[Q] Build - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Sorry if t his is a dumb question, but curious. I flashed the new baseband file VRBMF1. Im running a rom that the build was VRBMD3. When I flashed the new baseband file, the build stayed the same. So my baseband is VRBMF1 and the build is VRBMD3.
My wife's phone is stock everything. After she took the OTA update he baseband is VRBMF1and her build is also VRBMF. Just curious as to why. Does this mean Im not getting full use of the OTA update from verizon? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thx in advance.

Build is based off the rom you are running. Flashing the new baseband does not change the build.

[Q] OTA vs Leak

I downloaded the leak a couple weeks ago and my baseband Number matches but my software shows 1.12.605.6. Is this right? Isn't the software version that was released today 1.13.605.7?

Cool! Pardon my Newbness when it comes to the HTC world. ( came from Moto). So if I install the update in FBOOT I would just rename the update and put it on the SD card and let FBOOT do all the magic? Also will it wipe data?
Just a thought here... i updated weeks ago with the leaked ruu and if i check "about" software, it says .7. My girlfriends phone says the same. Both rooted and running different roms and kernels. how does that happen? Lol.

I may not be correct, but I think the rom devs use certain software in each of their roms. So some roms are based off the .7 and others are still based off the .6
So if you and your girlfriend both have the .7, its because both roms are based off that.

It will wipe data. I would recommended installing a custom rom. They're all based off of this new build

[Q]How do I baseband?

I'm sorry. I've tried searching the forum and I can't seem find the following:
Where to download the March 2012 baseband
How to install said baseband
Problems with said baseband and if it's worth installing it if trying to flash a rom that says "March 2012 baseband required"
Please help! Thanks!
Your searching is terrible lol, there is no flashing the baseband you have get the whole rom v21y "upgrade" and then you will have 2.3.4 with March 2012 baseband.
There is a post 2 below yours that has info peoples thoughts on the new baseband as well. You failed hahaha.

This is why I'm confused. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602798 This rom says that it IS the v21y upgrade, but that I still need the March 2012 baseband
It is the update, you can't flash a baseband on the g2x, you need to get the update via OTA or LG tool.

It works with the link provided in the 3rd post of this thread only or the stock unrooted rom it comes with.

It doesnt apply to any rom. It only applies to roms that has been built with the baseband. If you update your baseband and try to install an ICS/gingerbread rom thats not made on that baseband, you will get static sound when trying to make a call

That's confusing...
To clear things up... you can only update the baseband via LG's update tool.
NO ROM you find here is able to include a baseband of any sorts and the March 2012 bb, as of now, will only give you clear calls while on the stock 2.3.4 ROM.

How could you downgrade your baseband? I used the restore program to revert back to stock ROM and Recovery, but when I rebooted, I still had the new baseband. What's the Baseband release prior to March 2012?

If you are asking whether its worth trying to upgrade or not. Its a balancing act. You lose ICS sweetness, rather everyother custom ROm beside kwes1020 rooted rom but you gain better GPS lock, longer battery and better signal with the update.

It can be done, but involves running Windows in admin mode and following some lengthy instructions. I'll try to look up the thread.

[Q] If I have VRBMB1 can I flash a rom that is VRBMF1?

Sorry, I'm a total noob. I don't really understand how the "Baseband Version" factors into the ROM/phone operation. Can someone explain it? I have a pretty good understanding of computers but when it comes to the phone it seems very black-boxy -- I'm still learning. My underlying question is:
The BoneStock ROM says: "BoneStock v3.0 (VRBMF1) 6/23/13", my phone currently has VRBMB1. Can I flash the BoneStock ROM on my phone or do I need to upgrade the Baseband Version somehow before I do that? I saw links to different revisions on the BoneStock thread but there isn't a whole lot of explanation about how to use them.
Thanks,
-Greg
Yes No problems. I ran mb1 on bonestock.

Cool, do you know what the Baseband firmware does? Should I flash my firmware to VRBMF1?
I flashed mine mf1 because it really did help signal and data speeds. In my opinion it is worth it to flash the mf1

Did you flash it before flashing BoneStock or does it matter what the order is?
Modem has no relation to what ROM you are on. You can flash whichever you want first, doesn't matter.

Stay where you are and update your firmware to mf1 and just update the modem to ml1 and me personally still have what I consider to have the best rom by @andybones titled bonestock rom which is still 4.1.2 coupled with the only theme by team bandit. But if you have to have the latest and still retain your unlocked bootloader then flash old and slowes "mostly stock" rom. Any thing later than that may result in a locked bootloader and that's not good.
Hoped to be a slight bit helpfull
