The California USA Supreme Court ruled that the Police may search your Cellphone if they stop you and any data, info, photos/vids etc, it contains, Without Any Warant! This may, (I hope), go to the US Supreme Court and hopefully be overturned, but that could literally take years. A way to quickly/instantly lock down/wipe phone to prevent this invasion is needed, that won't involve entering a 50 digit passy every time it's used, (& wouldn't help the storage card anyway). As a Telecom Consultant for the last 26 years I find this one of the most offensive-dangerous things I've seen. MikeNYC

I've got an idea, don't have anything on your phone that would make an officer want to search your phone. Also don't talk nor text while driving. PROBLEM SOLVED

I think its just a privacy thing. I know it sounds lame but even though I broke a law you should be able to see my girls naked pictures.
Now the bigger question is can they still search it if you have a passcode. Gives dudes a legit reason to passcode their phones lol.
Hmmmmmmmmm lets see we have gps built into phones these days most of our data usage is logged and kept on file..... GOOGLE MAPSS, how many of us use the find my location on that??? LMAO WOW THINK ABOUT IT THIS WAY INVASION OF PRIVACY BUT WE ALLOW IT ANYWAY<when useing half the apps out there> it sucks i guess the best route is by a prepaid phone and always have water on hand ,this way you u can drench and fry it before the cops can see anything or like someone said earlier a rooted phone with a custom rom just a quick cache/data wipe just dont forget to nandroid backup before every car ride lol.... if its in cali, its only a matter of time before nyc falls victim to the bs too owell. i feel bad for THE "DOCTOR ROBERTS" OUT THERE.....

What are you guys so worried about hiding? Are your phones full of child porn and emails to the Taliban? Honestly, I think it's bull**** that they can search you without a warrant, but it's not like I can think of any reason to actually worry about that!

it's a Fourth Amendment issue:

I'm aware of that, but why are people actually concerned about wiping their devices? What could you possibly have that is flagrantly illegal on a phone?

Unfortunately this is the prevailing mindset in America today. We disregard our inalienable right to privacy by saying "spy away gov't, I'm not hiding anything!". It sets up a precedent which marginalizes the demand for privacy, desensitizing everyone from this right. Then, anyone who demands privacy appears to be hiding something when in reality, Uncle Sam has no goddamned business prying in my affairs without probable cause whether or not I am breaking the law.

You can't catch **** before it happens and want total privacy, doesn't work. Most Americans don't want tragedy to strike again, and this is why the American Gov't must impose this and that to make sure they cover themselves. Heaven forbid a day come where we see Pearl 9/11 2.0 and the government had the technology to prevent it, but didn't because it would "impose on the rights of the people".
Spy away... keep America safe. Simple logic, don't want something on your phone compromised? Don't keep it on your phone.

In order to prevent terrorism, freedoms must be bent. Fact of life in today's world. I understand the counterargument. It's just my choice to give up some of my freedoms to prevent terrorism. And I already have less freedoms than most of you as I'm an active duty US Military member.
This is basically an argument that no one can win, but it's always interesting to read others' opinions.

This is still BS.
What happens when every 10 years or so we give up just a little bit more of our freedoms for a false sense of security? Just a little more. I'm willing to give up just a little more. Repeat...and repeat....and repeat. Next thing you know they're all gone and your country has become a military state with little to no freedom of any kind. All for the sake of protecting the people, of course. Why don't we just take away everyone's ability to choose anything while we're at it. Then they'll be so much easier to manage and keep safe.
Freedoms should never be bent to protect freedom..

Back OT ive showed this to my wife who is an ob nurse. She mentioned it would have more usefulness for her by allowing for more complications and a field to enter the pts meds. But seems like a great start for 1.0. Great database export functionality too. Keep up the good work.

I actually work in medical I.T. privacy from who? The doctor? Maybe they should just keep writing your name and medication on paper pads instead of encrypted databases? This IS privacy. Fact is, until each pt is logged in a central database, all pt transfers take more time and more admissions. Make more room for medication errors and the list goes on and on. Personally id rather have the whole world know that i have a birthmark shaped like the virgin mary on my left ass cheek rather than some half asleep nurse missing that im allergic to a medication because it wasnt added to an encrypted database when they rolled me off the helicopter. Privacy to what end now that my chart never made it onboard the helicopter? Now a nurse has to phone the point of departure and now im dead. All because of paper privacy concerns. Meanwhile the janitor is reading my paper at the point of departure because it slid off the stretxher and fell under the desk. Theres your current privacy model. Billions are spent on this technology , and this guy just gave it to you all for free. This doctor deserves a medal for giving it away for free to you $H17534d5. Oh and by the way , if i see you dead on the ground and defibulate you , i pull out and unencrypted data chip from the defibulation computer and hand it off to the next first responder . But boy we shouldnt want anyone to know how long your brain has been without oxygen down to the milisecond ! Oh no! Thats private!
/rant off
Truth is , nobody cares what the birthmark on my ass is shaped like. And even though access to the entire database of patient info is available for me to browse at my leasure, im too busy to care. Why? Because the system thrives on pumping out healthy patients and bringing in sick ones. The more we do, the more efficient we are. The higher the survival rate becomes and the better our communication with other health facilities there are. Sure , there is always risks, just like the pizza delivery man can enfer the file cabinet and read whatever paper he wants. But that same pizza guy wont be able to crack the password on the raid five array after breaking through the maglocked , key carded door in the server cluster. And even if he pulled out a drive and walked away , it would still need to be decrypted. All of this is less risk than a pad and paper which the current model for health records is based on. And it really takes people understanding that this health data is our lives, our most important information. More important than all your money and property. It is the difference between how fast we get air to your brain or not, literally. Im all for privacy guys dont get me wrong. But when its my ass on the line i got no more secrets. And professionally speaking , the only way a data breach could occur was if it was someone on the inside dropping an unencrypted device. But each pt is assigned a id number. So even with that data, its useless without a name to go along with it. The pt ID is at a federal facility . Thats the building you should be worrying about, not doofus leaving his ipod on a train full of medication information that references some obsure ID #. Bottom line , your children are going to depend on this system to protect their lives. So when a doctor shows up giving out open source help , he deserves a pat on the back for not being a complete selfish scumbag. 1.0 or not. I for one hope some day we can have robots scooping us up off the ground and replacing our hearts. Do you really think with the current paper model that could ever happen? This is XDA and when a doc shows up who delivers babies and gives us open source baby apps we say thanks. Or atleast in Canada we do.

Ok, so this is my problem. Today when I came back from school (High School) I found out my infuse wasn't in the backpack slot it should be. I remember seeing it in my backpack at school in my locker, but then on the bus, I couldn't seem to find it.
I'm pretty sure rather one of the students busted into my locker using a key (teachers have keys that can open any locker) which they used to open my locker, or that the person with the locker next to me has found out me combination and has told it to a lot of students.
I am very concerned that they will screw with my phone, but I have an android pattern security on, so I doubt that.
What should I do? Should I call the school and tell them that I think someone stole my phone and give them a list of people who I think stole it? Or try to interogate them myself?
Please help! I love my infuse.
P.S. I've checked AT&T's website and I couldn't find the Infuse. So I'm thinking of ending my contract or terminating it so they can't text any of my contacts.
First tell your parents...and you can have ATT suspend your line...and they can kill that sim card...unless you have insurance...your at a loss....idk
But you can bring it to the school attention...
If you don't see your phone on you're acct when you log in...they prob took your Sim out...
I've already called the school but they didn't answer. I'm going to tell the dean of the school when I get to school tomorrow. I've already told my mom and she said to tell the school. I'm just trying to consider my options. If I can't find it or my friend has it and has reset everything, then I think my mom will be nice enough to get me a new phone.
Yeah...I wouldn't interrogate the people them selfs...if you don't know who did it for sure you could be questioning the wrong person...and if you do that then they probably won't like you...
Plus people may think you don't trust anyone...and if you do question the right person...what's gonna get him/her to admit it?
How ever I would defently inform the school...and give then a list of people you suspect...you should always let the authorities know (in this case the school) ...there are some crazy people out there...

Thank you all! I've found the culprit (Long story prank) so the person who stole my phone's best friend spilled the beans. I have the text on my mom's go-phone (Very small and simple) and I will hopefully be getting the [email protected] suspended until school ends or at least get him grounded. Thank you for the options and I have suspended my AT&T account until further notice. I don't think that they can access my phone considering I have a pattern lock on it. Thank you for the support!
Your right, the 11th graders in my school aren't the smartest. But I'm Asian (Not to be stereotype or racist) and so are most of my friends and we know how to unlock phones without software (Hardware), pick- locks, and even create our own roms (I don't know how, but my friend ***** has created an HTC Vivid rom). Lol...this will be my last reply on this subject as I don't wanna argue...but you won't end up in juvy for stealing a phone at school...unless you commit a serious crime like assault with a weapon or something along those lines, no matter what you do at school you will not end up in juvy...school takes responsibilities and deals with consequences...trust me I've seen tons of kids steal stuff and get caught...do they go to juvy no-if its a first time the just get suspended for a few days...second time expelled...authorities are never involved so they never go to juvy...
Now if they were to steal from somewhere that wasn't a school like a store or a random guy on the street then sure they have the chance of going to juvy...but if its done in school there's pretty much nothing to worry about as long as your not afraid of suspension...trust me on this...although I never did any of this I did used to hang around the wrong people who constantly stole stuff...so I've seen first hand what happens...and even when they steal from a store...they typically contact the school not the authorities...I actually know someone who stole an iPad right from the apple store...caught him on survelance and they just contacted the school not the authorities...so he got suspended for stealing a $600 product...
And then they go to court before getting sent to juvy...and most times they just get a big fine instead of going to juvy...
Even if they do go to juvy...they don't care as it doesn't stay on your record like jail does...once your a certain age (can't remember it...but I think it may be 20) all juvy records of you are no longer kept...
Most of the kids who steal actually kinda wanna get in trouble...they use it as rep, like they don't want to get caught but if they do then its just rep for them and their proud of it...
Anyways...like I said that would be my last reply...I don't wanna argue, and both our reply are not contributing to the ops problem that sounds like he has solved as he knows who has his phone...
Sooo...I hope everyone has a nice day

Every school is different. I went to a bad school at the time. Authorities were always involved. A serious example, my friend stole the substitute teacher's laptop. He got suspended. Brought to the station for some reason. Fined. And had a court date. Taught him a lesson.

I didn't read the full thing but google has been doing this forever and then some. they even increased how detailed/how much data they collect with the new TOS they put out recently. I'm betting the only reason Verizon is drawing more fire is because of the phone aspect of it.
Also, big brother can and does whatever they want. The government monitors all sorts of stuff that you would think would be illegal to do. Welcome to the new socialist regime under Obama..

Yeah, if you don't think that Bush handed him the keys right before firmly pointing the economy at the iceberg and tying steering wheel in place before doing so, than your mistaken.. And being prior military and working in intelligence, I can tell you that every electronic ANYTHING is being archived and saved and scanned for keywords since way before Obama. Eery single one of your emails and voice conversations and IM's and posts. Hmm and who put the Patriot Act in place.. hmm.. Have a Lovely day talking to big brother.. Oh by the way.. Not that I want to get into a political conversation here, but I will, who made it a felony to protest, even peacefully, in front of the Secret Service? Who's had 4 years to fix said economy but has only steered it deeper into the hole. Obama has increased the national debt more in 4 years than Bush did in 8.
Now I'm not a Bush fan, I'm just saying Obama is bad news. Oh, as far as the Patriot Act, who renewed it once the majority of the terrorist alarm settled down years after 9/11??
I do agree the monitoring has been going on for a long time, but it has either taken steps that no one would before or at least taken steps publicly that every other regime did in secret. If it is just the same sh*t diff pile then doing it publicly is just a slap in the face to everyone. I'd rather they try to hide it then do it and blatantly step on our rights.
Oh, one more thing, who's given illegal immigrants more rights/help than the average American who is in need of help too?
I'm pretty sure most companies track your online habbits. They claim the use it for "market research". On my phone I'm not really that bothered by it, I don't do anything on it that I want to keep private, because I don't trust how private they are.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, unless you are embarassed you look at porn on your phone. Just keep things you would like to be personal and not tracked heavily on a properly secured connection at home, and possibly use TOR if you are that paranoid and want a little extra security.
Actually, I believe there is Tor available for android. It may help cut down on what they know your doing.
yawn, who cares???

Also, big brother can and does whatever they want. The government monitors all sorts of stuff that you would think would be illegal to do. Welcome to the new socialist regime under Obama..

Ya because Obama is a king and can just do whatever he wants with no one else in government having a say.

Yeah, let's not make this a presidential debate thread.
I've always liked Verizon, but lately I'm getting tired of them. I'm following the link to opt out.

Wasting your time. If someone says socialist regime and Obama together.. Let it go. And consider that statement with future debates with them.

(Oh, and by the way, you just used them in the same sentence so are you including yourself in your comment?)

Yes. That's exactly what I meant. When someone is referring to another comment they're automatically bunched in.

Democrat or Republican the only thing you can be sure of is they do NOT have your best interest in mind. They love that they factioned the people, makes it easier for them when we're fighting about who's the worst.

I don't mind some monitoring but when they collect everything!? That's a little overboard IMO. I want an option to op out. I don't care about their strategic advertisements for my use. I guess there's no way stop them until theyre a law suit against them.
I got a samsung S3. At times I notice the status bar change different colors and flash weird letters. It almost looks alien like. This happens like twice a week. Could this be the government spying on me?

I guess its not about government spying as if a government spies it does via network so it does affect the hardware or phone software.
can you post screenshot?

Maybe you should wrap your Galaxy S3 in aluminum foil. That should prevent alien attacks, at least.
Do you not watch the news? The government is spying on us all. Congress knows about it. The judicial branch says it is ok and the Executive just doesn't care.
Its only because you rooted your device and was put in a watch list.... Government doesn't like not having control... [emoji12]
One way to be sure you are bing watch is if you ever notice light aircraft or helicopters in your area then you can be sure the have seen you. If you look at them and they fly off then they have notice you have seen them are are trying to be inconspicuous. Never go outside without a tinfoil hat. You can hide one easily under a top hat or cowboy hat, even a bowlers hat.
We all gonna dieeeeeeeeeee!
Nonsense, the only people spying on your phone is the Illuminati, They're watching us all...

One way to be sure youre a paranoid troll with tendencies to harm women is if you post comments like this, people like myself will reply with comments like mine. If you look at them and they dont look at you, it explaims why youre angry at them. Never try to talk to them. You'll only end up being rejected and as a result, more angry.

My phone isn't rooted yet. Youre right about the government though.
In first world countries this is an issue, yet I cannot say that this is very true for all classes of countries, namely 3rd world countries.
I am sensitive that NSA surveillance in the US does overlap the barriers of privacy and security, as the main operators are humans and not machines, yet I do not confirm this is true, this is just speculation. They can choose to cross those barriers without us even noticing them.
However in regards to being spied upon by the government, it will go as far only as you'd let them get information. I have simulated your errors by means of Network Security testing, and yes I am a Network Admin and simulate stealing information. What i can say is this, if the government uses technology by means of any frequency via Wifi, Bluetooh, GPS, etc and you have these on, then you have to be extra careful. Most tracking agencies do not leave the spying to machines, they do it themselves and can choose to go beyond stealing your "Intellectual Rights" so to speak.
I also have Hardbricked and soft-bricked devices in my simulations. But what I can is that you should be responsible for gathering facts and truths about this matter. It is foolish to speculate upon the government without knowing of the tools that they use in acquiring private information.
I hope my article has helped you, and i do wish this thread is closed as it is.

The truth is that you ARE being spied upon by the government. The FBI, CIA, TSA, and NSA are SO incompetent in their spy work that their spying causes graphical glitches on your phone. These glitches are caused by the syncing with the NFC chip that was injected into you the least time you got a shot at the doctor's office. You only noticed these glitches because there weren't enough pacifying hallucinogens in the atmosphere spread by the gubment in those inexplicable chemtrails you see crisscrossing the air above you.
Because, obviously, someone of such incredible genius such as yourself is of extreme interest by the government's top intelligence and law enforcement agencies that they'll spend tens of thousands of dollars in tech, equipment, and man-hours to monitor 24/7.
Or maybe there's just a software or hardware glitch in your phone.

Oh, and since you posted this on a public forum (searchable by Google and other search engines), the government knows their cover has been blown. Expect a team of "cleaners" to arrive soon.

They don't need to. The US, UK, Pakistani, and Chinese governments already spy on India enough.
I work for a large telephony company. In the US, if the government was spying on you, you wouldn't know about it. There's actually regulations built around how they spy on you, called CALEA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communications_Assistance_for_Law_Enforcement_Act)
Basically, the telephone company has a security group whose job is to receive CALEA requests, and essentially they fork your call into a 3 way call whenever you make/receive anything. That's how modern wiretapping works. No one outside of that group is legally allowed to know anything about it. It doesn't show up in call signalling.
As for the wide-spread stuff that the NSA was grabbing, they're grabbing "call metadata" so essentially the signaling information, and CDRS (call detail records). It's not the same thing as a wiretap, but you can still get a lot of information out of it.

There are also "taps" or pass through skimmers at a lot of the data pipes throughout the country.
SSL should cover this, but SSL is so freaking broken its not even funny

But all jokes aside ('bout time someone took this half-seriously besides SidDev), I would try getting a stock firmware image and just flash that through ODIN. Doing this will erase your data, so make a backup of anything you really care about. I remember my old Rugby Smart had an issue where if the device was off and I plugged it into the wall socket to charge, it would say there was no battery inserted. However there was one inserted, and it would charge just fine if it was on. I just flashed back to stock firmware through ODIN and it fixed the issue.
If it still persists after flashing through ODIN, then it is probably a hardware issue. Unfortunately, I am not as experienced with hardware-related issues, so I wont be able to help with that if that is what it comes down to.
SidDev is right. It is either a software or hardware relates issue. Although the gubmit is spying on you (n' all of us as well), it wouldn't cause anything like that. If anything, the gubmit WOULDN'T want the phone to show weird signs, because that would make you suspicious..
