[Q] Help!! GPS stopped working! maybe related to setCPU - Captivate General

hello guys,
'
im in deep s***. so i have a samsung captivate. and one day I accidentally hit the "power save" setting instead of "conservative" setting. and after boot it slowed the whole phone down to unusable. but thankfully i manage to crawl in and change the setting back to conservative.
everything seems to be normal now, except GPS!
now it hardly sees more than one satellite, and if it does, it shows all of them on top of each other in the north, and NEVER gets a lock.
what do you guys think is wrong? and how can I fix this? (
thank you

Search for the JM9 GPS fix. Install this with clockwork mod, works with stock rom even.

Thanks for the reply but I am currently running Cog 2.1.6 with Atinm's v1.10 build. I havent reflashed my phone in quite some time but was wondering if this JM9 fix also works on my phone with the build I am running. I searched the forums and it says this is for Eclair JM9. How do I find out if this is JM9? My baseband version is I897UCJH7. I assume my phone is JH7 so this will not work, however, you also said that it works with stock rom which is JH7....so I am a wee bit confused here.
Thanks.

[Q] Can't lock on to gps MIUI???

I have the MIUI Freshly Squeezed but I can't get a GPS lock. I can't even get it. I tried the way posted on xda that seemed to work for a lot of people but it didn't work for me. Any ideas???

This always works for me on CM7.1. I know MIUI is based on CM, so it's worth a try.

You "tried the way posted on xda that seemed to work for a lot of people but it didn't work for me"..thank you soooo much for the detailed description of what that method was haha. There are a good amount of fixes out there for GPS and you provided nothing as to what you have actually tried so i'll just assume you did nothing and start at zero.
1. try Crypted's AGPS fix in the dev thread. It works.
2. if you're using a case and it covers the space between the flash and camera, take it off and try to get a lock either before or after using crypted's AGPS fix
3. try the other guys method above me.
4. buy a map.
forgot to mention
5. Go outside with your phone.
but yea as mentioned we need to has more details from you. How you rooted, how you flashed your rom
also you didnt restore any settings from a previous rom did you?
i was a noob over the weekend and restored wifi passwords that werent compatible and broke my wifi radio. had to wipe and reflash lmao. just making sure u didnt restore anything relating to maps or gps

SGH-I727R Help ?

Hey all !
I've bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Rogers, here in Canada. The model on the box clearly states SGH-I727R. I've managed to get it rooted and I've installed Sky-ICS 7.04 custom ROM on it. Everything went fine but I'm having a small issue.
The 4G signal keeps dropping. I can call just fine but about 10-15 seconds after the call ends, 4G drops and I can't use data anymore.
Everytime I want to use the Internet, I have to make a call first then I can use it but as soon as my phone goes on sleep mode, 4G shuts down and I've got to do it all over again. I've tried calling Rogers Tech support but they told me I'm registered on the network and that I should normally be having signal.
I'm pretty sure this is a newbie question but I'm new to Android and I haven't found much help by searching the forums so far.
Edit : The "Turn on Plane Mode" thingy doesn't work at all. Also, Rogers Tech suggested to manually search for a carrier and select Rogers but that didn't change a thing. Also, selecting Automatic Mode doesn't do a thing.
search for forums for the darkside script, and the ucla3 modem. reboot into cwm amd under mounts and storage format cache, data and system. Then flash darkside. Then ucla3. Then skyics. Reboot and let phone sit for 20 min, then reboot again. report back to us :-D
Been a couple hours now and it's still up and running. I'll post results tomorrow morning.
Thanks a lot :-D
I'm guessing my instructions worked then. Hit that thanx button bro ;-)

I let my phone recharge overnight. When I woke up this morning, it wasn't working. Rebooted, still wouldn't work. I had no use for it so I let it sit on my desk till I got to work. As we speak, it appears to be working. It seems intermitent but it works twice as often now O.O
What I did :
- Flashed DarkScript
- Flashed UCLA3 Modem (How come is that file like 350mb?)
- Flashed Sky-ICS Speed 7.0
- Applied Sky-ICS 7.04 Update
Anything else I've missed ? I've seen another post where someone explained the same thing but with UCLA3 Kernel + Faux Kernel. Should I try that ?
ur flashing a ucla3 rom lol, the radio is only 20 mb. Ur flashing a rom ontop of another rom, no wonder its not working

I dunno, I did a search on the forum for UCLA3 modem. Ended up with that file, which is weird because I was expecting a smaller file too. Do you happen to have a link to that file ?
Search for this radio " REX_MOd_LA3" and give it a shot..

Nope. Still no luck. Flashed DarkScript, flashed UCLA3 Radio then Sky-ICS 7.0 and 4G still drops randomly.
Not sure what's left to do at this point ...
This seems a very useful topic (at least to me )
So what is the sequence of flashing? :
1. ROM
2. script
3. radio
Do we have to wipe the data every time we flash each of those
Are you doing the wipes that were suggested?
After all this flashing and running different stuff you've probably got loads of crap in your caches.
I believe the order is
1. Script
2. ROM
3. Radio
but I did Script, Radio THEN ROM, which I believe is incorrect, unless I am mistaken

Yes, I did the wipe as suggested. Anyway, I think DarkScript does it for you aswell.
You just need to start over, wipe, Odin stock.

Reinstalled Stock Rogers ROM. Did all previous steps. Tried to flash custom Boot Animation instead of TPC V3 animation (Yeah, I switched from Sky-ICS to TPC as I thought I'd check if it is ROM-related...). Phone was stuck on Boot logo for a good 15 minutes. Pulled battery, re-flashed using Odin + Stock ROM. BSOD while flashing.
Go Windows !
I'm re-flashing using Odin.
I'll keep this thread up-to-date as much as possible.
Edit : Flashing worked. Yay for unbricked phone !

The last two steps are independent of each other. It doesn't matter.
Start again from stock though.

Seems to be working so far under TPC V3, starting from Stock ROM + DarkScript. 4G icon disappears when under WiFi(Which is normal, I guess) and reappears whenever it uses 4G(SMS/Call).
Problem solved, so far ! We'll see how it's going tomorrow
Thanks a lot to everyone for the help, really appreciated. Great community !

BusyBox Update failed

I'm having an odd problem, and I'm not sure what to do about it.
This morning when I woke up, I noticed that there was a BusyBox update in my notification bar. Upon trying to update it failed.
So, I uninstall BusyBox, and try to reinstall it, but I'm met with a message that I don't have root access. Upon checking with Root Checker, I DO have root access. But, now all of a sudden, my wifi is not working, when it has worked flawlessly up to this point.
I'm not sure what to do. I don't have a nandroid backup to roll back to, and I need my wifi to work. Would doing a factory reset and flashing a new ROM solve this problem?

What ROM are you on...Gingerbread or ICS?
you must be on a custom rom or you on stock, rooted?
---------- Post added at 04:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:40 PM ----------
ok need to go into CWM and flash these files, should correct it, I had this issue on a ROM dont recall which one or it might of been on a rooted stock....
but before you do anything.....
download these files and put them on your sd card of the phone, NOT THE EXT memory card, you are gonna flash them like you would a ROM ok, in cwm, you can flash them back to back while you are in CWM...kk
download this file first and flash this file first: FLASH ME FIRST
download this file second and flash it second: FLASH ME SECOND

check the MIUI thread...

I think MIUI occasionally loses recovery. Possible kernel issue.
Read through the thread to see if you can get some additional info.
I'm not sure if it has any bearing on your wifi..possible.
If you know how, you can try extracting the kernel from MIUI rom and reflashing just the kernel using SGS kernel flasher to retain your data.

I definitely don't know how to do that haha. I'm a noob when it comes to this whole game, although I'm slowly learning.
Do you think doing a factory reset, wiping everything, and then flashing a new ROM might fix my issue? I did want to try out one of the new ICS ROMs, so if that will fix my problem I might as well go ahead and try one of them out.
Flashing Uniporn seemed to have fixed my issue. I first re-flashed MIUI and that didn't solve anything, so I guess the issue was with MIUI? Just odd that the wifi would drop out after using it flawlessly for 4 months.
Oh well, got something new to play with again. Thanks for the help guys!

Yes i have tried fixing permissions in Rom and Outside of rom within Recovery still it was still a no go. But i may take the shot of Downgrading to RC1 The Re upping to RC 2 I may have some chance with that. Other then that, I will keep you all posted if its a go or no go.

Sorry to hear that, it is a GREAT ROM. Although there is not a lot of difference between RC1 & RC2, if you can live without some of the mods, RC1 is still AMAZING!
Yes RC1 is Amazing, so is RC2 . Hmmm....What Recovery are you using ? Still trying to figure out why your having this issue.
EDIT: just saw your post on the thread, and read about it maybe being a server issue
I'm having this same issue; I've also done everything suggested in this thread but it keeps force closing on any of the Modifications options. I guess it's not a huge deal because I don't even know what I'm really missing but it would be nice to have some more stuff to tinker with. Other than that, love the rom!!!

The only problem I have with that is that for some reason I can't get Odin to work on my phone. But its also been a while since I've tried as well. Is it BC I've flashed many different ROMs and installed and uninstalled apps with residual data left over?
