My Advice To You Is To Try [Universal Androot, Or Z4Root], **If You Go To Market & Search ApkShare/Install/Open/Type:"PMGRANDS" Or "ROOT" & You'll Find Both Apps** Also To Answer Your Question... Yes It's That Easy... Just Go To Market, Type "ROOT" In The Search Box, Scroll To Wireless Tether & Install, THAT'S IT!!! HOPEFULLY THIS HELPS, GOOD LUCK!!!

What I did was went on the HTC site and found an old build, and then I followed one of the many root guides here.

How to install custom rom

I am a new android user. I am learning little by little about this phone. Does anyone know how to install custom rom on infuse? I got my phone rooted already.
Thanks in advance.
Ok. First of all you have to be rooted. PM me if you need help with that. Which ROM do you want to flash? There are two that are working well, Infused and refuse. Refuse needs to use odin though, and infused usually doesnt. Just hit me up and I'll send you detailed instructions via PM. We dont need more clutter in these boards.

since the this thread is already started i do have a few noob questions if someone is willing to answer
you should ask.
Look at the thread that I made in the dev section and post questions there. They will be answered
Sent from my 4.5' Infuse 4g: Currently running Infused v1.3.1 w/ voodoo lagfix. Thank you gtg465x!
k will look there first and guess go from there. I have been hesitant to ask cuz always afraid they have been asked or wrong place to ask. Ive looked thru so many pages that i probably saw the answers to some of my questions but read them as a blur. I come from an iphone and with so many android phones seems so confusing at times.

No it hasn't, and for the future, questions like this should be posted in the Q & A section.

[Q] If I root my Nexus S...

Will I still receive the android updates? Ive always been sketchy about rooting my phone because i want to keep the android system as up to date as possible. Will I still receive the android updates if I root my phone or will I have to manually do it somehow?
Much thanks
If you flash a custom rom then you won't recieve the official OTA updates from Google.
If you root the stock rom you will still receive ota updates. You can also manually flash updates(best method). Please do alot of reading about rooting before attempting anything. Had you done this you would have known the answer to your question. Learn how to use adobe and fastboot. Don't be lazy and use a one click root method as this will not teach you anything about your phone and you will not know how to fix a problem should one arise. Thanks for posting in the correct section!

Auto correction on his phone turned abd into adobe I would say. It is clear to me what was meant.
sooo how should i go about rooting it with 2.3.7 and being on a mac?
Found this sticky in the Nexus S General section:

double check if it supports your Nexus s version though.

do you think it will matter that I'm on mac 10.7?

You'll be just fine
Also, if your rooted and running a, custom ROM, you don't need OTA updates, as the ROM developers incorporate the updates into their ROMs, within a day or two usually. I don't even worry about updates from OEMS or Google anymore.
Pipsqueak approved this message.
One click is certainly looking like a bad idea as the ota does come through and then screws up your superuser. I've been arguing w my phone for a week trying to get past this and put cm7 on it.

[Q] How to put latest version of android on SGS4G

Sorry about the numerous posts, I have now successfully rooted my phone (I know its not impressive...). Now I have a few questions:
1. How do I put the latest stock android on my SGS4G? Or the latest "good" version of android on my SGS4G?
2. Since the phone is default on tmobile, I was wondering, will I still be able to do wifi calls? What I mean by that is, when I got the phone, it had a wifi calling app that turned off cell phone connections whenever I had wifi.
3. Will I be able to tether without tmobile charging me for tethering? I do have a data plan.
4. I know rooting is basically like gaining administrator access, but what are the biggest advantages of rooting? Just a personal question to you guys.
5. Last, will I be able to restore my phone as if I had just bought it from tmobile, if I install the latest, or best android version onto it?
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS. It really helps.
If you are on gingerbread 2.3.6 you have the latest stock rom.

Have your pick. Stock included. Again notice this is a sticky that is easily found if you'd look. Good luck.

Here is a CWM flashable gingerbread stock from RaverX3X:

If you want the best of the best roms, of course IMO, follow Raver's work.

Okay look, its not that I'm too lazy to look for these posts, I don't understand which they are. Like I said, I'm just starting to learn about android so I don't know what deodexed is, so that's why I'm asking people to help me find a stock 2.3.6. with no modifications.

Stock 2.3.6? You can either upgrade via Samsung's official Kies Mini software or you can grab RaverX3X's ROM-ODIN-2.3.6-Gingerbread Offical. It's based on the Kies files downloaded from Samsung just repackaged for ODIN for people having issues using Kies.
Reread above.
Edit: Stephen beat me to it. I put a CWM flashable stock link above. He posted the odin version. If you become familiar with flashing in CWM you can flash any rom... at least that has been my experience so far.
Edit 2: Here is another helpful set of instructions with files included: GB Ext4 Starter Pack

We also have a wiki page for our phone. Search the general forum for 'wiki' and you'll find a thread I posted about it.

I'm following this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16600185
But when it says "Step 10: Download drhonks KG4 kernal.", which one do I download KG4 or..., and which md5 file inside do I use?
Search the developer forum for "kj6 one click" Read the entire thread. Pick the option with the OP's beta kernel. Proceed to flash. click thanks to the OP. Easiest method ever.

Okay I am seriously confused right now. Can we just start over fresh?
Basically this is what happened:
1. I succesfully rooted my phone using superoneclick
2. I was going through the tutorial found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16600185
But then Stephen mentioned that I could just using kies through samsung.
3. I tried Kies, but it didn't work
4. I talked to samsung representatives for like an hour with no success
5. I tried to put stock gingerbread from RaverX3X.
6. I almost bricked my phone since it just nonstopped restarted while displaying a bunch of dots on the screen
7. I restored my phone to factory settings
Right now it says I have 2.3.4 (Gingerbread I believe), but I have no idea how... So what I'm looking to do is to put RaverX3X's official gingerbread on my phone. My phone is not rooted, and doesn't have anything on it I believe. No USB drivers either. Where should I start?
And again thank you guys for sticking with me and helping me, I am so confused so if you can just either give me step-by-step instructions, or link me to a topic that has them. THANK YOU
Double check what version your phone says it has. 2.3.6?
If so you have what you want it seems.

I think you need some more detail in there... like maybe this is for GB.
I also use SuperOneClickv2.3.3. And there is no need to check any exploits.
I wonder if you felt like there weren't a dozen other threads on how to root?
um bro you have to check the rage one it for at least this version
Umm bro then get the up to date version.

Doesn't work with GB but, umm bro, the updated version(2.3.3) does.

You are trying to contribute and that is great.
Just be aware most people would rather have Gingerbread and there is a much simpler way to do this once you get gingerbread.
Thanks for trying. It shows you want to help.

That would just clutter up the forums some more. We already have a lot of guides in the wiki, so it'd be better if you gave the link to the wiki to people when they ask how to root GB. If you would like you can also add your GB guide to the wiki since anyone can edit it.
Why did you post this? We already have like 50 threads on this.
