I just got a new G Tablet as a Christmas present and had a chance last night to charge it up. Then this morning I turned it on an attempted to establish a Wifi connection from my NetGear router, but with no success. I went into settings, and it found my wifi, but when it tried to connect, it just would say "disconnected . . . Connected . . . Disconnected. . .
I have two laptops that work fine with this router. Should I go out and pick up a new router? I'm excited to get the new update, but I first need a wifi connection.
No Sir. Your router is not the problem.
My WiFi on the GTablet was doing the same thing. Apparently there's different errors than pop up on different GTabs like the battery error. These were made in China so we can't necessarily count on everything being the best quality...hence the screen.
That said, there's several ways to temporarily fix the problem without flashing a new rom. There's a thread in this GTab forum which covers them all. I usually had to turn airplane mode on and then turn it off so I could manually connect to my router.
However, there are firmware updates from Viewsonic now and the TNT Lite 3.00 rom I'm running completely got rid of that error. I connect without any trouble whatsoever.
I would advise downloading the latest VS Stock update from the forum here and flashing it through recovery mode. This may be confusing, but if you read up a bit in the Development forum, you'll be upgrading and connecting in no time.

I agree with your comment except for the above. The problem with the screen is not that it is made in China, it is that Malata chose a cheap screen to use in the product in order to keep costs down in order to be able for their OEM resellers, such as Viewsonic, to be able to sell the device at a much lower price than competing tablets. This is my personal take on this and YMMV.

I'm not sure where any of the parts were made. I do know the tablet was assembled in China which means your assessment would probably be correct.
The WiFi on stock roms as Roebeet suggested in another forum has always been an issue until recently. Which would imply that despite the materials used to make this tablet, drivers and firmware could fix most of the issues.

Is everyone having issues or is it just a few. I'm going to exchange mine tomorrow due to wifi issues. Will it be a lost cause to try and find one that will work out of the box or are some working and stable?
Mine works A-OK but I've heard some horror stories here, as well as on IRC.
Viewsonic is releasing an OTA update on Monday and allegedly WiFi is more stable. Allegedly.
Mine has been working fine. I traveled out-of-state with it earlier this week and it worked in the hotel, at the client site, and tethered to my Evo's Sprint Hotspot. I took it to a friend's tonight and it worked just fine there as well (even in his front yard).
mine is ok. on tnt it goes out all the time and i get errors, especially after it goes to sleep by itself. on zpad it seems better but i haven't really tested that rom out much.
On my second one. First one had wifi DOA. Second one is working but the range capability seems to be very poor, plus although it sees and recognized my PEAP AP at work it wouldn't allow me to connect, as it just took me to the security tab and gave up with no helpful options. If the wifi doesn't get better I'll probably give up for a while.
Mine actually worked pretty well. I encountered the disconnect after every stand by, but if i just left it for a minute or so it connected just fine. Now with cm6b3 it works 100%
On a stock, rooted g-tablet, mine has always worked fine. I haven't used it outside of my home, though.
Returned mine today due to the WiFi issue. The closest replacement is 50 miles away. I think I'm going to wait and see how the updates work out before I pick up another one. May wait to see if i can get a refurb on Sears outlet. It is too bad, I really liked the thing.

It would be hard to get an OTA update if you can't get the wifi to connect....
The only Wi-Fi problem I am having is the disconnect even though in Settings I have it set to never power off the Wi-Fi.
It disconnects even if my G Tablet does not go to sleep. In other words it disconnects even with the screen up at all times.
It appears to disconnect when there is no Wi-Fi activity for a few minutes, such as reading a long web page or putting the tablet down for a while.
First attempt to communicate over Wi-Fi results in an error message but then the Wi-Fi connection goes back up and all is OK until the next time.
I mentioned this to Viewsonic Support and they suggested I get the tablet replaced. Somehow I don't think this is a hardware problem though.
My first one had almost no range. I could be standing right on top of the router and have 1 bar, my phone (droid1) would have full signal. Sitting at my desk I only saw my router while my phone would see all the neighbors. I exchanged it that same day. The new one mimicked my phone, same signal strength, saw all the same networks. So it seems like the wifi radio's in these things are very hit/miss.

No issues with the wifi. I added the latest tnt lite 2.2.0 and I had
no issues. Right now I'm still trying different android apps.
I am still learning how to type on the tablet. ...
WiFi great
My stock gTablet worked very well on the 'net from the outset. It took me less than 5 minutes to get on; the hardest thing was to find the WEP key I had misplaced. I have coverage all over the 1-story house and front and back yards.

Mine works perfectly. I've had no Wi-Fi issues at all.
No wifi
mine can not scan for wifi keeps telling me unable to scan for networks. Going to call support see if there is a work around, hoping by updating may correct problem.

Irony alert! Watch out for people who have had great wifi to switch places with the folks currently having bad wifi. That is how this stuff sometimes works.... displacement!
So since I have had good wifi, maybe should not joke....
Inconsistent
Mine used to (returned it) disconnect randomly, whether I was in the middle of something or not. Very frustrating having to wait a moment (~30-60 sec) for it to reconnect before I could resume.
Plus the fact that it didn't have the option to connect to my WLAN without SSID broadcasting is inexcusable.

WiFi works as good for me as it did on the Augen GT. Not great range, but I still get signal at a distance that I'd normally be outside and away from the WiFi AP... even had it re-connect to WiFi as expected when I accidentally let it go to sleep once w/stock fw. never tried this again since moving to TnTL custom fw...
My WPDN OTOH was a POS at this range and would randomly disconnect and reconnect along with pathetically slow transfer speeds...
Currently moving from hotel to hotel and having issues with new Atrix 2 - Wifi gets connected initially, signal indicator is blue, but after a while, or a couple of hours max the indicator turns gray and no data is passing anymore. Googled it and it seems to be quite a common Motorola issue - perhaps even related to multiple networks on the same channel.
Searched Atrix 2 forum and haven't found anyone else reporting the same thing - is the Wifi working well for all of you, or is there a known workaround I am missing?
Thanks.
Can you tell us what you have tried to fix this issue? Last thing you want is a bunch of people telling you to do a Master Reset, put your power mode on Performance etc. After you already tried that.
Do you have any scheduling or power saving apps? Such as Juice Defender or related? Has this always been an issue or just started happening out of nowhere?
Just wanted to get as much info as possible. Worst case scenario is faulty phone you can always go exchange it at ATT for another atrix but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
It started out of nowhere, bought the phone last week (from an eBay seller, which I don't think can be the cause of the issue). No Juice defender, disabled ATT administrator/manager etc. I believe my problem may be similar to that reported in Atrix 2 bugs found thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423557

Yeah I get that sometimes. I have a G router and an N access point. When I'm connected to the G router it never happens, when I am on the N access point it happens quite a lot. If I reset the access point it clears and works. If I connect to the G then reconnect to the N several minutes later it works. My access point is a linksys

Yeah, that tends to be a pretty common problem in Motorola phones, although I haven't really experienced it...yet.
I read in the motorola forum that blue means the phone is connected and can access google. White means it is connected, but can't access google. While this doesn't help you with the problem, it does explain what the colors mean.
So last Friday I bought the note pro (wifi only). Overall I'm pretty happy with it, but I've got a few annoying problems.
My first problem is that the wifi connection keeps falling, even when the signal is strong. I know that the problem is the tablet and not the router, because my cell phone (huawei honor 2) doesn't have any problem connecting to the wifi.
My second problem is that sometimes the hardware buttons stop working. Whenever this happens, the two software buttons only react to the s pen, they don't react to my finger anymore. After a while, this problem passes, but it keeps returning...
And finally, my third problem is that sometimes the screen turns off without a reason. Screen time out is set to one minute and smart stay is turned off.
So my tablet is the p900, bought new last Friday, the software is official and up to date and the device is unrooted. I tried a factory reset to solve these problems, but it didn't help... I really don't know what to do now Can you please help me?
Problems 2 and 3 are most likely case relared. Chances are you're using a case that has a cover that flips and this cover may have magnets to assist in keeping it closed as well as turning on/off the screen. There's no way to reduce sensitivity to the magnets so far. Only thing that can be done is experiment with how you use the case. As for wifi problems there aren't too many options. I would experiment with channels first and then test with other hot spots before moving onto a factory reset.
Thank you! Well, I am using a case like that, so I'm hoping that's the problem. As for the wifi, how do I change the channels? I'm sorry, I'm a total noob

What you could do as a first shot is install wifi analyzer on the tablet and look to see how many other wireless networks are around. This would help you decide what channels to try on your router to see if you can improve things. You'd then log into the administration page of your router (from your PC) and make adjustments to the wifi network there.
If that doesn't help . . I'm not sure . . I've read in the past that some devices have issues with certain routers, not this tablet in particular but perhaps its an issue for your combination. I think I'd move to checking your tablet's performance on someone else's network and see how stable it is. If it's stable elsewhere then perhaps it's time for a new wireless router.
I have experienced the wifi issue once or twice. Turning wifi off and back on fixes it quickly. There may be some issue between the note pro and my router, but I am more inclined to say is a bug with the note pro. I have approx 12-15 devices on my network all the time and never experience this same issue on any of them, my router is the Asus ac66r (best buy version of the ac66u).
Either way it doesn't bother me much, but I would find your other issues little more annoying.

I have also experienced Wi-Fi issues with my 12.2 note. I turn Wi-Fi off and then on as well, I have the Asus 66U/Apple Extreme and experience issues with both Wi-Fi systems. I believe this issue is relative to the Note Pro as well.
Peace and blessings,

Hi guys. Recently I purchased a used nexus 5 off of eBay, and I am having some trouble getting it to connect to my WiFi. When I received the phone, wifi was working. it was on 4.4. I unlocked the bootloader, and installed twrp, but did not root it yet. I did OTAs up to 6.0.1, and then I started having issues. Upon turning on WiFi, the phone would just say "turning on WiFi", and never show me any networks. I thought this might be a kernel problem so I tried many different ones, but no luck. I used the nexus factory image to downgrade to 4.4 because the WiFi was working then, but still no luck. It will very rarely connect, but it will loose connection after a few seconds, and continue searching. I looked in the settings and realized that my MAC address showed " unavalible", so I used this guide to change it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...icked-nexus-5-externel-storage-t2740471/page5
Now the Mac address shows up in settings, but I still can't get it to connect to WiFi networks for more than a few seconds if the WiFi even turns on.
Any help would be gladly appreciated! Thanks.
I had the same problem with two nexus 5 phones. The WiFi chip seems to have failed on both. After changing the motherboard in both phones, WiFi was working without issues. The only thing I changed in both phones was the motherboard.
Before changing the motherboards, I could never get WiFi to work with all combinations of roms, kernels, and boot images.
If you satisfy the following:
- the phone doesn't connect to any WiFi network on full stock unmodified software
- other devices connect to the same WiFi networks without issue (sanity check )
Then almost certainly a hardware issue with the phone. No amount of modding or flashing is likely to change this.
Ok, thanks
Have any suggestions on where to buy a motherboard? Don't really want to spend a hundred bucks.
I purchased a couple of nexus 5 phones with smashed screens for a low price and swapped out the motherboards.
My router is Huawei EchoLife EG8145V5.
Ever since I used this router, the phone doesn't connect to internet anymore. It's connected to the wifi but not on internet. I already factory reset the phone but the problem is still there.
have you tried different device to test the wifi?

Yes, other phones doesn't have any problems with it.
i will be direct to the point with you okay?
your phone only cost $40 and upon reading about your phone review i have seen 5 different comment complaining poor wifi connectivity also that phone is released around november of 2015 which make it 6 years old already in service ... so i would recommend i guess buying new phone at least $200 for decent specs
eh, that's my last resort. There's probably another way because I didn't had any issues with the phone when I was using my other router.
Solved it by changing the router's wireless mode from b/g/n to b/g.
