Yeah I can't update it via the installer. How are rooted phones going to get the version included in the OTA? Anyone know?

Well if you running sense make sure you update when the dev upgrades the rom (calk, and some other already did) other then that you would have to download the rom(3.70 or above) and look for the apk and see if it works on your rom

I got an email concerning the beta (and got a link to download the beta installer) and it gave me 2.15. I am running CM 6.1.1 with it.

Yeah it doesn't work with Myn's Warm RLS 4. Oh well I haven't been using it much since the Gingerbread keyboard has been available.
thats a negative, i signed up on the site, got into the beta and have successfully used it on Myn's RLS4

That new OTA contains a new HBoot (2.10), so DO NOT FLASH. #1 reason not to flash. Normally, you can easily gain root in a ROM by flashing over or pushing su.apk and some other files, but this is far more dangerous.

Description from the Sprint site:
Description of enhancements/fixes
3.70.651.1 12/15/2010 This update offers enhancements of:
- Blockbuster
- Kindle eReader
- Pre-loaded video game NOVA from Gameloft
- SWYPE
- Scan Now widget for 4G
IT COMES WITH NOVA! Hopefully not a demo. I'm about yank all this and put it on my current ROM (CM 6.1).
What is the usual turnaround on getting an OTA rooted? A day? Less? More?

I would suspect it will be rooted today, maybe within a few hours based on the talent here.

So do we know what has changed in this update? I will find out soon enough. My wife refuses to root and its updating now. Just wondered if anyone has already had the 3.70 experience.

I posted the changelog a few posts up. Apart from Swype and a "4G Scan Now" widget, it's bloatware. You can already install Swype anyways. Hopefully they fixed the 4G issue.

Yeah you're best off either waiting for the first rooted rom and jumping ship, or waiting for Myn to do RLS 5 or something.

PRI update anyone?
I always thought if you were not running a stock rom, you would not get updates pushed.
I'm running Dilligaf. I'm pretty sure since I'm rooted and running a stock rom that the update will fail.
Not sure what to do. Any recommendations, besides just living with the notification?
It's a sense Rom so it will tell you . Do you want the update or no?

Thanks. I don't know if I want it or not, because I don't know what is in it.
If it's for sideloading only, I don't need it, because Dilligaf already allows that.

I gathered that. I just want the notication gone... Last time an update was pushed, i was running a stock rooted rom. ATTN released a new rom with the ota update integrated into it. Loading that rom eliminated the update message.
Looks like I'll have to wait for Dilligaf to put the update into his rom...
I thought the new market update got released last week.
I'm on a unrooted factory Sensation - still no new market here
Has anyone even gotten the new market update?

You can remove updates (market that you install with .apk) and then update to official when update is out for you.
I just got tired of waiting for it and downloaded the latest version for a manual install. From what I've heard, a good amount of U.S. users haven't gotten it yet...
I just got updated my VZ GS3 to the new VRALHE update, posted by scrosler.
Since then I noticed during boot the sound is off from the animation ..is that a problem? Or nothing to worry about
From what I could find out its not a big deal & most people change up the boot animation ..but I am still new at this soo just trying to get a straight answer
Thanks!
The ultra light (or whatever igs called) version?

Sorry, but nope! once you are on custom rom, you just have to wait for developer release version. If you want to take the update now, just odin back to stock EP4, then OTA to FP1, then FP5 then FP8. FP8 stock rom is pretty fast and smooth. Your choice!!
Is there any way to stop the OTA update from occurring?

as stated above nothing is formally supported on FP8, yet.
however, a few days ago I put Tweaked 3.2 on top of Stock FP8 (installed via CWM zip). Got to keep FP8 Kernels and Radios (confirmed kernel with "uname -r")
Nothing obvious broke, Calls/SMS/MMS went in and out... both wifi and mobile data worked.
Disclaimer: only played around with this thing for like half a day. did NOT put it through the paces. YMMV, hack at your own risk, etc.
I wouldn't do it unless you are messing around with your spare phone like i was.... just for grins
For now I'll ignore the update. im sure it's nothing I can't live without.
If you are currently running Tweaked 3.2 FP5 (or anything else not stock), I agree with you 100%.
