Can't connect wifi after lagfix installation in Galaxy S - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
I have a strange problem;
when i installed lagfix; i am not able to access the wifi routers which have wap/wap2 encryptions, but i am able to access the routers which have no security encryption or have WEP ones...
Is this problem related with the lagfix? I have installed Vodoo version of lagfix...
I an running android 2.2.1 froyo JPY... Also i have rooted and unrooted the phone...
I have no problems with the phone or OS except than wi-fi problem... The phone is running very stabil...
Any ideas for this matter?

I've been having exactly the same problem. I've just installed the Ryanza OCLF on my Australian Galaxy and now it is not connecting to the wifi in my house. The funny thing is that I haven't ran the lag fix because I haven't been able to root my phone (another issue all together). Will see if removing the OCLF will make a difference. I haven't got anything to back up my phone yet so I am reluctant to wipe it.

[Q] MAC address unavailable

G'Day all
Apologies if this has been covered but I have been unable to resolve thus far
I bought a Desire (A8183) second hand and after wiping leedroid 2.4.1 and installing HTC 2.2 Froyo for Telstra the MAC address is listed as unavailable. No Wifi, bluetooth or GPS.
Is there a way to edit the MAC address or has it been wiped from the chip and killed the wifi permanently.
Any help would be appreciated - I have already tried re-rooting the phone, installing a variety of ROMS and using Android Terminal Emulator to edit but have been unable to sort it.
Thanks

Hi
Did you find a solution for this?
I'm having the same problem! Since moving from a rooted stock (with minor tweaks) sense 2.2. rom to CM7, wifi only turns on (or appears to) for a few seconds before turning off (doesn't even scan) and shows "mac address unavailable".
I've tried reflashing everything (radio, recovery, rom) and no luck. I've read some people have resolved it by a simple reboot but that doesnt work!
Any help would be much appreciated!
Radio: 5.17.05.23
Recovery: ClockworkMod 3.2.0.1
S-off
ROM: CM 7.1.0 RC1 (and i've tried the latest nightly builds too).

problem with wifi hotspot

Hi I'm running thiaiz's rom v 2.7.1, not overclocked. Got an issue with connecting to a wifi hotspot that i create on the phone.
I can set up the hotspot and it confirms that it's running then when i try connecting another device to it, with or without password encryption, its says 'unable to connect'.
Is this likely to be a root/rom issue, LG hardware problem or an issue with vodafone?
thanks
rod
Most probably is a ROM issue. It is certainly not a hardware problem or a stock rom problem. I'm using the WiFi Hotspot without a problem with any stock rom.
Thiaiz's original v2.7.1 rom had a problem with the WiFi Hotspot and he released a patch to fix it. Look at the v2.7.1 original thread to download the patch.
Might be entitlement enabled.
At that was what happened to mine with Rogers.

Anyone having issues with tethering?

I can't seem to get any tethering apps to work. No barnacle, Android wifi tether for root users, Foxfi, nothing...I'm rooted and unlocked, currently running the rooted stock 2.20 ROM, but I've also had Milestone 6.3 and 6.4 AOKP and same issue.
The wireless network shows up on my PC, but I can never connect to it. Any ideas?

Answered my own question.
In the Wifi tether app settings, change device profile to generic ICS, then hit menu and reinstall binaries. Worked immediately for me after that. Haven't tried barnacle again because I didn't need it, but Wifi Tether for Root users works great.

WiFi problem. Need help badly!

Hi so I recently flashed my buddies one s with cyanogen mod and pacman ROM and the ROMs both work flawlessly other then the problem with wifi. The wifi doesn't seem to want to hold a connection. Is there a radio I can flash to get this working? He keeps complaining about the wifi dropping right after connecting. The problem only happened after I rooted and flashed his phone. Any help would be appreciated.

I have also this problem with my One S. It seems that it doesn't want to connect to all WiFi networks since WiFi doesn't work in my home but it works in my school. Someone suggested to me that the problem is bad version of wpa-supplicant binary. I didn't have this problem until I flashed CM10.2 Stable. Sometimes WiFi won't connect before I switch WiFi off and back on. Currently the only solution seems to be changing the settings of the WiFi router if possible. Make sure that WiFi channel is 11 or smaller and try changing the encryption settings.

[Q] android 4.3 and 4.4.2 wifi issues

Hi,
Since I upgraded the ROM to 4.4.2, I'm unable to find my network/WIFI router.
I have currently KatKiss-4.4.2_022 installed. Before I used 4.3 and sometimes I lost connection, but since I installed 4.4.2 I'm not able to connect on 4.3 neither (saved backup), but if I roll back to the stock ROM, I have no issues at all. Also I have no issues to find and connect to the network with laptop or with my phone (GT-I9100 with CM 10.1.3-i9100).
I did try to reinstall the ROM, tried all the regulatory domains, but none of them works. I also made changes to the router settings (channels, etc.), but no success.
Does anybody else have seen this issue? Any help appreciated.
Thanks

See if your router has mac address filtering set, or if it has a button to allow discovering or such.
MAC address won't be the same between stock and 4.4, it was already the case on katkiss 4.3 though if it was katkiss that you were using as your 4.3 rom that was working before ?
Try also to reboot your router, I've seen a few with wifi that stopped working saying that rebooting their router fixed it.
Beside that I don't really see much else, just the usual, make sure you do a full wipe, format /system and cache before flashing 4.4
in case it's something left over from other systems.
Also make sure you don't restore settings or system apps from the previous rom.

I am also having issues with wifi, but in my case it is more the distance from the router.
in the bedroom, which is just 4 meters from the router (behind 1 wall) I used to get nearly full signal wifi, after updating to 4.4.2 i get no signal at all, to be able to use the tablet I have to be 1 meter from the router. I reverted back to stock ROM but it doesn't solve the issue !!
is it some kind of internal firmware corruption, or hardware issues?
Try switching WiFi optimization off.
Basically if you go to settings then wifi and the click on menu and select advanced, then you can switch wifi optimization on and off.
On most android devices like tf101 ot lenovo k900 it helps to get a good wifi connection.
