xt720 & RAM - Milestone XT720 General

Hi,
is there any way to free up more RAM on the xt720? I only got about 40-50MB left (from the 256) after a factory reset... After loading some apps onto the phone, the working speed is just terrible, lags and waiting for widgets to appear included...
Ram drops to about 30MB, ATK is running wild... not realy satisfying...

Throttle Launcher

This is a great Today app, but has annoying habit of moving down the screen by a bar - see attached pic. Anyone know solution or not have this problem?
I liked it too... for the first 5-10 minutes or so. Gave it my best shot, tried many settings and options, installed and re-installed it a few times, but it's buggier than an entomology museum and eventually screws itself and your device up.
yep, i agree, funny and eye candy interface but heavy and buggy... i did it a chance but uninstalled soon.
Anyway, i got the same bug... there should be an option in the first tab of TouchFlo settings panel for the plugin heignt, you have to reduce a bit from full and manually find tne correct height, i can't remember the exact number now, sorry
for me is this great app:

WAD2
For me the best is WAD2, even if still in RC12 and a little buggy.
However I've 9 virtual pages, a dozen of docks (used practically as other pages), full of graphical candy, everything at 2 taps, quite all the functionality many previous programs had, and the best it's very easy to do the interface YOU want!
All this never going under 16-18 Mb free on a 64 Mb Universal using Tomal 7.7 ROM. The counterpart to having all this RAM is page switching isn't the fastest. But if I had 128 RAM (can't find anybody in Italy!) I could get off the "low-memory" management and have the speed in change of more RAM.

[Q] xt720 best flash file ???

hey
how should i know the best version of sbf file is ?
my current flash file is
STR_U2_03.20.1_SIGNED_UCASHLSTABB1B4DEMA039.0R_USASHLSTBRTRU_P012_A013_HWp3_1FF.sbf
but i got little noise on my pictures that i got in the dark place , and my xt720 running little slow , plus discharging fast .
i dont know exactly my cpu clock speed is. bytheway my phone is root and i got many apps on it but when i load some games on it, after close the game it takes few sec to show icones on home page , at first i thought that came from my speed clock and i installed the cpu over clock program on my phone and make that up to 800 and 1000 mhz , but that problem still exist . i wonder how can i fix these problems .
For speed bump install JIT and overclock to 900-1000Mhz. Also you can install Launcher Pro it is way faster then stock Launcher.
thanks , i didnt find jit to over clock , i installed setcpu but i cant over clock more than 720 could u drag me a link for jit ?
Look for "Milestone Overcloack" at the Android Market.
for JIT, you have to modify your XT720. just search with google.
i find jitter.apk from droid forum and i guess it belongs to droid phones could i load that jitter on my xt720 ?
Mine is
STR_U2_01.18.2_UCASHLSTABB1B4DEMA033.0R_USASHLSTBSTARSG_P016_A013_HWp3_1FF
For those who do not recognized, it's original StarHub ROM with 550 MHz clockspeed.
I flashed my phone back to SG StarHub ROM last week. After that, I run the update to download and install the 17.9 Mb update. it's bundled with 720MHz module, new QuickOffice app, DLNA, Voice Dialer and new Weather Widget.
after update. it's as same as the latest ROMs available. plus that I enjoy no unwanted keyboards, (and original StarHub logo on 1st Boot )

[Q] RAM size on Desire S (HTC Saga) ???

Hi everybody,
the new phone is great so far...
When go to Menu-Settings-Applications and click on Running on the bottom I see RAM stats. The readings are : 173 MB used and 383MB free. Adding them together getting 556MB. Isn't Desire S quoted to have 768MB of RAM???
heh ... mine currently adds up to 542.
cache and system reserved memory are not visualized
well... is there any app where you can check RAM ??? The ROM is 1.1Gb which is OK (main reason getting rid of Desire std) but really need to know if there's any "restriction" regarding RAM.
@heavyhms: I don't think cache and system reserved memory could eat up 200MB+ of RAM...
Taskpanel reports it as 611MB for me. But yeah, even the DHD only has 623MB of usable RAM.

Thanx for the enlighting ...
So if D HD and D S having 600+MB of RAM (from quoted 768) then poor SEX10... quoted RAM is 384MB...
But SE X10 does not have sense ...
Also my DS RAM adds up to 559MB, so I'm guessing the rest must me cache and SR...
Most i have is almost 600MB.
System Panel reports:
/system 549.2MB
/data 1156.5MB
/cache 295.3MB
/mnt/sdcard 7572MB
So cache should be in /cache right? So what's actually using the "lost" RAM? Is it Internal System Processes? But it doesn't really add up to the total RAM.
Also, every time i open System Panel, there's always around 100MB of RAM available. I believe if there's a shortage of memory, it just puts some unused apps in the /cache.
Do correct me if i'm wrong.
+! always noticed that in android.. extra ram is cached for faster performance...?
Ion my sgs 2, i have 1Gb RAM, but only 800mb + altogether in system settings!
So the cache & SRM along with Sense UI. That makes me think how to get rid of Sense UI...
However,phone is smooth and fast...

Indeed it is. And I have not been using a task manager either, the OS is doing a very good job handling stagnant applications while maintaining a buffer of unused memory I use Tasker to automate several tasks, and Minimalistic Text for custom widgets (some invoking Tasker tasks), and even with all that in the background I have not yet had a slow down.

[Q] Low memory/resource keyboard apk?

Hey.
I've been doing some odd work for a lower memory 7" tablet (256MB).
All it has so far is a stock android kbd, but Im wanting more (mainly because the port was horrible -- word predictions do not work, and its buggy at best).
I've tried quite a few different free kbds, but most sit over 20Mb -- 20Mb which I cant spare (since this device has about 60Mb of RAM available on a fresh install of my ROM).
So far the best kbd I've found is tap n tap, but thats still a little hefty in the RAM dept.
I don't need glam or shiny, just a regular kbd that is functional, working, low on memory/resources, and possibly designed for a tablet (although not necessary.).
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!!
Have u tried ultra Kb, or smart Kb?
☞★sent from my Galaxy SL!!
♪drajax!! *♂ツ
Keep in mind, I will be wanting a FREE kbd, as I will be incorporating it into my public ROM
What about Multiling Keyboard by Honso, it even has small apk file size.
i had a similiar issue and found those two
Simple Large Button Keyboard
- no permissions required*
- only 45kb size !!
- only 6,2 mb ram consumption on Android 4.0
Big Buttons Standard Keyboard
- no permissions required*
- only 135kb size
Other apps require more RAM, multicore, permissions and space (plus they come with ads and want your money). Some of them even rely on the integrated AOSP keyboard so you wont be able to disable this system app.
Mind: The integrated Android AOSP Keyboard (not Google Keyboard!) also has very low memory footprint (4,2 mb ram on Android 4.2 with all input "features" [like spelling corrections, etc. ] deactivated in settings) *BUT* is a pretty low performer with single cores and <= 1GHz. Therefore i prefer "Simple Large Button Keyboard" over the competitors for a low ressource/max effeciency scenario.
(*the privacy risk of keyboard sniffing is much lower without granted internet permissions)

DDKP3, Idle Condition - Max. RAM Occupied

Sorry Guys for starting this new thread, But for last few days i am facing problem with My new ROM DDKP3. After I had flashed DDKP3 my Max. Ram stays occupied in idle condition i.e without opening any apps. Moreover I hadn't used many Widgets as well. In addition to it when I checked about running services it only comprises 160 to 210 Mb of Ram space while my 340 to 360 MB of RAM stays occupied in idle condition. Please help me out.

Camera Hack + ICS Theme + Nexus Boot Animation
I am on miui_v10 , my ram condition is , occupied about 340 mb and 160-170mb free with only any.do widget on screen. I am also using LagfreeV2 script. So your condition seems fine for me.
