adndroid software - Android Apps and Games

Hi all
Im thinking to shift from WM to Android now. Just needed to ask as in WM, softwares etc are all depended upon the specific device due to the screen resolution. Is it the same scenario, i mean if there is a specific application in froyo for instance, will it run in all devices having froyo or just some specific device?

The market will filter apps that aren't compatible with a certain screen size - however it's possible to hack the market app to let you install apps on unsupported phones - the OS automatically scales an app, so some work fine anyway

Market apps

Now I know this has been discussed many times but what determines what apps that appear on the market? There are apps on my aria which don't work because the aria isn't very powerful. However some of these apps don't show up on the gtab, which is a powerful device. And some apps, like Google earth, don't show up at all.
In looking for a solution for my gtab to fix it, I read that it had to do with the resolution of the screen and that the resolution was stored in a file. But if this was true there could be a way to change it.
I used the market fix, but what factors determine apps? Is it screen resolution or processor... does anyone know anything about an app store the nvidia is coming out with. I read it purpose was to get around the Market data limit and provide apps that work best Terga.
Decided to use my precious limited data on my Htc Aria, Xda app

[Q] How does a device expose itself and its capabilities to the Android Market?

Hi, guys,
I was wondering if someone could provide some info about how device capabilities are "read" by the Market and how the Market filters what apps to show, depending on those capabilities.
I've been playing with rooted Androids for a while now and I have rarely seen missing apps on Market, I've never had a friend tell me about an app that I could not find, etc.
However, at work we've recently published an app in the Market and I find that it's missing on many devices it should support. The app requires 2.3.3, Internet and Phone Status permissions, but the Market sais it also filters devices that have android.hardware.wifi, android.hardware.screen.landscape and android.hardware.touchscreen.
So what I'm asking is what are these android.hardware features, to whom does this "namespace" relate and how can you set what device capabilities the Market sees.
Thanks in advance,

Tablet-optimized app is not showing in Tablet mode?

There are many popular apps, such as Mint and TripAdvisor, that are table-optimized in a single application. That is, they don't have two separate applications for phone and tablet mode, one applications does both.
I downloaded these apps but they're not showing up as tablet-optimized mode, even in landscape mode. It seems that there is some sort of "device ID" in the GT7+ that makes the applications think that the device is a "phone".
Have anyone experienced these issue?
If you can, try to download Mint or TripAdvisor. You'll see in Android Market they have screenshot of the app in tablet-optimized mode (and is advertised as such) and if those screenshot show up in your GT7+.
My GT7+ is rooted and that's it, I don't have ClockWork.
I see the same "phone" UI you do. The new TripAdvisor app is an HTML5 android app. I'd guess that they may determine which UI is served based on the device screen/viewport size and the 7.0 plus' screen doesn't qualify as large enough.
lowering the dpi value to <130 should work
Happens with aldiko book reader as well and it is a real issue because the phone version doesn't have a menu button compatible with honeycomb so one can't do many things. Frustrating.

launch apps with screen lock

screen lock security is must for my android phone how however there are few applications
I would like to have fast access for example TV remote control. I was wondering if there's any feature in Android applicationor app all that allow certain application to launch without first unlocking the screen...??
Something like this? (there are another apps to do this, you only need to search for them).

Can cloned apps co-exist with work profile apps in split screen mode?

Hi folks, I am tempted to replace my old phone with the newly released 8T.
There is a certain feature I would like the 8T/Oxygen OS to have, which is to run apps with its cloned version and work profile version simultaneously in split screen mode (2 foreground both active and 1 background).
The phone I have right now runs MIUI and I am able to create a cloned version of the app with MIUI's built in cloning feature, and then I used Island to create a work profile version or the app, making it 3 copies total of a certain app, and I am able to run the them all at once in split screen mode.
I don't have oneplus devices so I am unable to test it. but I did go to my local store to see if oneplus/oxygen os can clone. Unfortunately it could not clone the app i want. and then i was told that if i install it through ADB or some tricks in developer settings I can clone, plus help from Island I can also have 3 copies. But the guy told all these also mentioned that he had problem running further copied apps (like other work profile and cloned apps) as it crashed and he couldn't find a way to fix it.
Can someone verify these? does cloning apps through ADB always have issues running with the original apps and work profile apps? thanks in advanced
