***THIS IS OUT OF DATE SINCE THE EE25 BUILD WAS RELEASED. I AM WORKING ON UPDATING THE PNP FOR IT. I HAVE RELEASED EE25 ELSEWHERE, BUT CS HAS HAD BUILDS PULLED FROM XDA SO I WILL MORE THAN LIKELY NOT RELEASE FULL BUILDS HERE FOR CS PHONES. CHECK OUT THE IRC ROOM FOR MORE INFO***
This is the PnP for the Showcase. It has the EE23 modem with it that needs to be flashed with Odin. Download. Unzip. Flash the modem in Odin. Put the ROM on your sdcard and flash in CWM recovery. It is CWM 3.x friendly.
This one is different from other PnP's for the Showcase in that I've changed a few things to make it a little more generic so that maybe we can keep this one around this time. Boot animation and sound are generic as are a few other things, but it should function better than the previous build. Let's try to keep this one under the radar so CS doesn't take it away from us again.
Big thanks to Baked Tator for the power options and puzzle lock on this build. I'm sure he'll be working on some themes for it as he gets time, also.

Just to make sure. This is for the cell south showcase only? Or will this work on the Ntelos I think it is?

2 noob questions...........
1. Will the modem will work with Heinz 57?
2. when flashing with Odin, where do I put the file. I assume it goes in Phone but would rather be safe than bricked.
thanks in advance!!

Good thing I asked first
What's that about CS taking it away from us. I wasn't aware anything like this was happening. I switched from PnP to Heinz 57. Can CSouth disable our phones or something like that? Sorry for all the questions. I'm new to all this.

No, the deal was, I got hold of the EB11 build and posted it. I also made the PnP from it. CS found out about it and came to XDA and made them take it down. To try to keep this from happening again, we're taking this approach. I just built the ROM and added the modem update with it hoping that maybe would leave us alone. As far as I know, CS can't disable you phone just for having a ROM on it other than stock. They can deny your warranty if you screw the phone up, though.

Since I don't have a Showcase I can't really talk to the changes in the modem personally. Generally each release has bug fixes. I'm not sure if this one helps gps like other new modems, but it's possible.

Well spoken.
Thanks for this & all your other great [SHOWCASE] work.
Really looking forward to this one. The more generic, the better!
I am on PagePlus/VZW network so not concerned about CellSouth, but very concerned about bricking my phone. I have not been able to get 3G/data working on PP/VZW so
far...wondering if CS has restrictions built into rom blocking data connections with other carrier? Can a baseband be locked into a carrier?
Anyway, I know how to install/recover using odin, but having trouble finding original/stock [SHOWCASE] files including DJ20 modem/radio in the event I screw something up. Looked in the mesmerize sticked how to get back to stock ODIN and a million other places. Do these files exist in the wild?
I am a long-time lurker and thorough searcher, really surprised I can't find anything.
Any and all assistance totally appreciated. Thanks again!
Umm yeah we could never get our hands on the DJ20 stock files but did get EB11 (Froyo) thanks to Phidelt82. We only had it for a while though before CS pulled it. And since you have the showcase you should never flash anything from verizon or us cellular, I.e. mesmerize and fascinate.

Thanks for the info & tips
Sorry I missed out on the EB 11, I googled around a bit too see if I could find a copy anywhere but so far no luck, but I am currently caffeine impaired
Really surprising. Hmmm... Can't recall ever hearing of a carrier blocking development on the boards. I did notice many showcase threads that google finds have been removed.
I am in NY far out of CS range. Got the showcase cheap from someone who told me it was a Mesmerize. So I don't mind it being a guinea pig & recklessly flashing.
Tried a couple of fascinate roms & they ran fine, but still no data. The primary gateway appears to be locked/reverts to CS settings. Others have flashed showcases to cricket with full data, so I know it can be done. Perplexing tho... my quest continues. LoL
Already LOVE the showcase! way more than my evo. Totally appreciate all the work developers & other users share with us here. Gonna flash this new one as soon as I have coffee
Nice to meet you all
Android 2.3 Software Number EH17 From USCC... Its posted on their site

Not working for some reason.....
I have tried to update...but Kies mini is telling me I have the latest version lol
You can take it to a store tech center and have them reflash your phone with it if mini kies isn't working.
Mini kies has been a flaming hot mess more often than not with these updates, so a full reflash at the store is probably not a bad idea anyway.
Strange....Its been taken down!

Bottom line: Our developers and users have moved to Rootzwiki. Its still the same users and developers that were once here; same usernames and everything. Everyone's there. Just a new location (and new management).
Whats done is done; the mass exodus has occurred and it can't be changed. So lets quit talking about it. Get on the Rootzwiki boat or stay in ghost town. Your choice.

No kies on my Samsung N150 Plus netbook, just installed USCC_I500_EH09_SimpleDL from the US Cellular android upgrade section. Followed instructions (except for battery life, performed this with 81%) phone rebooted, all apps intact including acircuitboard live wallpaper, root apps, contacts, calender, etc...., EXCEPT ROOT ACCESS! Super User gone baby, verified with root check app. guess I'll give GingerBreak a try this weekend, heck I may even try SuperOneClick again to see what happens. Here's a trick for you warranty voider freaker outers, if you brick it, just tell your provider you lost the phone and pay the $50 or whatever dollar insurance claim and get a new GXS.
Obviously no root access, it's a stock official rom.

My Phone Is in BootLoop/HardBrick Was Useing Odin One Click To Revert Back To Stock Froyo I Do Not Remember What Version i Used But I Think It Was Made From DesignerGear But Here Is What Happens And All The Info I Have Collected On It.
1.Power Button Does Nothing
2.Both Volume Buttons And Computer Usb Connected Goes to Battery Sign
3.Down Voulme Plus Power Button Does Nothing
4.Wall Plugin Goes To Att Logo And Flashes Every Couple Of Seconds
Would Like to Know If Its a BootLoop/HardBrick And If It Will Be Able To be Fixed
Also Bought A Jig But Wont Get here For A While But If you Think The Jig Will Fix It Then Please Post If It Will
I would suggest you take a look at the "Captivate Connection Issues" thread if you haven't already. There might be something there for you to try.
If you have the battery screen still showing and it appears to actually be charging the phone then you should be ok. A jig should most definitely get you into download mode and from there you can flash back to stock. If this is the one click you used, it's never failed me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989

Just to make the OP fully aware, the one-click listed above does flash froyo bootloaders.
If that's not something you want to do, you can check the one-click thread sticky at the top of the Development section.
Very true. As long as you aren't intending to stay on a stock ROM, roms like cyanogenmod will come with gingerbread bootloaders anyways though.

Unless it's a build I'm not aware of, the roms I've come across (cyanogenmod included) usually don't have bootloaders included.
The roms with bootloaders are exclusively Heimdall/Odin packages, as you have to use one of those programs to flash the bootloaders (with the exception of an old Cognition build which had a modified secondary bootloader, but that's a dangerous thing).
Not trying to be obnoxious or nitpicky, but just want to clarify that bootloader changes need to happen outside of flashing roms in CWM recovery.
Maybe I don't understand bootloaders like I thought I did then lol. I've never had any problems flashing between stock, CM7, and CM9. And I've never manually flashed any bootloaders either?

No problem. If you're going between builds of CyanogenMod, you usually can have either the Froyo/Eclair or Gingerbread bootloaders - CM doesn't seem to care. If you've never flashed a stock Samsung rom that includes bootloaders, you may still be on the Froyo/Eclair bootloaders (and if you've flashed the one you linked most recently, you definitely are).
The issue comes up when you're flashing Samsung-based roms, as a mismatch between bootloaders and Android version can cause some unfortunate behavior. Nothing fatal, just more steps to get things sorted out.

You must be on GB bootloaders because ICY glitch requires them. You probably were on stock gingerbread at some point. Also, bootloaders are never flashed from the phone; it can't touch them. You always need Odin/heimdall for it.

Hello. I just bought an S II LTE on Docomo. Am I right in assuming (I decided this in a fever dream of tiredness last night, so I don't know where I saw it) that ROMs designed for this ATT version of the phone will also work on the Docomo one? I know the buttons are different, but perhaps the ROMs take that into account?
If I'm in the wrong place, does anyone know which ROMs I should be using? There doesn't seem to be much talk at all of my version. Quite worrying; don't want to stay on GB!

Just google things
Do you doco users have your own kernels I bet
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
It's called the SC-03D, it's mostly the same as the Skyrocket. Docomo is the network,
Since I posted this, I tried flashing a Skyrocket ROM on to it. Since the radio frequencies are different, I couldn't use mobile internet. (calls and wifi worked fine) - and because the buttons are different (the Japanese version has a physical home button, and touch buttons for "options" (whatever it's called) and back - whenever I pressed back, it acted as if I were pressing home.
I assume (as someone who knows nothing about these things) that the button thing would relatively easy to fix in a slightly modded ROM. They're the same buttons as the first Galaxy.
Now, the real question: How easy would it be for a modder to set the frequencies? Is it just a question of changing a text file? So then: Can I help? Is there any diagnostic app I could run on my phone to get the info required in order to make this ROM happen? I'm hoping someone could slightly modify the most recent AOKP and re-pack it as a Docomo variant, with not too much time or effort on their part. If there's anything I could do (as someone who lives in Japan and has this variant of the phone), then obviously I would help as much as possible.
Does this sound to anyone like something that could actually happen?

All kernels and radios are in the development section.

Mine aren't. At least, not that I've seen. Mine's the Japanese (SC-03D) model.

You'll have to find stuff for your phone.
Your phone is to different from the skyrocket. try the sgs 2 forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1055

The Skyrocket is the closest phone to mine that actually has a section on XDA. Mine is a Galaxy S2 LTE (only with different radio frequencies and different buttons on the front; everything else is the same - Skyrocket ROMs work on my phone, apart from the bits I've already mentioned), not a standard Galaxy S2.

So you're asking us to go up and down the web to find files for your phone while you watch TV or play video games ? haha ... Advice for a newb : look for the files for your device , it's your responsibility , and come here to ask legit questions ... These forums cover US and international devices , when it comes to a Japanese phone , do you're homework ... The advice for flashing your phone own kernel and radio , with a SR ROM was valuable...Don't ask for more...

I mentioned in an earlier post that I flashed a ROM: It's safe to assume that I know how to flash a zip file in CWM. And I wasn't rude in my response, so what's the issue?
Do you think I haven't searched for the files myself? Why do you think I'm here? I'm asking here in case people more knowledgeable than myself have come across the same or similar situations, since this phone is the most similar to mine. To be told to "google it" is hardly useful, is it? That was obviously the first thing I tried.

Ok so how do you assume anyone here can invent a ROM for you ? If you googled and found nothing, it means really nothing...your device isn't popular here so no files for it (at last in the xda)...
Good luck

That's why I asked if there's a way to extract the radio and kernel from my current stock ROM.
If you can get the partitions description table for you device you can make an img for both radio and boot...
But that's not guaranteed to work however...
Number 2 if you delete radio and boot images from a stock skyrocket ROM zip you will only be flashing the system...just delete modem.img , amss.img and boot.img (never forget also to delete the recovery.img) ... This way the zip flash can't find the radio and kernel to flash them with the ROM..But I can't guarantee you'll not end up with a brick or if you're lucky with a boot loop !
