Hello everyone,
Can you offer me a good phone for the price of 450 USD? I've watched many reviews and the phones that caught my attention were Sony Xperia P, HTC One S...I'm also wondering about Xperia Arc S (which is cheaper), but you don't buy a new phone every month so I prefer something newer. So...I'm waiting for your advices and thanks in advance.
i would go with tge htc thats my opinion
You have a budget of $450? Go for the unlocked Gnex for $350, it has a big dev community and will get updates the fastest. In addition, JB with project butter has had outstanding results, similar in speed to how WP7 runs so smooth on single core 1ghz snapdragons.
if you don't mind the 5mp camera and on screen buttons, I say definitely get it

The one s is the better of the two,but you should consider other options too.

Yes, buy the HTC One S... you have a longer time fun with this device! And a really great support in this forum.
Before buying a new phone search for this:
1. Compatible with a stable version or Nightly version of CM9-10 or any other supported rom. (That means that is a device it’s currently developed.)
2. Listen what the device users say in the forums. (They have one they know their behavior problems)
3. Search for a recovery or a backup for the device OS. (You will be in guarantee so find a solution for any problem can succeed)
4. Look if the OS version is upper than 4.0 or recent 4.1.X (Gingerbread it's OK but it's going old each day, Jelly Bean seems a stable version)
5. Look the specs and the price. (Analyze the price with the specs it have)
Hope it was useful
Aahh, it's a tough decision. The One S has the more powerful CPU and the bigger screen, but I've read that the screen of the Xperia P is better (higher pixel density, plus that White Magic technology), the One S also lacks NFC (yeah, you can't do much with it now, but maybe in 2-3 years it will be useful). Tell me the pros and cons of the two.
Sorry for the stupid question but what's Gnex? Is it Galaxy Nexus and if it is, then where do I get it for $350 ?

Galaxy nexus is an international GSM phone,if you have at least EDGE network (2G) it will work.
It is also very beautiful, and a Google Device,so you know you're in safe hands.

Of the aforementioned I like tha Galaxy Nexus most, but the problem is that it's not available in my country (Bulgaria) through Google Play. I should find a way to buy it.

Try a Samsung Shop as opposed to your network carrier. That way you're sure it's the sim unlocked international version.

Shipping is expensive for tech, but you could have them lie about the value on the forms.
My advice is to exhaust all local options first, if shipping proves cheaper, then go for it.

I wasn't planning on gettng this but got it in a straight up trade and I wasn't expecting much. I like the tablet alot. The battery life has been very good for me. I watch alot of TV shows and movies and it performs fine. Still haven't fully tested any games but I don't play games all the time. So far, it works for what I need it to do.
How is the gps on it? How long to lock satellites? Anyone use it with sygic or any other mapping/ gps software?

Use the officemax coupon. Got it today for 159.00 but I bought the total equipment warranty for 45 dollars x 3 years. Plan on using it as a universal remote in the entertainment area. The warranty is nice. Replaces device of equal value for almost any reason. Didn't see anything about rooting.
I figure I pay for TEW for my cell phones at a lot more a month than 45 dollars x 3 years.

Unfortunately, the european version is not with IR....
It ia a bit underpowered as compaired to some of the other tablets, but it is also priced lower as well.
Just depends on what you want .
I think for that price is it a very good piece of Hardware

The problem is, according to me, that there is a lot of turn-off on this tablet.
For example, there is no backlight for the "menu" and "back" button :/
No notification led either.
Ho, and Samsung made a hell of a job filling it with useless application, and biding it to KIES....
I like the samsung galaxy tab 3 7.0 I have sucessfully rooted and flashed a new rom (jaminsons infamous rom) and I found it doesnt lag as much and is good to check email facebook or play games on it so enjoy
I've had mine for a week now no issues after I rooted it cwm it and removed the Samsung bloat I didn't want. I like splanner better then the normal calendar.
It's been great so far

True, but those two features mean nothing to me.
I loved that I found it for $145.00 on Ebay. I know it is not the most powerful out there, but I was not looking for that.
After rooting, overclocking the Rom a bit, and clearing out useless apps, just as zippy as needed. I play a few graphic heavy games with no issues.

How's responsiveness?
Preparing to replace my Note with either this or the Z1.
Just wondering:
1.) How is lag and hangs on the Note3? Did any show up while you are using it? Preferably while you are doing the benchmark or under heavy load.
2.) How about accuracy of the screen? The note is off by a few pixels how about this? I think this was well documented problem on the note, I'll describe it if you are not familiar with it.
3.) Touch responsiveness? The note is slow on the lockscreen when you have pin lock. Try something like 160425 as your pin (no that is not my pin, I just randomly chose a 6 digit that can take advantage of both thumbs so you can press them very fast one after the other with preferably 1-2ms lag between each press), then press them 1 after the other very fast preferably on 2handed use. A lot of the times 1 of them won't register or will register wrong for the Note1. How about the Note3?
I'm a bit of a power user and the lag on the Note is annoying and is still laggy even after being rooted and flashed with slim bean. Just wanted to hear your take on the note3. As this might be the tie breaker for me.
I'm very disappointed with the Note (I wanted to throw it away after 6months of use but is under a 2yrs contract so... yeah) Mostly with TW and the screen, I even have ghost presses on the screen (luckily it was replaced while in warranty). So kinda want to stay away from sammy this round but between the Note3 and the Z1, the Note3 has the advantage of 3gb ram and 32gb storage (I'm on smart and I'm sure they will only have this version) on the hardware side and sammy usually have the bootloader unlocked, I expect this one to be the same while the Z1 will have it locked and I will lose a lot of the built-in features for unlocking it. But the lag on my Note is a big downer for getting another sammy that I'm willing to fore go the advantage of sammy for sony.
Thanks =)

Most probably your correct on the estimated launch price as Samsung will be selling the 32gb variant unlike before where they launch the 16gb for note2. Personally, I really prefer the 32gb and I'm very happy that Samsung decided to scrap the 16gb variant for note 3. Please update us on any new details with regards to launch date, venue and most especially the reservation of units.. Thanks and more power to you! :fingers-crossed:

1. with the new proc i found it snappier than the stock tw from the s4 variant. i dont usually benchmark tests since they are not that reliable but if there's one i use 3dmark (scores excellent almost above the Sony z1 line)
2. the accuracy of the screen has vastly improved from both the note 1 and 2 (which both i also own)...the pen is precise and pin point
3. touch response is excellent and the whole screen now even those at the sides of the bezel can be touched controlled as well...
i have almost all the galaxy lines of samsung and the note 3 delivers even on stock...what more if you can mod it, too much potential

Just noticed, according to honormi website, they will pre install google play if asked. Also, the Champagne gold with 4GB ram and 128GB memory seems like a good deal ($789) relative to other prices I've seen quoted from other dealers. Is this much more than what would be Huawei's price?

If you can wait, CES and Barcelona are coming up soon. Lots of new devices will be previewed. I'm more likely to order the Mate 8 once the international version is launched (supposedly during Q1 of 2016, but it might get pushed back to Q2). Given the inclusion of FUD LTE band 17--essential for much of AT&T's 4G market, especially all the Verizon western markets that it bought when big red had to divest itself of those markets during the Alltel aquisition--and the fact that the online US Huawei store has had only one phone with US 4G LTE bands that work for both T Mobile and AT&T, I really expect to see Huawei launch this in the US via their store. Look for Huawei to announce a US launch at CES. At least, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I didn't buy the 7 because my AT&T 4G LTE market uses FUD LTE band 17 and the 7 is missing it.

Yes, patience is a virtue here! I'm on T-mobile so bands 2 and 4 are all that is needed for LTE so I'm covered in that regards. T-mobile does not use band 17. Be interesting if a Mate 8 shows up at CES for US. Wonder if a different processor will be used for that. Any idea what might be on the horizon?

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that Huawei will sell the Mate 8 in the US. In fact, the article indicates that the company will begin to focus more on more on North America next year.
Good, the built-in huawei app manager has a link to install Google Play! It actually works fine
I'm working in Shanghai and just got my mate 8 delivered this morning.
Per past exp on using huawei devices, it's easy to install gapps as there are gapps installers available in the preloaded huawei app store.
Personal comment of Mate 8 on gapps installation, compatibility and setup may be more complicated than previous models. may be because of Android 6.0? China ver users may expect to be with more patients at the beginning. Until the international ver has released with more regions' stock rom options.....
I won't recommend to have selling party to pre-install the gapps. better keep the packing as new. it's really easy as just donwload the gapps installer and run it!
BTW, just a reminder, original packing from China ver has come with original leather flip case, and it gets a protector on the screen.....

BTW, just a reminder, original packing from China ver has come with original leather flip case, and it gets a protector on the screen.....

Yep, I was very surprised to see mine came with a pretty good screen protector already installed..

Interested in this. Do you just need to install Google Play Store, or are there more files to download along side it?
Also I heard that there are issues for not allowing it enough memory so it crashes when download large games like 1gb +. If this is the case, how do you increase memory space and what else should I do during the setup?
Gear Sport paid apps on other smartphones than Samsung
Hi guys,
I bought the Samsung Gear Sport and I can only access free apps on Gear app.
The paid apps don't show here.
I tried with 2 android phones (unroot): Nexus 5 and Zenfone 3.
In my country (Brazil) it's possible to access paid apps ( I have a friend with Gear S3 and Samsung S7 and he can buy apps).
It's true that only Samsung phone can access the paid apps???
Why this Samsung?
I tried everything: reset, reinstall in both phones and nothing. Only free apps. The other things (notifications, apps and so) works OK.
Thank you.
Nobody here with a non Samsung phone and a Gear device??
Tks guys.

I have a Pixel XL and Gear sport. I have purchased a watchface or two in the Galaxy apps but no apps. In the US. Does that answer your question?

Hi, thank you very much for your response.
I can test and buy just a few watchfaces - those with a trial period.
You don't see paid apps like me? It is a crazy decision for Samsung to close the market for those who do not own a Samsung phone....
Thank you for your help.
And, you liked the Gear Sport? I'm happy! Using in the gym, using sometimes to track the sleep, and for notifications. Great device. :good:

Very strange situation. I did not see any paid app.
All other things are working fine. I will reach samsung support.
I tried 2 phones and nothing.
Yes, they're blocking such content on non-galaxy phones.
