I have Permanently Rooted using RyanZA's s4root app. Just for general info on my part can I unroot using the One Click Root thing or do I need to use the z4root app?
Thanks
Use the same app.
Thanks for the reply. Another reason I asked was when I did Root using z4root app it froze on reboot and I had to remove battery to get it going. It did indeed Root the phone but I thought I might try the One Click Deal just to perhaps save me a battery removal step.
From my understanding, "permanent" here just means that the program will not need to ask for access again. It is reversible using the same program you already used.

Permanent means I think that if you turn the phone off(reboot) it won't un root.

I did the temp root a few weeks ago and disabled some bloatware through adb. I've since rebooted several times and the bloatware that I disabled does not show up in my app menu. I'm guessing it stays disabled. Btw, I have fastboot enabled if that makes any difference.

Oh, I also used this video to help me out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t9AXZWcFQU
If you just follow the guides/video, you should be able to do the temp root and disable bloatware. That first guide will get you set up with everything that is required for doing the temp root, the second guide and the youtube video will help you actually do the temp root, and then the third guide will help you disable apps. You can post in those threads if you need help in any of those steps.
First read this. It was stickied to the top of the forum you posted in.
Second, more adb help here.
Third, best method for temp root here.
Fourth, tool to disable packages here.
If you uninstall from Titanium they will return once you reboot. Disabling them they will stay disabled (but installed) unless you wipe your phone.
If you cant figure it out after all the info is provided, please go here.

Hi guys,
Is this root solution safe to use on my device?
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-tab-7-0-plus-wifi-gt-p6210-root-63530/
Would it brick it and if so, would there be any way to restore the device?
Thanks

That is the method I used to root mine, there is a thread for it in the development section. This only roots the device and does not put a custom recovery in place, you have to use Gary's method for that. You will also need to install a copy of superuser once you do this and that is available in the market. The device can be restored using Odin which I have not had to use yet so not sure how it works but there is a thread for that in development too.
there is another root package that i create come with superuser and busybox so you dont have to download those manually...
What's the likely hood that it will brick my device?

Less than a fraction of a percent. All it does is put an su binary file into the system/bin folder.
Device now all rooted and working.
Is it me, or does a device run slower when rooted, I might just be making things up? lol

Its your imagination as all it does is give you administrative privleges and is not an app or program that uses resources.
Hello!
I am currently in Greece on holidays and I am trying to play The wolf among us on my Nexus 5, but I need to use GLtools to get past the black screen error there currently try is.
I do however not want to root and reinstall my phone, and have no pc.
Is there a way to temp root my phone with an app or so? I seem to remember doing that on my older phones
There is no temp root.

It's not a temp root but it accomplishes what you're looking for: rooting your phone without your PC and without wiping your data.
As the article mentions make sure to install SuperSU or Superuser right after running it because it does allow root globally by default.

Any root is temporary. Put in stock recovery via TWP app. Take out SU~BB =stock

The definition of temp root is you have root until you reboot only. But sure, by your reckoning, the word permanent doesn't exist.
Can rooting can cause entering of malware into your mobile (with root permission!!)? Are malwares are more powerful in a rooted mobile? Can it be avoided?
Refer the #45 point in the below link:

What about the very popular chinese tool which roots your android device within minutes! The softwares installed by these chinese tool are found harmful by the quick heal antivirus.

Note: I am not blaming any dev. I just want correct information about the same.
Thanking you in anticipation
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Yes, rooting your device makes it less secure. It allows apps to access a lower level of your system than the manufacturer intended. But you usually have to allow root access to apps so if an app is requesting root and you don't know what it is, don't allow it.

I rooted my phone through the popular Chinese tool, and quick heal antivirus suggested to uninstall the Chinese super su. What should I do now?
An other method to root my phone?

Just downloading it will replace the chinese super su?
You'll have to run it. It should update the supersu binary.
Installation failed

OK, see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2434453 There is a section on how to use supersu to replace the binary. It's a little more involved that I originally thought.

That thread has been closed because the software was injecting malware and connecting to remote server...
And also there is no solution to my problem of not getting updated.
All right, see this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l3-l5-l7-l9-ii. And Aguayo this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2429931. You might want to return your device to stock to get rid of all remnants of the root method you used and then start all over.

Thankyou that one is very useful thread.
I want one suggestion-
Should I first flash the slimsystem's rom and then root it again and unlock bootloader etc.
or in any another sequence?
iamrohanreddy said:
Thanks for using xda assist. I would say that I would actually prevent malware as whenever an app uses root it will prompt the user grant it root permission. And even if it takes the permission the superuser app will show a small toast on the screen. If u are still unsure I would recommend u to download cm security as an antivirus from Google play store. Hope it helps !!!.

This quote is from the crash root thread, my mini is on SU4.21 screen shot of status below, if I can unlock or get root and bypass the hotspot block unlimited data please provide a link to the thread that explains how to to it, thanks!

By the way if it is not clear to newbies, if you are fortunate enough to get a phone with SU4.21 instead of SU6-x, do NOT, I repeat do NOT flash VZW-4.4.4-SU6-7-release-keys.xml
Because then you are taking a valuable phone that can unlock the bootloader and forcing it to upgrade and it can never be downgraded again to SU4 from SU6
ie. the SU6 cannot unlock bootloader at this time, the SU4 can via sunshine
you CAN root the SU4 but it is using a different file than in this thread

This is a screen of my new droid mini, when I run sunshine it passes but tries to temp root and just reboots, never gets past rebooting. Can you link to the info on unlocking SU4.21 you mention please? Thank you

Kingroot did the trick, and I used an app that I have on my moto x to bypass the hotspot block, also froze the ota app so it wont update. All is fine without unlocking it, but when it reboots the root is gone and I need to rerun kingroot, is this the way kingroot works, or should it maintain root through a reboot? Im not sure I like the idea of leaving kingroot on the phone, I will probably unlock it with sunshine and do a factory reset and try rooting it a permanent way, thats something I've never done before, I mean install a custom rom and root that way. Do I need to install a custom rom in order to root permanently? Id rather not do that, but if its the only way than I will attempt it.
Thanks

No if you use sunshine then u can perment root without installing a custom ROM I know on my droid turbo after I installed twrp and ran it the first time it will ask you first thing if you want to root swip yes and it's done permently I assume it's the same way with the mini
