[Q] Specific Question on my Ideal Evo Rom - General Questions and Answers

Hi There! I've scoured the forums, but haven't been able to definitively find my answer. And thus I submit my first supplication to the XDA deities...
I just rooted my Evo and have been trying out several roms ... Cyanogenmod, Fresh Evo, Baked Snack, OMJ ... But none have exactly what I'm looking for. The following are important to me, but seemingly difficult to get all in one package:
4G
Swype
Wireless Tether
Wiimotable Bluetooth Stack
Remove almost every Sprint Apps (this seems easy on most roms)
Better battery life and performance would be nice too...
Any ideas?
I know that cyanogenmod has all of this except 4G (but they are on the cusp!) In the alpha build that has 4G there seem to be a lot of usability issues (like camera issues and you have to turn off your phone to turn 4G back on). I also haven't been able to successfully install Swype... Maybe the best solution is to wait for Cyanogenmod to work out the kinks with 4G?

Rom with 4G working

Found this over at Android Central thought it would spread faster if posted here. Moderator remove if you are not ok with this.

erm old news
If its old news why are there still so many posts about people waiting for a rom with working 4G?
There's post about people waiting on 4g?
I've posted a few times in the Toast threads saying my 4G doesn't work after rooting and if there are any fixes. I haven't heard anything...if I could get some advice on what I should be looking at doing, that would be great. I've done Toast's Steps 1 and 2 and updated the radio.
Thanks
This is news to me...and yes, there is a thread trying to get 4G working..I still don't have 4G...this is the only thing I haven't tried, although I don't think it'll get it working..but I'll try...
I think more clarification is warranted.
What ROM are you speaking of specifically that 4G is not working? Outside of the Froyo ROM's where a few things are known to not be working at this moment and 4G is one of them.
The 2.1 ROM's having functioning 4G and Wifi Sharing for the most part. Some OTA updates caused 4G to continually scan for signal but it doesn't mean it was not working. It was corrected on some phones by following some instructions posted on the boards for a little while now.
4G works for sure on DamageControl and Fresh 5.3 with the current Radio and WiMax radio installs.
Been using DamageControl for a week and Fresh for a day so far. No problems.
4G DC and Fresh Verified in PDX.
Waiting for a working ROM with 4G? I have used Fresh 0.5.3 and Damage Control 3.2.3 with perfectly working 4G signal. No drops or failure to connect, along with 3-5 MB's of speed.
I thought this was in reference to a fix for broken 4G.
4G is still not working on all these custom roms OMG...OMG....
BTW... I found the search button. I guess I was wrong.
Admin. Move to q and a
wtb 4g froyo rom nom!
That rom is referencing a problem with 4G that happened around Evo's release. It has nothing to do with the latest OTA update's issues or Froyo's issues.
I'm not sure of the exact ROM I have, if you tell me how to check I can. But basically, I ran through Toast's steps (both 1 and 2) to gain full root and installed the new radio. No upgraded ROM's or anything.
I can connect to 4G (at least it looks like it to me) but when I have it on, I can't use any data transfer stuff like email/internet.
I'll probably just upgrade to the Fresh ROM since it sounds like that is the one everyone likes, but as of now, no 4G.

yeah I thought 4g was working for just about everyone unless your rom has it broken already and you need to fix it and that link you put up is way old he updated it today with the fixes

[Q] TMob G2 w/Google + ROMs = shattered dreams

Ok, so I just got this phone on the 2nd and have been extensively looking around for stable ROMs. I've found two ROMs I particularly love, SuperVillain and SparkMods HotSauce, I also rather enjoyed GingerVillain. But all of these seem to have some serious drawbacks with the G2, or maybe just the T-Mobile network, I have no idea. But with SuperVillain, my bluetooth won't work correctly. GingerVillain breaks my WiFi (won't stay toggled on longer than five seconds), and I've yet to accomplish getting the android market app onto HotSauce. And across the board of all the nonstock ROMs, picture messaging absolutely will not work.
So my question is, is there a stable ROM with full support for this phone or do I have to be stuck running this beautiful device at 800mhz?

Switching to Cyanogen Mod

Hi guys I'm currenting running BAMF 2.0 and I'm having a lot of problems with charging and USB mounting and so I was wondering if I should switch to CM7. What problems have you guys been having with CM7? Also what kernel and radio should I flash when I run it? Thanks!

You need to use a Froyo radio (like the one in my signature). Also CM7 does have it's own issues: see the CM7 thread for more. I'm using leanKernel2.5.2+tun and it works great. Make sure to flash the kernel in recovery and not in ROM manager or Kernel Manager -- it can cause issues. Some of the charging issues I've seen with the GB Sense Leak seem to have something to do with the kernel, or so I've read in the leanKernel thread. May want to check that out before you switch.
Good luck!
I've been using CM7 as my daily driver since the newest build came out and have had very few problems. The most annoying issue is that in order to get 4g you have to turn 3g on first, then switch to 4g and it will connect, but won't show you how many bars you have. Aside from that everything is working pretty flawlessly for me. I think that it is way better than any of the sense based roms and it's definitely cool to have an AOSP rom since I upgraded from the OG DROID.
I wouldn't say I've been having zero problems, I don't have the updated baseband above (care to point me where I can find that/noob instructions?) but overall I have mixed feelings with the update - most of them are stock-android issues I think. The radios are a mess, I lose 3g regularly and have to restart, gps problems, and bluetooth is a complete disaster (as it was on sense). Other than that, I've had issues with exchange, issues with my contacts (may have been a backup problem), issues with some widgets. Generally it is MUCH faster than sense on bootup, but some games are laggy with nothing else running.
Also: Netflix!
Really looking forward to future updates, once the kinks are worked out I will be pretty happy. Very glad I'm off sense and all that VZ crap is gone.

(Q) Stable Rom Desire or inspire?

Hi guys i have been through most of the inspire roms and i have to say i cant get one that everything functions correctly. Either i have issues with wifi, sms, lagg and or glitchy issues. Is there a rom that anyone would recomend either in desire or inspire devolopment? Also is there an easy way to go from unlocked bootloader to S-Off?
Everything works n Blackout ROM, cept wfi hotspot, but that s am ATT issue. Some of the tweaks out there lke gps fix restore functons better than factory
We have a tendency to close down "Best ROM?" threads because they never really serve a useful purpose.
My advice is to just search the development forum and take a look at the change logs and bugs lists and see what other users say, also flash as many as you want.
What I do is download like 6 ROMs, do a MyBackupRoot backup of my apps, then spend a couple hours flashing and tinkering and deciding on a ROM.
Good luck

[Q] KitKat, GoogleNow, Stable and fast?

Water damage destroyed Samsung S4 so I was looking at Moto G/E, but the E specs are not too far off this Inspire. Haven't hacked with ROMs since I got a Nexus7 (2012) to replaced my old Nook Color. I was using CM7/9 back then on the Nook; it was rather slow, web browsing was painful (due to speed or touch sensor inaccuracy????)
For the Inspire there isn't a recent CM build. I did some browsing through the forums here, but there are so many ROM variations I don't know where to start.
So... what is the best ROM to get Inspire up to date (prefer KitKat if possible, or JellyBean)? This will be my daily driver phone so I need stability. Also looking for speed to be able to use my favorite apps: GoogleNow, WidgetLocker, NovaLauncher, Feedly, Tasker, ZooperWidget. Also would like to use Bluetooth headset and audio to car stereo.
So, which ROM is in heavy development/testing so there is a very stable build that I can flash and be done with it? Anything that doesn't work with it? Unfortunately I don't have a lot of free time to try a bunch of different ROMs or spend time every week updating to latest nightly builds.
There seems to be more activity in the DesireHD forums, should I be posting there?
Thanks!!!!
