states.
@hipditch
Thanks, I'll try that. I'm out of my service area because I'm on vacation
Hello I'm quite a novice at cell phone stuff to please forgive me if I'm asking in the wrong place or wrong question.
I bought a Samsung Admire R720 about 6 months ago. It's umm locked for the carrier MetroPCS. I never activated the phone with them because I didn't have the money yet. I just always used the wifi wherever there was a hotspot. I also rooted it because I wanted to use more advanced tools like the wifi analysis and Titanium backup etc. I also used Groove IP on the phone to use my google voice while I was on wifi. Now the fun begins.
I activated the device with Metro online and did all the MEID stuff and the phone seems happy but I cannot dial a call to anyone (unless I use groove ip). When a number is dialed, it rings once and a recording pops up saying:
PS01 Your call cannot be completed. Bye. *click*
Everything else works on the phone though. I can accept incoming calls to the cell phones number. I can text and I can surf the web. All with the wifi radio turned off so I know its going through the carrier.
I'm lost as to why it wont simply make a call out. I have the android toolkit here and can use adb to do anything you ask of me, dumplog push pull... whatever. I've seen the dumplog while trying to make a call and I have a copy of it but I would rather one of you more experienced folks tell me what to search for then post it here. Otherwise the dump is huge and messy because its raw with no modifiers.
Any help would be much appreciated. I do have a ticket in with MetroPCS but I think the real techs there aren't very available or none exist.
Thanks in advance!

Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network
recently bought a used Verizon Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V). It came with the lollipop OS. My service provider is H2O wireless (on the AT&T Network. From the outset, I had problems with phone calls, text messaging.
1. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to dial (Like to enter numbers for automated systems).
*I solved this one by going to:
settings>applications>call>
Scroll down to DTMF tones and change setting to long.
2. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to click over to calls on call waiting. When I do try to click over, I still hear the original call for a few seconds and then both calls drop and I get an error message that says "no sim or invalid sim". If I don't answer the call, both calls drop and I get the same message. The same thing happens if a try to make a 3 way call.
3. If someone calls me and I try to call them back, the call redirects to turn it into an international call and the call doesn't go through.
*I solved this using an app called prefixer
4. If I try to text message someone who called me, I get an error message back saying the phone number is invalid.
I figured I would have to root my phone to be able to make some custom changes. I first had to downgrade to kitkat (android 4.4.2) and root it and then upgrade with root using some very helpful posts and resources found on this site (thanks). When I downgraded, problems 1 and 2 went away (for number 1, I had to change my network mode, but that solution didn't work when I went back to lollipop). After upgrading beack to lollipop, all of these problems were there, though I was able to resolve 2 of them, the other 2 are problematic.
I think theres a problem with the way the phone is handling the AT&T network signal since they have a different type of network from verizon but i don't know.
I'm will in try to install a custom ROM, change settings in service mode, etc. I just haven't come accross any info to point me towards the right instructions. Alternatively, I may trade or sell this phone ant get an AT&T based phone. What do you suggest?
Hi all,
My son ordered this phone from deal extreme and we knew that it wouldn't have total support for 4G frequencies in our area, but we only needed text and telephone, not data. When the phone arrived, it connected to the network fine and he was able to send texts so we thought all was well since, as I understand it, SMS rides on the voice data packets so if SMS works, so should voice.
We soon noticed that he could not make or receive telephone calls. We spent quite a bit of time playing with settings on the phone and calling Virgin Mobile (Canada) tech support. They, too, thought that since he could SMS, he should be able to call. They could see that the IMEI was attempting to make calls through their network and they added it to his account but to no avail.
I am currently trying to get the phone replaced through deal extreme, but I've been asked if it can be repaired. What do you guys think?
Here is a video of the problem.
