[Q] Headphones in and VC wont stop activating - General Questions and Answers

I feel like this would be a common problem but I haven't found any info here or on Google regarding my exactly issue.
It seems that whenever I have a pair of headphones in my HTC seems to recognize them as a bluetooth headset, and with no actual button on either of the headphones I've tried it just activates VC to listen to what I have to say non stop, as you can see, this creates a problem.
If the only solution is to get rid of voice command, I wouldn't mind, I have never ever used it after having the phone over six months.

HELP!!!!! GF's Mini stuck in headset mode!!!

Well, I wouldn't be in as deep of a trouble if this were my phone... But I suggested the Mini to my GF.
Anyway, she was using headset earlier today and after she removed the headset, the phone is stuck in headset mode. Meaning no voice coming thru the phone's earpiece on both incoming and outgoing calls. She tried the headset again and voice is coming thru headset without problem, but once removed, it's still stuck. How do I get the phone out of headset mode please???? Anyone has similar problem before??? Please help!!!

hey hi ,
There are many ways of fixing this -
1)softreset
2)turn bluetooth off! if you are talking about bluetooth headset
3)where it says enable bluetooth headset on today screen - disable it
These might help you!
Regards
AMD
The socket has probably jammed internally, try insert pull out a few times making sure you pull sharply when removing, if this fails try inserting something slightly smaller and jiggling it about. I have also used a tiny squirt of WD40 which is like an easing oil for rusted or obstinate nuts/bolts/screws, also you can buy a spray called switchgear which is used for electronic components such as volume sliders/switches etc when they become sticky and operate intermittently. This is a well known problem on the xda 2.
Thanks guys, it's not BT and this is after many soft-reset I'll give WD-40 a shot. Thanks again!
I've got exactly the same problem here. My phone is bonded to a BT headset. Forgot to bring the headset and found that no sound, or extremely small volume, was coming out from the phone. Tried soft reset, deleting the bond etc. none of it works.
Would be interested in knowing what's the real underlying cause if anyone finds it out.
Hey Solitary, I'm in HK as well and I think it's a hardward rather than software issue. Coz. if I pull the headset, the normal clicking sounds can be heard from the phone, just not during voice calls, I think the earphone on the phone is somehow dead, looks to me like cold soldering
I'm calling O2 in the morning and demand an exchange, my GF only had this phone since 1/9 and besides this, on the unit we have, the voice quailty is also bad too
Hi, CL55,
You might want to read this:
http://www.coolsmartphone.com/index.php?option=articles&task=viewarticle&artid=58&Itemid=3
It seems it is an old and common problem for smartphones.
I've also read in a Taiwan forum that they have got exactly the same problem in Taiwan for the Dopod818.
But I wonder if it is hardware related. My problem is that I'm stuck in a BT headset mode, and I'd never touched the hardware headset socket. So either I have a different problem than yours or else it seems it's more likely a software problem.
Anyway, do tell us if you manage to solve it.
Can you confirm if you can hear the clicking sound from the buildin speaker now? Only no voice from the earphone, or no clicking sound from the buildin speaker as well? I really suspect I have a different problem
Yes I can hear all other sounds from the speaker loud and clear, except for talking over the phone.
So it seems I've got a BT software (or my BT phone hardware) problem but you've got a Mini hardware problem.
I was listening to some music through my headphones on my jam and I got a call, so i pulled the headphones out of the jack. Once i did that no sound would come out of the speakers, not even after many soft resets. I could still hear sound when i put my headphones back in, but nothing when i took them out. Then i tried making a call and pulling the headphones out of the jack while in the call and that fixed it. It must put the hardware in some bad state if you pull headphones out when there's a call?
i had this problem to but i've fixed it! hard resets doesn't seem to work so i pulled the battery out for a night and my speaker was working again try it!

Bluetooth Handsfree Connected, but no sound

Hi if someone can help me it would be much appreciated. I just bought a Touch Pro and everything is working fine....except for one really annoying issue.
Whenever I connect my bluetooth to a headset, it shows connected but no sound is coming out. The sound is muted. when connected to my Audi, I see that the phone has bars (shows connected and I can dial the phone), but when I make a call no sound. Similarly on my SE HBH-DS970 headset. The A2DP works perfectly, but when I make a call nothing.....I've searched google and through XDA and no solution.
Can someone suggest a solution? I've soft/hard reset the device already. If I should change Radio ROM which one would someone suggest that's stable? Thanks
If no one else has this problem, can anyone at least suggest to me if this sounds like a Hardware or software issue? If hardware I will return it, but if software I will try to find a solution. Like I said the phone connects to BT, but I just can't get handsfree to work. File transfers and A2DP work. Thanks
Just flashed to UK ROM and still no help....I've read some people having the same problems over at the Diamond thread...I'm the only one answering my own thread here hahaha....if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi,
I occasionally had such an issue with my Parrot CK3100, but I did not get the time yet to investigate further. After the call was connected I did not hear anything, and I am not sure whether the other party could hear me.
On another day, the handsfree was working perfectly OK.
Cheers
Michael
Thanks for replying Michael....I'm at a loss and I tried all the suggestions posted. I hope it's a software issue...I'm going to buy a bluetooth headset tomorrow and see if that works. It's not the end of the world, but annoying since all my ppc, s60, BB, and UIQ phones prior to the TP have not had any such issues.
Do you think it's a software issue?
have you tried playing music?
Yes.....A2DP works perfectly....no problems whatsoever with file transfers either....I'm guessing either it's a software problem or the phone has a new bluetooth software that's not agreeing with my older SE headset, but the car is another issue. The Car is 2007 and I'm sure the Bluetooth software is not that old. I've tried Euro WWE and Asian WWE ROM and no go.....I'm going to try the Cingular ROM and see what happens.
Just another quick update....I tried 2 other different bluetooth headsets and still the same problem... for some reason the sound for handsfree will not come through...anyone know of registry hack possibly that will allow sound to come through?
May not be entirely related to your problem...
Mine is worst...whenever I have paired my Jabra or iTech BT headset, when the phone rings, 8/10 times the phone will auto pickup (and no I did not setup the phone to auto pickup) and the it will NOT connect to the bluetooth. Instead it will be just like an auto pickup and the sound will come thru the phone headset. This is driving me nuts!!!!

Jabr BT250v Bluetooth Troubles

I'm having trouble with my Jabra BT250v and my Fuze. The Jabra always worked perfectly with my Nokia phone so I don't believe it's a problem with the unit. The first oddity I noticed is that it paired automatically without asking for a code. After researching this I found out that the new Bluetooth driver does this by design with non secure items like headsets and such by trying a series of commonly used codes like "0000", "1234". That's all good and well, and it does seem to pair up, but I've read that other devices have trouble being bombarded with codes like that and even though it shows up as paired, it doesn't work. I'm not sure if this is the cause of my problem or not, but is the only obvious thing I could pick out.
I've tried putting the ear piece back into the charging cradle to reset it before trying to pair it. I've tried the standard pairing procedure by turning the device on by holding the power button for 8+ seconds until the light goes solid. I've tried the alternate method of holding both the power and volume up button to pair it in the handsfree mode. I've manually set it to handsfree mode once the device is listed on the phone. I'm really out of things to try to get this going.
Basically it pairs and all looks good but I don't get any sound out of the unit and trying to initiate a call or redial does nothing. The phone just keeps going as if it never paired up at all. I'm hoping someone has some more ideas I could try as I would really like to get this working. I wasn't sure if there was a way to just re-install the Bluetooth stack, or even an alternate Bluetooth driver I could try. If it does have something to do with the auto-pairing feature, does anyone know how to disable this? I'm willing to try damn near anything that can help me pinpoint the problem. I haven't been able to locate any Bluetooth troubleshooting tools and even looked at the service manual, but they just put it through a simple test and it doesn't delve into anything deeper.
Lastly I should mention that I am able to use Active Sync over Bluetooth with my laptop and it does ask for a pairing code so I'm really stumped. I guess it is a possibility that the Jabra is messing up since I last used it with my Nokia about 2 weeks ago, it just seems highly unlikely. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Eidolen

Bluetooth Issues

I am having multiple issues with Bluetooth on TouchPro2:
Issue # 1 with no solution
When trying to end calls using the end button of Jawbone Prime, it does not work, you must end call using the handset.
Issue # 2 (New)
When ending calls with any Bluetooth device (in my case built in Bluetooth in Nissan Altima) the calls will not terminate, have to press end button many time before calls ends
Are there any Bluetooth registry hacks that may solve either one of these issue?

I see the same issue. Sorry no solution.
I confirm same end issue ....although until reading above i didnt know it stemed outside of the plagued nissan vehicles with navigation.
I have a lot of confidence that this will be fixed sooner rather than later since it is now affecting everyday bt headsets vs. one isolated group of nissan / infinity vehciles.
For those who own this phone and a nissan / infinity. we will take this partial victory as it has been a long two years since the last known phone from htc that worked correctly with our cars was a mogul with WM5 / before that the apache.
Its nice to have a working touchpro 2 and nissan ...even if its not 110% with the disconnect issue.
I have an 08 Nissan with the Bose/Communications/convenience package, and my bluetooth worked fine with my i760, xv6800, and Touch Pro. But I experience the disconnect issue as well now with my TP2. Must be the new HTC drivers.
We'll standby for a patch. But I'm pretty sure even though the time keeps running on the radio, that the call still disconnects. In any case, it isn't right, and I doubt we'll see it when we get patched to 6.5.
FYI, from my research this is the widcom stack on the TP2. I thought i read that in the tmobile TP2 forum.
That would explain why it works because microsoft rarely fixes things on windows mobile.
If so it only more confirms ms at fault and not nissan.
The nav radio was always different than the non nav bose radio in the nissans. Different BT modules i believe.
That would explain why you didnt have the problems that so many others did.
I might be wrong on the widcom stack but I woudl think the tmobile and cdma variety are using same chipsets and drivers. for the BT radio
BMW bluetooth
Same issues on BMW bluetooth
Having simmular problems with an JVC BT1 specielly if i use AD2P at the same time.. phone can lag for like 10-20-30 sec someethimes even more....
Getting VERY tired of this!
several BT issues
I seem to be having the same issue as most of the post on this thread ...my headset, and my Infiniti will not end my call , but has anyone else had a problem just trying to get the bluetooth to open from comm manager or settings ? When I try to turn on Bluetooth through my comm manager it says cant turn on bluetooth , and when I try trough settings it says cannot start the Blutooth stack ???? If i do a soft reset BT will work but if i disabale and try to connect again im having the same issue ....some one help me out
TP2 sprint
have exact same issue with my parrot MK6100
have to press end call many time on the remote to end the call sucessfully
Me too, also using Parrot 6100
The bluetooth is a nightmare. I have a Pioneer AVIC-F90BT with v3 software and I can't even answer the phone when it rings. I even sent to phone to automatically answer after 1 ring and when BT is connected it just freezes the dialer. Then when I hang up a call the phone freezes for about 20 seconds. It sucks so bad.
verizon tp2, jawbone prime.
from prime: I can initiate voicecalling. I can answer a call. I just cannot end a call from the headset.
I think the blue tooth issues are due to the locking of the fm raido they reside on the same chip they talk about this on ppcgeeks
I have issues with my Ford Sync as well. If bluetooth is on and I want to use the Sync system I have to turn off bluetooth then turn it back on to get it to work. Quite annoying. I never had any issues with my XV6800 so it must be the bluetooth radio in the phone. Hopefully they come out with an update or when 6.5 is out it gets fixed.
WITHOUT DOUBT THE BLUETOOTH on the TP2. I have the same issue with Parrot 3200. It may be that different drivers would help.
Anyone been brave enough to try anything else?
Ditto here, but I'll take it a step farther:
I'm using a Jawbone Prime with my Verizon Touch Pro2 and it's not only unable to end calls from the headset, but it will disconnect the headset at random in the middle of calls. The only way I figure it out is to pick up the phone when I can't hear anything, only to find the "headset disconnected, place the handset to your ear" message.
Annoying.

Same setup and results here, and additionally the redial last number feature is spotty at best.
When HardSPL comes out, I'm going to offer a bounty for $50 for whoever can get the MS stack working correctly on our devices with all profiles. Anyone else in with me?

Seeing exact same random disconnect issue with my jawbone prime and my sprint touch pro 2. It happened twice today. One time I was speaking and didn't even realize it had happened for several minutes! Any fix for this?
I contacted HTC over this. The more people that complain about it to HTC, the quicker they will release a fix.

[Q] How do I get Google Voice recognition to work with bluetooth media audio enabled?

Hi,
I've got an interesting problem and was hoping someone here knows the solution.
I'm running CleanRom 5.6 on my Galaxy S3 I use the built in Android swyping keyboard, and it in turn uses Google Voice recognition. I like it because it shows what it is typing as I say it, versus Swype's delayed typing of voice recognized text.
Here is the problem. If my Jawbone bluetooth headset is set to media audio, then the Google Voice red button never turns red, and I can't use it. If I a) turn Bluetooth off then it works, or B) if I turn off media audio to Bluetooth while leaving call audio enabled, then the voice recognition works.
But all of this is a pain in the ass, and I'd really like to be able to use the Google voice recognition with Bluetooth and media audio left on.
So far the only kluge fix I have found is to hit the volume up or down key on the phone, which for some reason, instantly activates the magic red button. This is better than what some people suggest, turning on the Touch Sounds (which makes an annoying noise every time you touch the screen.)
Has anyone figured out a workaround for this problem? Please don't tell me to turn media audio off, as I use it a lot to listen to podcasts. Maybe there's a hacked version of the android keyboard that I could use. Or perhaps it is something in CleanRom, although I doubt it.
Believe it or not, I do a lot of writing on my phone and would really like to fix this problem. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for starting this thread, hopefully someone figures it out and responds, but your question has already been helpful to me:victory: I only use voice typing when I am in the car, with the phone connected to the bluetooth radio for media only, so I didnt even realize it only occurred in that situation, plus I intend to try your volume trick as well.:fingers-crossed: Previously, I had to start-cancel-start-cancel-start until it would work. Not exactly hands-free.
I also run Clean Rom, specifically CleanRom 6.0 R2. I also had it on my previous version of CleanRom, so it might be worthwhile to try a different rom flavor entirely, and see if the problem is still there. If anyone has this problem that is not on CleanRom, speak up!

Yup, I have the same issue. Plantronics BT earpiece with Media and Voice. Cleanrom 5.6 R2.
Volume rocker switch trick works, but, that really isn't a good alternative for car operation.
