I created this thread in desire HD section as i own one but thought everyone shold know
All Android users looking for Swype but cannot get it, your in luck. head over to http://beta.swype.com
i happened to be looking at the site and noticed that they have started registering again for beta users. I registered and got Swype beta free. PS its a December 2010 build
SO hurry up before they stop registering.
Register for swype. activate the link in your email and then download to your device. login with your username and password and USE
and its official! Too be honest i looked everywhere maybe finding a working cracked version as i cant use the HTC keyboard because i'm addicted to Swype but no need for a warez Swype. Just register for the Beta.
Beta version works perfectly too. tried and tested last night.
No cracks, no trials, simply an official method of getting swype. Feel free to thank me if this helps!
Make sure if you have a previous build of swype you uninstall
Warning,
Doesn't have all the languages that the old unofficially got Swype 1.6 beta..
misses like half or more for example finnish language.
I got this yesterday its badass
This is legit!
Finally a FULLY working Swype on my Droid 1. I only did the English/Spanish choice.
Thanks man.
Cool. Im not sure what languages it has yet but will have a look later. Just payroll the full version if you are looking for other languages

Thanks a bunch. I've got this on my Desire Z and didn't like it when I used it on my Xperia X10... but it's fantastic! I was just too lazy to go through the tutorial the first time around lol
It seems a lot more intuitive and much improved. I'll show my wife tonight because I signed her up too. This is awesome when I'm too lazy to pull out the keyboard. And it's actually kind of fun. I've been spamming all my friends with random texts

I wanted the DHD but it's bands don't work with my wireless provider. The DZ didn't disappoint though. WOW. Sense is amazing. Using the Virtuous ROM and it's blazing fast.
Can't believe I paid full price for the Xperia X10 and suffered for months with it!
will this work with a resistive non multi touch screen?
only reason i ask is i have swype on my hd2 (capacative, multi touch)
My tablet is wvga running android 2.1 - i would like to be using swype on that too

With Swype yeah. say for example you want to add the word ikhzter into the dictionary, because my name isnt in the dictionary.
Type it in once, I K H Z T E R, and it will automatically add it to the dictionary, next time round just slide the word not tap and it will automatically put it in as it saved it last time.
swype is much clever, instead of clicking add it auto adds, to delete just highlight a word and press swype key to delete neat i know
It still beta though , it will expire by the end of the month
I've been using SWYPE beta in my Motorola OG MileStone 2.1 for about 3 month now , Im reinstalling a new beta from SWYPE website every month now

Hi All.
I've used swype for a few days until it expired.
Now I can't get it to work.
I've searched and all I found was to remove the dalvik cache, uninstall the app, and reinstall it.
Problem is I cant clear the cache since there is no root for the X10.
Anyone has any tips?
PS: If you're going to be thick and say "search" please refrain from comment, as I've already searched and gave this a good couple of hours of my time before bothering anyone else.
thanks!!
PS: swype i'm using is this

hi guys.
i appologise if this has already been done but i'm female and blonde and always nedd idiots guide to do things. soon i'm getting a x10 second hand. can't wait. played with it and loved it. the only thing i'm not keen on is the text imput of qwerty keyboard. i prefer the bog standard phone one. have seen the htc_ime.apk download but was told by carphone warehouse this would not work due to theoftware. to be honest i'd rather take the advise of you guys as you know more about what your doing. my phone is unlocked but prob not rooted and don't want to root it as more likely to stuff it up with being blonde asnd all.can anyone help me as want to be prepared for when it arrives early next week.
thanks look forward to your help and advice.
Firstly congratualtions on being blonde and female lol.

Sign up for this and pray they re release it because its suppose to be the bees knees, unless anyone else knows how to get it?
yes prob something normal people don't admit. thanks. their site is closed but when i sign up they will advise when open again. great will still welcome any other ideas as not only blode and female but now abnormal!!!!!!
I have trouble too. I think they design them for nimble fingered kids. For me the android keypad is awefull, i use the se one which easier. Not to worry, and welcome to the site

totally agree. don't exactly have fat fingers but so use to the old way. had x1 and managed to get the blackstone keypad which was great. but also told by carphone warehouse this would not work. was told there was some kind of text bundle app that had loads of choices of all sorts but can't find that either. thanks this is a great site and will enjoy using it. learning lots already. hopefully will soon be a competent blonde female.
Yes, it is too small for me too. I use HTC keypad and only used to the phone keypad and not Qwerty keypad.

Personally, i dislike swype and htc_ime keyboards... The one im using it and which i love it is the Swift Key Beta from the market and its free
i love it. perfect for big hands like mine
do give it a try.
but if u still wana use swype here it is the .apk attached
enjoy

I'm giving it a try now. Seems old so far, quick input too. Didn't realise some of these keyboard apps we're also key loggers.

i see alot about this handsent. its actually a free app on android market but is it any good? seems to do everything bar putting the kettle on.
i personally use the htc keyboard. tried swype and didnt like it. The stock android keyboard is okay, a lot better then SE's version of it.
Hey, when i downloaded the .apk and uploaded it and installed it on my phone using FileManager, i cant see the Swype app anywhere on my phone. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Go to Prefences and then scroll down until you se Search and click that above Search i dont know how its Named in English maybe Local and Text or somthing like that becouse my X10 is English and then you can select Swype then go to a SMS and click on Write and when the Keyboard is showing hold the left Button down named 12 or something like that then a Window opens then select input Method and then Swype. Sorry for my English i am from Austria and i forgot couple Words so i picked Google Translate for the Words that i forgot.
In my opinion, Swype is probably the best when it comes to typing things quick (I've gotten really use to it and I love it!).
...But it does lag once in a while...
PS- Welcome to the site. BTW Blonds are hot... I wish i was blond...

if you are part of the beta you should have received a email stating there was a new version.
mine expired too. I am part of the beta though, but would rather not have the default theme that it comes with. Default is always boring, hopefully someone will update their themed version soon!
If you look there are plenty of apk's floating around XDA.

I also was/am signed up for the beta. When my skinned Swype stopped working today, I simply uninstalled it, and went to beta.swype.com and *poooff* got my new one, which is 2.4.44.10912.t100 BTW.

EDIT: do you all think that all our Swypes were mass crippled? I've read that Google has an internal method of taking care of malicious apps that way.
Can developers do the same or similar?
I've been searching all morning for a themed Swype, but all I've come across are upset users whose Swypes stopped working.
hhmm.
My swype waas not legitimate. Mine expired. I applied for beta testing a while ago but to no avail. I'm tiresome of chasing hacked APKs. I'm settling for SlideIT even though I do not like it as much.
they never sent me the beta invite?
@organized fellow, Thanks for the version number
I remember hearing that all the swype versions have the kill clock built inside, which will eventually go off. I know 1.56 was a really popular download, so hopefully it was something in the source APK. Google, I don't think has any kind of ability to shut down pirated software yet, but it is on the way, since so many developers complain about their apps being stolen.

Maybe you can help me. I've purchased Ultra Keyboard and have 2 questions that I can't get answered.
1) How do you work the translate function
2) When I use it in landscape mode, using OfficeSuite Pro, I can't see what I'm typing. A button marked "execute" appears, but pressing it seems to do nothing.
How can I see what I'm typing? and what does "execute" do?
Thanks

Hi all,
New to the Android scene. I have an iPhone3gs and am leaning towards the Inspire over the Atrix. Quick noob question. Can Swype be installed on this device?
Yes but
Unless you are rooted (which at least for now looks semi-difficult), you need to sideload it. I haven't had enough posts yet to post an outside link, but you can Google "install swype inspire" and the first hit should get you started.

@antioch216: Thanks. That was the link I wanted to post!
It's very easy. Didn't take me all that long either. I used the Mac/Linux method and it was easy breezy.
Thanks for the link. One other question. What are your thoughts on Swype vs the stock keyboard? I've never actually used it myself but have heard lots of hype surrounding it.
Thanks!
Swype is really awesome I think. It's really easy to get used to. In my experience you only have to use one finger and it's pretty forgiving in terms of the letters you hit.

Swype is much faster for me once I got used to it.... except when it's messing up. Sometimes the autocorrect is just so bad that it would be faster to send the message in morse code, but that doesn't happen often.

nope, no root required. I haven't rooted and I just followed the guide and now I've got Swype!
AT&T blocks the ability to download from other sources (sideloading) and so this program is essentially a work around, but doesn't disturb any original settings. So if anything happened to your phone, AT&T wouldn't know unless the employee knew about this stuff.
Just follow the guide, and you'll have Swype, it's pretty easy

I believe every time you reset, you just have to change the input mode. It's just a default setting that isn't changeable to my knowledge. It happens to everyone
On my captivate, using Swype, when I pressed in the text area, I got a little button to move the cursor around. I get the same type little button with the default keyboard on my Inspire. With Swype, though, I get just a cursor, and I have to press and hold to magnify, more like an iphone. Is there any way to change that?
