Hi, I am getting my G2x next Friday and of coarse, gonna be rooting it as soon as I have it. But I want a plain 2.3.3 OTA rooted rom. No fancy names, EagleBlood, WeaponX and so on.. where or which one can I get? That has everything stock so I can remove and play with. Thank you.
Try the xboarder pretty much stock and debloated

Use this. It's the best stock ROM we have. Super quick, super awesome. Debloated and tweaked for performance.
is this the official ota, or just a leak before ota happend? latest but rooted? just want to get my answers before my phone gets here and because i dont like all that much tweaking of a rom or adding stuff to it just like i noticed with the xboarder link he added that host file adblock, can that just be uninstalled and be back to normal?

or you can try faux's rom and kernel it works well.

There is no adblock. It's an optional add on. It is the official OTA. He just slimmed it down and made it faster. No UI tweaks, or graphical tweaks of any kind
Yeah I was using xboarders tweeked version and it was great Super stable and great battery life no real issues. The completly stock one is good to but the tweek is better. It was my favorite till I installed eaglesblood 1.0.8 that is the best ROM ever made great everything it has a few issues but they are not specific to that ROM no one has figured out A2DP yet to my knowledge. I'm sure they will soon though. I think everyone should use eaglesblood.
Here. This is the OTA 2.3.3 update. It is rooted but that's pretty much it. Still has all the T-Mobile blaotware, etc. Flash it via clockworkmod recovery.

Yea this is the same as the OTA from July/August, its just already rooted. Its not the leaked version from back in April or May or whenever that was. Right now this is the easiest (maybe the only?) way to have rooted 2.3.3 stock rom. You have to use nvflash (check development section for easy-to-use nvflash tool) to flash clockworkmod recovery and then you can boot into recovery and flash this zip.
And note that this zip will not touch your baseband.
Here's a link to the nvflash recovery flasher

Check about phone in the settings when you get it, if your baseband is the march one then you need to run the lg update tool to get the new one.
No other way to get it, and it's a huge improvement.

If you flash a rooted room via clockwork it'll be fine. The official update can't be rooted but nothing can stop you from installing a completely new, rooted rom.

While on XP I've used that .kdz file with the flasher/updater from KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.7z to flash my secondary G2x, you also need to have the APX driver installed from One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-06-16.rar. I've also reverted back to the original recovery before attempting the kdz flash. Once done with it, I had the Videotron branded android and the baseband with OCT 24 2011 date. I tried a simple mobile sim card with it. After adding an APN, the data seemed to work. I was able to receive a call from my other phone. Then, I've flashed the CM recovery (as it was back to stock) using nvflash and then from the CM recovery I've flashed Owain's ICS on it.
I also have a copy of the files that .kdz unpacked (though I'm not sure if its complete).
That's about it.
Oh, yeah, before I had JUL 15 2011 baseband after the GB upgrade.
Also take a look at this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180331
To use the KDZ_FW_UPD you need to disconnect the phone from usb, remove the battery, hold the Vol down button while plugging-in the USB cable. This will force the S/W Update screen on the phone, and the tool will work.
I also reflashed V21E_00.01.kdz with that KDZ_FW_UPD tool and the baseband went back to JUL 15 2011.
Awesome!

Just to simplify things, the thread I've pointe to has all the tools/drivers. But it is a bit murky about the flashing process.
As long as you are on the stock recovery, it should be possible to just remove the battery, unplug the usb, push and hold Vol down and plug back the usb. At that point the S/W Upgrade screen should show up and KDZ_FW_UPD tool should be able to pick up your phone and apply the .kdz

Before flashing do a backup with CWM. Then flash the Videotron KDZ file. After verifying if the SMS issue is fixed you can reflash CWM and then flash back the CWM backup to got back to T-Mobile Gingerbread. No reason to reflash a KDZ as this is the latest baseband available for the P999. I might do it to mine just to get the new baseband. I moved on to another phone due to band issues (needed 850 3G support for a carrier here in Thailand) but I have not gotten around to selling my G2X yet.

Whatver your current rom is if you want to go back to your phone how it is. The sms problem is not in the rom so restoring the rom won't change anything if updating with the patched baseband fixes the issue. All you care about is getting the new baseband. Up to you if you want to restore current rom or flash something else.

I had my S3 replaced today becuase the power/lock button broke. When the vzw rep. brought out my replacement device it had a sticker on the phone that said updated. After activating and checking the building number I can confirm that VZW is updating their stock to a newer version. My current build number is I535VRALG1 and baseband is I535VRLG1. Does any one know if I can flash the previous version in Odin. I am afraid that they might have done this to block our current root method. This is the first I have heard about this current build.
Wanna help us out on IRC?
We need to see if you can root and what your system dump looks like.
any idea on what the update is?
I am heading to school right now and I do not get out until 11 o'clock eastern time. When I get home tonight I'll join the irc if somebody can be kind enough to let me know what channel it is.
Edit:
I see the channels in LLstarks sig I will join in tonight when I get back from school

Radios are unknown at the moment (most likely can flash update no problem, not sure about flashing downgrade). However boot animations ARE part of the rom, just FYI. Also kernels are flashable as well, just has to be done through a workaround method.

Was just about to post the same thing actually. I just had my phone exchanged today and got the UPDATED sticker on it. Haven't tried to root it yet, though. Was going to wait a while to see if this topic came up/new update gets rooted. I really don't want to mess with it either. Just popped in to say that I got the same updated phone.
My co-worker received his phone yesterday and wanted me to root it for him, but it showed "updated" as well - new build/baseband number. To be safe I decided to hold off on rooting till we get some sort of confirmation.

I have managed to update my Nexus-S (M200-Korean) to Jelly Bean.
First I updated with the stock image of international version using this thread

This changed the baseband version from M200 to XXXKl1
After reboot I was able to get 4.1.1 via OTA
I haven't seen any problems so far
Are there any that I may not have experienced yet?

If you experienced problem, look for this thread

I am from Kolkata,India.Using m200 korean model.Have the same problem as the threadstarter.I guess when you're using it smoothly then inshallah,i too would.
Just to be pretty sure, you're telling me to follow ONLY this:
First up, let me tell you that doing this is not necessay to get the OTA or having a smooth JB experience. The JB OTA installs without a wipe which means the data is preserved.
UPDATE: Google has put up the full image for 4.1.1 [i9023, i9020a and i9020t] . Now you do not need to clean flash ICS and then JB. Follow the part 1 of the guide below and flash the JB image instead of ICS. Nothing more to it.
Thanks anshumandash for pointing it out
That being said, I wanted to have the real stock image on my Nexus S and then Upgrade to JellyBean. Below are the steps that I took.
Go to this GoogleAndroidImages page and download the appropriate image for your phone & download. Since mine is an international version a.k.a I9023, I chose that ROM.
The download will be a tar.gz file. Use a utility like 7Zip to uncompress it. The tar.gz will have a .tar file inside and the /tar file will have a folder. Extract the folder to your PC. For my download, the folder was named soju-imm76d
Next Steps will wipe your phone, completely
Reboot your phone into bootloader mode.
Open a command prompt, navigate to the folder in step 2.
Enter the below commands, the image file names are for my download, modify it to the file names in your folder before running (I assume that you have fastboot working)
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-crespo-i9020xxkl1.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-crespo-i9020xxki1.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update image-soju-imm76d.zip

Sorry if t his is a dumb question, but curious. I flashed the new baseband file VRBMF1. Im running a rom that the build was VRBMD3. When I flashed the new baseband file, the build stayed the same. So my baseband is VRBMF1 and the build is VRBMD3.
My wife's phone is stock everything. After she took the OTA update he baseband is VRBMF1and her build is also VRBMF. Just curious as to why. Does this mean Im not getting full use of the OTA update from verizon? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thx in advance.
Build is based off the rom you are running. Flashing the new baseband does not change the build.
