Hey I am new to this site so I guess I am considered a Noob. I will be careful to watch out for stepping on the grass..
I am developing a new docking station for the Samsung Galaxy SII and am looking for the Pin outs for this bad boy. I tried to approach Samsung about a Developers group but after an hour on hold they told me to look here.
I know Apple products need to go thru the MFI Program and get approved prior to accessign information is that the Same with Android products?
Can anyone help this Nooobe?
Hi everyone... Here's an economical stand that works well with the galaxy tab 8.9
No-slip padding, does not scratch it, small, light, inexpensive. Good for travel while on long train trips or jet trips. Or simply to have on the desk.

Anyway I wanted to mention it since I use it and like it.
Hi guys
Well since I'm amazed by the progress of smartphones (I have samsung galaxy s plus so far) I wanted to check out if I can fullfill a tiny dream and play my nostalgic c64 games on android, or snes/genesis games, like on a real thing.
The goal is this:
1) Run the game on the android emulator
2) Play the game with 2 people using TWO wireless gamepads
3) Display the game on HDTV
Now, just to make it clear, I will only try to get into it when I get Samsung Galaxy s4 which I will deffinetly get, but I'm now "probing" the topic. But anyways, it will be on galaxy s4.
I did find out something called "sixaxis" on android, which allows to connect the sixaxis controller to the android device, and I also found that modern devices allow to connect android output to the hdtv, using hdtv adapters (I know samsung galaxy s3 has an official samsung adapter, and that samsung galaxy s4 will have one as well shortly after premiere).
So in theory:
1) I'm running the emulator on samsung galaxy s4
2) I have to buy 2 sixaxis controlers and connect them using the sixaxis application
3) Connect the samsung galaxy s4 with a hdtv by a hdtv adapter
It should work in theory, and I saw youtube clips, and searched the topic a little, and I found people succesfully did use either of those, but not all 3 combined (maybe I didn't come accross a case like that).
So I wanted to ask any of you, most likely owners of galaxy s3, as that one I know have hdtv adapters, if any of you managed to combine what I presented above, to make a "console" out of our android device.
I have to tell you, the idea of gaming old classic games, lets say when I am on vacation with friends, using only my telephone and 2 gamepads that I would take with me, is simply mindblowing, and I can't wait to test it.
Any feedback would be highly appriciated
This sounds interesting! Being able to play all the old snes, megadrive and maybe even psone games on the big screen again would make me very happy :good:
I still wonder how it is possible that business devices like the Note 8.0 do not get a range of "pro" accessories from the get go, if anyway...
Does anyone know of some device specific docking station by Samsung or some OEM? Perhaps something has been anounced?
Thank You very much in advance!
Regards, Yoko
I don't know of any device specific, true docking stations, but the following are several types of stands that I've been considering:
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Portable-Fold-Up-Playbook-IPM-TAB1/dp/B000CKVOOY/ and http://www.amazon.com/IPAD-ST-Universal-Tablet-Stand-Kindle/dp/B0045JNBNU/

Thank You for the links, but at least for me one, if not the only reason to get a docking station would be hassle free charging and maybe syncing via USB or MHL linking to a TV, but mainly charging.
Generic devices still force You to plug the tablet in at the right position / angle.
Perhaps it´s only bugging me, but I can not wrap my head around the fact, that any 20$ cordless phone for home use has a charging station and for high end smartphones and "hybrids" like the Note 8 we still have to fiddle around with micro usb cables & plugs until some chinese factory manufactures the first halfway fitting, cheap looking dock six moths after the device is widely available (/rant over)

I understand; that makes sense.
And I hear you regarding the lack of sophisticated docking stations. I wonder if part of the problem is that people are so mobile these days (and thus you're not going to take your docking station with you, most likely) and also quick to upgrade to new devices (in which case your old docking station may no longer have a use)? And if the combination of those two makes for less demand, or at least not enough perceived demand by manufactures to invest in developing the tech?
But I agree with you that it would be very cool to have a docking station that does what you describe.
Samsung's Smart Dock Multimedia Hub (#EDD-S20JWE) for the Note II & S4 "Should" work with the Note 8.0, but I don't know how stable it would be in this dock since it is made for the smaller devices.
I have this dock for my Note II and it works well. As soon as I receive my Int'l Note 8.0 3G (~May 8-11) I will test it and report back.
I'm thinking the following post relates to what @bbfoto is talking about, correct?

^Yes.
I just posted there as well. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the input guys!
The Samsung Smart dock looks to be the closest to what I have in mind, though as pointed out in the linked thread it does not support the tablet in any considerable way.
I was looking for something more like the Nexus 7 docking station, unfortunately I can not link to images, beeing a newbie and all...
Well, who knows, perhaps sometime in the near future some company will think of (business) users, who simply want to throw their tablet on a perfectly fitting dock while at their desk.
Thanks again folks!

Bought the itrek from amazon ill post more when it arrives.
I have put the Note 8.0 into the Samsung Smart Dock for the Note II. It works really well and holds things steady.

are you able to use the device while on the stand without it falling over?

Yes. It works great. I threw it in at work and plugged in a USB keyboard and mouse and worked with it that way. It's a really nice unit. Just too expensive.

Do you know if the Note 8.0 will fit in the Smart Dock with a Samsung Book Cover Case on it?
Yes it does
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
It also fits with the poetic case!

Is the HDMI output the same resolution as the tablet or can it out put at higher res? Id be interested in it if it was higher res as it would make andriod office suites a viable option for me. At the moment I find the resolution hinders its use, especially with spreadsheets (which is what I use the most). From what I can gather it just mirrors the tablets resolution.
I might get one anyway as i like the idea of being able to plug in my PS3 controller via USB and play on some emulators. I find emulator a pain to use with touch controls.

It would be same resolution, just scaled. For example my MHL kit gives 1080p, my miracast kit gives 720p. Same amount of content on screen. Ditto if I use an adapter that only does VGA output.
You can't change that metric.

Hello guys.
I need your precious advice ,
My memo pad smart 10 is broken, I look for new android tablet 2 week now.. So many model, advice, YouTube review.. I'm lost.
I need 10 inch+- one for landscape mode use en always in my house with WiFi.
Its for YouTube looking, web browsing, e mail , little game en something big game, modding .
( I have o+o, nexus4\5 . I'm fine with flash/twrp etc..)
I want kisk ass tablet ! I'm looking for Samsung tab s2 9,3 but, the 4/3 ratio for landscape use is weird.
Samsung galaxy s 16/9 is good but old now en out of stock..
Maybe Google pixel c 32 g ? Good tegra x1 , high resolution but no SD card.
Maybe another one ? I don't known.
Best 10 inch tab ? For 400$ to 550$.
Your advice is precious guys.
Sorry for my English, I'm from Belgium .
Have en nice day
Thanks you
Samsung galaxy tab 4 10.1 I think is the best choice....it has a ir blaster for remote control. ...love samsung. ....check that one out bro....
Hello,
Thanks for your advice bro
Nothing about pixel c guy's ? Or Z4
Any other advice ?
BTW thanks you
ergonomics and heat/material/looks
important for me is thickness, as I am one lazy geek, and I use it normally at bed time, and when you are horizontally, you need to hold to in from sides, so this is for me - needed light one for my skinny wrists .
needed ask for accelerometer adjustment so it wouldn't disturb playing more demanding games as well!
if you need that device for long working at one place, no need for expensive WiFi device, will be OK with the 3g modem.
if mobile is your way, think about extra cover for raindrops and possible damages make it necessary to have good plastic or material bag with proper locking if you are really in motion.
for home devices I have no advises, but just keep in mind that in about a year will be to old any way to put any more money in it, so don't go for the newest ones.
this is how I see it.
