anyone else having problems with the most recent update of Juice defender?
Running Kings kernel #6 and #8 (that i've tried, and its causing extreme lag)
seems like this started after last update to it if I recall.
anyone have a rolled back version of Ultimate juice?
Can you give any more info on what exactly is going wrong? Is the touchscreen just not responding quickly, or is the whole phone that's chugging along? Juice defender on my phone always takes a second or so to re-enable everything after I unlock the screen, and I had an issue for a while where that would take 10+ seconds for it to do this.
Wiping the cache and Dalvik seemed to fix the issue, but I haven't the slightest idea why. That's what worked for me, but if you've tried different kernels and wiped in between flashes and you're still having the issue, your guess is as good as mine.
i had to uninstall juice defender... it was causing everything to go so slow.. even the KB would lag that it would input the secondary fuctions like if i would long press... it kinda ruined the BFS kernel if you ask me
Both hardware unresponsive and chugging during scrolling and selection.
Terribly bad.
Its either SetCPU or Juice defender doing it.
I installed SETCPU and did my thing for 2 hours and it was fine.
installed Juice defender, problems arose.
uninstalled Juice defender, Problem persisted.
Uninstalled SETCPU problems went away.
so tried to opposite the cycle and install Juice defender first.
Phone is now problematic again.
So my guess is not only is Juice defender the problem but its causing an issue with SETCPU as well
(I am not using the CPU option in Juice defender before anyone asks)
yeah, like I said multiple roms, using Amon Ra recovery (since I don't feel clockwork wipes well) and have wiped dalvik/cache , problem still persists.
I've noticed that SetCPU has been updated recently, and maybe they just arent playing well together, But even with SetCPU uninstalled JuiceDefender is wreaking havoc, phone is completely unusable, I can barely uninstall the application after its been installed, have to reboot phone and get to it within 30 seconds before it bogs down and lags phone.
Edit: so its not just me? also running kings and last few days with JD installed its killing me, Which sucks because it really did double my battery life.
Literally didn't lose 1% battery when screen was off all night unplugged haha.
I had just installed Juice Defender 4 days ago and I gotta admit, I was kinda hesitant to do so. I have read quite a few posts regarding the slow downs and sluggishness related to juice defender. As of today, I couldn't be happier with it. My battery life has definitely improved (I'm getting at least 5+ hours more a day with JD running). And i haven't experienced and slow downs or delays with any of my evos functions. I'm running cm 6 nightly (forget which one) with snap 7.11 kernel, and setcpu.

I was stupid enough to actually buy this crapplication. it slows down my system every time I think "let's give it one more try". It slows it down to the point that it is completely unresponsive and doesn't do anything at all but sits there until I kill the application.
If you're experiencing this as well. just uninstall it, best thing you'll do for yourself.
something ruined the App in the most recent update thats for sure, I'll have to report and watch for further development because it truly is great when it works.
The recent update messed everything up, I actually stopped using it after the update because its not helping anything at all. Hopefully the developer gets the kinks worked out.

did you hav the "Stable" or BETA version" the BETA is much much better than the "stable".
Ultimate Juice always caused lag for me when I used it. It is a completely useless app, in my opinion, since SetCPU + the natural battery life is fantastic.
JD
Im running Juicedefender ultimate, 1.8.8 Fresh 3, netarchy 4.1.9 and everything is awesome. batt x 2.46 and no lag
i don't know what version is in the market, but when i'm on sense roms i use 2.1.7 i will attach it for you guys. this one works well on the evo. like really well.
uninstall whatever version is in the market and try this one out
on CM6 i normally just turn data off from the power control widget, this nets awesome battery life.

Most people don't have any issues with this app. Maybe you should check to make sure it isn't something else entirely, or maybe just another app like setCPU conflicting.

whats the difference from the apk you posted to the one in the market?
The one in the market is the latest stable (v1.8.8) - while thedudejdog attached the latest beta available that time. You could also check http:/latedroid.com/beta/latest/ (sorry, as a new user I cannot post this as working link) for the always latest beta (currently v2.2.0).
But as I'm just here: I currently have installed the latest stable (1.8.8), and have some severe problems with it. What is the best way to switch to the beta (to give JD another chance) without losing the settings - if that's possible at all?
My probs with 1.8.8:
As soon as JD is running and the screen switches off, my IRC client (AndChat) loses the connection
I cannot "configure apps" - JD won't save the changes. With a little trick I can do changes here - but settings are always saved for 1 app only, i.e. if I enable/disable app b with this trick, settings of app b are saved - but those of app a (configured previously) are lost. That means there can only be 1 app configured at a given time.
If JD disabled data completely, they sometimes can be enabled only by a phone reboot (yes, I heard this may also be Android-2.1 specific).
With those problems persisting, the app would be quite useless to me: what does it help if I gain 2..5 hours (or even a day) of battery when I'm not able to use the phone as I require? Without JD, it currently lasts for about 3 full days. Gaining more would be nice - but compared to any trouble I'd prefer staying with my 3 days
I've tried several different ROMs, as well as several different battery saving apps, but I keep running into the same problem with my Droid Charge - after a certain amount of time with the mobile network off, it will not turn back on without either a restart or a toggle of airplane mode. There has to be a bug in the software design, as the same issue occurs with Greenpower, Juice Defender, 2x, and Tasker. I've been on stock, Humble ROM, and am currently on Eclipse, but none of these ROMs have fixed this issue.
Are there any developers out there who can fix this issue? I get almost 20 hours of battery life when I use Juice Defender (compared to about 7 hrs without it), but I can't keep restarting my phone and toggling airplane mode in the middle of the day.
Any suggestions or fixes? I know that many are experiencing the same issue, but it never seems to get addressed.
You're more likely to get an answer to your question if you post it in the correct section -- development is for releases and tutorials; Q&A goes in General (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074281).
From what I have read, you cant really use Juice Defender or other similar apps with the charge. For some reason, when those apps turn off the radio, it won't always come back on. Sometimes a reboot fixes it and sometimes not.
This is a radio issue so I don't think a rom can fix it. I tried Juice with EE4 and it worked if you did not disable the radio but battery savings is almost non-existent. I have not tried it on EP1Q though. I am lucky to get 10 hrs on my battery.

I've had good results running Juice Defender with 3G where the radio comes back pretty much all the time. 4G doesn't fair nearly as well, not coming back about 30% of the time.
I tend to use 3G most of the time, only switching to 4G when I need the insane speed (tethering or Netflix watching). The battery life is much better.

Which radio are you using? EE4? or EP1Q?
As far as EE4 goes, I also agree that JuiceDefender is too inconsistent to run since the data always drops out. However, when I ran the full EP1F/EP1H (I forgot which one I flashed to) GB leak awhile back just to try out, JD was actually working quite well to at least a 90% consistency in restoring data after unsleeping my phone. Unfortunately with all the other bugs going on with the GB leaks I reflashed back to EE4, and now I've flashed to the EP1Q modem only. I've yet to try JD with the EP1Q modem, but I'll give it a try later today.
Wait, we can use the EP1Q radios with an EE4 rom?

Here's the [EP1Q] radios: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215167
Also there are no compatibility issues by far, I'm still running Humble's 1.51 EE4 ROM with imoseyon's 0.13.3 kernel and it runs beautifully.

Scroll down a bit on his twitter feed and you'll find it. Be sure you download the correct 0.13.3 version since 0.13.5 is unstable and will cause bootloops on your phone.
The only instance I've run into issues so far with is music streaming. It seems my GMusic and Pandora will randomly have popping sounds while streaming music. It's nothing too major for me but just in case anyone was wondering why they could be getting it.
Thanks. Should I go with his or imnuts? Just wanna know if there's a big difference between the two like speed an battery life...

You will score higher in Quadrant with imoseyon's kernel although that's kind of meaningless. Some people swear they notice significant speed increases, but I haven't noticed anything. As for battery life...they're about equal.

Im on EP1Q modem and I installed JD back on but it still doesnt work with 4G. On the other hand with 3G it seems to work if im in the same area for some time but when im going from city to city the mobile data enabling is still an issue.
Hey all, quick question hopefully you all can help me out with. I am currently having terrible battery issues ever since I flashed my phone initially. Terrible as in 6 hours stand-by my phone would be dead.
Anyhow, I am just trying to figure out who's (which) kernel I am running. The kernel version is 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622 . I have done searches but biggest problem is, threads usually do not post the version number for me to check what I am running.
I am on Infused 2.1.0 (thx GTG!), but battery life has been garbage on all ROMs so I am certain that is not the issue. Can anyone let me know, me love you long time.

Problem is I bought 2 extra batteries and get exact same life. When I initially bought the phone I would get a days use surprisingly. After that, I have had nothing but god awful drain. I have had almost a dozen android phones and have never encountered such terrible battery life.
I do not have fetch data enabled/gps/widget updates or anything that would normally keep the processor/data churning while in my pocket. Battery use is usually around 40-80% on display, all other categories being minimal (which seems correct).
I'm banging my head on this one, I appreciate you guys replying to my thread

1% per 3 hours standby is FREAKING AWESOME..!!!!
Maybe u have some stray app in the background that's using CPU/whatever it is that's eating up ur battery.
Some subtle things u cud try since u said display is taking up 40-80% of battery:
1. Turning off screen auto rotation, turning it on when needed
2. Turning off auto brightness, turning it on to auto when needed
Use SetCPU like people above pointed out and this would let u see what processor states ur phone is spending most time in.
It sounds like for some people, Infusion 1.1 really flakes out. No clue why. I don't overclock so I don't run it.
It's either Infusion 1.1 flaked out, or if you continue having problems with other kernels, you have a rogue app.
Kernels rarely make any significant difference in battery life unless they're broken.

Running Infusion-GB 1.1 and Infused 2.1.0: I get 1% drain every 3 hours on standby with radio on (reasonable H+ reception) and 1% every 6 hours on flight mode.
It's most likely a defect in your phone or a configuration issue. You really have to be using your phone for at least 4 or 5 hours (screen-on time) over those 6 hours to cut through battery that fast.

when you go to settings > applications > running services - is there anything there that looks like it shouldn't be there?
i know that there is a process that starts with an "o" that is tied into media hub's protected content (DRM) - eats a ton of battery, and isn't really necessary.
it's also possible that you have the SNS service going, but constantly in a restarting state. this seemed to eat a lot of battery also.
otherwise, i'd do what others have suggested and monitor with CPU spy, and i'd also suggest an app called Better Battery Stats (not available in the market - find it here on XDA by a developer named chamonix). this will let you know if you have any wakelocks that are preventing your phone from reaching deep sleep when it is idle.
definitely sounds like you could have a wakelock or 2 interfering with your phone trying to get into those lower frequencies.
wipe battery stats?

Packets in/out isn't what you want unless you also have unusual data usage too. It's wakelock stats you want - look at the BetterBatteryStats app. It used to be only on XDA but apparently it's on the market now.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Wiping battery stats does NOTHING on our phone. Don't go blindly telling people to do something on our devices just because it worked on another device. The fuel gauge chip on GalaxyS series phones works in a very different way than HTC phones. (Exception: I think the GSII has a more traditional fuel gauge.)
To all G2x community,
I am having problems with juice defender, to be more specific whenever I hang up from a phone call there is a delay in the hang up process, usually takes 5 to 10 seconds after I press end call. The issue is posted on the Juice Defender feedback forum, and I just wanted to call on you guys to pump up the vote tally for this issue. So if you can, just click on the link and give it the max 3 votes I'd appreciate it.
http://feedback.latedroid.com/forum...ns/2257272-no-data-connection-while-on-phone-
Edit: Whoops.
I get the same problem, I also have a problem with WiFi calling constantly polling my phone as traffic even with WiFi disabled with the phone set as WiFi Calling on Enable/Screen Off.
I always wondered why there was a delay on hangup... Never knew it was a JD thing though. Hope they address it quickly
I don't use these types of apps, but a while back I noticed a new similar app in the market. I'm curious as to how it compares to Juice Defender, has anyone tried it? It's called Go Power Master (by the same devs who made GoSMS and Go Keyboard etc.)

Pin it to Win it.
Are you using a specific rom or just stock? I have ran into this issue with or without jd on certain roms (can't recall exactly such ones atm) but it may be a conflict also. I run jd on tsugi right now and use the 2g/3g since it still doesn't work radio wise with that version. But I have jd ultimate for the wifi capabilities, and have on all other roms for the past year and a half.
I have used certain roms along with certain kertain kernals without jd and had that issue though. I understand when its disabled things goto normal, so I guess are you running froyo, gb, 2.3.7 or ics?

JD is pointless, all it does is turn off data when the screen turns off and on when the screen is on. This can be done by the touch of a button easy.

Thing is i WANT the data to stay on even during screen off, its not like i have a lot of traffic going on 24/7 anyways, its gonna update stuff like facebook, messenger, email twitter etc only, which uses very little traffic anyways.
I tried to set it updating everything whenever i turn screen on and all it did was cause some minor lag whenever i unlock screen.....not a very good idea to me lol
And to the OP, juice defender actually made my battery WORSE.......it kept trying to close some background stuff for me and ended up using a lot more power than it should be. All you need to do is flash a better rom/kernel, underclock (and undervolt if your hardware allows it, mine doesnt but its good enough so it is fine on stock voltage underclocked).
I did a test recenly, exactly 20 hours and my battery stayed at 97% with very little activity, which I consider as very nice. The next day I used my pone for about an hour on talking, roughly 30minutes on games, and probably an hour for web browsing, and i still have 59% left at the end of the day
Regular battery too, i did not buy a powerful battery replacement.
So yeah SCREW JUICE DEFENDER!!!!
If you wanted data to stay on all the time, JD is completely useless to you. Seriously.

I've used JD Plus for well over a year. I'm really starting to think the app is hype. I see no major difference with it or with out it. Pointless.
If you read back some threads before on JD, you would find out that JD off the market (at least it still is) does not work on the G2X for some reason. You have to install a beta version of it that was linked on these forums a while back and use that.
The market version was not able to shut off data at all whereas the beta version does.
I was able to get about 27 hours before my battery depleted just on a new ROM and not having to UV/OC any settings. I still use it on my GB ROMs. Doesn't really work on the ICS ROMs.
I have had it for a long time, and noticed quite a bit of difference compared to without it. GB did change that until the beta. And with ics, it does work for me. I use it for the data shutoff + automated wifi enable/ disable. If I really need an email that I'm waiting for and can't miss that extra 5 min of duration that it takes, I turn it off. That's where I notice the major difference, especially with the newer kernels for ics builds. But obviously it doesn't seem to work as well for some people, or some people just don't like it. That's why theirs different versions of everything.

I'm giving this thing the bump!... I'm impressed with the votes, the vote total is in triple digits. We need some more votes to get this thing pushed through. It's the only thing that bugs me about JD right now, and I'm sure there are alot of people in the same boat.

For me the battery life on my settings was so good it decreased it due to my phone being woken up every 30 minutes.
This is my battery life on stock battery without JD

With JD I probably would've only gotten 18 hours.

I don't know if JD does drain battery a lot or not. But I always have trouble with it connecting to Mobile Data quickly. I unlock the screen, it shows the 4g icon plus the four white bars, but it's usually connected only when the bars turn blue. And it takes forever for the bars to turn blue, like a 10 second delay, any way to fix it?

No. It may help in some cases, but for me it is not needed.

Look at the guide in the first link of my signature. The ROM's listed (icbinb included) coupled with AntonX's kernel and one of the tweaks, I think, will give you the best combo available to us.
Remember to keep wifi and sync off when not using. Use Gemini App Manager or similar app from market to stop apps from unnecessarily starting when you don't need them to. If you don't use wifi calling remove or freeze the app along with other apps you don't use. Read about undervolting your phone. I feel like that has helped me.
Thanks a lot...

I run the latest version of Valhalla black(not FB) and I can get a day's use no problem. Looking at my phone now, it has 8 battery left and is at 18hr 41m. This isnt right as I took it off the charger at 8am this morning and its 2:30am now. Hasnt been on charger since, so thats pretty good in my book. I leave Wifi on, but it only connects when I'm home. I did a full shift of work, 8-5 on 4g. Heavy texting, some web browsing and small time on other apps, downloaded some apps. Just all basic use of my smartphone. I never had to worry about the battery on this rom. Use the music app to play music through my car during commute. Yeah, this is what I would suggest to use as a rom. I have been on Valhalla for a few months now. Only thing that is weird is random reboots. Which only happen... maybe once a week. It doesnt affect anything, well, not anything to my knowledge or the basic use of my phone. So yeah, results may vary but give it a shot!
Thats pretty good.... I charge my phone two time a day... May be bad battery.... But i think that i need to change my rom first...

I'd say Hebrew Valhalla with atonx's latest kernel and undervolting has had the best battery life for me. I can easily get through the whole way with moderate to heavy use while still having 50% battery left when its time to go to bed. As long as you don't change the localizations, its completely in English so think of it as Valhalla final but updated. I love it!
