[Q] Cant get Fascinate into download mode help!

I have a Samsung Fascinate that will not boot, i get a black screen with a cellphone a ! in a yellow triangle and a computers. The 3 button method will not get me into download or recovery! takeing out the battery and plugging into usb with the volume up button down doesnt work either. I tried plugging it into the computer but adb nor odin would detect it(yes i have the right drivers) please help ive hit a wall

Try plugging in with the battery out and the volume down button pressed until the download mode shows up. Btw may I ask how you got yourself into this mess?

as stated in the first post i have tried that method to get into download mode. and i got into this mess trying to get clockwork on the phone (did not install properly) and trying to put samsung fasinate (verison) rom on it... oops lol?

Actually in OP it says you pressed the volume up button. Volume down is what gets you into download mode.

BTW i got stuck with one of the awsome fascinates that will not 3 button recovery/download

Found the solution that worked for me. I had to plug in the usb hold volume down then pop in the battery to get it to go into download mode.

Ohh usually it goes with the battery popped out.

That is how you get into download mode on the Verizon Fascinate. Why are there all these guesses all over the internet? That is how you do it.

Was trying to reimage this phone using Odin v1.3 a usb malfunction error message came up Ive been trying to use it to several computers since then, but the same message kept coming up and of course the odin could recognise the devise and i went up turn the phone on normally all i have is a black screen with a phone and yellow explanation and computer logos on the screen the explanation sign is in between the phone and computer logos and now I can not do anything with this phone...I think my only option is for somebody to help me to find some image that will run on the SD card instead of the USB port.

Take out your battery, insert USB cable, hold both up and down volume along with the power button. Insert you're battery. This should put you in download mode. If your screen remains black, listen for the phone to connect to your computer any way. If you see it in Odin...try rerunning Odin. Odin can be a picky beast. I always connect my chord in a rare usb port...seems to help.
Good luck. Don't panic. At most, you will have to get/make yourself a jig to get in download mode.

So, I got soft bricked. I tried to odin back to stock but ive tried every three button combo to get back in to download mode with nothing working. I try pulling battery then holding both vol keys then inserting battery and then plugging in usb cable while its plugged into the computer and odin is running. Ive tried every other variation of this as well. I have no idea what to do next, please help. Plugging in the USB after holding the keys only brings up the SAMSUNG screen. I can three button into 3e recovery but of course that is no help. Please help

Follow my first signature link. Read it all...a few times.

Try volume down, put battery in, plug USB cable that is already in PC into phone.

Yeah, I tried that as well. I read that thread and didn't learn anything new. I've been through soft bricks before, many times but never have I lost download mode.

If your getting recovery then download mode is not gone..... put your phone inrecovery mode, if you know how to use adb, or even have it, open command prompt and type: adb devices to see if it recognizes your phone. Should say xxxxx in recovery mode or something. Then type: adb reboot download. This will probably be the only way you will get to download as it sounds like your buttons remapping got screwed up somehow...

Tried it, adb detected nothing. I don't have cwm, I have unmodded 3e. Adb didn't detect any device and I never had USB debugging enabled. I bought a jig off eBay as my last hope, any luck with these?

Samsung Infuse issue

I went ahead and tried to return to stock my samsung infuse using heimdale. Now here is my issue, it rebooted because it failed but it will not come up. I have been holding the power button but I do not see the samsung logo come up. Can someone help me on this issue. I have let my samsung attached to my computer

Have you tried entering download mode again?

yes nothing comes up. I think I see a flash but that is it no samsung logo nothing

anyone can help me on this issue

Do you happen to remember in what partition it exactly failed?
Maybe you need a jig to enter download mode, or you either have sadly bricked your phone.

Take your finger off of the power button.
You won't see a Samsung logo when going to download mode.

Yep just to be sure. This is for (odin) Take out battery to turn it off then replace. Hold the volume up and down buttons and plug in your cord and even if you don't see anything. Or if you do it might be a triangle with a explanation mark. Which is good its in download mode. And on the computer screen with Odin it should say added in the big boxed area

Ok I see the Download screen and the triangle which Odin do I use?

You can use either odin or heimdall packs, all located on the iset thread.
Odin packs should include the odin program.

Phone not staying in download mode and recovery

Phone will go into download mode for a split second then reboot but not boot up. I would have to do a battery pull to get it booted all the way. Phone also will not go into recovery mode.

Is something wrong with your volume button? That sounds more like it's broken since you can't boot into either download or recovery.

It will go into download, just only stay for a second.

Do you have any issues with your volume buttons while using the rom? When did this start happening? Also, did you do anything that might cause this to happen?
When you hold volume up, home, and power to boot into recovery then release the power button once it vibrates, what happens?

Once it vibrates when i try to go into a recovery, the screen just go blank,

Volume buttons work well. It's just the power button that's a little wonky. Also phone turns on when battery is placed in.

power button maybe stuck down, making it turn off when in recovery and on when battery is installed.

I thought it might be stuck too but when phone is fully booted into rom, it doesn't go on and off like the buttin is stuck.

I'm running into the same problem. I actually took my phone apart and checked the power button, it is not physically stuck though. My power button doesn't work at all, but it still pushes in like it's supposed to. Very odd

Running the latest goodness build. I wanted to try a different rom to see if it was linked in any way, but obviously can't do that. Lol

I got it to stay in download mode 1 time. Unfortunately I needed the phone to download a stock VRBMB1 firmware. Hopefully i can get it to do it again.

I'm going to try it when I get home. Where you able to get into download and/or recovery mode without it rebooting itself?

I was for a day or two. Now I am back to where it constantly boot loops if I try. Any insight on the matter?
