hi guys
I've suddenly found very low internal storage space on my rafael(day before I had definitely more than 250mb free).I looked into the memory and found some strage files and folders-size around 250mb and with generated name (akalkjbgnylkads)SD card is not affected.I've tried to install anti-virus program but it seem to be blocking registry. Also removing was unsuccesful("unable to remove" or "file has changed name.."
Is there a way to boot raphael somehow like normal PC to "emergency mode" (without loading drivers,apps...)?
Or any other ideas?
sorry for my english
Well, I know that SPB Pocket Plus has a safe mode, you could try that. I don't know if its available in the free version.
It sounds like your internal memory is corrupted. It happens rarely, but still, it does happen. You could try scanning the main memory with SK Tools (using storage card tool), but in all likelihood, you need to do a hard reset.
Yup, same thing happened to me a while ago, had files and folders like these in storage card. Sadly, I had to format the card in order to get rid of them, so a Hard Reset will definitely work. Try with SK Tools first, just in case.
apologies for the mistake and my ignorance .... once again I apologize
Looks like you edited and apologize. Thank you

Hey Everybody!
Just wondering...is there any util/way/prog. or something to undelete deleted data from XDAII memory?!
I just moved some data to my SD card, which wasn't formated. So Resco explorer asked me if i Would like to format my Card? I choosed no, and nothing happend. But data was erased from first location anyway...damn.
And now, maybe the silly question, how to unerase my data?! :? :? :?
Keep up the good work!!!
Dejan, Slovenia
So, i presume, that unerase procedure on the XDAII internal memory cannot be done, what about with SD Cards!?
AnyBody?
Cheers!
i very much doubt there is such a thing
difference is that harddisks dont delete files their ref's are just removed
and even if the file have been removed the magnetic sectors tendency to be polarised like it have been most of the time or resently makes it possible to undelete even files from before a lowlevel format
flash most of the time dont have the size factor that the hd's have so deleted files's sectors are overwriten pretty soon after the file is deleted
i doubt that there are tools to do this even if possible to undelete files before the sectors were overwriten
since i dont see many people seing flash as a predictable enough media to have backups on for long
well try this link
http://tucows.enta.net/preview/354626.html
Its called Hany recovery 1.0
install it on the pc and then go via the pc to your ppc and undelete, worked for me
I downloaded HandyRecovery, but i can only select floppy, and local disks. Please do tell, Mate, How did you select a 'mobile device' to search throu?!
All the best!
Dejan, SLovenia
I took the sd card out of the phone and used a usb card reader, that worked wonders for me... havent found a way to use it direct on the phone yet though.
Hey guys,
My internal memory is low. And I'm having a popup message every 5 seconds of the day telling me my memory is critically low... It's driving me insane! I need a solution here. That's why I turn to you guys!
I would appreciate the heads up about finding more storage space. What I'm looking for all together is a program that will "trick" my htc wizard to think the sd card is actaully the internal storage memory. I want my memory to read something like this (example);
Storage
Total: 2000MB
In use: 50MB
Free: 1950MB
(Again, the total of 2000MB (2GB) is the actual SD card being read as the main memory.)
...instead of reading what usually is shown on the memory screen (below).
I am sure there is a program out there that can do this. I've seen something like that a while ago but chose not to use it since it wasn't any use to me.
Anyways, I'd really like a heads up...

doesn't work like that man... wish it did what rom are you running? whatever it is, reflash or flash something else... you are not out of memory, wm is just being stupid...
hehe it not possible to do it like that.
it's not the same as your computer, but try to convert part of your HDD to ram ( VIRTUAL MEMORY never act like real RAM ) .
the best way is to install everything on an SD card and to flash to the lightest ROM u'll find here .
WRONG!
Hey guys,
I'm telling you it exists. I've even marked it on a text file. I just don't remember what file that is... I think I got it from one of those site like freewareppc.com.
Anyways, like I said I wrote it on a text file in a computer; but which? My comp? My laptop? My girlfirend's laptop? My cousin's computer in Florida???
Heck, for the life of me I don't remember... But I will find it! When I do, I'll be waiting for appologies aside from the thank you's and financial "contributions" to have the prog! (Joking on that last one! )
Really guys, I'll be contributing something big when I DO find it!
Keep you all posted!
Phil
PS - I hope you keep ME posted if any of you find something like that...
PSS- If I remember marking it on a text file, could it have been a registry edit and not a plugin / prog? Hmmm, I wonder.

..maybe you need to think for a while...
you gave us screen, that tells, that you have almost clean, fresh booted machine.
try to see difference between STORAGE mem and STORAGE CARD.
try to measure speed difference, and overall gain ;/.
msg 'bout lack of storage MEM, while you have whole 45 mb storage MEM free is absurd.
check your hklm.init
check your startup(with startup manager(search on xda forum for that one..)),
check storage card space,
check your notifications,
try to figure out, which active(yet hidden/tsr) soft is making that "lack of space" message,
if you cannot handle software you are using...
there's no point in making storage card storage memory, anyway.
yet.
there is a little freeware called cleartemp that works just fine I had the same problem on my hermes after using this prog ended up with 20 MB of free memory I think this problem comes from installing programs that can not be completely uninstalled and just mess up ur phone
Thanks for the heads up...
Hey guys,
Thanks for the heads up on ways to free space and little progs that clear a lot of unused memory. But I am still convinced this program exists. I will find it and then I'll get my thanks!
Hey nothin, that is just an example screen. That's not my actual screen. I have less than a mb available in my storage.
And as mohen pointed out, it can be done on a computer. Shrink that technology and it'll be able to be applied to a ppc!

Yeah, I tried it. It creates another drive (like storage folder) that appears in your file manager called ramdisk. I used the reg file in the program to put the temp internet files and cookies to this drive. It works, my internet files are being stored here. We need some benchmark program to really determine if it speeds anything up.
About Ramdisk...
Hey guys,
So let me get this straight, this will actually use ram from my sd card and make it "virtual" storage memory? Or is it another program that cleans up the temp files???
Not sure if this is what I am looking for but I'm willing to give it a shot...
By the way, can anyone tell me how to install this file??? I'd really like to get it running!
Phil
Hello?
Anybody there...?
I'm still trying to figure out how to install this program. Anyone up to give me some pointers please???
Phil
what's the point to put the internet files cache on the virtual drive ?
u can put it on the SD card as well, i'm confused
Okay here's the deal...
Alright,
Now I've just about exhausted any and all resources I had to try and find this program / registry edit that turns my SD card into internal memory...
Here's my promise to the one that can find me this; 30$. The person that finds me this gets 30$. I will personally send it to you or transfer via email or maybe even paypal. I will also make a donation to this forum.
I can't stress enough how I had this on my phone back in January and after modding my phone so many times, it's gone. I'm pleading with you guys to try and find me this solution.
Phil
PS - You can write it on this thread or PM me with your finding
this might be the stupidest question ever but my storage card went hawywire and showed random files that didnt even have acgualy names. they showed as "∑∑∑∑∑∑.∑∑∑" and showed as 3.37 gigabytes each. so i got scared and deleted them. i also saw two "_cache" folders so i deleted them and next thing i knew i hdidnt have the most important folders anymore(my documents and program files) is there any possible way that i can get everything back? btw, i dont have a computer right now...
well, without a computer, there's nothing you can really do
unless you wanna take it somewhere else..
there's an app called ActiveRecovery7. i recommended it a while ago to someone to restore storage cards.
very very good piece of software

but thank you so much for the suggestion
isn't there any place you can go to to use a comp for 30mins or so?
actually there is but i forgot my storage card
Check Disk
Hi
You could just try putting the storage card into a windows based computer and running a disk check for errors. I have used this method before to rescue some files but not all. You can do this by:
Start>My Computer>(XRemovable Disk>Right Click>Properties>Tools Tab>Error Checking
Where X is the letter of the card reader as it appears in windows.
Hope that helps

thanks ill try that since activerecovery is not free.
just need to get my memory card!
how could i forget it?
oh well.
honestly, active recovery is worth the price.
it recovers up to 3 layers on physical drives and 2 on digital...
i would buy it just to save something that could go wrong on my pc.
I was using the internal 13gb storage to back up pics from my camera on a trip and all of a sudden it just shows gibberish file names and that u have 13.13gb free of 13.13gb. I tried restarting it, no difference although it did appear to show a few more files. Any ideas? I'd be pretty bummed if i just lost my pics.
seems to show more gibberish files now, but none have any more than 0 bytes... any advice on if it would be possible to recover the drive or anything?
Greetings.
I may have read you wrong but you did say "back up my pics from my camera" which sounds as if they are still on the camera? No sweat if that's so, copy them from the camera to your pc/mac or where ever else would appear to be a safer storage alternative. Then its a simple matter to get them burned to dvd/cd or printed at your local store.
If you meant you copied to the sdcard then deleted the originals from the camera you may still have a chance to resurrect them. If you can mount your cameras storage via USB then find yourself an "unerase" type of program and get them all back that way.
Just a word of advice: Since we are all modding the tablets, which in and of itself is a semi-risky, albeit fun, thing to be doing then do not count on anything being permanently on our tablet if it has any value to you. (we are all in a way beta testers)
I hope my ramblings help you.
Regards,
Fuzzy
Any and all ramblings are appreciated. I took some pics in vegas, filled the 2gb microsd card and dumped those onto the tablets internal storage, then took more pics in california and am now out of luck as far as recovering from the microsd card goes i think. Anyone beg to differ? I haven't really looked into recovery options there.
I'm hoping there is a way to get a direct image of the internal memory and then maybe I could run some utilities meant to recover files, though I am probably out of luck. It was handy wading through the pics on the tablet and uploading them straight to facebook after backing them up to it, though the quality isn't quite as nice of course as the original files. I've only had the thing about a month, so I figured I was safe as far as using it for backing up off my camera on my trip. Lesson learned I guess, grab some $10 sd cards instead of using microsd with an adapter and backing up to the tablet.
Hello,
Super noob here, so I'm in no way trying to offer advice. Just thought I'd share my experience.
Couple of weeks ago I had the gtab attached to my PC to copy some files. After I disconnected I opened the sdcard and basically found the same thing you are experiencing, nothing but a bunch of garbage files.
I think this happened because I pulled the plug too soon when disconnecting. You tap to 'deactivate usb transfer', then you get a series of messages about preparing SD card and such. I think you have to be careful to wait until it's done, which only takes a few seconds.
Unfortunately I can't offer any help about recovering the photos but I can tell you how I fixed my internal sdcard storage.
I simply re-ran the partitioning routine in clockwork mod and it took care of the corruption. The internal storage is fine now.
Sorry I can't offer help on recovering the files, hopefully something comes along.

I was able to recover lost pics from a corrupt external harddrive, using a free program called Recuva. I believe Piriform makes it. Just a thought

yes that sounds perfect, now if only i knew how to get a direct 1:1 dump of the internal memory...
dd would work I think. You'd need root and a big enough USB or uSD to hold the image

awesome man, finally something i can google
i've got a usb hard drive i can connect that is plenty big, not sure if there is a max size limit though...
the only info on dd command i can find is linux specific but i'm assuming it is the same. http://www.brighthub.com/computing/linux/articles/38387.aspx?p=2
"The command used to clone an entire drive would look like this:
dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb"
so sda is source and sdb is where to, so probably replace those with sdcard and sdcard2 or whatever the usb drive would be called.
This site says how to get command line access to my tablet, saying i need the sdk to get adb. http://gailly.net/android/android-tips.html
I can't really try it out til I get home, but my hopes are up. If anyone has tips or wants to say this post is completely wrong I'd much appreciate it.
From the little Droid tinkering I have done it'd be
dd if=/dev/block/mmc???
The input is the SD block device and partition not sure the exact thus the? ??
of=/path/to/mounted/drive

its best to clean your phone occasionally to keep it running good.
if you havent done a factory reset ever, or in a long time, i would backup all your data and pics, then do that.
that should fix it, but if it doesnt, you will have to look into re-installing clean stock on it.

Mostly due to the program hog up too much memory, so the program exit automatically so as to release the memory back to the system. You can uninstall some programs or add the SIM card to expand memory.
