I need to be able to do this through a computer (pc). Just to let you know I cant install any app threw the market i cant put any type of ROM or kernel on internal or external it wont read the memory it won't mount using a usb cord. my phone is cut off by any means of installing downloading or even accessing memory. Also did a factory data reset and i have no more apps than what the phone came with and still no memory.

I have a T-Mobile G2 with stock 8GB microsd card. I was recording a video about 45 secs into it and all of a sudden the phone froze, I am not sure if it got full caz just before taking the video I checked and there was ~1.8GB free space. After a while an message came up saying "Please insert a SD card" (something along those line), so I figured my card must be full.
So I decided to go try and delete some file on it, only to find out all my apps installed on SD card was now unavailable, this is when I started to worry. I rebooted the phone, no luck. I shut it down and removed and replaced the SD card, no luck.
Plugged it into a Windows PC (Win XP 32 bit), it would see it in My Computers for few seconds and would disappear, even if I try to access it, it was just disappear.
I have some pictures and videos that I had taken on vacation which I really need, any ideas?
Currently as a temp solution I have a 4GB Microsd card in it and everything is fine (obviously, apps still not available), but I need the data from my original 8GB as this is my main concern, please help.
Btw, I have tried using recovery software such as Recuva and testdisk but since windows won't even see the drive I cannot use such software.
Thanks a ton.
if the sd not detected in phone or pc, maybe the sd card already dead.
anyone please?
Thanks
Im not sure what else can be said. If you computer and phone cant see the card, then it's probably dead. All you can at this point is attempt to do a quick format of the card and try to use the recovery software on it to see if you can restore the file structure

Yeh that is my last resort, but the problem is I cannot do anything as the drive disappears 2-3 seconds after windows detects it and when I try to do anything to that drive it just freezes for a while and closes itself.
any ideas??
if you have a digital camera insert the micro-sd via adapter make sure though to unmount the micro-sd via CWM for example, you should now be able to format the micro-sd card over the menu of your camera. if this doesn't work there's still hope you can try to format it on a linux based system but for now try to format it on your cam
Regular recovery methods won't work too good on an sd card, they were meant for spinning drives. Flash memory either works or it doesn't usually. Try cleaning the contacts and using different card reader/adapter combos. Try a linux live cd etc. If it's dead or corrupted, your kinda stuck. Even a format worked I wouldn't trust it again.
After an ODIN to KC1 stock, the phone no longer recognizes the external SD card and says it is not mounted -- but when it gets to the home screen, I can see progress messages saying that the phone is actually reading the external SD card.
Also, the USB port doesn't work right. When I turn on USB debugging, messages alternatively flash in the top status bar that USB is connected and USB debugging is connected, even when the USB cable is not plugged in. When I plug the USB cable in, I do not get any dialog in notifications allowing me to turn the USB on. If I turn USB debugging off, I can see an external drive in Windows explorer but cannot access it.
Now, when I try to turn on USB debugging, the phone tells me to disconnect the USB cable -- but it's not connected.
The phone, if turned off, does not want to boot unless I plug the USB cable in. It is very difficult to get a connection to the phone so that ODIN will run. Sometimes I can get it into download mode but ODIN won't recognize the phone. Sometimes I can ODIN when the phone displays the cell + comp error message.
ODINing KD1 stock gives the same results. The phone was not like this when I first got it.
Where should I go from here?
wow. thats a lot of problems that i havent seen yet. i would say start back fresh. remove the sd card and format it with your computer. then put the update.zip from krylons cwm, ext4 converter, and icbinb (or w/e rom you are flashing) on it and leave it. odin to kc1 from raver. let the phone sit for 10 min or so and then push the recovery file from krylons final cwm to the right place. once you do that, shut the phone down completely. put the sd card back in. it should only have those 2 or 3 files on it. reboot recovery, wipe everything, check your mounts, flash the ext4 converter and then the rom. let the rom sit for 15 min after that initial google boot sequence. once that is done, reboot reboot recovery and fix permissions. and see if those problems persist.
Do I need a driver for Windows XP to be able to write to the sdcard once it is converted to ext4?
The sd card isn't bring converted to ext4. Format it with it's default settings. You can always create an ext4 partition, but right now we are doing something else

do I odin KC1 with the sd card in the phone or should it not be on the phone? I had it in the phone when I odined KC1.
since you had it in before, try removing the sd card and the sim card and odin. i never had a problem with them in, but some people have experienced problems.
got CWM installed after reformatting sdcard from phone using settings.
After reformatting the 16 gig sd card, the phone would still not mount it. I thought there might be something wrong with the card, so I found an old 4 gig sd card from another phone and formatted that and the phone was able to mount that card. For some unknown reason, the card is named “Blackberry” even though I never had such a phone. I could not install CWM, so I reflashed KC1 with odin, this time with no sim card or sd card in the phone. The phone still would not connect to the USB ports on my laptop, but on my desktop at work, it will connect.
The phone recognizes the SD card and I was able to move recovery to system/bin, but when I try to install packages, I get the following error message:
E:Can’t mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(no such file or directory)
E:Can’t mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted
I checked /dev/block and sure enough, there is no mmcblk0p1 file.
Looking up that error, I have found threads and fixes for other phones, and one suggestion to format the sd card from the phone. I did that under settings after copying the undotted files and directories to the computer, and copied those files and directories back to the sd card.
I then did a recovery reboot and reinstalled packages. Finally, CWM installs.
thats pretty random, but im glad its working! let me know how the rom flashing goes!
So then I installed ext4 and the icbinb rom via CWM, but the phone just hung at the bootscreen until I went back to CWM and installed the Bali 3.3 kernel, which I had stuck on the sdcard just in case. The phone then booted up and the usb port now seems to be working properly, at least when connected to the computer at work. The root problem was the sdcard, which needed to be formatted from the phone and not from the computer. I'll have to see if I can get the other sd card to work. I still can only see the external sd card from windows, but maybe that is just the way this phone works. This is a big relief. Thank you very much for your help.
Now, all I have to do is get my Vibrant working. I took it apart to replace a broken screen and there have been all kinds of problems since. But that's another project.
you will only see the external memory on the sgs4g. you will not see the internal memory, as it is reserved for the system rom and ram
Does the 4G not have an internal SD card like the Vibrant?
The phone still has a few problems. The biggest one is that it will not start unless it is plugged in to a charger or usb cable, even if the battery is fully charged. I think for some reason it is not reading the battery and doing what a phone with a discharged battery would do. I forgot to take a charger or usb cable with me today and I got no phone. I haven't tried recalibrating the battery yet, maybe that would fix the problem. But at least the phone is running like an xda-developers special with all the bells and whistles now. Thanks.
No, the vibrant has 16gb on board, the sgs4g doesn't. you can only access the sdcard from the computer.
If battery calibration doesn't fix that startup problem, it may be a hardware problem

I was going to post this in the AOKP rom page but i figured it'd get seen more here and maybe its not even a problem related to the rom. I recently installed the AOKP rom located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831858. everything was great the first day then i started getting random reboots and losing my data. So I flashed a back up and still got the same problems. I lost my data yesterday, fixed that by manually changing the APN settings and everything was fine other than still getting random reboots. today I went to take a picture and it says "no external storage". I opened root explorer and I can access my EXTERNAL SD card but not the INTERNAL. I tried to mount in via the setting, storage menu and it wont mount. Also tried mounting in CWM recovery, no dice.
Is this a hardware problem or something software related? Anyway to get my stuff back or is it gone? I thought about trying to format it through recovery but how can I do that if it wont mount? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm about to go through and install a "clean" copy of this ROM hopefully. Or I might try another ROM I know works like it should.
Installed a new Rom. Everything works perfect so far but still can't access my internal sd card. Any tricks how to get this back or do I need to just turn it in for warranty?

Warranty may be your best solution, you'll have to revert to stock using kies/odin which may on it's own fix your issue.
Are you also receiving the "Blank USB storage or has unsupported file system" error?
I have been battling this issue for a friend of mine (I own only the I9300) and I believe I have somewhat of a fix. It will allow you to use an external SD card.
If you can use / access the external SD card on your phone then disregard this message.
If you can't access any of the storage, including the external SD card try following this short tutorial I made:

The internal SD card is essentially part of the motherboard. If it's corrupted, you have no choice but to warranty the phone out. Kishke's right in that restoring to stock might be your last, best chance.
USB Storage and USB Debugging will not mount to Windows 7 PC or Mac
*I'm posting this thread because I have exhausted every option discussed on the internet*
One day I decided to wipe more than usual using TWRP. I wiped Internal Storage and Android Secure. Ever since then, I have not been able to mount USB to my PC. No PC computer on planet earth will recognize my skyrocket. "Unkown Device" is all I get. Every USB cable, every USB port, every PC, every Mac I have tried. I've tried every driver set, I've tried formatting my PC and reinstalling fresh samsung drivers, I've tried Kies, I've tried formatting my SD storage, I've fixed permissions and wiped everything known to Android. Odin will not detect the phone without working windows drivers and neither will SuperOneClick. I'm out of cards. Game over. Every other function of the device works just fine, and I've gotten by using my 64GB external SD card as a means to transfer files between PC and phone. Come to think, this all started when I put that 64gb SD card in my phone and tried to format it and everything else in TWRP. External SD card works, but nothing will mount.
Before I explore the final possibility that the USB plug on my phone is physically damaged, I'd like to know if anyone out there has had any problems with USB mounting as a result of TWRP wiping and/or External SD Card installation/formatting causing things to go awry.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will donate to anyone helps me solve the issue, as I need to be able to sell this phone with a clear conscience.
Thanks!
What version of twrp are you using. I saw another post where it wouldn't mount internal with 2.4.0.0. Seems it might be an issue with that version.

It was using 2.2.3 at the time. I feel strongly that this is an issue with formatting the internal SD card via twrp while adding an external SD card to the phone. I believe the system partition responsible for mounting the phone is corrupted. Maybe a re-partition is the solution? If I could somehow restore the system partition files. I am an avid flasher but partitioning is beyond my scope. Maybe someone can point me to a guide about partitioning.

Hey man did you ever resolve this issue? I just erased a bunch of folders on my internal SD and it won't mount anymore. I'm using a Droid4 and, of course, the problem is consistent on both ROM and stock.
I guess for now I'll have to download from my dropbox account.
Cheers
I'm on the Note 2 (N7100) and have the same issue. I formatted internal storage in TWRP. Now USB is not detected on any pc. Any updates?

Yesterday I tried to partition my internal storage using minitool because I was getting a insufficient memory message from the google app store. Everything worked out fine and the partition had been created, I turned usb storage off and when I went to pull the usb cord from my nexus s I got a message saying that my internal sd card had been damaged and asked me to reformat. I dismissed the error message because I did not want to format right there but after that my phone can't detect my usb storage (16gb internal) and neither can I connect to my computer and access the files on my phone. I'm using paranoidandroid 3.00. Even when my Android debugging is on the phone still can't connect to my computer. And I've tried to unmount and mount using cwm a number of times but that isn't working either. I also tried to factory reset the phone but I still can't detect my usb storage. My phone basically says I have 0.98gb total space. I have no access to my internal storage at all. I can't flash any different roms or flash anything for that matter. My photo gallery is also saying that I have no external storage available. I need to fix this ASAP. What can I do to fix this problem?
Similar problem
I'm having a similar problem. Switched to a different phone and gave my wife NS4G, so I wiped everything, including the external storage via TWRP v2.4. No problem connecting to my PC, but on the phone in settings>storage, there was only 0.98 in Internal Storage and 2GB in USB Storage. No clue what could've caused that. Currently searching the web for answers, and will report back if I come across anything

I fixed the problem using Wugs Root Toolkit. I didn't want to just sit around and wait till a different fix just magically appeared. Basically just had to flash back to stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 using the toolkit and unroot the device and then do a factory reset. The SD card got formatted after doing all that. You should try it out. :good:
