I already have Executive Assistant. I think the app in the image is something else.
I don't like EA cause it uses polling and not push (which hotmail finally supports).

It looks like the default email app icon with ADW Notifier and ADW Launcher. With ADW Launcher and Notifier it will put a number on the apps where you have notifications.

I think it's SMS Unread Count.

Gmail unread count. with a custom icon.

If you can load hotmail into the defaul email, ADW Notifier will put the unread count on the email icon.

It definately adw launcher and adw notifier

You sure about this?!

The icon is the stock icon for the Email program that comes with Froyo on my phone. You need a Hotmail Plus account, with POP mail, to use that program. I can't make the unread number appear on my phone, so I'm guessing that there is an add-on that will show the number, as others have said.

Looks like the stock email icon to me. But I'm more curious about what the icon/widget in the top left corner is. Show Previous what?

If you're talking about the written time, it' called "Tajm". Pretty cool little widget.

Left <--- ---> Right
Just as you seem to have forgotten

it is ADW Launcher w/ ADW notifier. Search in the market for these. It is not a widget, it is the standard email app on Froyo. ADW notifier tells you how many unread messages/notifications from each app, using the bubble in the corner.
That is why its also on the gmail, and messaging app.

LauncherPro comes with this by default, counts sms, mail, gmail and missing calls

Does it count email or just gmail??

It can do hotmail too without needing a plus account. I use the default email app to pop hotmail.
There is a thread somewhere for this, but in short u need to set up an exchange account with the server being m.hotmail.com

How do I get Dialer One to display my Facebook contacts?

I used the Facebook application, and they're all there in my Contacts app, but in Dialer One it only shows my Google contacts (and it doesn't even show their synced photos). I didn't see any option to show my social network contacts.
same issue.
Necrobump! But really, did anyone ever find an answer for this?
Have you tried going to Menu --> Display options in Dialer One and looking in the "Choose contacts to display" section? You'll have to have sync enabled in the Facebook app first, of course.
The problem is Facebook changed their app so only the stock dialer could show Facebook photos. The only work around that I know of is to install and run an app called photo unlocker. Its free in the market. You must be rooted to use it. Also its buggy so you might have to run it a few times but it works for me. Now any dialer app I install can use Facebook photos. Hope this helps.

I get photos in Dialer One just fine with the official Facebook app. The only issue is that they are low-res and look ugly on the incoming call screen.
Noxious, I see no such option. It's not a matter of photos. The contacts themselves don't show up.

You take your phone and you look it in the face and say " dialer one show me ya moves" then you toss your phone in front of you and swing your fist at it while yelling "FALCON PUNCH". Problem solved, phone now displays FB contacts.
The best solution for this is to use Go Contacts. It has an integrated themeable smart dialer and has way more options than Dialer One. The option you're looking for is included in Go Contacts.
Photo Unlocker does it. Root required, by the way.
Go Contacts doesn't seem to want to do fb contacts either =\
moreover: what I've noticed is, it's only SOME facebook contacts, and not others. There's one call I got from a guy... in the call log it shows as his number, but when i click on the blank contact picture on the left. it shows me his fb profile

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been meaning to say though, there are still some contacts on FB which Go contacts refuses to show =\
Use TouchPal... much better app IMO. All of my Facebook contacts show.

Is there a voice mail on screen notifier?

I can't seem to find it.
There's one in the top notification bar.
Call yourself and leave a voicemail and see where it pops-up.
Yes.
Is there a way to add a notifications Icon to the homescreen?
Google voice
Is the only method I have found in stock mode to provide iPhone style push voice mail notification. It takes it a step further though and also provides a transcription of the voice mail. I wouldn't depend upon the transcription though, especially if you have callers that have a foreign language accent . Still pretty cool though. I have the google voice widget on my home screen. Provides the voice mail notification(s), the last callers contact pic if a contact, and the first few words of the transcription. The widget is only 3x1 so doesn't take up a lot of room.
It looks like there's a "Voicemail Notifier" app on the Android Market, but it's not guaranteed to work with all phones or all networks.
I believe Tasker might let you pop up notifications or set alarms or whatever based on a voice mail. Check out this link for some examples.
Voice mail and missed call notification on the homescreen
In the third row is Google Voice Widget. In the bottom row 5th widget is missed call notification counter from Elixer. If no missed calls it is green. It replicates the HTC "Phone" icon (depress it and it acts like "Phone").

Just use what you need. BTW a word of warning, if you use Current Widget along w/ Elixer, it'll make the phone randomly reboot. I found this out the hard way.

Executive Assistant App normally $6.49 is free today at Amazon App store. It has one, along with centralized widget for other notifications if desired. IMO its better looking / not as cheesy as the green elixer one.

Email Apps

Looking for some help here regarding versions of email apps/clients.
I am currently using Embryo 6.1 which includes Email 4.0 (or at least that was it says in application management). The icon is a white envelope with a blue "@" symbol on it. It does work fine with exchange accounts. I just don't like how things are laid out as much.
Most other ROMs I have used so far have either included a version with "exchange" which I really don't know the version but I do know the icon is again a white envelope that is open with a yellow card coming out of it, the card has an "@" symbol on it. See the image below.

What version of email is this, I have always seen it referred to as "exchange email?" My googling has not been very productive to answer what version or even the name, only yielded some images with the icon above.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
I know this doesn't answer your question, but it may give you an alternate you prefer. I've used Touchdown for a year for my exchange account. I love it - it is very similar to having Outlook on your phone. 30 day trial. http://nitrodesk.com/

+1 for K9-Mail. It works, just works, does what it's supposed to do, all the time, every time. Push emails, poll, whatever it just works.

Why don't you just use the aosp mail? Imho really it's the best e-mail app and if you have an msn/hotmail/outlook account it beats their mail app to the ground (yuk).
It's easy to replace stock email with it. I would suggest you extract the version from CM7/9/10 zip depending on the version of your FW.

Is there a way to do this?

I was using BlackBerry 10.2 the other day and noticed a few things I liked and was wondering if there's a way to get them on the Nexus 5:
1. Ability to click on toast notifications (say of a text message) and respond on the spot without leaving the app you're in.. is it possible to do this on the Nexus 5 anyway?
2. Text message previews/calendar events on the lockscreen.. is it possible?
3. Split calendar to show calendar on top, schedule on the bottom (see pic below) - Any app that replicates this or option in Google Calendar?

1. The SMS app Textra let's you reply from anywhere without exiting the app you're in. I'm sure there are plenty of others that do as well, but Textra is what I'm using.
2. Yes. If you drag the lock screen left you'll move to another screen with a '+' sign on it. You can then add widgets there.
3. There's likely a ton of calendar apps for this but Jorte comes to mind as one that has a split view like that.

Thanks! How would you rate Tetra in terms of fluidity and responsiveness? Also, when a message pops up, is there a slight 2 second delay when loading the pop up after the message is received? I tried a similar app in the past and it bugged me that there was a delay when I saw the notification in the notification tray.
Textra has been pretty good so far through a week of use. No major lags, stutters or anything like that. SMS and MMS work fine. I'd say its as good as or better than the old stock messages app.

[APP][4.0+] Floating Mail - Email client with (Facebook) chatheads style notification

Floating Mail is a free email client with chat-heads style notifications.
Based on the popular K-9 Mail, Floating Mail is a free email client with chat-heads style notifications.
Get notified on new emails with beautiful chat head style floating notifications.
Floating mail allows you to read incoming mail while using other apps.
Just touch the floating bubble to open your incoming mail. You can freely move the bubble and toss it around the screen.
The floating bubble will display your contact's picture (if one is available).
Update: I'm getting a lot of good reactions, especially about the floating UI, and I must say that the credit for it goes to Tooleap. I created several floating apps with their SDK and I know they accept developers to their private beta on their site: www.tooleap.com
Here is their XDA thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727437

An interesting concept and implementation, though I am not big fan of green email icon though, I actually hate the icon (no offend)... I would probably recommend you to make it use email app's own icon to displayed (not sure how difficult this would be)
