hello
i'm a newbie to android, and got an i9003
i tried to solve the gps lock issue, following various hints described in the forum, with no luck
finally, i followed the guideline for flashing the rom from the following topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190163
and now, there are no problems
i rooted the phone, using superoneclick, restored my programs from froyo with titanium
i installed cvm from this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16169086&postcount=590
and i tried to deodex, more than one time so to say, but whenever i use root explorer to view system/apps afterwards, i still see the .odex files.
in the cvm, i use the following method:
"install zip from sdcard" --> "choose zip from sdcard" --> Search " Deodx_XKPE.zip" --> " - Yes - Install Deodx_XKPE.zip" --> Reboot system now
What am i doing wrong?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Did you restore the systems files as well while restoring from TB?
I tried deodexing right after rooting with SOC, and before I started restoring with TB.
With TB, I only restored a dozen or so programs, like Astro, AndFTP etc.
guys, how can i enter cwm mode?
the one with black background and green text?

I'm trying to install some of the standard apk's on my rooted Evo (myn's warm 2.2)... like footprints and setup wizard... without success...
method 1: I open up root explorer, make sure that read and write is clicked on, go to the apk file on my sd card and click on to launch, system asks me to confirm what to do.. so i click install.. asks me again to confirm if i want to install application and lists the permissions.. again i click install... goes to the screen with the progress bar for about 2 seconds then at the end shows an exclamation symbol that says "application not installed" and my only recourse from there is to click a button that says "done"... unknown sources option is checked on also....
method 2: take all the apk files and place them into a single zip file on my sd card... reboot into recovery and clear the cache... flash the zip file... confirm that it says flash complete and reboot the phone into android.. check my apps and confirm that nothing was installed...
method 3: same as method 2 but with each individual apk in their own zip file... same result...
I just have one more thing to say.................. WTF?!
Try pushing them through adb
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Tested on rooted XXKP4.
1. Extract the achive called "xUltimate 2.2" then start Main.exe.
2. If everything is ok, xUltimate will recognize your phone (don't forget to turn on "USB Debugging"), then you will see a menu.
3. Run option 1, after option 1 run option 2.
4. Run option 3 and after option 3, run option 4 and wait
5. Close xUltimate
6. Copy folders "done_app" and "done_frame" to root of /sdcard/
7. Put the folder from "gscript.zip" to root of /sdcard/
8. Install BusyBox_installer_3.6.3 (run (root needed) and click on "Install", then wait to finish (wtf ) ), after this install nl.rogro.GScriptLite.
9. Turn off and turn on the phone (restart)
10. Switch the phone to "USB Debugging" mode and turn on "Emulate Location"
11. Go to GScript Lite --> Menu --> Add script --> Load file --> Deodex.sh --> Save --> Run
12. Ok, now the phone will restart.
13. If your phone doesn't stuck in bootloop, seems everything is ok

It sounds like you may be in stock recovery. We have to use a bootstrapped recovery called openrecovery. After you have installed openrecovery you get to it by holding the volume up key during a normal boot.

so wht shld i do??? is der a problem with my sd card????
Reading your post, I think there is a step that was missed. Did you extract the openrecovery.zip? The extracted contents are what is in this folder sdcard/openrecovery.
Do you have this set up on your SD card?
Sdcard/openrecovery.zip
sdcard/openrecovery
sdcard/nandroid/openrecovery/<your ROM you want to restore>
**No spaces between**
Go to this thread and download and unzip this recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1242259) This is what we are all using now b/c of the customization that MZ put into it. Follow the directions.
Yes yes yes yes!!! U were right i missed tht step i got it working Thank u thank u

Here is one more problem. I have installed this rom now after installation of this ROM i m getting an Error PLMN failed.
Check you APNs but IIRC the PLMN error didn't really matter. I saw it on Hellmonger's ROM. Might want to ask Linertymonger, I think he had a fix for that.
Hi guys,
I'm a complete newbie in this world. I just want to install ICS or an ICS-like Rom on my SGS scl i9003.
I've learned with some tutorials how to flash a rom using Odin, but they always say I'd only have three files in the downloaded rom, a PDA one, a PHONE one and a CSC one.
However, I downloaded this rom and the .zip is full of folders and files. So I absolutely don't know what to do with that.
Please somebody help me
Thanks!

Here are the steps in brief :-
1)Download CF root for your stock rom (Check it by dialing *#1234)
For Gingerbread its here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201062
2)Flash it using Odin
3)Copy the RemICS zip file to your sdcard and rename it as update.zip
4)Using clockword recovery application go to recovery mode
5)Wipe cache,dalvic cache n fix permissions
6)Now install /sdcard/update.zip
7) Reboot in recovery again wipe cache, dalvic cache again
You're done

I am actually on Froyo (2.2.1), is it mandatory that I update to Gingerbread before rooting my phone ?
Because every CF Root for i9003 is said to work on Gingerbread-based Roms, like this one or the one you linked me.
And when you say "copy it to your sdcard", is it the external sdcard I have or the internal one ? And where exactly do I have to copy the file in it ?

try flashing first xxkpe gingerbread rom and then flash the proper cfroot. after that, you can go to recovery mode and then flash the remics zip.

I suggest that you redownload the remics zip file. your download might be corrupted that during the flashing, it cannot be opened.
i have also tried flashing the dxkp9 cfroot and it's always going into bootloop. it comes with the tun.ko file and i don't know how to use it.
so as an alternative, try flashing the xxkpe rom and then flash the proper cfroot. and after that you can flash the remics zip.

Two things, you must:
1. Have modded recovery binary
and
2. Make sure you are using the correct CWM 3.0.2.8
EDIT:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mex4qna8rr3urck Modded Recovery
http://www.mediafire.com/?jvtpra5ashdmctn CWM
Make sure you change CWMx.x.x.x to update.zip and the modded recovery must be placed in /system/bin
Backup current recovery file and make sure you overwrite with this, using a file explorer that allows you to get to root access.

One thing to remember about this is that you MUST mount the internal storage as read/write. Ghost Commander (free on Google Play) lets you do this. You have to enable root explorer in its menus, and then go to where your stock recovery is and mount the volume as read/write. Then, paste the modified recovery in the directory and overwrite the stock one. Now, you should be able to get into CWM.
First things first: did you successfully root your phone?
