Is there a voice mail on screen notifier? - HTC Inspire 4G

I can't seem to find it.

There's one in the top notification bar.
Call yourself and leave a voicemail and see where it pops-up.

Yes.
Is there a way to add a notifications Icon to the homescreen?

Google voice
Is the only method I have found in stock mode to provide iPhone style push voice mail notification. It takes it a step further though and also provides a transcription of the voice mail. I wouldn't depend upon the transcription though, especially if you have callers that have a foreign language accent . Still pretty cool though. I have the google voice widget on my home screen. Provides the voice mail notification(s), the last callers contact pic if a contact, and the first few words of the transcription. The widget is only 3x1 so doesn't take up a lot of room.

It looks like there's a "Voicemail Notifier" app on the Android Market, but it's not guaranteed to work with all phones or all networks.

I believe Tasker might let you pop up notifications or set alarms or whatever based on a voice mail. Check out this link for some examples.

Voice mail and missed call notification on the homescreen
In the third row is Google Voice Widget. In the bottom row 5th widget is missed call notification counter from Elixer. If no missed calls it is green. It replicates the HTC "Phone" icon (depress it and it acts like "Phone").

Where did you find the Elixer app. It's exactly what I need.

@ volumnus, it's in market.

I found the Elixer app on the market

Just use what you need. BTW a word of warning, if you use Current Widget along w/ Elixer, it'll make the phone randomly reboot. I found this out the hard way.

Executive Assistant App normally $6.49 is free today at Amazon App store. It has one, along with centralized widget for other notifications if desired. IMO its better looking / not as cheesy as the green elixer one.

Force dialer to default to favorites

Anyone know if there is a way to do this with stock app?
When i hit phone, it is annoying to always be on the dialer screen. Yes, I can speed dial a couple contacts, but I have a favorites list of 20 or so, and I would like to land there first.
Any ideas other then an alternate launcher? Would an alternate launcher even do this?
That was a nice feature of the iPhone. 99% of the time I am calling 1 of the people on my favorites list as well, this would be nice if it was possible.
I do not know if it is or not.
Would also appreciate this setting.
A work around that might be useful:
From your home screen find a screen that is fairly empty and long press like you are adding a widget. Select "Shortcuts" then select "Direct Dial" Choose someone from your contacts list. You now have a direct dial shortcut to that contact on your screen.

I actually did that. I even made my own icon that matched the Launcher Pro icons and added it to my dock. It direct dials my best friend.

Not a bad idea but not really a solution/work around for a shortcut to your top 10-20+ favorites.
I agree - not a good solution if you have many on a fav list. For a 2 or 3 I just use speed dial from the dialer.
Has anyone tried Dialer One?
(from the thread looking for an alternate dialer) I'm too new they don't trust me with linking to it.
Another possible alternative is to add a Folder Widget end select "Starred Contacts" from the list.

What app do you use to grab a screen shot?
Regarding Screen Cap:
If you are rooted there is a market app. Another way is to use the ddms.bat tool that is in the SDK - it launches the Dalvik Debug Monitor on your computer and this can do a screen cap (Menu - Device - Screen Cap)

no app when I took that. It was using the android sdk to do it. Guide on how to do it is found here: http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/07/21/how-to-take-screenshots-of-your-android-based-phone-from-windows/
Launcher Pro ( the paid version ) also has a favorites widget that will let you configure either full screen or 1x4.
Why not just use dialer one? You can do exactly this with dialer one + you can do so much more, like custom backgrounds and change all the text colors etc.
I just added the folder of starred contacts. Really nice, actually.

[Q] Can someone please tell me what app/widget this is?

I already have Executive Assistant. I think the app in the image is something else.
I don't like EA cause it uses polling and not push (which hotmail finally supports).
It looks like the default email app icon with ADW Notifier and ADW Launcher. With ADW Launcher and Notifier it will put a number on the apps where you have notifications.
I think it's SMS Unread Count.
Gmail unread count. with a custom icon.

If you can load hotmail into the defaul email, ADW Notifier will put the unread count on the email icon.

You sure about this?!
The icon is the stock icon for the Email program that comes with Froyo on my phone. You need a Hotmail Plus account, with POP mail, to use that program. I can't make the unread number appear on my phone, so I'm guessing that there is an add-on that will show the number, as others have said.
Looks like the stock email icon to me. But I'm more curious about what the icon/widget in the top left corner is. Show Previous what?
If you're talking about the written time, it' called "Tajm". Pretty cool little widget.

Left <--- ---> Right
Just as you seem to have forgotten
it is ADW Launcher w/ ADW notifier. Search in the market for these. It is not a widget, it is the standard email app on Froyo. ADW notifier tells you how many unread messages/notifications from each app, using the bubble in the corner.
That is why its also on the gmail, and messaging app.

Does it count email or just gmail??
It can do hotmail too without needing a plus account. I use the default email app to pop hotmail.
There is a thread somewhere for this, but in short u need to set up an exchange account with the server being m.hotmail.com

[APP] WhoIsIt Lite (Free)-Contact-Specific Ringtones (Gmail, SMS, MMS, GTalk, GVoice)

Hi All,
I just published WhoIsIt Lite to the Market. This is a free version of WhoIsIt which offers a subset of features found in the paid version.
WhoIsIt Lite will allow you to define contact-specific ringtones for phone calls, Gmail, SMS, MMS, GTalk, GVoice, and K-9. You can also configure WhoIsIt to provide spoken announcements for your notifications as well as define contact-specific vibrations for each of these notifications.
Please give it a try and post your feedback.
Thanks!
Andy

WOuld love to see - Ability to test the vibration on selection , like ringtones.
I will give a detailed review after testing the full app.
( Should be worth the purchase. )

Thanks for the feedback! If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Some of the other features that I'm considering are:
Group Notifications
Gmail Label Notifications
LED Color Control for Contacts
Alert for a word in subject for k9 and gmail wouldt be great!
I mean when there is a special word like fire or something in subject it should play a different alert sound for emails
Nice ;D i like it
I just downloaded this and after playing with it for a few minutes I think this is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. I love the fact that I can now set different ringtones for my notifications. I have alway thought it annoying that I had to have only one tone for all notifications. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
seems like an awesome app..will try it
will this override any settings from go sms?? i have custom led & sms ringtone from that but i would love just the individual caller feature
Could somebody provide details about CPU/RAM/Battery usage by this app ?
Thanks !
I still love this app. Thanks for the development.

Ok I found my first little glitch. I downloaded the pay version today. In the preferences I set default notification to silent and assigned a SMS tone and clicked the manage sms check box. Now when I get a text it plays the tone I assigned and some unknown tone I cant even find on my phone. I then went into settings and force stopped the program and rebooted but I am still having the same problem.
Any Ideas?
Everything is perfect about this app except for one thing: vibration selection.
Why can I not use the phone default vibration for anything except "Default Phone Vibration?" I am forced to use the -. vibration styles for my Google Talk preferences. Putting in ---- does not give me a long vibration, but instead, four distinct - vibrations.
Is it possible for you to update the app and allow for us to select "Phone Default" for all vibration settings? I would much prefer the default long continuous vibration offered by my phone.

Manage your LED notification light fast and easily. No more trying to guess which app or which person demands your attention with random colors.
Features:
Select color by app or by text. Your favorite contacts can have their own color no matter which app they use to contact you.
Handle missed called.
Fine tune blinking speed for each notification.
Lightweight, almost no memory and battery footprint.
This app makes use of Android's 4.3 Notification Listener and thus it must be enabled under Device Settings > Security > Notification Access. It cannot access the internet so your personal data is absolutely safe.
I did all the testing on a Nexus 4 but it should work on any device with a LED. Contact me if something goes wrong on another device.
Thanks for giving it a look!

I am using the notification toast text to determinate contact names (the text that briefly appears across your status bar when a notification is posted). I never tried multiple gmail accounts, if each account appears in the toast text you can use the 'Text & Contacts' feature to have different colors.
Otherwise it needs special treatment (with extra permissions), I could add this if there is demand.
I tried it on a Nexus 4 (no custom rom, no nothing. I have no apps that interfere with the notification LED), and it's not working correctly. I set Gmail to red and the led still lights up white.

I have fixed that, expect an update this weekend!
Any news on fixing issues surrounding Nexus 4 stock roms? I really want to use this app but it's just not working for me at the moment. Test notifs work fine, but when it actually comes down to real notifs they just don't work.

[APP][4.0+] Floating Mail - Email client with (Facebook) chatheads style notification

Floating Mail is a free email client with chat-heads style notifications.
Based on the popular K-9 Mail, Floating Mail is a free email client with chat-heads style notifications.
Get notified on new emails with beautiful chat head style floating notifications.
Floating mail allows you to read incoming mail while using other apps.
Just touch the floating bubble to open your incoming mail. You can freely move the bubble and toss it around the screen.
The floating bubble will display your contact's picture (if one is available).
Update: I'm getting a lot of good reactions, especially about the floating UI, and I must say that the credit for it goes to Tooleap. I created several floating apps with their SDK and I know they accept developers to their private beta on their site: www.tooleap.com

An interesting concept and implementation, though I am not big fan of green email icon though, I actually hate the icon (no offend)... I would probably recommend you to make it use email app's own icon to displayed (not sure how difficult this would be)
