Hello guys, my TF300 has been rooted since it came out and i've only used AOKP rom and I have a fast boot app that I use to go into recovery mode or if need me I would just do the vol up and power.
Today I wanted to change my rom and I notice my fast boot wasn't going into recovery it just rebooted the tablet. so I tried the vol up and power and I just get a black screen, finally when I stop holding the buttons, it just reboots again.
I thought I lost root some how but so I opened some apps where I need root and they work and if I long press the power the built in recover that was there is no longer and when I turn it off and back on it still says "unlock" in the top left
the next thing I tried was I went into the playstore and download the goomanager and tried to download the TWRP 2 but it told me nothing is avail for my system.
As far as i know the only way To enter recovery is to restart or power on the tablet while holding down the vol down button then press the vol up when prompted. otherwise tablet will always fully restart.

Here's the long and short of it. This phone is a pain in the ass to get into boot recovery. I can flash it with Odin like there's no tomorrow but when I put an update.zip into the root of the phone and then try to get the boot screen using power button and volum up and down at the same time, I can litterally hold them for 10 minutes and it just keeps flashing the AT&T Worldphone screen and will not go into recovery mode. It has but it is very random. My original Captivate would boot into recovery on demand, not this one. I flashed back to stock using Odin earlier today, then I ran Designgear's SRE V1.2.1a which is amazing, it took me 1 hr to get the phone into recovery mode. Now I have put Fightspot's battery indicator in an update.zip of it in the root of the phone and it won't boot into recovery.
I am a nooob and don't know how to open an ADB shell on my computer to get it into recovery. I don't know any ADB commands. Can anyone help? Is there another way to boot into recovery.
Thanks

Just throwing it out there. Are you holding all three buttons continually? Because once the ATT screen comes up, you only need to keep holding Vol up and Vol Down.
Turn phone off
Hold Vol up + Vol down + Power
ATT screen comes up
Release power, but keep holding Vol up + vol down
Yeah I did that. It just turned on once I let go of the power button. I used Terminal Emulator and got into boot screen. Worked great. Thanks for the suggestion, this phone has only one issue and that's the issue. As long as I can use Terminal Emulator I'm fine. I have managed to get it into recovery using the buttons 3 times. Weird.
You have to hold all three buttons until the att screen goes away. Then let go of the power button.

I know. It worked fine on my first Captivate, not this one.
just turn off the power and hold both vol buttons down while pluggin in the usb on to the phone and it will do the trick
plug the phone into your computer. Download the Android SDK
Then... command window -> browse to sdk/tools directory -> adb reboot recovery.
I'm new to Android and had my phone rooted everything seems good with the root but as soon as I go into rom manager and try to go into recovery mode I get the white HTC screen then starts to turn kinda brownish then black and will stay like that until phone is shut off. Please help I can't download any custom roms due to this I'm guessing. Thanks
Open Rom manager again. Press the option at the top to flash the recovery. After its done try to boot into recovery again.
Sent from Desire HD or Inspire 4G or whatever this thing is called via premium XDA app.
Ya I tried that already a few times and still does not work also changed the clockworkmod recoveries and nothing
Have you tried booting into recovery manually by holding volume down and pressing the power button? I find this way is more reliable that ROM manager.
Is there a trick to that I tried it my phone vibrates and get the power off option but no reboot to recovery thanks
Have you turned fastboot off? settings - applications - remove check from fastboot
Make sure fastboot is off, like the poster above me said. Turn your phone off. Hold the volume down and press the power button. You should then be able to scroll down and select recover.
All you guys are awesome the headache is gone it worked thanks very much
actually when i go into recovery i still get that htc screen that turns black and will frezze up
Did you use Bubby323's root method? That is what it sounds like. If you did, then read the FAQ. There is a fix for this graphical error.
I just rooted my One S using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008440. I flashed Clockworkmod touch recovery and installed the latest CM10 Nightly. I ended up installing the standard Clockworkmod recovery (non touch) through ROM manager once my phone was up and running. Everything on my phone was working great until I let my battery run all the way down to the point my phone shut off. I plugged my phone in and it automatically booted to recovery. I waited a little bit for the phone to charge and selected "reboot system now" from recovery. My phone did not boot and only goes to recovery. When it reboots, it briefly flashes a green stripe twice in the upper third of the screen prior to booting all the way but never shows the HTC screen or anything other than recovery. I tried reflashing the ROM in recovery, formatting every partition in recovery, entering fasboot using ADB, rebooting using ADB, and nothing seems to get my phone to do anything other than boot to recovery. I tried running the latest RUU and it fails (presumably because it can't enter fasboot). I tried pressing and holding volume+, -, and the power button at the same time, I tried holding just the volume down button while holding the power button, but no luck so far.
Is there a way to reflash the recovery from ADB while the phone is in recovery? Is there any other way I can force my phone into fastboot? Can I safely use the method in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990043 to "unbrick" my phone by entering commands via ADB shell while in recovery rather than in terminal emulator? Thanks in advance for all the collective XDA wisdom that I'm sure will help get my phone back up and running.
Hey I had the same problem about a week ago. Are you sure you used the latest the RUU file?

I'm using RUU_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_TMOUS_2.35.531.7_Radio_1.08ts.50.02.16_10.08e.50.04L_release_279577_signed.exe. I don't think it would matter which one I used though because it gives me an error that says it can't connect to the phone.
Try holding down the power button for 10 sec and then let go of the power and hold down the volume button. I had to do this a couple of times until I finally got into the bootloader

Amazing! That did the trick. Thanks a ton for that info. I knew it would be something simple.
I also had a similar problem. Seemed to occur only when I had the USB cable plugged into the phone. Once I removed it, I could then get into fastboot. Once I was in fastboot, I simply plugged the USB cable back in, and everything worked flawlessly.
All that crap you got wouldn't have happened if you use TWRP instead of CWM.
I haven't seen anything that quite fits my situation, I unlocked my tablet, and rooted it, and installed CWM. I then went to install CM nightly and upon reboot the tablet froze at the ASUS boot screen, I've tried rebooting by holding the power button down, holding the power and volume down button down, and power and volume up, with no luck. I've also tried letting the battery die and then booting back up with no luck. Could anyone provide any assistance?
Thanks.
Now when you say it froze, you mean you let it sit there for awhile right? You gotta give ROM's time to create a cache! Try using fastboot to boot into recovery and install stock just to make sure it works

Cwm has issues on this unit, I suggest twrp when you get to that point.
To recover your unit you have to be able to use adb, fastboot, or recovery.
Here is a link to help you get into position to use one of those.
Good Luck!
Note: If you get into the bootloader menu do not use WIPE DATA!
full stock, unrooted, GT-P5110
... connect to odin (3.12 PC)-> uncheck auto reboot -> install twrp -> PASS -> unplug cable from usb
but all I seem to be able to do is reboot into system.
I :-
hold power button for 1 sec, 2 secs, 3 sec.... trying to just turn it off (instead of reboot)
hold vol down + power button,
hold power button + tap volume down,
just hold vol down,
tap power button (does nothing), only long press restarts.
hold power button till screen goes black and then hold vol down + tap pwr button
hold power button till screen goes black and then hold vol down + hold pwr button
hold power button till screen goes black and then hold vol down on its own
search forum
pull hair out
type this
each time reinstalling twrp
any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
thanks
To reboot to recovery you need to hold volume UP + power.

well that's strange, as, on my device, from off:
Volume UP + power takes me to download mode... I have done this several times and it asks me to confirm by then pressing down.
AND, from off
Volume DOWN + power takes me to recovery.
and doing a search, via google and xda all agree with me.
.. but thanks
I never said I couldn't get into recovery... I cannot get from odin into recovery without it first rebooting and therefore wiping my flash.
edit: So I tried it anyway, and got back into download mode, which in a way is kinda good news as, my logic, if I can get back into download mode from a reboot then I should be able to get into recovery from a reboot.
Same same but slightly different

I am having the exact same problems and tried exactly the same things. I am just not able to install twrp because of this. ( I read that it overwrites the recovery with the stock one when you are not going straight into recovery mode after installation) I am stuck at the “Samsung Galaxy note 10.1” screen if try to go straight into recovery.
What is strange though is that with my device: VOLDown (towards the power button) + Power button takes me to download mode and the other combination supposedly to the recovery mode.
This is so frustrating. Done this so many times with other devices but this one just does not give up… I just want to get rid of all bloatware and other crap…..

I've given up, for now, tried every combination I could think... I have a sneaky feeling it must be rooted first. It is the only thing I haven't tried doing.
I am now trying to root it first

I am currently doing just that! Using the files from autoroot . chainfire . eu (can not post links yet haha) . I will let you know how it went!
UPDATE:
It worked! I rooted my device first. After that I flashed my recovery via the TWRP app. I also must say that my device is the GT-N8010 (p4notewifixx). I got confused of all the different models. Still I think it will work with your model aswell! Good luck!
