[Q] (Q) using tnt 2.2 but quadrant only 660 - G Tablet General

Hi I am using tntlite 2.2 but very low quadrant score only 660. Also when viewing flash, some flash are extremely slow, just either give me a ! In the middle of screen, or go directly a restart. Please help

660 is definitely a problem - I would recommend the following, in this order (do the next if the previous didn't work):
- User data wipe (backup what's important first with something like Titanium Backup)
- Reflash the device completely
- Install clockworkmod and redo the SD card partitions (this will wipe /sdcard, so back that up first).
Hopefully the user data wipe does the trick!

thank a lot roebeet, I followed your step, now my quadrant score is 2400.
But on some flash still has the ! and make browser extremely slow, I hope the future vega will fix the problem, until vega come out, I won't return this beast, I love the battery on this thing.
Thanks you for the hard work.

You're very welcome! I see some slowness on Flash, as well - I usually check Task Killer and Flash using eats 75-100MB of RAM, all by itself. Ouch.

Most people have 3rd Party apps they use.
If options you need were removed,
this ROM may not be for you.
::: SD Setup :::
Swap
Fat
ext - optional - only has Froyo app2sd
::: TO INSTALL :::
- Do whatever you do for backing up, example: nandroid
- Wipe with this method:
---- While USB plugged to the computer,
---- run the bat in this post and format this way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6855422&postcount=3
---- to ensure full format, I also use AmonRa recovery wipe options
---- just to be safe
---- If you are comfortable in ADB, then just use it to run this command:
adb shell mount -a; rm -rf /system/*; rm -rf /data/*; rm -rf /cache/*;
---- You can skip the bat file if you do this
- Flash ROM ONLY
- Reboot Device
- After that, change whatever settings you would like. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING.
- Just Setup CM settings, wifi, etc (optional)
---- I like to enable wifi and put in my network key
---- so my wifi is going when the market begins
---- to sync my apps
- Reboot Recovey
- Flash GAPPS
- Reboot
- Unlock after reboot and you will be prompted with the Google sign in.
---- After unlock, I usually plug it in, have wifi enabled,
---- set it up under 'USB Debugging' to "stay awake when plugged in"
---- and leave it alone for a bit. This way, you aren't stressing out your system
---- while the market is downloading 100 apps at once lol
---- This is also why I reboot and setup PRIOR to installing gapps.
---- A reboot or three may be needed to ensure everything is settled in nicely
---- If you are wondering where your responsiveness is, look at your downloads
---- in the market, see if you are still syncing. If you reboot during some downloads,
---- you may need to cancel and restart them.
Fully Tested on my G1.
Current Phone Specs:
- Danger SPL
- G1-radio-2_22_23_02
- Dithering OFF (CM Options)
- 96mb Swap
- 512mb ext3 - just in case, this way, if I need an ext partition, I dont
-------------- have to re-format the entire card.

I use Camera Zoom FX and mAPPn360
Those apps are much slower than the stock camera app imo. What's wrong with the camera app included in CM6? Snappy for me

Hey marlo, I have a problem. I've never modded my g1 before and decided to do this rom first off. I went back and rooted it and then installed amon ra recovery and did radio update to 2.22 and danger spl.
I flashed your rom through recovery and it booted up fine the first three times but for some reason now it wont stop rebooting. It gets to the home screen, "press menu(my bad) 'swipe' to unlock", for about a second or two and then screen fades as if I did a battery pull. Then boots right back up.
I'm going to try some things when i get home, in recovery, when I wipe before install, am I suppossed to wipe all options in that sub menu? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you and all others in advance.
Alright still having the same problem. I loaded in recovery and wiped everything except the sdcard partition, which I dont have my sdcard partitioned, so I didnt want to do it and wipe my rom zip.
After wiping everything else I reflashed the rom from sd. And rebooted from recovery. Rom loaded up great and worked perfect on first boot for about an hour until I decided to reboot it to make sure everything was working great and it started again.
Will load up to "swipe to unlock" and once its done preparing sd card it fades like I did a batt pull. Help, please?
Ok, sorry I wasn't following forum rules. I didn't know the meaning of the term "search". I spent a good 45 straight minutes searching just now as well as searching earlier today, but you guys are right, it pays off. I had wifi on, and only after a reboot would it go into the wifi reboot bug because on first launch with no wifi on it would connect without rebooting.
Hey marlo, I have some questions about this build and about a stripped down version of android to run games. Answer on here if you like, but I'll PM you about it.
Sorry for the delay. Your bug may have something to do with cyanogen, or what I removed. CM has been known to do similar things.
I never experienced your scenario, but I'm not saying I doubt you.
Games ran fine for me, I played robo defense all the time.
Thanks for trying my version of CM.

me too, but i have to admit... there is a difference from my tab for the first 10 minutes it boots compared to after i open a couple apps. even if i try to kill all running processes with a task manager and it says it closed them all. it slows just a tiny bit
but all in all i wouldn't change a thing about my gtab other than light up soft keys and a different lcd. but even those aren't a big issue
i tried this lagfix and it failed for me. i could not install the ext2 tools in order to run the lagfix. however this lagfix apk has the onclick root on it as well as the lagfix, pretty handy if it worked.

Both of my Zpad V2.0 and TnT v2.02 score about the same as yours. That's fast, not really need to get lagfix. I'm just curious and like to tinker with new toy.

To use Titanium Backup, your GTab needs rooted.
Best way is:

Be sure to read all instructions posted in 1st page.
Hope this help.

Updated: 3/19/2011
NFX-Shift.Deodex.STOCK.V.2.0
NFX-Shift.Odex.STOCK.V.2.0
This will not wipe your data, ALthough always best to start fresh!
- [Kernel] [GPL] Sense 2.6.32.21 OC/UV 1.51GHZ (CFS-Smartass-TUN) Thanks to bcnice20
- Default CPU clock will be 1.0ghz with ondemand , changable thru setcpu or if you want to edit the kernel directly. I have never been a fan of the overclocking apps as once the system is boot they need to wait for the SU to grant permissions for the settings. this way it is from boot.
Remove the script below to use setcpu
If you would like to change the defaults in the kernel just look in system/etc/init.d/ 80screenstate_scaling
echo 245760 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo 1209600 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
System Currently boot at 1.2 ghz with the script. if you have issues with this speed remove the sript and reboot. This will allow for the settings in the kernel to boot at 1ghz.
- Unlocked 3G USB tethering & Sprint Hotspot - no need for any other apks aka wired or wireless tether
- Read ahead fixed to 256k for the SDcard (speed fix) - should increase the read times from sdcard
- 5meg limit on the mms
- Tweaks for the system to increase overall performance
- 4 in 1 menu w/hibernation (photo at bottom of post)
- Fixed 1x / 3g to be accurate
- zip align apps installed on data automatically

Make sure you have cache wiped too, sounds like maybe a corupt download.

I apologize, I already did a nandroid recover. Everything went through fine on the logcat, but after boot it kept giving me an error in regard to wakelock not responding. I probably had a bad download. I will try again this weekend (have to go meet the wife right now) and let you know the results. Well that is great then considering odex vs deodexed, cause we all now that there is about a 15 to 20% loss with deodexing a rom. Once I get my shift I will odex and really get into slimlineing the rom, just like the HeroC
Man it is great to see you here!! When I sold my hero, the guy wanted to keep your ROM that I was running on it. Paypal is about to see some action once I try this out.

OK..switching from vegantab 5.1.1 to Calkulin

First...appologies to those who get frustrated with the newb who shouldn't attempt this if they have to ask how....
I am fortunate to own a GTAB that came already loaded with Vegan 5.1.1 and so I have not had the opportunity to do any tinkering myself. I have read the sticky on CWM and the process seems simple enough. I have read through the threads on the various ROMS but have not read of anything that seems complete enough or enough of an upgrade to make me want to switch from Vegan..... until Calkulin.
Of course the ROM I want is the one that seems to stray from the simple use CWM method. Specifically as it relates to backup and recovery. Right now Vegan is very stable and does everything I want it to do. So, why change... because from what I have read, Calkulin's ROM does everything, is stable, and does it with overclocking built in. And I can't help myself.
If my Tab goes all Charlie Sheen with this upgarade, I need to be able to find my way back. I can use CWM to make a backup of my current setup however I am concerned that all the other steps for this ROM ( using Calkulin's format and nvflash) will obliterate my backup and my CWM install for that matter.
I can use a search function. I am not asking to be spoon fed. Vegantab 5.1.1 is arguably one of the most installed ROMS on the GTAB and I'm sure there are many people who will want to take this route to Calkulin. If someone has made this jump, I think that they would be helping out many here by posting a step by step or at the very least, a what to be careful of post.

It does not support overclocking, as none of the kernels do at this time (unless that has changed since last night). Honestly, unless you want to tinker for the sake of tinkering, I'd leave Vegan on there.
Um, Calkulin gTab 1.1 doesn't require anything special to flash it. It was about as easy as it gets. Use CWM recovery to run his format all.zip, his rom update.zip, and if you want a custom kernal update.zip. Reboot and you are done.
Make a backup and copy your cwm file to a PC as a backup. I would use the format all if switching from vegan to a tnt lite varient. Also I would invest in titanium backup. It will save all your apps and data that you can back up on PC and restore after a new rom is flashed.
That said, I say stick with vegan. I love to tinker but I always come back to vegan 5.1.1.
Good luck
OK, I totally suck....
My head got turned inside out. I confused Calkulin' s format all zip with the one in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974422
and started to think that this process was a lot more involved. I guess researching too much is not always a good thing.
@ramerco I suppose you have flashed from Vegan to Calkulin's. I guess his format all.zip doesn't take CWM off like the one from the other post? Is switching back and forth as easy as choosing your backup?

I've been switching from TnT-Lite/VeganB511/Vegan7 GB/Calkuin's multiple times just using CWM backup/restore with no issue.
Remember to do 3 wipes before restore or flashing firmwares:
- Wipe data/factory reset.
- Wipe cache.
- Wipe Dalvik cache
@rickyt63 Are you doing these three wipes instead of Calkulin's format all or in conjunction with it.
Also to those who have tried both Vegan 5.1.1, Vegan 7 and Calkulin can you give your brief comparisons of these three? Pros, cons, which do you prefer? Why?
I also have been doing a lot of switching between 5.1.1 tnt lite vegan ginger experimentals just using CWM like above - you just need to do a factory reset wipe cache and the dalvic cache. I think it helps to wipe dalvik cache again after the ROM is flashed. Calkulins Rom is by far the fastest and when you flash clemsyn's froyo v3 kernel on top of that you get a great result. Titanium backup allows you to easily restore all your apps and settings even after a factory reset
Clemsyn said that he has a new kernel tweaked just for calkulins rom which he may release soon.
Thanks for the clarification, rocky3. The guy I bought the GTAB from used CWM to erased all his user data before he gave it to me but I know that I either have Titanium backup on there or have the .apk in my download folder.
I'm off to learn more. Thanks again!

Why?

I did not use Calkulin's format when switching roms. Only 3 wipes.
Here are some thoughts about Roms: They're all fast and stable IMO.
1) TnT-Lite V4.2.5: Quadrant score ~ 2400.
- Pro: Fast and stable. Did not delete media from sdcard2.
- Con: boot up seems a little slow due to sdcard2 scanning, but after scanning it's fast.
2) Vegan V1B5.1.1: Quadrant score ~ 2600-2700.
- Pro: Fast and stable. A tad faster than TnT-Lite.
- Con: media delete from sdcard2. fixed: create a ".nomedia" file in sdcard2.
3) Calkulin V1.1: Quadrant score ~ 2600-2700.
- Pro: Fast and stable. A tad faster than TnT-Lite. Monster Madness run flawlessly.
- Con: media delete from sdcard2. fixed: create a ".nomedia" file in sdcard2.
4) Vegan7 Ginger Bread Experimental
- Pro: Fast, Nice Ginger Bread UI
- Con: Audio still clunky, some games don't work properly vs. TnT-Lite/Vegan V1B511
BTW, I use TnT-Lite or Vegan V1B511 as daily driver.
Hope this help.
Rich, thanks so much for your reply! When I look at your evaluation of vegan 5.1.1 and calkulin and I couple that with Butch's advice here and elsewhere, it makes my decision easy. For now, I will stay put with Vegan.
At some point, I will have to nvflash back to stock in order to take a viewsonic update ( I assume this will be the only way to get a honeycomb based rom, if that is even in the cards for the gtab). At this point, it doesn't seem that there is anything out there worth risking what I have now... a perfectly stable rom which does everything I need it to do with a full market.
I still get the itch to change up my tab even though I love where I'm at with VEGAn beta5.1.1, so I started changing themes, bootanimations and boot logos. There are some pretty cool themes made by gto777 that flash with cwm or metamorph. You can find those in the apps and themes thread. Awesome boot animations can also be found there along with instructions on how to load them. If you already know that nvflash is in your future you may want to get a little practice in with it early by changing your boot logo. Nothing made me happier than getting rid of the birds on boot and changing it out for a nvidia tegra2 logo. Its a fun task and there have been people posting their custom boot images for use on the sticky thread in the above mentioned section. Thinking I may re do mine this weekend, saw someone had put their name, number and email on the boot logo. Pretty cool feture as the boot logo survives through rom flashing. Seams pretty handy in cases of loss or theft.
Anyway hope this helps with the flashing itch. Have fun!
OK, so it seems that today's announcement puts honeycreams even further out of our reach.
I can't see myself making changes just for cosmetic purposes. I would only change for either a performance increase or greater compatability with newer software.
It seems that vegantab 5.1.1 will be it for me for a while until maybe the gingerbread version is fully baked.

Benchmark results

hi
I clean flashed cromi-x 5.4 and ran the quadrant benchmark and get around 5000.
according to the screenprints of results here, I should be getting 7500ish.
can anyone explain or help?
the tf is unusably slow. at least 5 second lag before it responds to anything.
in twrp mod, it flies though. any ideas???

1. Go to the twrp and do a backup for your device
2. Go here and download the ET v1.13.9 with the suffix "ext4" http://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf700/general/et-v1-13-8-cromi-x-t2843054
3. Install the zip in the twrp
4. Report back how it goes
If you don't like it, you can restore your backup to the previous setup...good luck...:fingers-crossed:
You are running Quadrant in performance mode, are you?
Did you choose to install with fsync off?
Try data2sd but that lag is not normal even with fsync on....
Tons of widgets on your home screens? Tell us more about your setup.
hi..
no widgets but for one (asus weather).
my microsd port is not working so i can't use data2sd.
i did a wipe and clean install of cromi-x 5.4 with the extreme tweaks bunds and selected to disable the fsync and my quadrant standard edition results are still "poor".
my concern is more WHY my devices frezzes and takes at least 5 seconds to even respond after i launch and app or even press the settings button despite a new rom and kernel.
doesn't that suggest something else is amiss?

That is really strange and unusual and certainly a PIA. But let's make sure we are on the same page:
Define what you mean by 'clean install'
Post your bootloader and recovery versions please.
yes has me baffled so am here for help
when I am in twrp, I press install and along the process i'm asked if I want to wipe which is the recommended option. I select this option.
is that the correct way?
side point/question, what does it mean if when going thru aroma installer, the TF flies but is unusable when running a rom, stock or otherwise?

So you never did a clean install
The option in the installer only wipes cache and Dalvik. You HAVE to wipe /data before installing a new rom.
Boot into TWRP.
Go to Wipe
Just swipe the button
That will wipe all your apps but not your personal files like pictures etc.
Then reflash the rom, select _that's kernel, select fsync off, select the two GPU options and everything else you desire.
Once the Aroma installer finished it's your choice if you want to try CROMi-X as is or flash LMK's tweaks right away.
Once you reboot, you will have to go through the setup process again, reinstall all your apps but I can almost gurantee: It will be worth it!
What is wrong with your microsd card slot? This could be causing other issues if the device thinks it has to keep polling for something that isn't there.
thanks!
wiped properly and just did the install.
let it settle for a while and quadrant score was 6600 so im happy with that. i ran it earlier and it varied from 3500 to 4500. is that odd?
the result is still less than the 7500+ though. ideas? i'll have to look up these LMK things you mentioned....im a newbie.
seems like the freezing has been solved such that the tablet is usable...fingers crossed it stays that way.

6600 is very respectable for the TF700 and it should feel quicker. 7500 is extreme - I doubt most users will get that - I never did on ET either

Haha, you never get up to 7500... My average on the latest ET is around 7800ish and pass 8000+ on the high end.. BTW, if you would like to try out the new ET, please give the .9 a run because I am be able to have an extra one hour comparing to the .8 without performance loss. The average battery life on my daily usage on .8 is about 4+ hours and the .9 is about 5+ hours. Please give some feedback if you try it, thanks..

It should be under /system/ect/init.d..
If you flash my zip file, everything should set up properly for users to use...

That score seems like you were running balance mode which is set 1.4GHz for CPU and 520MHz for GPU. My balance mode is around 6000+. You could try to run the quadrant in Performance mode and should be easy getting 7500+ on your current setup...
I don't think there is a 9000+ score for Cromi X unless you are running ART on Crombi kk. There are only two users running Cromi X with the score 8000+. One is lucius.zen who set the CPU with 1.9GHz and GPU with 700MHz on Hund's kernel. The second user is set the CPU with 1.8GHz and 700MHz with GPU on Hund's kernel... If you can get that 9000+ on Cromi X, then you are the first user who is achieved the best score out of this tf700 forum, good luck....:fingers-crossed:
If you want to update the bootloader to .10, you can follow this thread:

Oops, it is my bad.... You could follow the Cromi X first page to update your bootloader but you may want to update your twrp after that because it is an old version of the twrp, good luck....:fingers-crossed:

3 selected the asus extracted zip file ( renamed to this to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip as apparently its a trick) which i saved on my internal drive
4 swiped to install

What does the failed message say - it probably tells you what failed?
Also extract the recovery log from TWRP after.
