[Q] Gtablet image going off. HW issue or someting else? - G Tablet General

1. First week with device.. twice, it happened to me the image suddenly goes out. Battery with 20% at least, it happens while accessing webpages. Has anyone heard about it or maybe this one has a HW issue? I tried resetting device pushing and holding power button several times. It wouldn't respond.
2. By any chance there is a place to download movies for android for FREE?
3. I downloaded a MSN messanger version but cannot do video conference.

Have you tried just plugging it in and letting it charge and then using it?
There's a known issue with some misrepresentation in the battery status.
In summary, what I'm saying is that your device may simply have run completely out of juice.
2. Not legally that I know of.
3. There's no official version of MSN Messenger on Android, whatever you have is made my some 3rd party. For Video Conferencing you may want to try Yahoo Messenger + Video Chat plug-in.
Good Luck.

[Q] use built in camera with flash chat sites?

so is there a possible way, to use the webcam with flash chat sites? when i click to activate my webcam it does not show a camera there. Probably isnt possible, probably a flash issue not a software issue but its worth a shot
Dunno about flash, but works fine with yahoo chat.
There's a video chat app called reelportal. The app's author posted in Themes forum awhile ago, and it works w the Gtab. That uses Adobe Air, rather than Flash, but it works ok, including video/webcam. In one post, he mentioned that Air might not support front facing cameras, so maybe Flash has a similar, but opposite restriction?

Video Chat options: Tango is working, Google Talk A/V Not,or substitute streaming app

Dear All,
TANGO
I am so happy that Tango VideoChat is working!! I suppose all ROMS taking the front vs back camera into consideration
GTALK
I am upset though and please forgive me for insisting for GTALK, I really hope this is not an ARM processor instruction set issue on our device, but if yes, still I dont understand why its really impossible to make the correct patches to make it work, and why Tango is able to utilize...
On other phones it works, like cheap Xperia's and our ChaCha not..it seems unfortunately
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793
[APP][ROOT] Google Talk 1.3 with Video calling, Now wifi optional - is the title.
Under this thread there are various ways to install the video version enabled of GTalk. Personally I succeeded with the installation with @MOdaco install apk way and I can log in, chat with no problem. It also displays the camera icon correctly.
Only when I try to make a Video call from my side it hangs, and if other party tries to call me it refers to a network problem
USTREAM, BAMBUSER
(I prefer Bambuser due to the settings more versatility and I think better quality)
can be a Workaround to make your family at home see what you are doing instead of videochat and while streaming in the background you can initiate a call with VIBER for instance
If any other less battery sucking or nicer ways come out nonetheless GTALK updates make possible to work I will post it while being curious what others use... especially for phone to pc (mac)

Fine! I think it should work with Yahoo Messenger too, but wasn't able to try it yet because no one uses it.

Like I wrote in another posting 10 minutes ago, it is not possible getting this to work. I don't understand too why Google is doing this and I also don't even understand why voice talk won't work without video talk (on the PC it does, on Android phones not).

Similar here - so nothing with Google Talk yet.
There was some App that promises video for Google Talk on phones where it usually won't work. But don't try this, it doesn't work on the Chacha either.
Gtalk-Vtok
There is an app called Vtok on the market which works (with some minor issues eg you cant log out), but its a real battery drainer, so I installed it for case in need, but freezing it for normally...

[Q] Share via wifi

I'd posted this in the [HELP THREAD], but it got snowed under by lots of rooting and unbricking questions, so I figured I'd try my luck here.
I work in IT support where we have to take photos of damaged machines and store them on the PC, to be sent out in an email later on. Right now I use Google Keep or Evernote to sync the images, but that can be slow, especially since there's poor phone reception indoors. We have a wifi network, but there's no internet access (long story, but it's an authentication issue with the network).
What I'd love to do, is to take a photo, open the share menu, hit "Share via LAN", pick my PC / Windows share from a predetermined list and have the photo copy over.
ES File Explorer has a share to LAN feature, but it wants to scan the whole network (~1500 machines), or says it's not connected,
Do you know of any apps out there that can let me effortlessly share files and photos to a machine on the LAN quickly? I'm thinking Tasker might be able to accomplish this using it's net features, but I haven't tried yet.
Did you ever get something here? This is insane that it's not a much more common issue. I have tried several times over the past year or so to find a solution but nothing. Trying again today...

Somewhat. The other week I discovered Pushbullet which has a pretty effortless sharing option -- you install the Chrome extension and the Android app (both free) and create a PB account. Then you just take the photo, share with Pushbullet and pick Chrome as the option. Give it a minute and then you get a popup on your computer with the URL to the file.
Other option was AirDroid which (I think) has a remote camera feature. That could be used to snap photos by using my device as a sort of webcam.
In the end, I grabbed a spare webcam off a colleague who wasn't using it and just used the Windows 8 Camera app to take my photos, but I've used PB a few times to quickly share photos without waiting for them to sync to Google

Any alterantives to Chrome2phone/Fox2phone?

I use Fox2phone quite a bit for easily sending links to my phone from the comp.
But off late i've been facing some issues where the links sent are a hit or miss..
need to restart the phone every now & then to get the links sent.
just wondering if there are any alternatives out there which does a similar function or perhaps even more?
thanks
Ya, PushBullet and it is awesome!!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pushbullet.android
In my opinion it trumps Chrome2Phone times 10.
Can push files/links/etc from browser to phone and vice-versa. Oh and you can also get notifications of pretty much anything (texts, email) on your Chrome Browser on your PC which is handy.
+1 Pushbullet
Wow. Great and useful app. Lists, maps, links, notes and even files. Super easy and mirroring of your phone's notifications in the reverse direction to your browser!

Thanks much!
Exactly what i needed
@bekyndnunwind
have you had any instances when this did NOT work?
shows as pushed from Firefox, but link doesn't appear in the phone..
if i open push bullet & view pushes, it shows the links there, but it doesn't appear in the phone
i can't even replicate this..
if i restart the phone & push something, i get it..
does this require sync to be enabled or something?
In Chrome at least, it works so fast, as in less than a second. I'm almost wondering now if it's not gulping juice in the background.

I've never had a problem where it doesn't pop up instantly, but I do use Chrome not that it would have anything to do with it. Maybe it does require sync?? Not too sure about that. So if you restart the phone it starts working but then it stops working after a while? Very confused, as I've never had a single issue with it. You should try going to the PushBullet website and contacting them, they may be able to help you.

/QUOTE]
i actually did get in touch with them..
i pressed send & even before i could blink i had a reply from a rep called Ryan.
He explained that since they use Google's Cloud service, if there is any delay at their end it may not deliver to us.
he did not mention anything about sync being on or off..
i also queried him about using different instances for each installation under 'devices', cos i use firefox at home & at office and both show up just as Firefox.
you can't really differentiate between them & can't be renamed either.
he said the team is working on a platform based segmentation (macs, PCs etc) & that should be coming soon

So, could someone explain to me the benefit of using, say, PushBullet over just using Chrome Sync?

Doesnt chrome sync only mirror tabs/history/favorites of pages you are viewing or have viewed in chrome? With pushbullet you can create notes or lists that you can send to anything that has pushbullet installed. You can also directly push a file (max 25MB) from one device directly to another. I find it incredibly useful and use it on a daily basis.
And for those asking above, if you want to get the notifications instantly, you *DO* need Sync active on your mobile device. If you dont, just open pushbullet and manually update the list and it should appear. The amount of time it takes to reach your phone still relies on your network speed obviously, but it's normally pushing such a small amount of data that it's almost instantaneous.

Chrome extention ^
And in the settings of Chrome for Android there's an option that enables you to use that system (settings and then tap your gmail address)
I'm using Pushover, as I use it with other apps as well as from Chrome (Sickbeard/Couchpotato).

Use Facebook without messenger GLITCH (NO DOWNLOAD and calls WORKING!!)

I have found a method to use Facebook without the messenger app. It works with all versions I've tried however because it's a glitch, the newer the version the more glitches occur. The version I use is from May 28th 2015 so you will not be losing any features really and you can still FACEBOOK CALL!!!
Ok so the method is uninstall Facebook and messenger, when you uninstall Facebook you need to clear cache/data.
Now you need to go to https://developers.facebook.com/docs/android/downloads this is the official developers Facebook page so you know there wont be any viruses or anything.
Download ''Facebook APK 29.0'' this is the last version that allows messages without the messenger app. You need to extract the .apk using winzip and move it to your phone. When you install V29.0 run it and make sure you can access your messages without the messenger app, sometimes left over files from the newer version force you to install messenger even though this version doesn't require it. If it doesn't let you access your messages you need to clear data/cache/force stop and try loading it again, this is a pain sometimes as it takes awhile for the app to set up each time but it will work. It worked for me first time which is how I came across this glitch but after playing around with different versions I found V29.0 started asking me to install messenger and took around 3 times clearing data/cache before it worked.
Next step, once you have messages working on V29.0 is to download V34.0 and install it over the top of V29.0. Don't clear data, if you do this it won't work. Once installed it should have the left over files from V29.0 and it will let you view your messages, reply to them and even make calls!!
This glitch can be a little tricky to get to work or it can be very easy, it all depends.
One thing I have noticed is when you install V29.0 the screen freezes and you have to exit and reload the app, this seems to happen every time for me, but backing out fixes it and it doesn't happen again. The other thing is if you install V35.0 the Facebook calls don't work, I seem to remember getting V35.0 to work with calls but it's not working now for me, you may want to try it, if you do let me know if you get it working. You can update to the latest version of Facebook but I wouldn't recommend as it is buggy.
I know this is long and a bit of a pain but it works beautifully once you get it working, V34.0 has all the features I need, the only it seems to be missing is the built in browser for viewing websites. Everything else I have tested works, tagging friends in comments/photos/statuses, playing videos, stickers, smiley's ect... plus you get the old interface which I prefer to the new one.
Any questions feel free to ask and let me know if it works for you, if it does hit the 'thanks' button
Thanks alot sir. This is very cool.
I used final facebook right now (55), if i update the app will impact on chat or not sir?
Hello all, I know Facebook still offered a sort off backroom code for messenger still deeply embedded within the app however even with this method which by the way, works, once you install last build (v58) it doesn't direct you to install messenger, but to the web version of Facebook since the embedded messenger code no longer exists there. Maybe if you find which was the last build that had messenger still somewhere in there, we could update to it
