[Q] xt720 best flash file ??? - Milestone XT720 General

hey
how should i know the best version of sbf file is ?
my current flash file is
STR_U2_03.20.1_SIGNED_UCASHLSTABB1B4DEMA039.0R_USASHLSTBRTRU_P012_A013_HWp3_1FF.sbf
but i got little noise on my pictures that i got in the dark place , and my xt720 running little slow , plus discharging fast .
i dont know exactly my cpu clock speed is. bytheway my phone is root and i got many apps on it but when i load some games on it, after close the game it takes few sec to show icones on home page , at first i thought that came from my speed clock and i installed the cpu over clock program on my phone and make that up to 800 and 1000 mhz , but that problem still exist . i wonder how can i fix these problems .

For speed bump install JIT and overclock to 900-1000Mhz. Also you can install Launcher Pro it is way faster then stock Launcher.

thanks , i didnt find jit to over clock , i installed setcpu but i cant over clock more than 720 could u drag me a link for jit ?

Look for "Milestone Overcloack" at the Android Market.
for JIT, you have to modify your XT720. just search with google.

i find jitter.apk from droid forum and i guess it belongs to droid phones could i load that jitter on my xt720 ?

Mine is
STR_U2_01.18.2_UCASHLSTABB1B4DEMA033.0R_USASHLSTBSTARSG_P016_A013_HWp3_1FF
For those who do not recognized, it's original StarHub ROM with 550 MHz clockspeed.
I flashed my phone back to SG StarHub ROM last week. After that, I run the update to download and install the 17.9 Mb update. it's bundled with 720MHz module, new QuickOffice app, DLNA, Voice Dialer and new Weather Widget.
after update. it's as same as the latest ROMs available. plus that I enjoy no unwanted keyboards, (and original StarHub logo on 1st Boot )

perfect cpu clock

i set cpu clock (with overclock widget) as follow:
when screen is off : 128mhz constant
when screen is on : 128mhz to 528 mhz on demand
with this setting 24h of idle consume 10% of battery...
the question is: why modder dont use this clock as standard clock for coocked rom? there is a problem using this clock?
i seen a guy who was able to clock his cpu to 768Mhz in Windows Mobile though. I need an o/cing clockgen not downclocking

I this possible on android? I would love to see a hero rom running at 768 Mhz!
This has been tried on android, however it didn't work right. There is a post somewhere in the Dream forums about it & I know that it was done thru some kernel tweaks but it was majorly unstable & it usually just made the phone reboot or lockup.

Running with the same clock setting and it works like a charm with myHero but would be interesting to know the answer to these 2 questions!
If I remember correctly, a lot of users reported that their blurry screen issue got fixed when they stopped downclocking, so I think it does cause some issues. Moreover I've encountered a few lockups with 128MHz when trying to wake my phone.
If the phone is at 128MHz when the screen is off, and you're using your phone as an MP3 player, there are not enough CPU cycles to both decode the MP3 and post to last.fm via Scrobble Droid. This results in the song skipping every time you progress to a new track.
I suspect the same would happen if you got an SMS or a phonecall too, waking to full CPU cycles is definitely not an instant process on Android.
ROM cookers release what they think is a good speed. For everyone else there is SetCPU and OverclockWidget. Feel free to release your own ROM if you think you can do it better.

First of all: no one talked about doing better but asked a question how come!?!
And most hero roms used to have the clock set to 528 all the time and didn't include any overclockwidget.
I think we all appreciate the answer you give.
But i don't think anyone appreciate your smart ass comment "Feel free to release your own ROM if you think you can do it better."!
The first part of your message actually made you look clever enough but the last part pulled that down. People who try to look more clever by trying to make others look stupid is worth nada in my eyes specially when you didn't understand that xan.scale was actually questioning these settings himself since the developers didn't use these settings!

Yeah but i'm pretty sure stability wouldn't be an issue if you overclocked your CPU to say, 650-700Mhz instead of running it at the absolute max ie 768Mhz. Someone should start making a decent o/cing app/clockgen for Android, IMO.
where can i change these settings?

i know, but this is not running on this rom:
[ROM](32A / 32B / G1) Magic3G UnI Official Magic Sense UI 10/31/09
when i add this widget to the desktop and then start it, it crashes.
so i need to set these cpu clock manually.
but how ....?
Using the same rom and it's working great !

not, because i'm nooooob, so i cant make better than cyanogen (for example)
so if this setting are not used on any rom, i have supposed that there are problems
sorry for the question....
tomorrow i try to play mp3 tracks when sceen is off , and make a call, for test my cpu setting
This utitlity is useless anyway so don't bother trying to fix it. It crashes sometimes on my phone and i'm running the official taiwanese rom. It can only downclcok your cpu and who in the hell would wanna downclock??! Bring on a util that can actually overclock our cpu past 528Mhz.

A lot of users like to downclock the Hero roms there is set to run 528 all the time. Downclocking is a battery saver that's why its a good tool so you can set it low when screen is off

When using bfs 128 causes black screen issues. mine were cooked with it until i noticed this nasty side affect
i also downclock. maybe rethink your attitude....
i dont need 500+Mhz. I am fine with the 384.
so
when screen is off : 128mhz to 245 mhz
when screen is on : 128mhz to 528 mhz
are the best configuration?

hmmmm crazy ...
this widget needs root, but the:
[ROM](32A / 32B / G1) Magic3G UnI Official Magic Sense UI 10/31/09
gives root, correct?
or did you change the root settings?
I am always getting:
"We are sorry, the widget OverClockWidget does not react - close - or wait"
hmmm

only missing Faves
using autostarts and autokiller to make it run better
Thanks
Woah you got Meltus' permission to use the paid version in it, you must be quite the man. Anyways I love your rom, been using it for a week. I can survive the battery drainage but it should be better then it is now, since I need 2 apps just for my phone to survive 7 hours. I also have some problems with speed but it's not too bad with the OC kernel.
btw, think we should close the other one, as it ain't official and the person had no permission to post without these guys' authority. Just putting that out there.
will .7 fix the battery drain and call lag? memory leak fixes? i loved this rom but i couldnt handle it after 2 days lol.
btw can you please link to the android spin forums in the OP since they seem to get the updates first?
sorry for all the questions, much appreciated! =D

Its okay
We are always listening to requests... I am just the tester but I do my best to make this rom run smoothly.
The reason for the lag is the dump we used... we have a new dump so maybe that memory leak is gone... if not then we will find it and get rid of it
Once again its CR thats doing the deving... i just find the issues and its up to all of you to report what you find just incase I missed it

Official mytouch rom is announced for "old mytouch". If we are lucky, it's 32b... and maybe even for the 2.x radio... but I won't beleave it before I have it installed on my phone.

See this is the way Xda shoudl be....nice organized and full of info....good job Azuske
What's the word on the update?
Glad people are still working on this. I kanged Zenulator's CDMA port's apps and framework and have Rosie and Music w/landscape support. I saw the patch for LWP in Sense too but not sure if that would work on different kernels but I'll try..
The official update I believe is for Magic 32A but the hardware should be close enough to get BT. Either way, it's a closer port.
The reason its taking so long for a new release is because
1. The dev had Linux issues
2. We are using a better dump from the original device
3. We had issues with the speed in the last dump so we have been waiting for a kernel or a new dump to help fix this without the need to overclock your device too much
Don't worry you will be happy once its released just keep sending in what u find in previous versions so we can make sure the issues are fixed and drop the beta tag
Bluetooth isn't really a priority in 2.1 sense roms, just saying. Do you want the ability to get rid of call lag or have a bluetooth device first? If you need bluetooth don't use sense or downgrade to 1.5. You could also get a new phone.
how about you get chiefz to remove that app and the reupload your rom if you want to post download links
@alan0421 Let me say this now. I NEVER gave anyone permission to use the paid version of my app in their ROMs. I will be speaking to Mods...
so unfortunatly - everything you said just made you look silly in the other thread
I was right

Hi again,
I saw from the pictures it's again MoDaCo r3.1 based and has the new untervoltet and overclocked kernel from Richard from Version V14. Guessing with the same problems reported in this kernel thread, but seems to be the best for battery life, will see the reports by jolaren.
Still very curious what's else changed from V1 to V2? Can you tell us the secret of speed?
Best regards
How about proper release notes, so we know exactly what this is?
And oh, is this based on Froyo och Eclair - description a bit weired :/

Hi. First of all, great rom. Fastest 2.1 rom I've seen so far. Small annoyance from my side, my phone is always on "vibrate", I never use ringtones. But when I enable "vibrate" the icon that appears seems to be the icon for a ringtone on full volume. When I enable a ringtone, the icon disappears and there's no icon or whatsoever. I've included a screenshot when the phone is on "vibrate"

I just wanted to say that this is an excellent ROM, by-far the best Eclair ROM that I've tried and it's based on the ROM "SuperEclair 8.8" by [email protected] and enhanced greatly by Lfd.
This particular version is just great! Fast, well-themed and everything just works, no FCs whatsoever if you install it after a fresh, full wipe. I run it on my G1 and the best thing about it is that I can install it, let it do it's thing and then invoke Apps2SD and start loading about 35 apps and since it's Eclair (_not_ Froyo) Apps2SD uses my ext partition so I can load practically all the apps I want without seeing a huge hit to internal memory! Every single Froyo ROM I tried got down to 10Mb or less after I began loading apps and yes, I know there are work-arounds, but, sorry, I'm just not up to doing all that manual manipulation just to try to get Froyo to support more than 20 apps!
Again, I know all of the hoopola is surrounding Froyo but this ROM just works right-out-of-the-box, no patches, scripts, load-this-then-flash-that, no ADB, no searching through 80 pages of a thread trying to find a fix, it just works and it's really fast! I run it with Launcher Pro Beta running 7 screens all loaded-down with widgets and it's still pretty responsive!
If you want to tweak it, download Swapper 2 from Market and install that app (you can figure out what type and size of swap partition works best for you (I'm not going to suggest anything because each one of us seems to have an opinion on this!) along with Autokiller (set Autokiller to 'Aggressive') and just follow the same tweaks found in Chromatic's 4.0's thread:
Spare Parts Setup (find it under "Settings" menu in Lfd's ROM)
Go to: Settings>Spare parts
Window animations: Fast
Transition animations: Fast
SetCPU Recommended Settings
Max 576MHz
Min 245/128
Scaling ALWAYS on demand
Setup Profiles for charging and sleeping:
Max: 528
Min: 245
If you use the ADW Launcher then follow Chromatic's tweaks as-follows:
Go into Settings>ADW Settings
Change "Desktop scrolling speed" value to 0-177. (0 is what Chromatic uses and is silly fast!)
Desktop Overshoot set to "50"
I also recommend Under UI settings:
Checking, Closing dockbar
Checking, Tint AB
Checking, Hide AllApps Bg
Checking, Hide AB Bg
Checking, Hide Icon labels
Highlight Press Color: FF000000
Highlight Focus Color: FF696969
Un-Check, Scrollable widget support (unless you are using some of the new scrollable widgets like what the Pure line is doing)
That's about all I've got - Lfd is great, he does well to respond and is genuinely interested in getting feedback. Again, I suggest you try this ROM, it's my Daily Driver!
Regards to all,
Chris R.

Did you do this,
In After you install your active AFN (AFN Restaurar list) in "Opciones especiales" in SupSetup4 Apps2SD and then under Settings / Applications and re-boot and selects your APN settings in network.

doing that now let see if it works..
this is the sickest Eclair rom out to me. Donut speed on a Eclair
got it ty so much
flash this and fall in love with it, especially with the font
I tweaked this ROM to fit my own needs
what I did, replace items and delete items in the rom itself
Replaced blue battery with standard green icon
Replaced ADW with version 1.0.1
Replaced android keyboard with droid x keyboard
Replaced the font, with standard android fonts
Replaced the APN list, so now it automatically detects network settings. No tweaking
needed.
Replaced the background, with the regular super eclair one (black chalkboard/ white android)
Removed several apps, geniewidget, theme morph app, free memory widget and a few others that I've never used and don't need.
if you want to try it the way I like it, lmk I'll upload it and post a link.

[ROM] Corvus5 (newbe5 and Corvus teamed ROM)

newbe5 and me joined to create the biggest, best, and beautyfull rom for Advent Vega and POV Mobii.
Features:
(Old features from CorvusVegaRom 0.5)
NTFS, CIFS, and some other kernel tweaks
Patched against last malware (search xda for info)
CWM recovery added directly in the installation, and app to access it too.
Full Market working
Automount of FAT and NTFS devices
CIFS/NFS support (with Mount Manager from market)
VPN support (replace tun.ko module in /system/lib/modules with the one in the modules.zip)
Sqlite3 exec for modify app databases
gps.conf updated for better fixing
apns-conf.xml updated for 3G dongles
Reboot option added to shutdown menu
Fix BSOD when reboot, no more black screens...
Multitouch for Google Maps
Ads blocked using host file. (If you have any problem with this go to /system/etc/hosts and delete any problematic line).
Screen calibration app added.
Added a script to know if we are in host or slave mode, and GscriptLite that is needed.
Added Wfi Ad-Hoc support, so now can connect to ad-hoc networks.
(NEW in Corvus5)
Updated kernel with overclocking to 1.4Ghz
Performance boost, now in smartbech 2011 we get +4000/+2000 points !!!
UTF8 support
Added scripts to check/switch the way accelerometer works (game mode or mouse mode, so this can be selected)
Added TapNTap keyboard from Viewsonic G Tab
Replaced Gallery3D with 32bit-Gallery3D
Updated Clockwork Recovery to 3.0.2.4 (this still shows as 2.5.1.4 in ROM manager, but it is updated)
Removed Paul's Recovery Tool
Added ROM Manager (this can reboot you into recovery, so no need for 2 tools)
Removed Phone related APK's (Battery AHOY! This should increase battery life significantly, definately has for me!. This files can be added again using 3gFiles.zip attached)
Disabled Setup Wizard (will ask for google account information when you first run Market)
Removed VTL Launcher (All users have their own preference, so you can install which launcher you like)
Removed Task Manager (Pretty useless app imo, install better a one from the Market if you need one)
FIXED ACCELEROMETER!! This is now 100% working with perfect sensitivity for games etc, you MUST disable screen auto-rotation in settings for this to work properly.
*To help the above, newbe5 have created an auto-rotate on/off widget with a theme to match the rest of the ROM. Add it to your home screen from the Widgets menu as normal. This widget is a modified version of the one released on the Market for free by Jason Hull. Thanks Jason!
THEME! A whole new theme has been created from scratch specifically for this ROM. This theme was created by newbe5 and is called: GRID.
As part of the theme, most (if not all) of the transition animations have been changed to smoother ones.
EXPERIMENTAL:
I have compiled a bunch of modules lile tun, eyetoy module, some modules for dvb-t dongles and some for gamepads. They are attached, but no support for them... use at your risk.
BEFORE MAKE ANYTHING, PLEASE READ THIS FULL POST AND DO A NANDROID BACKUP (WITH CWM). I WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSABILITY IN ANY WAY IF YOU BRICK, EAT, OR SIT YOUR TABLET
NOTES
md5sum of zip file:
2b36fcfdaeb484e828cafdd5b98034e5 Corvus5.zip
If you have problems installing with CWM or adb, try using Rom Manager.
For enter usb host mode:
Press power button, once display get power (you will see the diference), press back button and hold until finish booting.
For know usb mode:
In Gscript Lite, we only need to create a new script and use "cat /data/var/mode" without quotes and with "Needs SU?" marked. It will return in what mode are we, slave or host.
For 3g Dongle (with 3gFiles.zip added):
Start in host mode (back button pressed until vega boots) with 3g dongle inserted.
Once started, extract and put back 3G dongle. If you have PIN it will ask for it.
Test dongle (mine green is working, light blue is detected, but not connected, dark blue is connected). If it stalls in light blue, you have a problem with apns, edit /system/etc/apns-conf.xml or pm me.
For Links2SD:
In Links2SD you get an error first time you start it... reboot tablet and works ok.
If no music or wallpapers are show:
Load "Dev Tools" and restart the media scanner and once completed everything was shown
For check/change accelerometer mode:
With connectbot exec...
/system/bin/MouseGameModeChecker.sh to see in what mode is your tablet.
/system/bin/MouseGameSwitcher.sh to switch from game to mouse and back.
For overclocking:
Method 1:
Put the setcpu.txt file attached in the root of your sdcard and then start setcpu (if you have started earlyer, must press menu and press the left button "device") then select the bottom button (custom freqs) then you can move the slide to 1400000.
Method 2:
Download CPU Meter from market. It must detect the freqs and let you use them. Dont change any other parameter, use at your own risk.
AS ALWAYS DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR TABLET.
Installation:
Using CWM (RECOMENDED).
Do a Full Wipe before flashing the rom (not needed, but can cause problems)
Copy Corvus5.zip to sdcard and update like any other update.
Not using CWM. (NOT RECOMENDED)
If you ave CWM, use the other way, if not, use this.
Unzip the file and use install-x where x is your operating system. If windows doesnt recognize the tablet use the usb drivers that are into the zip. This is the way that Modaco ROM is installed so if you have problem, please go to its post to see how to resolve.

newbe5 for the help, the theme and for push me to do a new rom...
I think dont forgot anyone...
Corvus.
Thanks for the ROM guys. Keeps me happy with my tablet!
Keep up the good work!
Just to know this means no CorvusVegaRom 0.6, you switching to Corvus5 developemnt? It is looking very nice and plus the 1.4Ghz oc option and great changelog as well .... coooool.
Now we can use the latest ROM Manager, via Market download, to flash the ROM from recovery->sdcard?
Also, please add that Honecomb theme from Modaco to this thread.
Thanks a lot

Yes, no 0.6 rom
You can see Corvus5 like a CorvusVegaRom 1.0. No more development in any of them... maybe some bug fixing. Next will be much experimental and no for average users.
Corvus.
Dual-Core Tegra 2 @ 1400MHz ????

The speed increase really is noticable. Especially when switching apps etc.
Corvus>> What are the min and max voltages for min speed and max 1400Ghz speed ... did you tweak it or it is always constant?
BTW, I see Viewsonic G-Tablet thread have now 1.5Ghz kernel ... are they compatible with your ROM and/or our device? Though I am quite happy with 1.4Ghz.
Sorry for so many questions, just want to understand.
Thanks Again.
DAMN MY BROKE HOME INTERNET! lol
I didn't manage to grab the second post in time, lmao. I'll have to add the extra content in down here as soon as my internet stops being crappy :/
newbe5/Zebwen
thanks for this it runs great, looks cool and 1.4Ghz dual core gives some good benchmarks to show off!
I have lag when I switch tablet back on from sleep.
How to switch of auto correction and suggestion on the tap keyboard? I switched off in settings but its still on.
Thanks!
Sent from my Corvus5 using Tapatalk
Thanks Corvus/Newbe5 for this great rom. The Kernel OC is awesome (3700 on smartbench ) and the Rom is really fast.
The only thing I had to do was removing Rom Manager from the system partition (througth adb) and reinstall it again from the market because the one that comes with the rom didn't get me in the recovery.
One question, is it posible to change the image from the Power On (the two Tux not the bootanimation) ?

Can you please clarify with above question, really interesting.
Also to note, the name of the app is CPU Master (from Antutu) not CPU Meter as stated if your first post.
Another question I have is that I see no "ondemand" in SetCPU and CPU Master. Does that mean that this the governor is not embedded in the kernel?
Thank you again for great ROM
Hey guys,
so yesterday I installed corvagusrom, when I plugged in my keyboard the whole thing crashed.
Now when I boot I get a BSOD. The problem is, the tablet is still in usb host mode, so I cannot use the offical advent vega update tool to restore, nor can I use adb.
How can I restore this?
The official restore uses nvflash mode boot into by turning off the vega plugging in the charger hold the back button for two seconds and then the power button until the pc it is connected to bleeps
Follow instructions from myadventvega.com from here your usb mode will not effect this restore
typed by using my vega as a tennis racquet
Love this rom. 1.4 ghz. Is a huge improvement. But i have a problem when i am recording audio it's very distorted. Any. Ideas?
Best rom, thx!
love the rom will you be releasing a gingerbread version soonish because i wish to port murdocks tablet tweaks o this rom but the api level difference is complicating the process as well as the inclusion of the systemui.apk in gingerbread which was incorporated into the framework-res.apk in froyo
PS this is too fast great work using button saviour ATM to make up for loss bottom status bar
Great work on this, really does fly.
Only issue I am having is random system freeze when using the stock browser.
Cheers
Todd
You two just pushed this Rom. TO ANOTHER LEVEL! awesome work.
Couple of reboots to settle in then stable, fast, slick rom.
rom is very strong and fast i like very much
but gsensor is very well is speedx also bad is asphalt 6
and book reader aldiko not run this rom
titanium backup restore not run .
market download twice not run .
