Unfortunately not. Maybe you can get Copilot. But that one is expensive. Or you could ask if someone could get HTC Locations of the HTC Desire Z. I don't know if it will work on your device, but you could try it.
Good luck with it.

Is there anywhere this feature can be requested to Google?
Alot of linux distros (by comparision) have lists where you can suggest features.

Unfortunately it doesn't work for navigation, map mode only.
You can also try this taranfx.com/android-offline-google-maps. Saves all tiles to sdcard

Hi riahc3,
You may want to try and find "Maps (-)" app. Its on the market. It can cache the google maps for use when there is no intenet access..
I discovered it a few weeks ago and since then i dont have to use google maps any more.
Make sure that you have enough space on your memory card .. for me it took more then 300mb when i cached the areas i travel often.
Works wiith gps too

Not sure if that's what you need, but there are two apps I know about that allow for saving maps and using them online - Rmaps (I haven't used that much) and Locus.
I find Locus better, you can download the maps on the device, when you are connected to wifi and then use them offline, both of them can use maps downloaded through Mobile Atlas Creator.
Both of these programs support much more map providers than just google maps, such as OSM and some local providers.

i've installed googlemaps beta and is wonderful but to use this software as tomtom is too expansive (sownload map from internet). it's could be possible to go with offline map?
thx
As far as i know... no.
The google maps downloads the map data on the fly (as you scroll).
I have a 5GB data plan, so it's not a big problem for me
yes, on the fly.
in france, we have illimythic, it's an unlimited data so it's perfect for google maps, rss news, internet .... and it's only 6 euros more than a normal subscription.

You might wanna read up on this post for using google maps offline
search for a software named: Terracrosser.
Search google for a program called Google Navigator lets you download maps on phone you can select an area of a map and it will download that area with all zoom levels and views, its very good. Plus it has neat features like street view (before google maps had it) kml creation and other stuff.
Use the google navigator.

Which is now called Global Navigator... this program uses google maps info to feed and allows offline map support, you can also download a certain area of the map at a defined zoom level. its great!
There is a news regarding that it will be possible to use Google Maps offline.
I have heard this news two days ago. Is it possible now? Is it true?
If not, is there any way to do so?
Thanks by now...
I used to use TomTom maps on Winmo phones... but i dont think it's on Android yet?
So whats another good map/navigation app? It cant be like google maps where it relies on a net connection to download the map, it needs to have the map with the app itself like TomTom does. It takes up a load of space, but i've got a large SD card so not a problem.
I use copilot and sometimes motonav. Motonav is bit slower than copilot, both speedcams and full postcodes.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
yeah there are many navigation apps e.g.
copilot
navigon
ndrive
motonav
google navigation
sygic mobile maps
iGo my Way
I've tested a lot of them and my favorites are definitely Copilot, NDrive, Google.
If you've updated Google Maps via Market, you've received this blue arrow in
the app list. And the navigation with it works like charm. Also Copilot works great.
Much more features and options, but sometimes it shows me stupid ways to drive.
The very best I think is NDrive. Fast and beautiful app and the best navigation.
So if you don't want to pay, use Google. If you are willed to pay you should
try Copilot Live or NDrive 10
+1 for CoPilot
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I'm using NDrive. The maps are very complete even on remote locations. Well at least in Europe, I haven't tryed it anywhere else.
It works offline. My data connection is very costly here, I don't always get service and it drains the battery so offline was a must for me.
Google works nice except for the online thing. I haven't tryed copilot.
Thanks, i tried 3 of them... Copilot, Ndrive, and Sygic Mobile Maps...
Copilot i think is the best, the most complete and polished. Followed closely by Ndrive.
But i've not really tested them while driving yet so i'll have to see what one has the best routes...
For some reason copilot is not working properly one my phone. It's keep crashing, i am unable to download maps for uk. There are even some comments one android market regarding this application, some users say they got the same problem after last update. I will give ndrive a try, maybe itd will worki for uk.
http://www.alk.eu.com/images/copilot/laneindicator-sm.png <= does this view work for you on the x10? mine always looks very buggy (because of the big screen i guess)
Looking for Navigation application
hi guys,
For past few days I am looking for a navigation application which doesnt cost the data charges. I found one such application in Papago but not working in my Xperia X10 rooted mobile on version A.0.24.
Would appreciate if someone can help me installing a nice navigation app...
//Gaurav
You should try MOTONAV it has resolution 854x480 fits X10 perfectly, but its kind of hard to find maps for it.
EDIT:wrong post selection, sorry!

Copilot is a paid application. Is there any link from where I can download it free.
I'll probably be putting mango on my hd2 now that the rtm is out. I need offline gps cause I don't have data. on android I've always used copilot. so for WP7, I've found Garmin StreetPilot and Outdoor Navigation by GPS tuner. with garmin you can only download maps for each route, correct? are there any other options? which is the best? I'm in the US.
thanks.
You can download Navigon from this link and you will see on the pages were to get the maps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099662&page=62

You don't want Outdoor Navigation, which is more a tracker tool. GPSTuner have Turn-by-Turn, which is a true navigation app and also allows you to download maps.
navigon I think is currently the only gps offline solution for wp7
Turn by Turn from GPS Tuner will work with downloaded maps, but the navigation calculations still requires a data connection for the original route calculations, and for any on the fly recalculations should you miss a turn.
I have downloaded the maps for my local area (about 300km strip of the coast) and it works really well. Only issue is when I am out of mobile coverage area and miss a turn I am stuffed.

Hello.
I will be going on a vacation to Alberta, Canada. I would like a way to pre-cache ALL of Alberta, Canada in Google Maps, rather than thousands of tiles.
Yes, I know about MapDroyd, but it seems quite primitive. I would like to see a way to do this in Google Maps.

Alberta is almost as large as Texas (255,000 sq miles compared to 268,000 sq miles).
That's a big area to pre cache! If your planning a road trip, maybe pick the sections of the province you're visiting.
To the O.P. Should be possible, if there is a limit and you find it let us know!

you have this application Osmand (Open Street Maps Android) but you have a limation on a free version
Limitations of Osmand Free:
- number of map downloads
- no access to Wikipedia offline POIs
Offline Google Maps to work on 'all devices with Android 2.2 or higher,' 3D compatibility less clear.
We'd heard earlier that Google had "nothing to announce" in regard to Android compatibility with the newly-announced offline Maps support and 3D modeling, but look -- things change. We reached out to the company and urged 'em to dig a little deeper, only to have the following confirmed: "For offline Google Maps for Android, all devices with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and above will be supported." As for the 3D portion? "We'll have more details about device compatibility for 3D imagery on Google Earth for mobile at launch." After the event, we spotted a Googler using the 3D build on a Galaxy Nexus, so it's obvious that Android 4.0+ will be supported, but we have to assume that some of these older Froyo devices may simply lack the proper oomph needed to fly around the downtowns of [insert major metropolitan area here].

I also have Sygic but Google maps are going to be better than Sygic's cause its maps aren't the best around.
Nowadays you can download google maps tiles from several apps like Orux Maps, Locus, Maps- and several more. Then u can use the tiles in offline mode and navigate through them in airplane mode.
Even in current google maps app, in Labs section you can activate the option to cache a map zone in order to use the tiles in offline mode too.
Cheers... and let me say.... SUMMER IS COMIIIING
google maps with gps?
Does anyone know if the new google maps apk will support satellite gps location sources, or only online phone/google location sources? Sygic Aura has offline maps but no satellite gps capability.
In other words, will it be an full offline satellite gps map system?
we can use offline maps in current version only...
1. Open Google Maps
2. Go to Settings -> Labs
3. Click on Pre-cache map area to activate it.
4. Go to your desired place, tap and hold.
5. Tap on the area that appears and select Pre-cache map area. that's it..

That's limited to the 10mile radius from where you live or where you pre-cache the maps. This is a big limitation & that's why it is not called offline maps cause after all you need internet to pre-cache the maps.
In offline maps you could store the map of the whole city you live in.
In Nokia S60, I could store the map of my state or even the whole god damn India into my SD Card. Now you decide which one is better.
Try oruxmaps or locusmaps!!!! :good:
