I don't like my homescreens to autorotate but I do like it when I am using my keyboard in apps such as forums and texting.
Is there an app that will set autorotate to OFF on my homescreens and ON when using my keyboard? Or maybe where I could specify which apps I want to activate it on and have it work automatically?

i'd like to know as well
Not really any apps that I know of that can "detect" when you need the auto rotate function to work. But, I use Switch Pro with the auto rotate on my homescreen and I use Quick Settings, which works on any screen by using a long press on the search button. This calls up the app and I can activate auto rotate and quickly go back to the previous screen. Hope this helps.
Well, there is an app in the Market called "Auto-Rotate Status Bar Switch" that turns auto rotate on and off from your Notification Bar. It works fine and I use it, but I was just hoping for an app that automated the process.
There is another app called "Rotation Toggler" that is actually even better. You can just turn rotation on and off by long pressing the Search button and clicking their icon.
tasker.. you can set auto rotate to turn on when you open specific apps

A shortcut or widget that could connect to a specific bluetooth device when pressed
A rom/kernel/program that allows you to lower the brightness beyond what is normally considered" low" on the captivate....this thing is a nightmare at night

I looked for something like that once before, and came up empty handed.
I haven't specifically tried this yet with the program Tasker, but I believe it would be capable of creating what you're after. I'll give it a shot a little later, and let you know if it works. (Tasker isn't free, I'd hate to have you pay for it if I'm not sure about it working.)

quick settings lowers the brightness lower then what is possible through the OS.
Market -> search for "quick settings" - it has nice shortcut in the notification bar, but you can turn off the icon so it is only visible when you pull the shade down.

Or set it as the default function of a long press on the search capacitive button on the bottom. That's what I did, and it works great!
Hi I wad surprised by the number of widget switches that allow to enable / disable the auto rotate screen feature (there are plenty) ; but not a single one works properly on my galaxy tab. I mean when I enable with any of these Widgets the "auto rotate" setting it works fine, but when I disable it, it looses the current screen orientation and set a predetermined one.

I've searched everywhere for this one, maybe the API doesn't support it:
I hate auto rotate and I always have it set to off.
But when I'm typing, the landscape mode is very comfortable.
Is there an app that enabled auto-rotate ONLY for when the keyboard is displayed on screen?
I've seen other apps that control auto rotate (force/auto/off) per app - but the keyboard is not a standard app...
Thanks
I don't see why it wouldn't be possible... couldn't a system-wide app just run a check to determine the state of the soft keyboard?

One of my favourite Android functions is the quick swipe up from the home button to access google now/search.
It doesn't seem to work on the Mediapad x2. But as this phone has so many semi-hidden functions (home/back/... order; DPI settings; ....), I was wondering if I missed a setting somewhere to turn this on?
(and an other minor gripe, accessibility -> Services: Whatever you turn on, doesn't stay on. It gets turned off after x amount of time. Is there a way to keep them turned on?)
Cheers,

accessibility is turned off when the relevant app is closed. If you set app background protected, it will nto go off. But yes on boot you have to re-enable accessibility unless you use tasker or automate.
I have another stupid issue with Emui3.1
When I tap on a notification in the notification center, most apps don't open. The notification bar goes away and I stay on my homescreen. e.g. with Google Photos, Facebook, ...
Is that also a switch somewhere I have to turn off?
(Damn, I hate that phone manager)

What are the hidden functions for Home/Back..?
Not really a hidden function, but you can change their order.
Pinch the home screen inward to access hidden apps. Or you can make that your app drawer.

I have a new Note 20 Ultra and today while driving I was on a call and I tried to switch back to maps during the call and everytime map opened on screen (launching it either the task manager button or the shortcut I have on home screen) The phone app would immediately force its away back on the screen blocking the ability to view the map
I am using Nova launcher - not sure if related

Thanks. Should I have "keep calls in popup" toggled on ? Does the mini pop up have a speaker button?
