An app to perform automatic soft reset on my hd2? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi, is there a simple and working application to perform automatic soft reset at a certain time (even daily) on my hd2?
Thanks a lot in advance

TGShutdown v1.1

Thanks, but it switches off and does not reset.

You can use this program:
http://www.connectivetools.com/ctscheduler.html
CT Scheduler.
This can make lots of thinks, see the pic.
NB =)

Like to have this also

CleanRAM is it, what you need
you cane set any time and/or day to softreset your pocketPC greatz!

I wrote a small Mortscript script to do this
this places itself on the notification q every 2 days and resets the phone at 3am
Change these items
NextHour = 03
NextMinute = 0
to modify hour and minute of reset
and (TimeStamp() + 172800 ))
to modify days ahead for next requeue
number is 86400 = 1 day (in seconds) 172800 = 2 days etc,
Copy script into notpad on your PC save as Dailyreset.mscr
Create a direcrory Mortscript under Program Files (should exist after you instal Mortscript), copy the Dailyreset.mscr in to this
so you will have \Program Files\Mortscript\Dailyreset.mscr
Run this and it will create a notification q entery which will reset your phone at a set time every n days
Mortscript can be found at
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=list&category=17
#################################################
# Reset to clear the Phone every 2 days @ 3:00 am

# initialize variables
NextHour = 03
NextMinute = 0
NextSecond = 0
NextDay = 0
NextMonth = 0
NextYear = 0
# REMOVE ANY OLD NOTIFICATIONS FOR THE This Task
################################################
RemoveNotifications( "\Program Files\Mortscript\Dailyreset.mscr" )
sleep (500)
# Calculate new date/time 3am every 2 days
##############################
NewTime = FormatTime( "d/m/Y" , (TimeStamp() + 172800 ))
NextDay = substr (NewTime , 1,2)
NextMonth = substr (NewTime , 4,2)
NextYear = substr (NewTime , 7,4)
RunAt( NextYear, NextMonth, NextDay, NextHour, Nextminute, "\Program Files\Mortscript\Dailyreset.mscr")
sleep (500)

Reset

Thank you guys. I know the software called ct scheduler but I wanted something free, so I installed clean ram and I'll see if it works since I programmed a soft reset for tomorrow morning at 7,00.
Having said so, I say thanks even for the Mortscript thing but it is far beyond my possibilities...since I need a stable machine and have absolutely no idea of what mortscript is, what damages can cause its misuse and so on. So, for now, I'm gonna check clean ram hoping this will work and my pda will be fresh for a new day...
Thanks.

This never happened to me in 12 years I use a pda. Never. If you re-soft reset it, it will see the sd card again.
Soft resetting is necessary.

You can use CHTS + a Soft reset app

My DIY Tornado soft reset tool!

Okay, here is the story... Sometimes I just want to soft reset my Tornado to close those "unclosable" apps like MSN Messenger. So I wrote this little program to help me. Now I don't have to turn off the phone and turn it on again just in order to do a soft reset.
I'd like to share it. Haven't been tested on Tornados other than mine. Use it at your own risk.
Just extract the exe from zip, copy it to your Tornado, run from File Manager... you can also create a shortcut for it. :roll:
B.T.W, It DOES NOT work on Windows Mobile 2003 platform. So don't bother to try.
It's updated. No more stupid ARE YOU SURE question.
Few question asked (ok ? Yes ? are you sure ? )
But work ok for me
Maybe turned OFF Button and turned ON Button will be shorter don't you think ?
Thanks anyhow
edit : on the second RUN less question Asked. Only one actually "Would you like to Soft reset"

Bonjour. It's updated.
I just made it for fun.
Planning to add scheduled reboot function. So it can reboot in midnight, and you get fresh memory for a new day.
Any other ideas are welcome!
If you are havign trouble making registry settings place documents and mail on the storage card because boot-up doesn't find the card fast enough, then maybe soft reset will help.
I will try. Thanks.
Well, I believe CeleTask free memory function is more than sufficient
You didn't understand me, but I think I was wrong anyway.
There are times when you try to place certain system folders on Storage. But when phone boots, it tries to write that data before it recognises the storage card, so it creates the folder in system memory again (I think in Application Data instead of original location).
My thought was that if you could make a registry change immediately effective without theneed for a bood sequence, you could have your data on the storage card.
However, recent reading tells me that for registry settings to take effect, the system needs to be powered down. So no good.

No you can't fix the date thing as when you take the battery out you are cutting power to the Wizard and thus the clock so it resets to default (in this case 2006).

where is the default date stored? is it some registry key?
I can understand it goes back to default, but default is in 2006, so would be easier to set it to 2007 or 2008 and correct it from there...
Why not get an app like Time Sync and set it to run everytime with the device startup? That way it does not matter what time is set it will set the most correct date and time for automatically
A "what is the best ROM for my Wizard" thread will be locked quickly. Do your research and then you can tell us.

this works and is what I've been doing, but I can't understand why enabling the NITZ key and the Time Zone tab doesn't pull the time from the network... crappy cell phones and BBs do this, but come to think of it, even my old SDA didn't do it either... shouldn't this be a basic function without an external app?

How do you hard reset

Hey guys, How to do your hard reset TC, so i can get back to how i got it when i bought it.. Thank you.
Have you lost the owners manual? It should tell you in that
More helpful...
This is how I hard reset my xda orbit 2 (polaris):
1) Get your stylus and place it in the hole next to the USB port, BUT DONT PUSH! Just get it ready but dont actually push the button inside the hole.
2)Place your fingers on the Windows and OK buttons
3)Press and hold the buttons, dont let go.
4)Stright away push the stylus into the hole and press the button inside. You can let go of the stylus once the button inside has been pushed
5)Keep holding onto the Windows and OK buttons
6)After 5 seconds let go of the Windows and OK buttons
7)If asked to press SEND, just press the green pickup call button.
Thats all!
Hi. First of all, sorry for my english. Second - is this necessary to pull out the SIM card and the memory card, when doing a hard reset ? And how to make (or with which software) a backup of my data before reseting - sms,mms, some pictures, docs ?
10x in advance
Great... now the included CDs are lost too... What are you people doing? Seriously!
User manual pages 230-231 for the Hard Reset
For backup, pages 144-146, and software included on the CD...
It's in the manual (you know... little black book which has "manual" printed on it) for Christ's sake...
10x, but...in the user manuals is nothing written about SIM card. The only action required for a memory card is to be pulled out, if is encrypted. What about if is not encrypted ? There`s not a word...
Included CD do not start, because of "...requires Adobe Flash Player version 8.0 or latter...", although I have version 9.0...till now - I fixed it just now . And installed Sprite Backup. So...the only question is about the SIM card ? Sorry for a stupid question, if the answer is simple, but no one said nothing about SIM card. It`s hard to say goodbay for 220 phone numbers....
I did a hard reset with my XDA ORBIT 2 about 30 minutes ago.. I left the SIM card and memory card in. No problems here, all works fine.
Concerning encryption on the memory card, you either need to (before you hard reset) backup all the files from your memory card to something else (e.g. a computer) or turn off encryption.
If you turn on encryption then the memory card will only be readable on the PDA you turned the encryption on to. If you hard reset that PDA then your PDA 'forgets' that memory card's encryption technique and the files will appear corrupt.
So basically as long as you use your memory card on the pda you turned encryption on ONLY and you don't hard reset the PDA, then its fine.
If you need to change the PDA or hard reset it, you will need to backup/turn off encryption on your memory card before doing so.
Don't worry about the SIM card's data... but if you want to be 100% sure, take it out before the HR...

BTW just for the record, XDA ORBIT 2's don't come with a hardcopy manual; instead it is saved on the CD that comes with it.
If you lose the CD, it can be accquired from the O2 website -

If you try to backup all your contacts to the SIM before the hard reset, I would take extra precaution; some SIM cards vary in size and if you try copying your contacts to it sometimes they do not all get saved. This happened to me and I only got about 11 contacts on my SIM. I recommed the program PIM Backup be used before the hard reset. If anyone likes I can provide a link to download it.

This is exactly the reason why I don't bother saving contacts to the SIM. All my contacts are synced whith several PCs.
Everything is fine, guys. Now must do some tweaks and registry optimization.
10x a lot for your help.
np.. but on a final note could I recommend SKtools - it has a section on optimising ur device.
also if you turn off the large start menu bar you will find the device is a lot faster - credit goes to te person that posted that

Hide SIM contact

Hi I have problem permanently hide SIM contact.
I used registry editor and made this chage:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone
"ShowSim"=dword:0
It works perfectly until I made soft reset. After soft reset went the value ShowSim back on 1 and I see the SIM contact again.
Am I doing something wrong ? I made many others changes in registry which are without change after soft reset.
Please help.
Many thanks

Radio 1.02.25.19
Change the value to 0,close properly regeditor(menu-exit) and softreset using some software utility or hold power key for power off. Don't use hardware reset button!
Hide SIM contacts with
You can hide contacts with Advanced Config It really works even after soft reset...
This is strange, bud I tested all and it comes allways back on "1" after soft reset.
Do I need to do some unlock to be able make changes in HKEY_CURRENT_USER ? Other modifications in registry was permanent...
Thanks

I'm lost, I've tried this just now and again they keep coming back I really don't know what else to do now
It MUST be performed like this (try to not ommit any step)
1.Change known registry value to 0
2.Install NikiSimFix patch
3.SHUT DOWN TP - don't perform Soft Reset - SHUT DOWN TP.
Now....it works

Offtopic and in Dutch:
hey iemand van de TouchPro Hyve
heey thnx 4 your reply...
No I didn't try that one because I don't want to erase everything on my sim...
Just a precaution....because if someday ( only god knows when ) my device crashes of whatever....I will loose all my contacts....and that's something i do not like...
@ offtopic in dutch:
hehe, jah leuk eh. Maar ik denk dat wel meerdere van hyves hier op t forumpje zitten hoor .
it does not erase your simcard haha! (that would be stupid) it just stops your device from constantly looking @ your simcard and make double contacts in your phonebook
(but it never hurts to make a backup just in case..... Don't you have your contacts sync. in outlook???)
no solution mentioned above working here either. nicksimfix wouldn't do it
For those who can't get this working, which ROM are you using? NikiSimFix worked fine for me on the stock ROM, but I've tried everything on DCS V13 and V14 ROMs and nothing works.
Interestingly if you make the registry change and you don't use TouchFlo 3D then this is fine, but as soon as TouchFlo starts the SIM contacts reappear. What I have found is that if you make the registry change after a soft reset the SIM contacts will remain hidden until the next soft reset (or until you manually restart TouchFlo).
I made a .reg file to do this quickly (below), but I would still rather find a permanent solution.

But also this fix didn't work 4 me...
Get a little bit tyred of it now....I just don't understand why I still can see all my contacts twice!
I will explain what I did...
I did the setting in AC, then I checked the setting in DT after that I checked the setting @Regiustry editor... So now knew 4 sure everything was off.
I runned my .cab and after that I turned my tp down.. no reset but just turned it down...
didn't work.. also didn't work witrh a soft reset...

Verizon TP2 program memory

I am having a problem with my program memory on my TP2.
After a soft reset I run my opera browser and sometimes it will pop up and say my program memory is low and to close something down. I have 40 MBs available. Is this not enough? If not where do I start cutting. I really want to show off my phone to everyone but don't want to look like an idiot with it locking up every 5 mins.
I suggest a hard reset (check the manual), because that amount of free RAM is not normal. Most users boot up with around 80-90 free. More available using the "Disable Push Internet" and ResProxy hacks, found elsewhere on this board.
My TP2 (VZW) runs great.. so great, in fact, that i launched google maps, found my location, and guided my group to one bar to another bar in nyc last night before 2 of my iPhone friends could.
Thats a testament, right there.
i got my verizon touch pro to boot up with 102 megs free, i usually stay within the 43-48% of memory usage
i got my verizon touch pro 2 to boot up with 102 megs free, i usually stay within the 43-48% of memory usage
My memory also stays between 42%-48%. I disabled the push internet and did the resproxy edit and it runs great. After using for a while it will get up to the mid 50% range. When it does that, I will use the cleanram program and it goes back down without resetting.
that's exactly what i use too, but overall mine never slows down or lags
thats weird i normally start up between 70 - 75% and all i am running is gyrator 2.
What is that cleanup prog you are talking about i don't want to do a hard reset if i don't have to and reinstall all my apps and regedits...
it is even giving me problems now... but even at 75% i have like 35mb free why would it be lagging?
Would a lot of emails in my inbox cause that?
better yet is there a app that will show me what is taking up my program memory?

do a search on this forum for DisablePushInternet and you'll find that cab that'll free up plenty of memory
I installed Dutty's disable push internet and reset 54% YaY!!
Thanks man I had originally thought this might of been a problem but since I had push internet turned off in my data settings I didn't think I needed to install a cab just for it. Maybe it was still holding memory from when I tried out push internet the first day I got my phone before I disabled it.
Thanks A lot I will monitor my phone today and see if I have anymore problems with it lagging.
ok It jumped back up to 70%
I tried to move my opera cache to my storage card to see if that would help
I soft reset
it started at 54%
I started opera went to this site page and then exited opera
and now it is 61%
I started opera again went to ESPN College football page where it froze for about 10 secs then resumed loading then exited
and now it is 65%
opened opera back running very sluggish now
click on another link exited
and now it is 67%
seems to be a pattern here
when I go back to Opera:config
user prefs the Cache Directory4 is back to default
changed it again this time to
\Storage Card\Program Files\opera9\cache\
(which someone recommended)
reset
started up at 54%
opened opera loaded XDA Forum page
exited
and now it is at 61%.................again
went BACK to opera config
cache file is STILL default
what am I doing wrong?
and am I even on the right path with the opera cache to correcting this problem?
Thanks for yalls help
PS: I just deleted my cache and it is still 64%.......
disable push internet
sorry if this is blatently obvious but i have looked all over this forum and i keep coming back to this same thread. does anyone have instructions on how do disable the push internet. i have found other forums for other phones but not sure if it will work for the TP2. im currently running CERegEditor to edit everything. also i keep following the instructions for turning off the "message sent" notification but again no luck. these are 2 of my biggest qualms with my phone right now. thanks for any help!

install this cab and do a soft reset to disable push internet
For the SMS notification
If you have a registry editor just here
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings SMSNoSentMsg = 0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\Default Options = 0
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings DisableSMSDeliveryReceipt = 0
You just change all the values to 0 and then do a soft reset
worked for me
worked like a charm! thanks!
install cleanram, or if you want to buy speedbooster they both help my tp2 to stay below 48% while having a lot of apps on my phone including emulators
Ok, I've been having a bit of the memory problem as well. Not running anything out of the ordinary - software wise - yet, but booting with the Push Internet Disable to 54%...
First opening Messaging, dropping to 57%... Other TF programs show no effect...
Open Opera - Drops to 63%... Exit Opera - Raises to 58%...
I think 75-80MB of open memory speak for itself here... Course, you really wanna make it scream, just disable Touchflo... lol
I installed clean ram and ran it
its at 62%
Why can't I get mine to 48%

Sprint TP2 is set up in such a way, that after disabling the push internet feature, only about 38% of memory is used after a soft reset. The memory usage never goes above ~ 50%, if you truly exit Opera (clicking x by default minimizes it, and it won't show in Task Manager; one only needs to choose Exit from Opera menu and/or hack the registry to make it truly exit).
There's something wrong with programs you installed. You need to check your running processes (there's a number of programs available, I use memmaid) after a soft reset. Mine doesn't go above 16 - and that's just stock minus Opera push stuff.
I did a hard reset
I reinstalled my programs to my storage card
Advanced Config
BerBible
Facebook
FreeCadie
GoogleMaps
Memmaid
NoniGPS
Skyfire
Slingplayer
Sprite Backup
XML Contact Backup
I am still running at about 70% but it does not seem to be lagging as bad
I ran memmaid and did a scan it only found 124kbs.
But it closed 1 program that was 23 MB
that took me down 4% to 66%

Go to memmaid, Jump To/Process/Running processes. Write down or take screenshots of everything in there. Post it here.
Someone here will be able to figure out what's eating your memory and how to fix it.
