hey all
so for some reason I can't get clockworkmod to install. I have the update.zip in my sdcard root but when I turn the device on holding power and volume up all I get is a message saying something about a key combo then the screen goes to a box with a red(i think) arrow and then the tab reboots. I rooted my tab and have market etc

I just got my g tab today and tried to install clockwork mod following the guide. device detected the recovery key and went into the install screen but immediately rebooted and now when i try to install it doesnt even detect the recovery key. the viewsonic splash screen comes up when i hold power and vol + buttons and then shuts off immediately, but if i try a normal powerup i get the stock UI. I know this is a stupid question but i am new to this so some help would be appreciated.
thanks
I bought a used gtab that was preinstalled with BOS. Since its pretty outdated and doesnt really support flash, I wanted to change ROM. Some suggested Froyo and I got the link to download Frankentab. It is zipped on my gtab in the download file. I also got ROM manager off Market which states that I have ClockworkMod recovery 4.0.1.5 When I go to do the steps to unzip and install Frankentab, my system reboots and goes right to BOS. When I manually do it and dont go through Rom manager, I shut down the gtab and hold the power and volume + button, I get the "recovery key detected" message and right underneath is a "Booting recovery kernal image" message. THe screen is the start up screen for ViewSonic and doesnt go anywhere. Just sits on that screen forever. When I hit the power button again and the above messages leave, the View Sonic screen comes up and goes right into BOS. But no new rom. PLEASE HELP. I am desperate. Been doing this for hours with no progress.
Hello guys, my TF300 has been rooted since it came out and i've only used AOKP rom and I have a fast boot app that I use to go into recovery mode or if need me I would just do the vol up and power.
Today I wanted to change my rom and I notice my fast boot wasn't going into recovery it just rebooted the tablet. so I tried the vol up and power and I just get a black screen, finally when I stop holding the buttons, it just reboots again.
I thought I lost root some how but so I opened some apps where I need root and they work and if I long press the power the built in recover that was there is no longer and when I turn it off and back on it still says "unlock" in the top left
the next thing I tried was I went into the playstore and download the goomanager and tried to download the TWRP 2 but it told me nothing is avail for my system.
As far as i know the only way To enter recovery is to restart or power on the tablet while holding down the vol down button then press the vol up when prompted. otherwise tablet will always fully restart.

Is there anyway to enter clockworkmod recovery without having to use EZ recovery app? I thought when I enter recover by holding the volume up, menu, and power it's suppose to automatically boot into clockwork? Or am I wrong? I went away from Android for a while and just got a Galaxy S3 and rooted it. Any help is great. Thanks!
No you are right. If clockwork is installed that's a way to get into it. The button combo. But the trick is...hold them for a second until the phone vibrates and you see like three or four blue words in a tiny font at the top of the screen. When you see them. Release the keys. If you keep holding them you go past recovery and into full boot.

Yes the blue text on the upper left of screen is when its safe to release vol up and home. Otherwise you can just hold them until you are in recovery. If neither works then something isnt right. You do not need an app to get into recovery.

Its the home button you want to hold, not menu. And you need to hold the button combo from a powered off state, or catch it right when you do a reboot.
Hello, I have a big problem with rebooting to recovery mode. I can reboot to recovery only with application. If I turn my phone off and then hold volume up + power, then I get black screen with only one yellow Chinese text on the very top left side and then after 1 minute it's get into Chinese recovery.. My question is: how to get into custom recovery without using applications like for example "Quick boot".
I need it, because I have to install ROM again, because I did a big mistake, when I deleted one file from the "system" folder. Now my phone boot without problem, but after that everything is lagging and all applications stop working, then it automatically reboot phone..
I can't flash firmware with SP Flash Tool, because of Windows drivers. My laptop does not recognize the phone. It says: "Unknown USB device".. That's why I need to get into custom recovery for installing ROM.
Thank you in advance for help.
This helped:
With the phone powered off
Hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button
When phone vibrates release power button only.
As the No Comman Screen release all buttons.
Press and hold the power button and tap the Volume Up button.
Release the buttons. You must get into recovery mode.
