[ROM-DEV] my WIP roms cm6.1.1/miui

These 2 roms are far from finished but this will give you guys a chance to play around a bit and possibily offer any insight on possible fixes
Both of these roms include my 1.51 ghz undervolted kernel
Which I have been getting stellar battery life from
Installation
​
place the rom anwhere on your sdcard (preferably the root)
boot into clockwork recovery turn off phone hold down voldown+power
wipe data and cache
then install the rom
note first boot may take a realllly long time just wait for it

Finally get to try out MIUI. Never could cuz i had a HeroC and couldn't play with my wife's EVO. Thanks BC.

i think you should join the cm team and manage the offical cm7 support for shift 4g
the second there is official support is the second i go buy the evo shift and sell my evo.

Should be able to install the HDPI ones from their wiki here

CM didn't work for me. This is my first non-Moment ROM so I'm sure it's me.
I flashed CM from recovery. It said it completed fine. Selected reboot and got the CM boot screen. Got excited. Got less excited when the boot animation restarted on my. It then kept restarting until I pulled the battery.
So booted into recovery and cleared Dalvik. Rebooted. Same thing. Tried reflashing CM and cleared Dalvik then rebooted. Same thing.
Should I do a factory reset first? Can anyone see a step I missed?

def do a full wipe...always when flashing a rom unless you are just flashing over an update of the same rom

bcnice told me how to fix wifi i am uploading a rom with the fix now.
edit: for MIUI obviously

Flashed CM7, now i dont have internet (mez)

Last night i flashed CM7 on my us cellular samsung mesmerize and today when i go to use anything with interent it does not work. Not the browser, not facebook. I am kinda a noob so any help to fix it would be appreciated.

try rebooting? if that doesn't work try reflashing, maybe try a data wipe as well.

did you try a data wipe? that often fixes issues like this.

I did, but when i do it it comes up with an error cant mount/ datadata or something to that affect. Any idea what i could do to fix that?

Um. Try going to mounts and storage, then mount everything.

This issue has been addressed with lmartin92, and I'm in the process of testing a new build of his to see if it will fix the 3g issues for some mesmerize users. As soon as I know something I'll post it.

If you're losing 3g connection, copy ect/ppp/ from Heinz57 and reboot, a complete wipe may be needed also.

I just tried that. It didnt seem to work, i even flashed it multiple times.

ok kids, we got it resolved, it was a kernel issue.
You can copy the redbend_ua from any mesmerize rom into the cm7 kernel_update folder and change any references in the updater.script from "bmlwrite" to "redbend_ua"
Then enjoy gingerbread with 3g.
Of course, I'm sure lmartin92 will repost the fixed cm7 soon if you aren't savvy enough to get those instructions done.

I copied the redbend_ua from Heinz 57, went into the updater.script and replaced all blmwrite's to redbend_ua and i still got nothing. Hopefully he will post the updated version soon.

[Q] Why does my screen come on by itself?

The lockscreen whether its charging or not comes on by itself at random times and sometimes several times in a row. When its not charging, it obivously kills my battery. I thought it might be related to the rom im using, but i have tried several different roms and they all do the same thing. Another thing is my speakerphone will come on by itself when i answer a call. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

any ideas?

Sounds like something is set to turn the screen on. Do you have any custom messaging apps? What rom are you running? any mods? please provide as much info about your phone as you can to help find the issue

Right now i am running Android Revolution. When i first got the phone it had the Ingersoll Rom installed and i don't remember it doing it then, but since then i have tried, coredroid, rcmix3d, virtuous, honeysense, leedroid and they all do it. I have both "s" off. No i did have chompsms installed a while back, but have done several data wipes since then. No other mods. It is eating the hell out of my battery by doing this and i am starting to regret trading my iphone for it.

I would flash a sock rom and see if it does it. might be a phantom file that is not getting over written. If it doesnt do it then then reload the rom. are you restoring any system data or apps?

Honestly for this phone I am not sure. Check the stickies in Dev section, I am sure you will find it there

Trying the TPC stock optimized rom for the day, ill give details on it tonight.

Ahh, i give up. It keeps kicking car panel on. I am getting so frustrated with this. And no rom has fixed the speakerphone coming on automatically.

Sounds like you have a device issue, car panel should only come on when it is plugged into the car dock, might be a USB port issue

Sorry to hear ur issues. I can understand ur frustration but don't leave a general remark like this, cos what u r experiencing could be a stray issue due to some random app.
Anyways, coming to ur issue, try this once:
1. Format ur SD card
2. Copy the Android Revolution 5.1.10 (I am saying this ROM cos I've been using this since 5.1.7 and its been good all along)
3. Go to CWM console
4. Do the factory wipe option (data/cache wipe)
5. Go to advanced and wipe the dalvik cache
6. Flash the ROM
7. Reboot
Do NOT restore any apps or data using TiBu.
Let me know how it goes. (I am subscribing to this thread )

2. Reg. car panel, I heard this issue on here many times on different ROMs. U cud simply freeze the app or delete it altogether if u r not using it. And like Zel said, this could be cos the charger u r using has current coming through that's around the same range as that of car charger.

Is it possible the sdcard is bad? I am about to format and reinstall android revolution right now. Ill post the results.

OK, flashed Android Revolution. The speakerphone still comes on automatically. Will keep an eye on the screen to see what it does. I have not any installed any mod, or apps yet. Totally clean install.

OK, it didnt do it as often, but the screen still came on. I'm not 100% sure, but i think it came on as data was being used? i noticed the data arrows moving. Formatting and flashing coredroid now and testing.

1. Did u restore any apps?
2. Do u have any of ur apps on SD card?

This is strange... Hearing for the first time. Could u pls post this on the Android Revolution thread and see if anyone else faced this issue. As far as I can recall, I don't remember seeing any such thing on that thread.
Edit: You could try re-downloading the ROM zip. Sometimes zips can be corrupt too.
This time when u try, please backup ur data on SD card, and format it fresh, and load only the rom zip on it.

[Q] wifi issue on JB roms

Greetings guys. I'll skip the bs and tell you what my problem is. I just rooted 2.20 like everyone else and everything has been mostly fine but when I flash any JB ROM my WiFi doesn't work. I've tried flashing different stock ROMs in which the WiFi does work then wiping from recovery and reflashing jb but no dice. I've also tried fixing permissions and every other solution I've found via search.
Making a thread is a last resort as I know you guys are being flooded but any help would be much appreciated.

Try the 10/25 experimental nightlies CM10. Have heard this fixed wifi issues with most people

Any jb Rom? Are you having the same issue on aokp or miui

I don't get any errors. It just doesn't pick up my router. Although when I disable all security on the router it picks it up just fine. A totally unlocked router is out of the question though.

Are you sure you don't have SSID disabled?
try it using WPA/WPA2 security

Yeah. I spent a good long while tinkering with my router and even factory reset it as well as tried every security type, changing ssid, hiding it, the works. My old iPhone picks up the router just fine, as does my laptop. This leads me to believe the problem lies with my phones ROM. I'm gonna try to flash a couple of the ROMs suggested to me once my phone charges.

So Ive flashed the experimental CM nightly released on the 25, MIUI v4, AOSP Nocturnal Dirty Rom 4.1 as well as AOKP JellyBean. Still nothing. Im sure I'm forgetting a couple too.
Don't really know what else I can do at this point. Ive tried different gapps packages too just in case that could be it. I might have to abandon all hope of running project butter right now. :crying:
Damn shame too, I really really like AOKP JB

Are you on 2.20 firmware?
Did you wipe System and Factory Reset, then flash the Boot.img, then the ROM?

Yeah, that's the standard protocol Ive been taking with every ROM I flash, even ones of the same kernal type. Reboot to recovery>Factory reset>flash boot.img for that ROM>reboot to recovery and install.
I did a complete wipe system and everything just now and still nothing.

And while on JB your phone doesn't see the router, or just unable to connect?

It doesn't recognize it at all. Unless I completely disable any kind WPA/WPA 2 security. Back on stock unrooted Sense it would pick it up just fine though.

that sounds like a legit issue, you should probably report that to h8rift in the cm10 thread and see if anyone else has the issue.
out of curiosity what type/brand of router do you have ?

Update: Now running Cleanrom and everything seems to be working properly. I'm gonna stick with it for a little while until I can figure out how to run JB with wifi.

It probably won't help.. But have you tried updating the firmware?
I had an old D-Link and wifi worked fine on JB based ROMs for me.
a WBR-2310A to be exact

I've had the same issue in every aosp ROMs however on my phone i do get the WiFi to work. It takes me a while but I eventually get it. What I do I turn WiFi on and off, leave it off for a minute or so, re start my phone, after phone starts I turn WiFi on and most of the times it does it, you have to have patience

Depending on ROM an kernel, WiFi scan intervals are up to 5 minutes apart.

On CM 10.2 9.27 nightly since this morning. Didn't have any issues all day til about an hour ago or so. Flashed 9.26 & 9.25 - didn't fix the issue. I can receive SMS, data works, etc. Should I just assume it is some sort of Verizon issue at this point? Thanks!

Is ur MEID AND IMEI in tack match the numbers back of ur battery .. I had the same problem in pacman my easy fix was to go back to liquidsmoooth.. before i changed roms i did wipe catche dalvik factory reset

Are they supposed to be the same number.
IMEI matches up on the back of the phone.

Dnt post ur info lol from my experience after hrs of trying to figure it out i concluded screw it factory reset go back to the previous rom n restore back up if this ur first from go to a different rom/gaaps if everythin works well then either stick with that for now or till someone with more experience knowledge then us come around

Make sure u have MF1 modem and unlock bootloader and instead of unofficial nightlies try an official release if that dnt work then try a different AOSP rom

Still doesn't work this morning. Going to wipe and try 10.1.3 here shortly.

Well I figured it out. My own mistake and I kept doing it everytime I flashed a new version, which is why it worked at first, but not after I got all the apps installed.
Enabled Voice + from CM. Took away the ability to send out SMS. All good now. So far. Thanks!
