Latest Gmail app supposed to include cloud print?

Hello all,
I set up Cloud printing on my computer and it works fine. According to the article listed below, it states that the Gmail app as been updated to include the google cloud print option. I am able to navigate to gmail.com on the mobile browser and I have those printing options, but not in the gmail app ( made sure there wasn't any update in the market)... Am I missing something here?

Google unveiled Cloud Print in last year's Chrome Dev Channel build, and the search engine giant forges ahead again with today's release of Google Cloud Print for the Gmail mobile app for the iPhone and Android operating systems.

Seems that the CNET article is indeed misleading in that it IS NOT part of the app.
Maybe it's better this way.
The article also says:
from your smartphone simply by opening a file in the mobile browser and choosing "Print" from the drop-down menu in the updated app.

They got it half right anyway.
On the google blog page itself...
This feature will be rolling out today and tomorrow for English speaking users in the US and will work on most phones that support HTML5

Basically, you can print from any modern phone simply by logging in at gmail.com instead of using the gmail app.
They may update the app but for now I can tell you... IT WORKS!
Sweet beans!
The only "catch" seems to be that Google Chrome would have had to been open at least once after a reboot and the computer has to be running, of course.
Right now, with chrome running, cloud printing will work.
If I close chrome, it will still work - chrome will leave a small process/service running in the background so that it will print immediately without having the browser open.
So I decided to test it by rebooting and printing something from my superphone.
The phone sent the print job successfully, cool.
The computer is still booting up...
Windows loads and after everything is running, it still don't print - seems that chrome's print service/process doesn't get loaded on boot.
So I open up chrome and close it... and the email immediately printed out
I can add the chrome service thingie to windows startup anyway so it's an easy workaround to get it to print without having had to open chrome manually after a boot.
All in all, it's pretty neat.
Oh and thanks for posting about it... I knew nothing about this... heh
Thanks for the information! I don't think I will be using this feature, but I was curious how it actually worked.
Does anyone know if it's possible to 'share' this to someone else's account? I have a file server which has the printer connected to. There are 3 of us in the house on Android phones, but I'm the only one that can print from Gmail?
Looks like chrome will only setup a connection to 1 gmail account.
A workaround would be to change the email setting in chrome (disable cloud printing and then re-enable with a different email)
If you had 2 other computers running chrome and connected to the printer, that would work too.
If you go into chrome, cloud print, manage printers, hover to the right of the printer, there is a pull-down to share the printer. Enter their gmail address and you are all set.

[Q] Contacts force close when Facebook sync on.

I installed CM7.1.0 stable and it is great except for one thing. When Facebook app syncs contacts I can't open contact details. It force closes on me on every contact that has a Facebook. When I disable sync contacts in Facebook, no more force closes in contacts. I'm using T-Mobile G2X. I've tried fixing permissions, re installing Facebook App.
Anyone else run into similar issue? Any solutions?
FIXED!!! It was the Google+ app 2.0 (the one that leaked out last week)
Once I removed it, no more force close in contacts.
You're a saviour man. I was dying to find out what the problem was. Uninstalled G+ 2.0 and everything is fine now. Cheers!

stock browser won't let me delete gmail emails

I tried searching for this problem on Google, but the only solution I came across was either by browsing gmail in classic or desktop mode on stock browser. I can't seem to delete a gmail email in mobile version. when I press the trash icon to delete an email, the icon turns blue to indicate that it has been pressed, but then it doesnt reload the page or delete anything. it just hangs..
since I am a frequent gmail user, I use dolphin browser instead, which works fine, but I still want to know what's causing the problem with stock browser. btw I don't use gmail app. my issue here is accessing gmail on stock browser.
thanks in advance!
edit: I am on stock btw.
am I the only one with this glitch? plz help
I dont have that issue but then again i use k9 email app. When i have used gmail via a browser on the phone i use chrome and dont have a issue
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
The app is far easier, I've found.
Nonetheless, I tested the stock browser and it does not actually delete any gmail items that I select when in mobile browsing mode. Works fine in Opera, though. I use Opera because it acts more in line with my expectations from a UI standpoint and rewraps text on zoom.
So, it's a stock browser bug, I'd think.

alright. thanks for clearing that up. I can't believe how Google's android stock browser has such glitch with gmail, which is also Google.
this is practically the main reason why I'm using dolphin instead. hope it gets fixed eventually.

I think google doesn't want us to deleted emails. Have you ever tried deleting your
email from the gmail website after not doing it fora few months? OMG! ITS crazy. First you can only do it 10 at a time and there may have hundreds or more, and each 10 take several clicks it can take hundreds of clicks! But if that's not bad enough if you want to completely delete them you have to do it all over again to delete them from the history and again from the trash.
Any reason you choose to use the browser over the app?

Probelm: opening links within apps causes bad switch to Chrome

Running Nougat beta on Sprint.
Whenever I open a weblink within an app (such as reddit, Google Search/Now, Gmail) the link opens within the app, but as soon as it's done loading my phone switches to Chrome -- but does NOT open the link in Chrome.
To see the page I have to switch back to the original app.
This is driving me nuts.
Is there a fix for this? I tried clearing Chrome defaults, disabling/re-enabling Chrome, uninstalling Chrome updates. No dice.

Apps that work without any tinkering at all

What it says on the tin really, thought it would be useful to get a list going for those who want to use the P40 pro without the tinkering. I see there as 4 categories 1 - work completely, 2 - work but no notifications, 3 - Partially working, 4 - Does not work.
I'll go first, I have another P40 pro on order so mine are a few months out of date.
Works Fine
Whatsapp
Outlook
Nine Mail
Facebook
First Direct Banking
Works Fine but no notifications
Facebook/Messenger
Twitter
PayPal
Partially Working
Amazon photos
Chrome (works just cannot log in)
Does not work at all
Google Photos
Newton Mail
Maps
Gmail
For Maps, try vers. 10.49.3, then see if you receive update.
I used that version on Mate40 pro too, when 10.56.1 did not work, in the mean time I got updates; now I'm on 10.59.1 and it's working fine.
The only downside is it doesn't work with login.
Huawei Maps or Wayze works fine too. I used FLickr to backup photos as well as onedrive. Both work just fine. Gmail works no problems when set up via the outlook app. Facebook and messenger seem to be working fine too?

You get notifications ok?
Have been uisng for almost a week again now, 100% out of the box HMS only and here is what I have found:
Email
Outlook works with notifcations and also sync Google calendar/contacts too. Really do not like Outlkook though.
Blackberrey Hub inbox also seems to work perfectly too and also syncs Google contacts and calendar
Newton is my email app of choice and this does not work which is a shame
Other messaging
Whatsapp, totally works other than restoring a backup of course
SMS - Fine
Signal works
Telegram does not seem to but I do not really use it
Social Media
Facebook fine
Twitter. App works but notifications not, I do not really use notifucations on twitter anyway
Cloud Storage
Able to add and use just fine using File Commander
Dropbox totally works
Music
Tidal and Spotify both work completely fine
Unlike other droids, LDAC bluetooth works in 990kbps mode too and the setting also sticks
Other mentions
First Direct Banking app seems ok, Hive, TP Link Kasa, Amazon shopping, all my other shopping apps and also PayPal are fine albeit without notifications.
Camera is excellent but curiously if I tap to focus it seems to overexpose whereas if I just point and shoot it is fine. It is a shame that there are no 3rd party gallery apps that integrate with Google Photos like File Commander does for Drive.
3rd party launchers are a mess and crash frequently so are not really usable.
This is without any GMS tinkering or even MicroG. Despite this apparent success I am still finding the overall expereince a little clunky which is strange as other than Google Photos it covers everything I need, so there is a something intagible that does not sit right maybe?
