If you know any winmo coders it would be easy to make a port, the api is open for developers and if someone could just code the app, he could make a fortune. The WP& version is made by a third party also.

A newbie with an XDA II looking for forums

Hey there. I've just bought myself an XDA II and I'm looking for forums and communities relating to the XDA II but more from a user's side than a developers side. Does anyone know of any good forums/communities relating to such things?
http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=181
Thanks for that. Perhaps you can help me with another question. As a former owner of an N-Gage, I knew quickly and easily that it was an S60 phone. But what is the XDA II? I saw from a site that there are several broad categories: S60, S80, S90, UIQ and 'others'.
So my question is... Is the XDA II one of these? Or is it simply a Windows Mobile 2003 handheld or something similar?
imho then thisite is not only developer related
imho then it's close to 50% user and 50 developer
unless you go into the forums like hacking it
and upgrading and such

I'd call it a Windows Mobile PDA Phone.
Not sure if that's entirely accurate.
Yeah, that's what I'm beginning to think. It's not 'symbian' but 'Windows Mobile' based.

By the way, xda-developers is not strictly a developers site. There's a lot of non-technical but beneficial discussion here.

Apps/Games/Threads link for Samsung Omnia 2

Good Day! I've just registered on this forum, and would appreciate any help if anyone can give me links to the threads where I can find apps/games for my Samsung Omnia 2...
I tried looking for my model here and unfortunately can't find it yet...
My phone's resolution is 480x800 and currently runs on Windows Mobile 6.1...
A good zip utility with password support would be a great help...
Thanks in advance!!!

we specialize in htc devices here so you wont find much if anything for the omnia, maybe you should look in the Windows Mobile software development section and Windows Mobile applications and games also check the threads from other wvga devices like the HD/HD2 as most of the software will be compatible with your samsung
Thanks a lot! I fell stupid for asking that question but I think there's no hurt in trying... Thanks again!
Ofcourse you should ask the admins here dont mind people with non HTC devices using the resorces of the site and if you ever have a problem with your omnia you could always ask in the off topic section here, im sure other omnia owners would be happy to help you
Thanks, I will definitely try that... Looking at the Leo thread as I'm writing this... Thanks a bunch again!

SYMBIAN Development

Dear developers!
Ill just hold it short.
My question to all is, is it possible to make a 'forum' for symbian?
Since symbian is open source and Symbian^3 and Symbian^4 is upcomming what also is fully open source we maybe need a place as this.
Ive got a Samsung i8910 HD (OMNIA HD) with running symbian s60v5. Its a great phone but the OS is not everything. There are some people with rom cooking etc. For example Hyperx, who is really good in this but he's like the only one who is good in this. He did also try to port android on our phone but without succes. Maybe there are some people here who can support us etc.
I know there is a forum where manny things are uploaded and in development like apps, mods, custom roms.. but it aint everything
Just let me know what you all think about it, a forum for Symbian.
Kind regards,
Ruubs
Already been asked before

Most likely that isn't gonna happen anytime soon, but I've tried to start a forum for symbian development, seems like an EPIC FAILURE

Try to promote your forum!
Not all people read these questions about symbian at here.
Add forum link and/or picture banner to your signature here at xda - like a have done it.
Every time when you post something it will be visible to all people.

[Q] Trying to contact someone involved with developing the xda app

I submitted this question originally through the contact email link but never got a reply.
I also belong to an archery forum owned by a buddy of mine and I am interested in finding out if the devs of the xda app would consider building a forum app for us. The xda app couldn't be set up any better as fas as I am concerned and would really like to have something similar for the archery forum. We would be willing to pay if the price is reasonable.
Thanks for any help that can be offered.
Try tapatalk instead. Same layout as xda (in fact, xda is based off Tapatalk), but supports tons of forums. It's a paid app, but you can access multiple forums. I'm not sure how to go about getting a forum added, but I would contact those devs. I believe you have to code the forum to work with Tapa, not the other way around.

[Completed] [Q] Symbian modding - remove exclusive hold of media hardware

Hi,
First time here. Heard about XDA over the years.
I have a Nokia N8. I haveSymDVR installed, so I use my phone as a dash cam.
Since the N8 has a FM transmitter, I'd also like to use it to play music via the FM transmitter whilst having SymDVR running (camera recording). Now at the moment it doesn't work because I believe when you record, the camera app get an exclusive lock on the 'media hardware'.
I was looking into modding the phone myself seeing that I didn't find any results of existing work of the above, however, the modding posts I've come across no longer has images in the posts.
Is there already a firmware/patch out there, is there a more appropriate crowd of people that I can ask on XDA?
Any help would be appreciated.
TL;DR: Want to be able to play music and record video at the same time on the Nokia N8 - running Symbian. Is there an existing project or modding group of people I can speak to about this?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Unfortunately XDA is all about the Android and Windows Phone platforms, but not Symbian, so there isn't really anything we can offer you. I'm sure there are dedicated Symbian modding sites out there that shouldn't be too hard to find.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply!
I thought XDA had a Symbian section a while back, but when I tried to search yesterday I couldn't find anything.
