Wow! I have the fastest NAND! uahhuaaauh
Kidding!

just tested
I just tested my defy (stock US tmobile firmware + rom) using the default settings on the app (10mb/2k) and got:
NAND:
Write: 1.03MB/s
Read: 1.63MB/s
SD Card (SanDisk 32GB):
Write: 1.73MB/s
Read: 1.92MB/s
Why does my phone suck so much?!
I tried again with the 2.0 version of the app (default settings of 10mb/4kb) and got this now:
NAND:
Write: 2.37MB/s
Read: 3.52MB/s
SD Card:
Write: 3.46MB/s
Read: 4.0MB/s
I feel a little better now =)

Getting my new 8gb class6 sd tomorrow, but here is the bench to nand and default sd.

Poor SD Card

This performance is realy poor!
Can it realy real?
Only 2MB/s ??
Every today usb stick ist even more faster!
Maybe we have to use a nother tool?

I supose it's the hardware... or the unoptimized software..

What about Milestone 2 ??
Samsung I9000 gets 14Mb/s !!! REad and write!

Sd Card (the included 2gb one):
w: 3,44
r: 4,92
Nand:

I am not sure what's going on, but my Class 4 SD card seems to get 3.2/3.6. However I had tested the sdcard speed on a PC before and it's really closer to 8/12. Puzzeling.

new values with new SDCard, Transcend microSDHC 8Gb Class 6
SDCard:
Write: 5.27MB/s
Read: 6.05MB/s
NAND:
Write: 3.15MB/s
Read: 4.37MB/s

Why is nand so slow??
Maybe its Android 2.1?
Can someone test it with 2.2?

On my side, sure it's poor compared to the 'real' capacity of the hardware measured.
SD Card :
W 4.91
R 4.62
Lexar 8gb Class6
Internal Nand :
W 2.35
R 4.12
Running 2.21 stock rom
Cause : Drivers, OS, IO mgmt, Bus...etc.

In quadrant score, the read/write stills scoring better than other android phones...
When i'm moving files to my phone, usually i get 5-8MB/s ( only large files 10mb+ )

I benchmarket the SD conected via USB with HD TUNE and results are....
No ****ING LOGIC!!
EDIT: The second test give to me 14MB average

I guess the benchmark tool is bullshi***!!

Guys it depends of the buffer size, if I select 1024kb of buffer i get:
SD
Write: 31,95 MB/s
Read: 114,94 MB/s
NAND
Write: 33,44 MB/s (More than SD Card)
Read: 112,36 MB/s

[Q] SDcard speed differences

hi,
i read some articles about sdcard speed but i didn't find any answer why are there diferences between speed in device and if device is connected to PC (recovery vs booted OS)
application in my device tested card and write that i have class 6 card
i tested my device from PC with HD Tune Pro(windows 7):
in recovery mode:
st.fri.uniza.sk/~barlik/recovery.PNG
in booted OS:
st.fri.uniza.sk/~barlik/system.PNG
do you know why there are differences?
BCM ICS 4.0.3 CM9 b0.3.5
HTC Desire
sd card speed test
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroSD#.C3.97_rating
sd card in device is slower usually. depends on kernel, rom, read ahead settings, version of android, etc.
Antutu is a good way to benchmark this.
sorry i forgot to write that I have 16GB class 6 card
i know that there are differences but write speed in recovery at about 10MB/s and write speed in booted OS at about 0 MB/s ???
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &
Read the Forum Rules Ref Posting
Moving to Q&A
to be honest i changed the sd chace size to 2048kb and it is much much faster than the original 128 kb... i can't see any diference with usb mode but on the booted os is way more fast.
sorry 16 gb card class 4

(q) REALLY, really slow reading/writting speeds at sd card

Hello, recently I have been having problems with my sd card and now I'm getting from 350 kb/s to 1.5 mb/s writting speeds (I'm copying a backup of my sd card and it's been copying for like.. 2 hours), so, anyone can help me?
I'm using CM 9.1.2 by Hehappy (THe first one he released, not the new one).
Thanks in advance.

Class of sd card? This usually indicated how fast the sdcard is. For example class 4= 4 mb/s read and write speed. The higher the class the faster ur sdcard
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
Have you tried removing the SD card from your phone and connecting it to your PC with a SD card reader? I usually get better speeds that way.

I have the same problem, I have a samsung class 6 microsdhc 16 gb, and i get write - 2.5 mbps and read 11-13 mbps
You could try with a class 10 (highest class) SD card. Or use a card reader. I've also read that if the port damaged or old, etc., so try putting it in another port. Maybe that'll help.

Good to know that the card I just bought performs so well!!
Is this the microsd pro rated at 70mb read and 20 write?
Can you test your read write speeds with the app SD card tester or a1 SD bench? I'd like to know if 18read 12 write is normal when tested in with a phone app.

yes this is the samsung pro 64gb micro sd rated at 70mb read 20mb write
i ran the a1 sd bench- using longer testing . (without this box ticked the ext sd was a ridiculous 500+mb/s read 13mb/s write)
internal mem- read 135mb/sec write 71mb/sec
external sd - 21.77mb/sec read , 14.09mb/sec write
Is there instructions/links that are specific to the note 3 on how to test the speeds?

not really rocket science. can use that a1 sd bench app. there are other apps arounds.
or time how long a file takes to transfer with a stop watch. then calculate the transfer speed , which is what i did with that single large file. since i'm mainly transfering movies/shows across, i figured this was a better real life test than using an app.

micro sd card LOW write speed

Hi ,
I have problems with my micro sd card class 10 (16 gb) due to low write speed (write speed should be around 10 MB per sec.). I have been using this sd card since my HTC EVO 3D without a problem.
With my SGS4 I never get more than 2 MB/s of write speed (transfering files from pc to phone). I was also playing with sd cache (I tried 1024, 2048, 3072, 4096) but still nothing (SD booster apk).
I att. also benchmark of my card (done with A1 SD Bench).
Thank you in advance.

my Sd card also seems to have a low write speed which is weird considering its the same 32gb sd card i had in my old s3

I am using window7 x64 so I tought maybe something is wrong with my PC but I did not find any solution on google regarding this problem. I had tried a lot of aapks for changig sd cache but without success - I can change cache but I get no difference in write speed.
how have you tested the write speed? If u just link the phone to PC and copy files from pc to the SD Card, it should be slow, because gs4 has no hard disk mode (I don't know if with some apps can make a real hard disk mode, I always copy big files with card reader).
If u want to test the write speed, try to copy a big file from interne SD card to the extern SD card, note the copy paste time and calculate the speed.

Compatibility Feasibility Speed and use of High Capacity MicroSd Card for adaptable s

I want purchase a new high capacity (64GB or 128GB) high speed (100Mbps 170Mbps 250 MBps) MicroSdcard for Swapping/Adoptable /linking apps through Link2SD/ portable (adoptable) storage
so i want to confirm compatibility feasibility speed performance my external sdcard slot/tray/reader/chip/hardware should have according to my device and Android lolipop 5.1.1 support.
High capacity MicroSd card comes with pre-formatted extfat file system but my mobile manufacturer technical specification of mobile device says it supports up to 128gb and fat32 file system
There are many available sdcards Micro i want to know that type (SDHC SDXC) UHs speed Class (UHSI UHS II) Video Speed Class (v10 v30 v60 V90) and App performance class (A1) Speed of (90 Mbps 100Mbps 170Mbps 250MBps) its confusing which will be compatible feasible and best for adaptable swap and give optimum performance for the purpose.
secondly there is not use of extra speed or video class card if mobile Device or Android supports works on less speed.
Before purchasing to decide i want to confirm and check my device and understand clarify following questions and queries to decide which external sdcard will be compatible for my android lolipop 5.1.1 OS and device:-
Can high capacity exfat be forced to be used (through mounting it inboot init) in android or phone through mount commands without damaging phone Android os or SDcards protocols and will all apps/ os file manager support it if yes then

For suggestions I have pre-tested through androbench app
a) internal memory of my device through writing 64Mb file to /data/
(ext4 partition mounted) (64Mb file used for testing)
Code:
sequential read 128 MB/s
sequential write 12 MB/s
random read 10.93 Mb/s 2800.4 IOPS (4KB)
random write 3.9 Mb p/s 996.31 IOPS (4KB)
is there any restriction in device or android should we need to match
externalsd speed performance with internal sd as we have we can use
external sdcard as internal either by swapping/adoptable /linking or it
will work in more or less performance to
b) External memory of HP SHDHC Class 10 16GB (still i want to switch over
to high capacity card) of my device through writing 64Mb file
/external_sd/ (fat32 partition mounted)(64 MB File)
Code:
sequential read [B]35.56 MB/s (printed 95MB/s)[/B]
sequential write 8.6 MB/s
random read 4.36 Mb/s 1117.58 IOPS (4KB)
random write 0.53 Mb p/s 136.38 IOPS (4KB)
Hp printed 95MB/s but result is 35.5MB/s now its device result,fat32 file
system result or sdcard performance result don't know how to
differentiate it .
