Hello all, I just upgrade my Captivate to Froyo and it took out the root I put in when it still at 2.1. I try the same root pack but did not seem to work. Is there a way around or an update root pack for this.
Thank You

You have to side-load the application which can be found on XDA.
I have a full video on this in my video archive if your interested. I recommend the Z4Root mod as well...

Just find and download z4root.apk onto your mounted sdcard in the root folder, then download a filemanager in market and use the file manager to browse to the file and install it manually, then you just run z4root app and you'll see the option to root/unroot

The Samsung Transform has the same vulnerability as the Epic (joeykrim-root.sh works to get root).
So how would I go about rooting? Would I use the same process as the EPIC 4g?
if you're good with linux, you can follow the directions in this link forum.sdx-developers.com/epic-development/adb-root-exploit-test
(The mount command is slightly different in step 4.)
I'm running a mac. I tried several guides on the sph-m910 rooting for mac osx but it won't let me push any files to the phone with adb.

Have any of you successfully rooted it using this method?
I have successfully rooted my brother's Transform using the same method I used to root my Epic 4G... same files and everything.

From what I am told and understand it must be mounted and run in linux. I will find out as soon as my local store gets one in, I'm first in line.

I don't mean to be a ****, but what app have you installed that requires root access? I have a specific one, roam manager, that will not run. I believe you may have seen visually that it was rooting it, but it does not do squat.

Rooting Help
Can someone give some detailed instructions on rooting the Samsung Transform???
I agree with cachorropedorro, I'm looking to root for wifi teathering also..... Tried a few methods also.... No luck.
Guys, I've never rooted a phone before and this is my first android. I looked a the Joeyconway version of root.... I'm having a hard time following the command prompts??? Any suggestions?
Is there going to be a transform category? Are there other pages about rooting this new phone??
I was able to root my transform using the ocr joey krimm root method, the drivers for the epic finally worked after restarting the phone, one thing i noticed about the transform was that the ratc script takes longer to work and does not always work. I modified the bat file to have a longer wait after running the ratc file, however that doesnt even work all the time, if you manually run the ratc script and then run the bat it should work thats what i had to do. I also updated the su bin and the busybox version from the current version of the one click root because the files in the ocr.zip have an older su bin that doesnt use superuser.apk and the busybox is not compatible with ti backup.
Mark920,
Can you give some more detailed directions for all of us that are newbees? Like I said in a earlier post, I've never rooted a phone so some of the things you were talking about like ratc script confuses me. Any detailed steps would be awsome.
now that we have a great "one click" root for the T-mobile G2. and im finally confident enough to go through and do the root for the phone. and lone and behold visionary is taken off the android market. NOT COOL! and i tried supposedly downloading the app, and drag and dropping it over to my phone. but i must have done something wrong because i can not find it in the apps. im new to this whole android rooting thing. and have had a little experiance with jailbreaking the iphone in the past. but this is a totaly different animal and i dont want to screw it up. so please guys any help? i need a how to for dummies at this point.
Update: Temporarily removed the r12 download link while a couple of people on XDA fix a non-booting issue
Info can be found on the modaco website, sorry cannot post the link since my account is not verified yet.
you can find info on it here: http://android.modaco.com/content/t...350/10-nov-r12-test-visionary-one-click-root/
since you're not using the market to install it you will need HTC Sync to install it on your phone OR put it on your SD card and use a file manager like ASTRO File Manager to browse your SD card for the .apk file and install it from there

how about a tutorial to do it the easy way... with a custom rom or kernel via heimdall! (heimdall for reliability and cross platform compatibility)
this will all be irrelivant once 2.3.5 drops. and for all new phones from here on out. superoneclick doesnt work on 2.3.3+ and win no rageagainstthecage (what makes superoneclick work) you cant push su and superuser nor can you push modded recovery and root with an update script. it all needs to be done externally and flashed with the availible flash tools which is quicker and easier to begin with. (easier for the end user anyway) but thanks for the effort.
We should get a sticky on this thread.

Thank you SOOOO Much!!

Which app are you using to browse? You have to grant Super User/permission to the file browser (some don't support this) before you mount r/w. Check the settings is the file browser, it may be something you missed

In the market there is an app called root checker, that will tell you if you have root access and whether or not busy box is installed. Once you have confirmed you have root access, open "Root Explorer" not manager, there is a difference. That will give you the ability to change to r/w in the top left once you are in the system files. Also you should automatically see superuser pop up and confirm that you are granting root explorer root access when you start it.
Good luck.

I used this method to root my phone. I actually found this method to be a lot easier than superoneclick. As long as you follow the instructions in the first post of the thread you should be okay.
BUT, if you have permissions problems (or if you're not sure what they mean by "run the batch file"):
Right-click on cmd.exe in the start menu, select run as administrator then navigate to the folder extracted. For instance if you saved the file in your users downloads folder then navigate to: x:\users\[user name]\downloads\Skyrocket-Easy-Root and then type root.bat and press enter.
If you need help with that method, let me know. I didn't bother with superoneclick.
Try this from Copperhead! Worked beautifully!

OneClick 4.0.4 - Can't root!
This is the first time I've rooted or flashed on my Skyrocket. I got tired of AT&T sitting on their asses with ICS and found OneClick's 4.0.4 UCLE2.
I was able to root with Odin and CWS on AT&T's stock 2.3.6 and backup my data with Titanium, and need my WiFi keys back... but I can't root again!
Odin and superuser.zip has failed after 13 attempts, SuperOneClick freezes on my Windows box (I use Ubuntu 12.04 on my Main box), and Skyrocket Easy Root fails because of permission issues. No method here works.
Am I doing something wrong, or is 4.0.4 un-rootable at the moment? I need the WiFi key for work and the only person with the password will be in Greece for two weeks!
I also can't force /system into r/w mode, with any tools (won't show up in bash, Total Commander can't mod it).

with superoneclick are you using zergrush?
zergRush = fail
I need to find the setting to get emailed when someone posts to a thread I'm involved in.
I tried zerg and it didn't work, but updating CWM to 5.8x and the 3.x version of superuser.zip did the trick.
I read in other threads that the screen flickers and the keys don't work with the touch interface, but I got it.
Now I just need to figure out how to do a batch restore with Titanium and get my Uverse, WiFi settings, and Opera bookmarks back.
Thanks for asking Decepticaons: So far I'm happy with 4.0.4, but was expecting individual contact SMS tones to be available... perhaps there's a ROM for that?
Hi All, new to forums. No one else seems to have had this problem, or am I trying to open it wrong? I try to d-click the batch file runme.bat to get root access but it won't open as the message says it's not supported on LG-Optimus L7II dual running Android 4.1.2. It opens in Win 7 so it proves that the file is OK. Hope I get some info on this, thanks.
Hello,
.bat files are Windows/DOS batch scripts that does not (generally) work on Android.
Most likely you have to run that .bat file on the Windows computer with your phone connected.

Thanks heaps Cyrus_pc, Had to use Cydia Impactor a few times to reroot, worked perfectly. It gained root but Root Checker from Jacksoft labs
said no root. So did search on xda forums (can't Remember thread to thank them) and used terminal to type SU and check root(thanks). Also, used Root Checker by joeykrim and that does work.
If I can indulge a bit about other problems with my phone model LG Optimus L7 II Duo P716, this may help others. I first wanted root access to use Titanium Backup and Rom Manager before using LG update to see what was new and roll back if needed. Bad move, Rom Manager wouldn't backup or boot to recovery mode just kept Factory resetting and loosing settings(what a pain).
Fix this from xda thread from Blackzair with (CWM Recovery on LG P&15 L7 II Dual) boothack+recovery.rar to load Gscript.apk. Got into recovery even though as he said screen is upside down.Tried to load a CM 10 but it didn't take, will have to check boot image version.
Thanks again to everyone
