Greetings,
I am currently looking for a custom word list (for user dictionary) that I can import into my droid... After installing custom roms im constantly adding back common slang and abbreviations so my swype will recognize it... Does anyone have a custom word list that they would be able to send me so I can import into my droid?
Please let me know if you need more info...
I'm using "User Dictionary Manager (UDM) 3.1" to import the word list once u have it....

Does anyone know how to do this within the contacts? Personally I would like the option to look up contacts via first name etc.
Also, does anyone know how to sync with a Motorola V3?
Thanks in advance.
Crash.
Workaround
A workaround:
Open each contact in Outlook, and change the "Store as" value..
(Default is "Surname, firstname")
Then save contact and move along to the next one..
A pain in the a** if you have a lot of contacts..
There might be some tools out there though..
What about a solution WithOUT the outlook workAround?
you can save the persons whole name under one section. eg first name 'steve dibs' last name ......
just click the down facing triangle then enter the name in one of the sections.

ps i feel your pain
Or use a different PIM, most give you the sort option in there contact list
it's probably not what you want i know but i gave up with contacts list when i got this app from this site ,it is a fantastic little app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=11120
perhaps someone who is good with reg hacks might beable to help
i was told this would be an area to look in for changing the last name first name lay out of contacts in my Imate jam
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AddrBook
however i know extremely little about changing registy items.
set Display name in Contacts
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\contact\cproghook]
"FL"-> Set 0 if LastName then FirstName, 1 if FirstName then LastName
this was apparantly one for changing the display for another device
so i was kind of looking for something similar but it eludes me
any help would be most welcome by alot of people id reckon, me for sure anyway.
comments about switching contacts managers are unwelcome....i havent found another which i feel intergrates well.
thanks

excellent! not quite what i was after in terms of usage, but does the required function
"FileAsFL.arm.CAB v 1.0" is the cab to get it in the ver last post.
doesnt actually automatically change the way it displays the name, however it does let you change the way it is viewed after an entry has been made. so after you enter the name you need to select it and choose file as from the tools menu in contacts....or just "ctrl A" to select all then change the file as from tools menu.
very nice simple work around.
thanks

http://www.shubaroo.com a Norwegian site has made this little program http://www.shubaroo.com/Kontaktfiks_ppc_installer_v1.2.CAB
Install it and open the KontaktFiks from your program folder
Do as in the picture, and that will fiks all yor current contacts to "First Middle LastName"
@Bosjo
does that program make all new entries file correctly as well?
Speedn
No, only the ones that are in the Adress book.
Do you guys want me to make an english version of this program?

Same here
English version is available for download at www.shubaroo.com
The new version also gives you the opportunity to add the Company name to the File As field. It will then file the contacts as: "Firstname Middlename Lastname (Companyname)".
The new version will only run on WM 5.0 devices. Both Pocket PC's and SmartPhones.

Hi, There is any registry patch that allow only to change the display ?
leelouch (HTC P3600 - S300+)
I have the same frustration and created my own program to fix the contacts, even allowing for your own custom formats and using the Company Name field. I hope you find it helpful!

Hi,
Does anyone know in wich file does the touch input saves the new words?
I'm planing in adding a listo of portuguese words to have a portuguese dictionary.
Thanx
an idea
i don't know where they are saved as i normally turn it off asap, but i would recommend to save a bizarre assortment of letters as a 'word' that way you can just do a search for that word later and find the place to save your dictionary
Run this to add words from your device
\windows\eT9mywords.exe
Back this up before a new rom
\Windows\eT9Cdb.Cdb
\Windows\eT9Rudb.Rdb
\Windows\eT9AsDb.Adb

Hi all,
I made an application that I think you will find very useful.
User Dictionary Manager (UDM) allows you to edit/export/import/delete/clean the user dictionary words on your Android phone.
I think this will come in very handy for everybody who has to type alot of text in mails, SMSes, etc.
With the help of the User Dictionary Manager application you can export your defined words and import them on another phone - for example, sharing with friends and colleagues.
The homepage of the User Dictionary Manager (UDM) is http://udm.adrianvintu.com

For ROOTED phones: you need to make sure that you have the user_dictionary installed and available.

This is great, I've been looking a long time for something like this (Romanian Dic.). Too bad it doesn't work on HTC Sense phones. Maybe in the future. I will keep an eye on this one.
Thanks
hey,
this looks great!
but it's not working on ICS isn't it?

but i want to import into the "German" user dict.

The app should import the words into the current regional setting. So if you change your phone settings to German language and then import, it should work. Please let me know if that fixes your problem.

i'm using liquidsmooth 1.35 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555667), and the ROM doesn't provide other languages than english.
but i'm using german input language, and i can store words manually in there while typing in a textbox and add unknown word to the dictionary.
my idea was to use your app to import a german dictionary into my german user dictionary, since the german system dictionary seems to be empty on this ROM.
article
Hey buddy, I'm doing an article on your new UDM here. I emailed you, but never heard back. If you would like to answer a few questions, either pm me or email me at [email protected]. Thanks. Good work!
Swype compatibility?
Since Swype has its own user dictionary,i think it's not possible for now to import or export words from Swype dictionary, can you please make such thing possible in your next version, or some how contact Swype to make your app as an add on to their keyboard, thnx for the app
Swift keyboard
Does this work with swift keyboard? I don't know, pardon my ignorance, if it has it's own dictionary separate from the system keyboard.
Is this a dream? ThankS!
No updates since March 2010? Darn hope it doesn't get incompatibility errors in later android versions
Brilliant Idea!!!
thanks mate.
Will be back to report on how it works with stock JellyBean on my i9505
not working on samsung n7100 ... 4.3 ... if anyone have any idea on how to edit words in user dictionary n how to import text ... it will be great ... thanks
Hi everyone. I just bought the LG Optimus 3D phone. I noticed that in my sms settings that my user dictionary is empty. Is there a way I can download and install a wordlist or do I have to make a wordlist myself. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
the wordlist is something u generate yourself for example Cyanogen or HD2 would not be in the dic. so you just add it and it appears in user dic.
My motorola quench had words already in it when i got it. In my LG it is completely empty. So you are saying I have to add every word myself. There is no wordlist I can download and import to my dictionary.
is it not possible for someone to use UDM and make a user dictionary for other people to use UDM to import it into their phones?
Dear,
I can not use SpellCheck, is as if there had word none in dictionary Android, has as install a dictionary of words again?
Happens in two roms that tests here, wanted to continue with this rom, so I would know how to fix it if it has.
Thank you.
Add
I saw that there is an option to "add-on dictionary", does that help you?
