the only videos i've seen of this thing are of it running the stock firmware. so if anyone could make a video demoing some things on the Gtablet running CM6.1 (like flash, games, etc) it would be fantastic.
This was a few posts down.

I have been thinking about doing a rom upgrade, mainly to free up space currently taken by the AT&T bloatware. However something has recently come to my attention.
People complain about video playback with the Tilt/Kaiser all the time but I have no such issues. I watch video on it all the time with no lag, freezes, poor quality, etc. I watch WMV's and AVI's and I use Windows Media Player as well as TCPMP, both programs work perfectly even with large file sizes. I also stream video from my home PC using ORB with no playback issues, same with youtube mobile.
I am worried if I upgrade my ROM I might be opening myself up to video issues other users seem to have. If I somehow got lucky and have a tilt without video playback issues, I dont want to mess it up. Would I be running that risk by upgrading to a new ROM (I was thinking about Duty's latest release).
No, you wouldn't be opening yourself up to any driver issues by upgrading. You already have the driver issue, you just don't know it. True the kaiser, in some instances can play videos just fine, but there is a huge potential for the device to be a whole lot faster than it currently is while playing videos, 3d rendering, and just overall user interface responsiveness. I'd recommend you jump in and try out a new rom. You will be glad you did. Make sure and do some reading until you are confident that you are doing it right. (install hardspl) After we get these drivers everyone is waiting on, our phones will be the fastest, baddest mofos on the market. I'm perfectly happy with my kaiser being driverless, but just imagine the possibilities when we get our hands on them drivers. Cheers! happy flashing!
I got my tilt the first day it came out and did not flash it until almost the beginning of this year. I'm so happy i did. If i was you i would take the risk. Duttys roms are awesome. and if you have any problems the new CorePlayer works great and you will notice an improvement on the video even though you dont think you have any problems already.
Hey guys -
I know this is posted to the wrong forum but since I've got less than 10 posts I can't post it to the serendipity thread in the dev forum.
Anyway, I recently flashed Serendipity 5.9; prior to that I had been running stock Eclair, non rooted.
This is the straight up 5.9 serendipity rom, I modified nothing.
Most excellent rom, but I'm experiencing a problem with the audio/video sync in camcorder. Any video I record has the sound lagging behind by a fraction of a second. Has anyone else seen this?
Would someone mind moving this into the serendipity thread?
-Justin
There was someone in IRC with a different handle from yours mentioning this problem, and I tried it out, and it's happening to me too.
Not a big deal for me, but definitely something to bring to the attention of the Serendipity devs.
Hey all -
So I looked at some of my old videos I recorded on the stock eclair rom. Turns out that those are slightly out of sync too. Guess I never noticed until I was looking at everything under the metaphorical microscope after flashing Serendipity.
Gotta say, Serendipity kicks ass. Mikey, donation coming your way next time I get paid!

I know, not another best rom thread. But I've been reading as many of these threads as I could and there still seems to be some disagreements among power users.
Right now, TnT lite vs Vegan 5.1. Am I missing something else here that is more stable?
I'm not sure there's THAT much difference in stability between these ROMs. Of course Vegan is heading toward a Gingerbread release which might be worth picking up soon.
A lot of it comes down to personal taste, as well as some particular things being a bit easier on one ROM or another.
I don't think you can go that wrong with either of them. That all said, I did vote for Vegan since "for me" it has worked best.
So someone actually picked the "idiot" option on the poll. Very classy. I will admit that the OP should not have even given the option to choose that since the "true idiots" will always show up and be true to their nature.
I enjoy Vegan 5.1 here.

To be fair, I was 1 of 2 who voted the idiot thing. Since I haven't got a g tab, not yet anyway. I'm still feeling the water before I decide to jump in. I am 70% sure I will get one. But once I get it, I want the most stable rom. You guys are nothing to me but guinea pigs.
Edit.
I'm the less techie between my boyfriend and I. I'm not going to be asking for his help at all, so I don't want to have to deal with apps crashing or infinite boot-up loops or such problems.
With vegan, do I still need to apply the fix for force closing?
Vegan has worked great for me with no additional "fixes". I use it to watch movies, surf the net, play games, and as an ereader. Probably 4 hours avg per day on it, and Vegan has given me no issues. I tried TnT lite as well, and while I saw no problems, I just preferred the feel of Vegan.
Vegan is a good Rom I used it for a while. I have been impressed with calkulins gtab rom. Very fast and nice tweaks.
I refuse to use Vegan simply because my serious disdain for Vegans in general. Petty? Sure. I don't care
So.. I use TnT Lite, and have for a while now. Quite stable, no major issues, the 5.0 upgrade was a bit of a pain but its been rock solid so far. Does everything I need it do. (To be fair, Vegan does too)
Though with the Gingerbread on Vegan soon, I may switch over to check it out..
May I ask what your disdain of vegan is about?
Ive run the gambit of roms on my gtab over the past two nights.
Vegan gingerbread + updated gb kernal rules them all.
And its experimental! This rom is headed in the right direction.

Based on these comments I recommend a ipad.
my g tab will get here tuesday, im in school and going to use it primarily to read textbooks on pdf and full screen jpeg scans of the books. it was either spend $400 this semester on books or get a gtab and magic wand scanner, figured id have more fun with the gtab than a book i wont have to buy books in future semesters plus i can use the internet for research and all that
so would you guys think the vegan gingerbread rom would be good enough for this, i know its still experimental. plus id like to be able to surf the net and view flash videos on a few different sites besides youtube.
There are a handful of little things holding back vegan GB but no show stoppers.
The gb keyboard has some issues (missing #s, no type ahead)
Market can be painful at times. There are a couple apps (like mvideoplayer pro) that I can't purchase and my apps comes up blank without a creative work around.
I believe the kernel is missing video hardware acceleration or there's something buggy with gfx/gl. Even with this issue it still scores a 2000 quadrant.
Latest version of Google maps FCs but 5.0.0 works fine.
For something that isn't even beta yet it is super nice and does an awesome job demonstrating the tablet capabilities of GB. Very tablet friendly.

Just saw this over at Engadget. The Adam UI update isn't all that big news, at least for those of us who only have gtabs and aren't running an Adam port, but they mention that Notion Ink is working on a build of Honeycomb, which I assume could be easily ported over to the gtab. In one of the source links to the Engadget post, they mention that the Honeycomb build should be out on the "27th of June with acceleration and more!"
I'm not sure whether they actually got the honeycomb source code from google or whether they're using the Adam honeycomb mod that roebeet used as a base for Bottle of Smoke, since they say this in an earlier post:
"While Google gets to choose who they support officially, there is little we can do. But when we get friends like Andy, Stephen, and rest (I think like you I also know them with their nicks: Reobeet, Rothnic, Dougie187, IntuitiveNipple, TwoSpirits, MyGuy, AlbertWertz (same as his name), josh4trunks, jerryaycock, gamepro, newbe5, RaYmAn, red_herringx, Covrus and blazingwolf) we can do much more than the Bilderberg Group!"
But I'm thinking if they're releasing an official version of Honeycomb, they must have gotten permission and the source code from google.
Very good news.
Edit.
I just saw the video in the blog you linked to. My gtab is 100 times more responsive than that. Using ginger OC to 1.2ghz.
Great new and i quote"
Also in the evening today, all can update to the new Eden 1.5 with more apps. We have kept our energies focused at Honeycomb rather than fixing everything on 2.3, but still those who want to test, can test the 2.3 variant on Wednesday!
As for a fixed date on Honeycomb, expect 27th of June with acceleration and more!
Warm Regards

Wow, yeah. Mine too and I don't even overclock. I just watched that video and it appears they still have quite a few bugs to workout. Not only was it not very responsive, it also crashed several times in the short video. And the guy kept saying how it was more stable than the previous version. However, as y2k-inc pointed out above, they did mention that they've been focusing on "Honeycomb rather than fixing everything on 2.3", so I'm still optimistic that we'll get something good out of this. Even if their release turns out to be crap, maybe roebeet and the Adam devs working on the HC port can salvage something from it to fix the few remaining things that don't work in their ROMs (flash, camera, etc.).

Our custom roms for the gtab appear to be 10 times more stable and workable than the adam. And we're suppose to be the cheap low end LOL!

So I thought that 3D was not possible running a CM based rom. I have not seen this mentioned in the forums but maybe it was hidden in one. Anywho, I just flashed the MokeeOS2.0 rom on my O3D. I was browsing youtube and I noticed that some videos still had the "3D" button next to them. I chose one and low and behold it played in 3D. Should I not be surprised by this? Should I have just kept my mouth shut because, duh, everyone knows about this? I know we can't use the 3D camera etc but I was under the impression ALL 3D functions were a no go.
It is known.
red faced
