So I'm using Gummy Jar (the newest version) so I no longer have swype. The phone's gigantic though and texting with out hand without swype is a chore. So can anyone give me a download for swype? I've done searching, believe me, but every version I find force closes when I enable it...
http://droid2files.com/apps/GJAR.DX.Swype.zip
"Install:
make sure you have root and clockworks recovery installed
Waring!!!! Make sure you are on 2.3.320 or 2.3.340!!!
-boot into recovery via clockworks bootstrap
-select "wipe data/factory reset"
-select "Yes -- delete all data"
-go back "powerbutton"
-select "install zip from sdcard"
-select "choose zip from sdcard"
-find and select DX/D2_GummyJAR-X.X.zip
-reboot"
i took that from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=891692
just installed on my Droid X, so no worries.
take care
can't believe i missed the .zip in the main post. thanks man, problem solved.

hello
i'm a newbie to android, and got an i9003
i tried to solve the gps lock issue, following various hints described in the forum, with no luck
finally, i followed the guideline for flashing the rom from the following topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190163
and now, there are no problems
i rooted the phone, using superoneclick, restored my programs from froyo with titanium
i installed cvm from this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16169086&postcount=590
and i tried to deodex, more than one time so to say, but whenever i use root explorer to view system/apps afterwards, i still see the .odex files.
in the cvm, i use the following method:
"install zip from sdcard" --> "choose zip from sdcard" --> Search " Deodx_XKPE.zip" --> " - Yes - Install Deodx_XKPE.zip" --> Reboot system now
What am i doing wrong?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Did you restore the systems files as well while restoring from TB?
I tried deodexing right after rooting with SOC, and before I started restoring with TB.
With TB, I only restored a dozen or so programs, like Astro, AndFTP etc.
guys, how can i enter cwm mode?
the one with black background and green text?

1) You must be rooted. (You've done this)
2) If you have a /Voodoo folder on your internal SD card, delete it and reboot. (dont have a custom rom so dont worry about this)
3) If you're already running a custom ROM with Voodoo lagfix FULLY enabled, you can skip to step 7. (dont skip to 7)
4) Download CWM-community-kernel-v8.zip if you're on Froyo or CWM-infused-v2.0.1-kernel.zip if you're on Gingerbread and place it on your internal SD card. ( Download the CWM-community one since you are on Froyo, put it on your sd card)
5) Install SGS Kernel Flasher from the Market. (open market and find it)
6) Open SGS Kernel Flasher, select choose kernel, select the file you downloaded, and select flash kernel. Your phone will reboot and begin to enable Voodoo lagfix. Let it do that and boot all the way up. It will take a while (5-10 minutes) because it's converting all partitions to ext4. (open SGS and choose kernel, you may have to go back a file, and select Sd card, look for zip file)
7) If you're on Froyo, you must now install a file explorer like Root Explorer from the Market and use it to delete the file /system/bin/recovery. You will need to hit the "Mount R/W" button in Root Explorer before it will let you delete it. I can't stress this enough... you MUST MUST MUST delete that file before continuing or else you will get boot loops! (do as it says, cant explain it better)
8) Now install ROM Manager from the Market and open it.(Find ROM manager in market)
9) Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and choose "Galaxy S i9000". (open ROM manager, select Flash clockworkmod Recovery, choose the i1900 file.)
10) Now go to "Download ROM", select my section (gtg465x), select the latest Infused V2 release, and hit the download button. (In ROM manager find Download ROM, select gtg465x. and select 2.2.3, hit download)
11) At the "Installation Type" prompt, select full. (do as it says)
12) Select the addons you wish to install and then wait for ROM Manager to download the ROM. There is a note at the bottom of this post about which addons are not compatible with each other. (do as it says)
13) When you get to the "ROM Pre-Installation" prompt, you MUST check "Wipe Data and Cache" unless you're coming from Infused V2 BETA 1. (select Wipe data can Cache)
14) Press OK. Your phone will reboot and automatically install the ROM. Just sit back and relax. (BAM)

And open up my files folder and make sure you dont have a Voodoo folder. If so delete it

Ok i think i pretty much got it, but i dont know what you mean by flashing it... do you use the kernal flasher that i was supposed to download?and then the file that i have to put in the internal sd card... do i just put it on like anywhere? like where the folders all are? like the folder voodoo was in?
And last thing, what rom manager should i use? does it matter?
sorry i know the flashing thing now,i just use the kernal flasher, but number 7, do i just skip that step? it says if im on froyo which i'm not... but i just went to move the file over, but do i put the whole zip over or what do i do?
Hi,
I have a UK Milestone with stock Froyo rooted.
I followed all the steps (flash SBF, install open recovery, etc) but when I get to the part where I'm in the Open Recovery menu and select "Apply updates", all I get is a "go back" option, even though the proper CM7 zip file is in the SD Card's root.
So what could I be doing wrong?
Can I just try it with CWM, as it worked flawlessly with my Defy and Advent Vega?
Thanks for your help.
You need to put update zip with CM7 to /sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates folder, not to root of your sd card.
Don't use CWM on Milestone - it is not 100% compatible with that device.
the CM7 zip file should be on the OpenRecovery/updates folder, not on root. Then, when you go to the Apply updates option, the update.zip file for CM7 should show up on the list. Just select it and go ahead.
And no, don't ever try CWM on the Milestone, it won't work.
Gosh, how could I have missed that within the installation guide?
Thanks, guys.
I just did my 1st nvflash. followed all the directions and the flash completed. it started to boot to the stock rom. I saw the tap n whatever screen then another. it is stuck at the n with the 5 thinks above it screen for almost 20 min...
what can i do at this point??
thanks
ok, i got into the rom now. i am sending back for repairs. do i need to remove cwm recovery? anything else?

Put this on your internal sd, boot to CWM & flash this.

something crazy going on. I copy the file onto the tablet and it does not stay. i see it in the folder, (tried while tablet was on and tried copying file while in recovery. i see the file is on the tablet on my computer but when i go to flash it is not there??? do they check recovery (if i cant flash this one back)?
thanks!!!
They probably don't check BUT can't guarantee it!
Are you selecting the "install zip from sdcard" option in CWM (different than the "apply sdcard:update.zip" option). The first option lets you browse for any zip you want the second looks specifically for a zip called update.zip in the root of sdcard.
You should use the "install zip from sdcard" option since the filename for the stock recovery isn't update.zip.
Al
yes, i am choosing the right option. The file I copied is not really coping to the tablet. so weird
thanks for the help... I just downloaded from the tablet and got it done...really, thanks a bunch!!!!
The only reason I could think that it would do that is if it hasn't finished copying or the Android is seeing the file as damaged.
Android perioically does file system checks (it's the scanning sdcard notifications you may see periodically). If it finds a corrupt file it moves it and moves it to the LOST.DIR folder.
Are you sure you are giving it enough time to fully copy? Are you sure you got a good download from the link. Try opening the zip on your PC to make sure it isn't damaged. After transferring to the tablet open your file manager & long press on it...it should give you the option to Extract to....see if it will extract the contents to a folder (to make sure the zip transferred OK) if it extract fine you know the zip is intact & you can then delete the extracted folder/contents.

As a complete beginner in Android and this kind of smart phones... well, I fetched a volume tweak as a zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740993 but then what? Is it something along this or am I completely off (the rest is theory as I have no practice what so ever):
Have the zip file that you want to install into SD card.
Turn off Samsung Galaxy S3.
Press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.
Release all buttons when you see SGS3 Logo.
I know this will get something very DOS like screen.
Apply from external storage... ***but here begins my troubles..
I would expect that I could read the files from the SDcard but it says something like ../ no SDcard. I know when I use Android to look for files it finds a mnt/SDcard. Can anybody help me out on this or give me another method to install the tweak (sorry for my beginner state).
If I can find the zip file the rest will probably be something like (though I haven't tried for obvious reasons):
Select your zip file.
Select Yes – Install your zip file.
After installation finished, select +++++Go Back+++++.
Then select reboot system now.
