MT4G to be launched in Canada as HTC Emerald /w Android 2.3 + HTC Sense

Once system dumps are obtained, maybe a 100% compatible HTC Sense 2.3 ROM can be cooked?

Yeah, hopefully this allows for a bug-free Gingerbread/Sense ROM on our mt4g's.
I take away two things from this. First, it shows just how much T-Mobile SUCKS. Why they insist on having a fugly, customized (read bastardized) version of Sense on their HTC phones. Second, why they can't come out with a Gingerbread update in a timely manner is beyond me. The EVO will have Gingerbread in two months, and that phone isn't near as powerful and came out long before the MT4G! Rant over.
This is actually awesome news. This could give us the kernel source we've been waiting for forever, in addition to a ROM that can be directly ported (much like the Desire HD ROMs).

If it takes till June the Mobilicity HTC Emerald will hopefully be out before then.
And it's running the nicer (IMO) version of Sense!
2.3 is already scheduled for Q2

I love tmobile's twist on sense, I never stay on another ROM (Cyanogen, Desire ports, or anything) cuz they're not like our stock sense. Even if it compromises speed/memory or something, I doubt it's not much what with all the power our phone has. Just my opinion, so an official tmobile release is gonna be rad!

Doesn't matter if Canada have new sense its still sense 2.1 we have alot of roms running Sense 2.1. We just need the kernel and the lib so we can fix all Sense 2.3.3

Good point, yeah all you need is the kernel. Point is it will be out before the update is pushed to T-Mo users.
theres a new ROM now that has the 2.3 update .

They'll be calling it the HTC "Panache".
I noticed the Genius button is gone, back to a plain old search button.
I hope they don't lock down this variant as stringently as the Incredible S. I wonder if there's any hardware differences that'd make it incompatible with a RUU from the MT4G?

Stock Sense is less hungry than Mysense/espresso IMHO. Mysense has genius plus other crap in the background compared to stock so it uses more ram.

Sense has to be the most streamlined custom UI out there.

Inspire 4G Vs Inspire

In England this month the HTC inspire is coming out, is there any differences between this and the 4G? Is it just the 4G that is gone? Will i be able to use all things on the developers forum without worrying that i will break the device? Thanks in advance guys!

Well *laughs* AT&T doesn't send 4G (HSPA+) through the Inspire 4G or the Atrix 4G. The only thing that you would need to watch out for is that most of the ROMs use AT&T radios so you would need to find a dev that will make radios for your carrier or you could just flash a radio that would work with your carrier and the ROM. That is how it works between the Bell Atrix and the AT&T Atrix.
Why would they release the inspire there? Dont they have the desire HD already? Its the same phone

I thought that because of the looks but the HD has a 1ghz single core vs 1.2 dual aswell as Bluetooth 3.0 vs 2.1 and has gingerbread with sense 3. I'd rather wait a few weeks and get the inspire. I would probably get the desire HD if there is problems with inspire and the inspire 4g roms.

Ummmm flashing a ROM in recovery won't change the radio. I've changed ROMs quite a few times and not once have I received a different radio and I'm NOT using the stock radio.
You sure the device will be called Inspire? From the specs you name and the release (dual core, in a few weeks) I could bet it's the Sensation / Pyramid pending how HTC / your carrier will name it on your side of the pond

Inspire 4g is just a desire HD without a front facing cam. You described the HTC sensation. Unless the euro name for the sensation is the inspire, in which case inspire 4g is different.

No, when the GSM version has a stable version so will we. The same developer is working on it for both.
Btw, this is the development forum. Its not for questions.
There isn't a Sense ROM for the nexus S 4G .. that I've heard of at least.
Here's the thread with most, if not all of the available ROMs as of now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071500
If you don't care about 4G, try out MIUI.
And use the questions and answers section, not development
edit: way beat me to it.
My bad y'all I'm new to this forum thing. I'm using miui now. Lol

I thought the point of this phone was to not have Sense...
Or Touchwiz, or whatever custom UI/framework OEMs put on their phones.
But especially Sense.

New HTC EVO 3D LTE RUU with Sense 4

Hey there Dev's...the RUU for the new HTC EVO 3D LTE was leaked and available here.
Since the EVO 3D LTE has Bluetooth 3.0 and is running the latest Sense 4.0, maybe it holds the key to us being able to get bluetooth fully working on our Sensation?
[UPDATE]
Sorry folks for the misinformation...it looks like the EVO 3D LTE may have Bluetooth 4.0 after all...I had thought the EVO 3D LTE had Bluetooth 3.0 because it says so on the US HTC website (http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-evo-4g-lte-sprint/)

They'll release it if they can get it working, but Sense is mostly a proprietary skin and HTC won't release the code. That, lag, and bloatware are why I prefer AOSP/AOKP.

Look in the Dev forum for the MT4GS, you will see a few ROMs already available that have Sense4.x. I've run all of them, and while they look amazing and have surprisingly good performance (especially the Sense 4.1 versions), they do have some little issues that keep me from using them as a "daily driver". For my use, I have found the Sense 3.6 ROM based on the HTC Sensation XE 3.33 code that includes Sense 3.6 to be the most stable and completely functional. But, that's just in my use, your experience and requirements may be different.
I prefer a Sense ROM simply because I love the extra features and "look & feel" that Sense imparts on Android. I've compared plain Android to Sense as akin to a child's coloring book to a National Geographic magazine.
