Hi guys,
Anyone to help? Just flashed HBOOT instead of boot and now desire (rooted, but not s-off) stays in fastboot mode.
Anyone knows what to do? how to resurrect it? Maybe fastboot update update.zip? But this is Orange branded one, i can't find any update.zip for this one...
Please soos
More to follow, it says boot image does not exist
JTAG? No other solution?
Hey,i know you from xperia
Anyways, there are multiple solutions. First of all, can you access the recovery? Power on while vol down, chose recovery. If this is clockworkmod, you are saved, just flash a rom - I recommend cyanogen nightly
If this doesn't work, try a ruu file and start over with root.
If this doesn't work, put a p99 zip file to your sdcard. Search function should explain details.
If you give more details on your problem, maybe we can help more
Edit: if you cannot access sdcard and usb not working, you messed up the misc mtd partition. This is called usb brick. Use forum search for usb brick, two clicks you got a tutorial how to un brick.
Swyped with HTC Desire. Excuse typos.
Hi yes, i made some experiments on HTC and made this stupid error..
So the phone boots into normal recovery (not sure but it says Fastboot) but no recovery options i can see as well as Cyanogen...
I can boot HBOOT, FASTBOOT only..
Downloading P99 file, should i also make an SDCard? Sorry, too dumb with HTCs
Yeah and thanks for participating!
Btw, tested with normal sdcard and P99 image in it, updates OK so far..
Wierd. when you goto hboot with vol down, you then can select fast boot as first menu topic and then recovery as second topic.
Since you got stock recovery, that doesn't help much. Get back to stock firmware with ruu or p99. Then.following order:
unrevoke for custom recovery and root.
Flash a custom rom via the recovery
Flash alpharev's hacked s-off hboot which gives you full write access to mtd and developer fast boot commands.
I bet xperia will be pretty similar expect s-off after several unnamed people modified the boot loader
Hope this helps..
Swyped with HTC Desire. Excuse typos.
SOLVED!
Thanks, was enough to put a P99 file with same HBOOT version.
Phone is alive and i have some ideas.
I asked the question in the xperia sub-forum.

Okay so I got my Desire S yesterday (woop!) and have decided to root it and install a custom ROM. So after researching I knew I needed to S-OFF, ROOT and then get my ROM on there.
I first stumbled into a locked bootloader so unlocked that with this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19187444&postcount=36). Then I moved onto S-OFF'ing the phone and found I had the awkward HBOOT 2.00.0002 version so was just following on from the previous tutorial. However, after getting it all setup, AndroidFlasher just hung when loading the recovery image. So bad news all round.
After another search I found a different S-OFF method and started to follow this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18122984#post18122984). I now cannot get into my recovery mode in the bootloader! It boots up, I select recovery and it restarts just to hang in the HTC white screen.
Any help guys?
Please say if you need more info about my device
Just to add that I can load the phone up normally and use it fully still. It's just the recovery that's hampering me...
Flash recovery through fastboot.

Bit harsh, but yeah wrong forum.
Thanks for the advice I will give that a try
Hi I have been trying to set up a custom ROM on my HTC sensation because it has the wrong carrier start-up and well.. because they looked pretty cool. I unlocked the bootloader using HTC's instructions found here:
(docs.insertcoin-roms.org/master/en-US/installation/)
I got a insertcoin rom zip and put on my sd card and tried to boot through 'recovery' like the instructions said and keep getting the error picture of the phone and a red triangle with exclamation mark. I searched the forum and people said to do S-off. So I went through revolutionary (revolutionary.io/) and managed to get it to S-off (I didn't realise it would override the unlock I did earlier - are there any issues with doing them both?). I then tried to boot through recovery again to put the ROM on but still get the same error message.
I have looked over the forums and no-one seems to have this kind of error that I could see. Maybe I am missing something? I'm thinking of reverting back to stock if it can't be fixed as I don't want to brick my phone (especially now that my warranty might be void)
Any help would be appreciated! I can provide more info where needed, thanks in advance
What does the bootloader say now - specifically locked, unlocked, revolutionary?
What's the hboot version?
Recovery is working but rom will not boot, right?
The bootloader said 'locked' by default when I got the phone. It then said 'unlocked' when I applied the htc unlock codes and currently it says 'revolutionary' after I did the s-off instructions. HBoot is 1.17.1111
Currently recovery doesn't work. Is there another way around to boot the rom (maybe an easy app or something?). Although there must be something wrong if I can't get into recovery?
I just tried pushing the up volume and power key and got to a new screen from the error screen. It does say 'E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command' at the bottom of the screen though.
Looks like I can access the commands:
'Reboot system now'
'Apply update from sdcard'
'Wipe data/factory reset'
'Wipe cache partition'
Hopefully this is what the user would normally get if they don't have the error screen (red triangle + exclamation mark)
You haven't installed recovery? You can't flash custom ROMS without it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
I do remember something during the revolutionary setup about asking for clockworkmod recovery and put no in the command bar. The youtube clip I was watching didn't say to worry about installing it.
Can I reboot revolutionary or am I best to manually set up clockworkmod recovery? I have seen a way to do it but would prefer to go through the command bar again if that's possible
u can download the recovery and place it on the sd card or push it throught cmd by fastboot usb mode then u can flash all roms u want
What sensation do you have? Xe or normal one.
If you have normal one update the Hboot version to 1.27 by clicking this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
After going there go to the thing that says this "Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU"
Then put it in the root of the SD card not in the downloads section or anywhere else. Then update your Recovery. After that you can rom now.
If you want to rom I highly recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
When you want to use this rom download the superwipe script first. then flash it
I followed the instructions sent by you guys and am now running ICS on my phone which is a huge difference from stock. I am running the latest insertcoin rom at the moment but might give the one you should be a try in the future. Thanks for the help and the speedy replies

I tried flashing a RUU, but that didn't work. I think the major problem is with the S being ON. Is there any way I can boot this device at all? It's kinda of a shame since it's basically in a good as new condition...

The installation gets stuck at "Rebooting into bootloader".
I don't know about the warranty, but I'll tell him to return it if all else fails.
Are you sure that the necessary drivers are installed on the PC?
does the ruu give any errors? Or is that what you said above
If you enter the boot loader can you perform a full data reset? Any errors?
Swyped from my DesireS
Boot into bootloader, switch to fastboot mode (select FASTBOOT with volume keys and press Power), connect USB, see that you have correct drivers and the phone is recognized, run the RUU. It'll work.
Hi SlashSpeed,
propably you got the same problem like me. No solution for me so far:

This is not possible without adb or recovery?!
So here's my findings so far.
I tried running RUU from fastboot mode. No errors, installation gets stuck at "Rebooting into bootloader". I waited for over 2 hours and nothing happened. My PC recognizes the bootloader as "Android Bootloader interface" and fastboot as "My htc" in device manager.
I also tried running PG88IMG.zip with no luck. It gets stuck at [2] BOOTLOADER - Updating and nothing happens, even after hours.
The only think I have left for now, is the goldcard method it seems. I'll try it with my HTC G1 and report back.
Edit: Actually, I have no idea how to perform the goldcard method...some help would be much appreciated.

Actually, I asked him about that a couple of days ago and apparently, the device is not in warranty anymore. So unless I can fix it somehow, it's dead for good..
You need to unlock the device and S-off it before flashing a Custom Rom.
First follow this thread:
[GUIDE] How to S-OFF your 1.47.x ROM with Revolutionary
Then follow this thread:
[Info] After Revolutionary: install Clockworkmod, root & more
Or install 4ext and install 4Ext Recovery with the install button.
After your done, flash your desired rom. I would recommend Endymion Rom
If you want a stock rom let me know.
Hope this helped you, if not report back.

Wait, do I need to do those steps that are quoted or just with the windows batch script?
I have to do the quoted steps a-g with my HTC Dream, so I presume I'll have to use that device for the adb as well?

Hi guys. I NEED HELP REALLY BAD
So I was trying to root my friends HTC sensation with the latest ICS, sense 3.6 OTA firmware, and the 1.27 HBOOT version. After a while I tried the juopunutbear s-off trick, and it worked. When I went into bootloader (the thing where you turn it off and on while holding volume down), it said:
"locked
s-off"
I tried flashing CWM but it didn't work.
So I read that I needed to downgrade the firmware.
I downloaded khor-ah's 1.17 Universal firmware onto my SD, opened bootloader, and immediately it asked me if I wanted to update, and I pressed yes. It updates, then says "finished, Press power to reboot" which I do and then it bootloops between a black screen and the HTC logo.
I need to hand it back to him tomorrow, please help me figure this out by then!
Try a full wipe in boot loader settings
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I can't.
As soon as I open bootloader, it automatically goes to the thing where it scans the SD and asks me if I want to update. Select yes, and it updates, reboots and does the whole thing again.
If I select No, it says operation canceled, press power to reboot. Then I go back to square 1. ADB also doesn't see it.
Take out the SD card, boot into boot loader mode, then pop sd card back in once in bootloader. Once you are in bootloader mode, try as suggested, doing a full wipe, or flashing the CWR/CWM
You're a godsent!
I removed the SD, put it into my Desire HD, and replaced the 1.17 firmware with new firmware from krah-oh or whatever his name is, and now it works! AND my bootloader is unlocked. I'll try and see if I can install custom recovery now!
THANKS a freakin' lot! You made my night!

Glad it worked. Only reason I knew to do that was because I was once in your position also.
Good luck!
The boot loop is because of the the firmware you flashed, it is not compatible with the ROM that is on the device right now (I bet it is a ICS ROM). You have to have 1.21.0000 or higher Hboot version to boot ICS. You need to go back to Khor-ah's thread and download the 3.32 firmware, get the universal one ifyour device is not a T-Mobile US (TMOUS) device, get the TMOUS if it is. Flash it and your ROM should boot then. Make sure to remove the PG58IMG.zip from your SD card or the bootloader will see it every time you you boot to bootlaoder.
Edit: Well looks like you got it fixed while I was typing lol.
Glad you got it all sorted...been in your position many times.

"SUPER URGENT".........you're a super noob, there are at least 3 sticky threads for noobs about flashing ics, why does no one read?!
Hi everyone,
About 2 days ago my phone crashed while I was using it and since then it won't boot up properly, all I see is the HTC logo followed by a black screen and back to the HTC logo, I think it's called a bootloop?
I can access the bootloader menu I think it's called (hold vol down + power button), I've tried recovery and factory reset, neither work, I went to the HTC dev website to unlock my bootloader menu and those options still do nothing
I'd like to add I've NEVER rooted my phone or added any custom firmware or anything like that, so I've no clue why my phone has done this, I've seen several similarly related threads but they've usually done something wrong while rooting their phone, nevertheless I've tried so many different things but nothing seems to work, I've tried to S-OFF using juopunutbear, I've tried flashing boot with various "boot.img", I've tried flashing recovery with "4EXTrecovery..." I've tried to flash with RUU, NOTHING works, I'm at the end of my tether and have pretty much given up, I've spent so many hours trying so many things :crying:
This is what it says on my bootloader screen...
*** UNLOCKED ***

Hi matekaneve, thank you for your response
I've come across that thread before, it doesn't work for me unfortunately :/
Despite the 4EXT recovery image successfully writing to my phone, each time I select recovery on the menu, my phone goes into bootloop again and the recovery menu doesn't load so I can't go any further than step 3 on the thread you posted
Has anyone run into this before?
That's weird... Have you tried re-download and reinstall the 4ext? Or have you tried another recovery like CWM for instance?
What about installing the RUU? Relock your your bootloader and install the right ruu?
