[ROM] DHD Vodafone Australia Stock Branded Rom 1.32.178.5

I finally got around to rooting and S-OFFing my phone today, while I was at it I used clockwork recovery to make a backup of the Stock VHA Branded ROM.
I saw a few people were looking for this so here it is. Feel free to mirror it or whatever, this is my first ROM-dump so if anything is amiss or I did something wrong please let me know. I still have the device available to make further dumps.
This is for the Desire HD (Obviously) Branded by Vodafone Australia.

Sorry for posting a link as a new member, I thought this would be worth it.
EDIT: Obviously the dump is all at factory defaults, on first boot it should be like buying a new phone, from a bloatware company.
Except it will be a rooted bloatware rom?
That's the point People have been asking for it as a backup rom, as flashing a non Vodafone rom may void certain warranties, which flashing this back could increase your chance of keeping. I personally upgraded my own DHD to a much better ROM as soon as I could.
Awesome, ive been waiting for the stock ROM. Good Work

No worries man. Let me know how it turns out if you use it. Everything should be at factory defaults as I wiped the device with Clockwork before making the backup. If you find anything wrong just let me know in this thread.
Thanks Should be handy for warranty issues!
Thanks champion!
Thanks mate. I've downloaded and it all looks good so far (haven't flashed though to check).
Is it rooted with VISIONary r12?
Sweet, been waiting for this. Thanks mate!
Sent from my Desire HD
Yeah the process I followed was Perma root with VISIONary v12, install hboot, install clockwork test, use clockwork to wipe to factory and then backup to SDcard. I'm unsure as to the exact details of how VISIONary works at this time so it may not still be rooted, I don't know if root persists after factory reset.
Thanks! this is getting downloaded for safety/warranty reasons.
Thanks a lot for extracting and hosting the original (Vodafone AUS) ROM!
Am i right, that this is the only thing you need to set your mobile into delivery condition? If there are some other traces of flashing they might decline warranty, too!
Perhaps, if you have the time and pleasure, you could write a detailed how-to for newbies (with links to software you need, e.g.!) how to extract the original firmware.
I think this would be necessary if the DHD will be available in other countries on other network providers (with their own ROM).
Excellent! I'm just 2 days into my new DHD from Vodafone Oz and just about to do the same... Rooting!
I'll probably make a back for myself but I'm downloading this one too... Just to be safe.
Thanks heaps Kazuroka!
BTW - Don't listen to those lame ppl who don't have anything positive to add.
Just a note: I believe that this ROM, although the stock Vodafone image, is a rooted one. So if Vodafone have a moderately smart technical department they will still be able to tell that it is not running their complete stock image.
@ivolol: That's exactly what i'm thinking about! For e. g., changing ROM on my Windows Mobile phone requires a modification of the bootloader. If you flash back your old (original) ROM you have to remember to change the bootloader to original too. Otherweise you have the original ROM on your phone but another bootloader and this could be be detected very easily. I know that the procedure changing ROM on DHD is another than on Windows Mobile, but perhaps you have to think about more things than only flashing the original ROM?!

After flashing back the backup ROM I did not have root. I installed Terminal Emulator and tried to su, and even downloaded VISIONary+ and re-Rooted the device. However I did still have the Eng hboot, as that was not included in this backup. I have a copy of the original hboot from when S-OFFed the phone, I will see what I can do about getting the original hboot and stock ROM into one package for everyone, and then perhaps write a tutorial for flashing them back individually. I MAY NOT, however, write the tutorial as I am still rather new and would not like to lead people into doing something the wrong way. I will also include the stock hboot in a seperate archive for those who have already downloaded this release.

could be better i gues...thanks OP

This is the original system.img that comes on a brand new Vodafone Desire HD.
This image was dumped manually without Visionary messing with stuff, and Obviously the image is NOT rooted. It's completely stock.
This would probably be the best image to use if you're worried about returning the phone
Note: I have had to return a Desire HD to Vodafone who did not check that it was rooted and S-OFF'ed - So, don't worry too much.

Why is your file so much bigger than Kazuroka's original upload and also just wondering your method of extracting the img?
Thanks

Help! Need to root updated 2.47.507.7

I got a new phone today from AT&T. I upgraded to the new ATT Gingerbread using their update button (I wasn't thinking). I like the stock rom...will probably keep it...but I need to be rooted so I can sideload! Help!
I tried Bubby's tool...it just said something about update version being older than what was currently in the system...so it wouldn't work for me! I'm about to try ace-hack-kit...hopefully that'll work for me!

I was able to root with attn1's hack kit just this morning with Gingerbread. btw. Sideloading is now "legal" unknown sources checkbox is in the stock GB rom.
Unknown sources
Strange...I didn't see unknown sources in the stock unrooted gb upgrade. I saw mock locations...but not unknown sources. Update...the Hack Kit seemed to work. Now I'm working on S-off.

its there...just under Applications.
Ya its in stock gingerbread I got it without root right under applications in settings
Just a little side note:
I flashed today the new Inspire ROM provided through the HTC site. There are 2 things I found.
1. If you flash over a custom ROM using the PC method (using file RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_Cingular_US_2.47.502.7_Radio _12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_200368_signed hosted on HTC's site) you will go back to total stock, loosing all rooting ENG-OFF etc. You will have a plain ATT ROM. Even recovery will be reset to HTC. No CMR anymore. It might be good to know that you get full stock if you want to return your unit....
2. Good news is, the old method is still working except that the USB drivers act up. I got back to rooted by reinstalling HTC SYNC and leaving it on. ADB only worked for me (Windows 7 32bit) when phone was set to sync and not to "charge only".
Hope this helps somebody.

If you have ENG S-OFF, then that is strictly a function of the engineering HBOOT image and flashing a new HBOOT will clear it, but if you have Radio S-OFF (which is typical of most of the rooting methods available for Inspire/DHD) then flashing a new HBOOT (or any or all other images from an RUU) won't clear radio S-OFF.

CM7 installation question

Hey everyone! I have a question that I couldn't find the answer to in the General or Dev forums.
My brother asked me if I could root his phone. I have experience with rooting, CWM, etc on my phone (Atrix), so I told him that I could, but I'd have to do some research first.
He did install the 2.3.3 update, so I understand permanent root is not possible yet. So here's my question-
Is there anything that would stop me from executing the following sequence and successfully getting CM7 onto the phone?
Gain Temp root
Rename install_recovery.sh to something else
Install ROM manager
Install CWM Recovery
Have ROM manager download CM7
Flash CM7
Done
Thank you in advance!
DK
Will not work, the bootloader is locked so flashing roms isn't gonna happen.
I dont think that would work... The shift is as locked down as the atrix was. I am pretty sure the partitions would still be write protected with only temp root...

I didn't even think about the bootloader possibly being locked. I always thought HTC had unlocked bootloaders until very recently (Evo 3D) when they released locked bootloaders, then announced that they would allow you to unlock them.
According to this page:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Evo_Shift_4G:_Full_Update_Guide#Flashing_the_Engineering_HBoot
Flashing that will unlock the boot loader. So I should be able to change my steps to:
[Edit: That site is basically instructions on how to install CM7 onto the Shift, and those steps only require temporary root to execute.]
Gain Temp root
Flash HBoot
Rename install_recovery.sh to something else
Install ROM manager
Install CWM Recovery
Have ROM manager download CM7
Flash CM7
Done
Is there anything else that would stop my process above from working?
EDIT - MY Atrix had a new bootloader installed when I did the OTA to Gingerbread several months ago. If the Evo Shift also got a new bootloader with their GB update, three is a chance that flashing HBoot could brick the phone. I'm going to start looking into this now, however if someone knows the answer to this I'd appreciate an answer
Wont work... We have an emmc partitioned phone just like the evo 3d. The o.t.a. to 2.3.3 included a new locked/encrypted bootloader. The partitions are write protected and encrypted. Flashing the eng hboot with a locked/encrypted recovery partition could equal brick...

Thanks for that info, I couldn't find confirmation either way on the bootloader. I was going to check check MD5Sums before flashing the HBoot just in case.
So can I restore back to Froyo and the old bootloader? On the Atrix you could do this (as long as you didn't unlock your bootloader) by using RSD Lite and flashing the stock SBF file. A quick search on the Evo Shift implies that I can do something similar with the Evo Shift - RUU back to stock Froyo? I admit I know nothing about how that works, I'll start searching now, and any additional info would be great!
Edit: Looks like there is no way to do that either, there doesn't seem to be a way to go back. Interesting that the phone got a new bootloader with the OTA update. My Atrix got a new bootloader with its 2.3 update too, but that was because the new bootloader allowed the users to unlock it. I also see that HTC's online unlocker doesn't list the Evo Shift. So it looks like my brother installing the OTA screwed himself out of getting to run any custom ROMs.

You got it man... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... Htc went all moto on us... They even used the same style of 256 bit encryption... Effing ****ty!

Retunr to stock help!

Hi all,
Im wanting to return my desire S back to stock as much as possible. I guess that getting back to complete stock (s-off/s-on, carrier lock etc) might not be possible, but can anyone point to a guide that will work.
I saw this thread but it has been removed and locked bizarrely -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604255
I did a search and ive had a browse but couldnt see anything.
Any help is much appreciated!
cheers!
p.s. thread title error - return* my bad!
by the way i tried the following -
Im in the UK on vodafhone so I ran RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_1.19.161.5_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126338_signed.exe
and got error 155
So i tried extracting the rom from the RUU. whilst running i had to go to temp files and get the rom.zip, renamed it to PG88DIAG.zip which is recognized by fastboot, but this did not work. got a very quick pop up of wrong image etc (after taking a while to load it)
So im not sure where to go. Its currently S-On, is that the problem?
cheers!

see this if it can help

Please Help if there's anyone left, unable to use RUU to restore phone to stock

I keep having an issue where the RUU im trying to use wont move past sending rom. I think its because I can't relock the bootloader. I can't do that because there are no links for ADB...if anyone has any links they can share, or even to a toolkit or anything please help me out! thanks
