Help with D2G themese - Droid 2 Global General

Will all d2 themes work on my D2G
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App

I would recommend proceeding with caution. Someone in the Gingerbread theme thread reported it bricking his device.

it sent mine into an infinite bootloop. luckily i got it to boot into bootstrap and fixed it.

sbf out yet for D2G? I wouldn't mind trying to port once the sbf comes out. Would hate to brick someone's phone....

still no sbf...sadly

when theming you are changing parts of the framework-res.apk, that being said their may be issues using this part or other portions of the framework from the D2 on the D2G because the hardware its self is for sure different and justifiably the framework will be different

The theme is on page 2, it has been tested and it works.
Which rubix version?

It is for the newest 1.9.5
So are you theming blind off of framework etc? I mean you dont actually have a dx to test with?
I have one, I would theme off of 2.2 but with the new update, I get nervous when I do things since to sbf, you have to go back to the leak. But it should work, my themes on froyo worked great

I have the .340 system sbf you can get it also if you get the donate app from Team Black Hat in market or if you google it Im sure there's a link. I don't think you will get to many takers when you won't risk flashing your device with your own work.
i know i wont get many takers, thats why in my first post, i said i know probably no one will, I know about the system sbf but if you get stuck in bootloop what is difference between system and full

System only overwrites the /system portion of the operating system wile the full sbf overwrites everything from root ( / ) as well as the bootloader, baseband and radio

So if I did put this on my phone and say i did get in a bootloop could it be fixed with system or do i need to use leak full
Yes a system restore will fix bootloops its why it was released to ease the pain theming.

Dude seriously... STOP posting themes you created here and one the Droid X forums YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO TEST YOURSELF.
Stop theming for a day or two and learn how to SBF and restore you phone just in case YOUR theme puts OUR phones in a bootloop.
Yes a system restore will fix your bootloop as it restores framework etc. As Isaid earlier that's one of the reasons p3droid and team black hat release these system sbf files. To help themers by giving them a safety net. Get your phone updated to the .340 system files. Get you the
.340 sbf and thoroughly test your theme before asking our community to assume the risk.

ok thanks for your help i decided to just go for it and it worked so here it is. this is my only my second theme so im still learning so i still haven't Figured out how to theme single apps and get them to install with theme but I have the rest themed. The single battery works on some boots which is weird and i dont know why. other then that here it is.
Donwload in attachments
any help on things like theming single apps would help alot thanks
Looks good so far. As far as theming your apps I recommend apk tool or apk manager and winrar. Winrar will let u open ur apk and drop your edited images in and one of the apk tools will optimize and sign your apk. As far as installing it u need to update your update sctript to include system/apps. Or if they're GApps just theme them sign them as a non system app and make a zip of them to be installed separately by the end user.

First of all, I did nothing wrong, i didnt know that i could of just used the system sbf. I didnt want to go to the leak on the full sbf. I KNOW HOW TO ALL I NEEDED WAS AN EXPLANATION, THAT IS WHAT THE POINT OF THIS SITE IS. Then besides coming here wasnt enough, you get me banned on droid x forums for just asking someone to test it. If they tested it, they knew they could have a chance of bootloop, thats why i just ASKED! And then if asking to test wasnt enough, after i get it tested, every time i post on droid x forums, i get banned. So plz stop posting on here when i ask questions.
I am amazed you don't see an issue with what you are doing or rather did.
YOUR ACTIONS GOT YOU BANNED not me. I never said "ban him"
If you would have tested your own themes in the first place all of this would have been avoided.

You should try flashing the Generic SCH-I500 Froyo Roms, and see if you get 3G. I highly doubt Element has the DJ20 Odin flash, much less a 2.2 version. If the generic roms don't help then you could always flash CS EB11 Odin again... OR ship it to Samsung, wait a week for them to flash it back to DJ20 and return it to you.. I certainly hope others are seeing the consequences of flashing things not specifically for your certain device. Especially with all the "Galaxy" variants out there.

Try one of those Two ways.. had a buddy in the same situation. He sent it in, they reflashed DJ20 on it and sent it back to him no charge. Not saying they wont charge YOU, but that's what happened with him... either way you have nothing to lose..

ICS back to 2.3.5 fxz fix zip file -- Files pulled --

Here is the zip file to apply to the 2.3.5 fxz, to make RSDlite flash the FXZ files properly, from the ICS leak. The steps are the same as they were for the 2.3.6 fix. Just unzip these files over top of the original fxz files.
+++++++++++++++++++++++NOTE++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I have pulled these files, so that no else attempts to flash the fxz and brick thier phone. DO NOT ASK FOR THE FILES, I will not give them out knowing what happens to those on ICS that try to fxz back to GB.

LOL... You forget I had to think of several ways to possibly break this before I posted it for the rest of the world, so if there were issues, I knew what to do... How do you think I was able to flash that whole process 4 times... I built this yesterday afternoon, before I even started the process of testing the OTA out. I HAD to make sure we could flash back, so we were not like the OG Atrix guys, who can't flash an SBF now.
Thank You Jim, you are awesome.

the first time it would not boot, because the lbl file and the mbm were not loaded, and it is critical in this move back.... they have done something to the BL, to make flashing a little harder. I did a hex dump and a decompile of the new mbm file and it has a spot in it that looks like a check for correct lbl file being loaded from the fastboot flash.
The issue with the recovery is because it flashes a new recovery, and that was on the second time I had to flash the fxz, due to a bad root...

Did you use my patch to patch the 2.3.5 fxz for the ICS leak that I posted yesterday?
I am thinking the secret is using a script and not RSDlite. That is how I always restore my phone is with my own scripts, that I was getting ready to release before all this started.

ICS Brick Method Poll

Hey everyone,
We are currently trying to figure out exactly why some people are hardbricking when the attempt to flash from ICS to 2.3.5 and why others are perfectly fine... we'd like to hear from all the people that attempted to flash back to 2.3.5. Were you using RSD Lite, or a script (what script)? We would much appreciate it if all of tell us your preferred brick method in the poll above, or if your A2 is still up and running .
Also feel free to reply with extra information about the script or xml file you used in the attempt.
Thanks for your pacience in the matter.

Is there someone out there with a fix for this hard brick issue or is willing to find a fix for this? I'm stuck with this hard brick, many other phones have fix for hard brick, even Atrix 4G with JTAG. Why isn't there a fix for Atrix 2? What is stopping us? I'm not a profesional, I really don't mess with these things like open the phone and solder wires, but if someone manage to unbrick a hard bricked Atrix 2, maybe he/she can let us know how to unbrick it.
Trust me man. The devs are working hard on getting a fix for us. And I am sure that if they find a way to "Un-Brick" the phones affected they will. We will be the first to know.
Remember, this is on their time. Not yours. No offense, but you need to be grateful for the time they are giving us, of their own accord.
For now, try not to hijack the thread and let's stick on topic. Cogeary is just trying to get info to HELP us fix this issue.

You could try and contact someone on this list of RIFF Box - JTAG owners... maybe get lucky, or start a project with someone. It looks like our device could possibly be supported:

Or, check the out the dealers list, and buy a box and learn how... but it'd probably be cheaper to buy a new phone.. (thanks to hankbizzo5 for dropping the link)
p.s. - With all of the bricks dropping around here, someone with the ways and means could/should start up a little company "resurrecting" A2's and Motos... just a thought..

Not all the FXZ files are exactly the same. darkmixta is on an international released phone, so the fxz for that is different from the AT&T US one, that is why some fxzs have more steps and others have less.

Our Atrix 2 (not mine now - so sorry) come from many markets with little bit of hardware and software difference, so be careful to post anything here. Maybe it works well on your phone but could give a hard brick on the others.
I think people here should be patient and wait until some testing and confirmation from our trusted Devs. This is extremely time sensitive !

This is the RAZR bootstrap... and just because it boots doesn't mean its working...The current bootstrap we have boots under ICS but isn't fully functional. This is your second time posting a fix with out doing any research. If a newbie spotted this thread, they might install it thinking it works and viola they have a bricked phone. So please unless you REALLY know how to fix things and have dev experience please don't post every possible fix that MIGHT work.

And I'm dead sick of people respecting my work :|.

It's not you or your work. It's the fact that there have been a lot of hard bricks and we need to be extra careful about releasing anything for the ics leak. It needs to be tested by more than one person. It might work for you but not someone else. We are all being cautious, that's all.

I locked to stop with the arguments but I will leave the links. As always if you brick your device its no ones fault except your own. We all choose to mod our phones with the risks it posses. If he says it work I'm not inclined to say it doesn't. But devices vary by build and region so to everyone be careful.
