If anybody here doesn't mind testing, could you check out the following thread and test the new z4mod app on your Epic? I only have an I9000, but the app (and lagfix) should work fine on the Epic as well. Let me know please!

currently testing it, running 2.1 on Baked Snacked 1.6 Ultimate kernal
is there anything I need to report back to you?
EDIT - once i rebooted it was stuck in a loop, guess baked snaked kernels don't play nice with this.
Going to try a 2.2 with this and report back.
Doesnt work with Extreme fuel oc kernel and Syndicate rom-stuck at Samsung logo, samsung logo keeps restarting.
Flashed the DK05 2.2 Rom, ran Z4mod, get error: zimage test failed when i try and patch the kernal.

this is a kernel that i compiled direct from toast's HTC-Supersonic-2.6.29 source. toast and netarchy all put in their fixes and enhancements so i take no credit but altering the kernel that netarchy posted in this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719763 thread.
this is based off his 3.7.1 kernel that enables around 55-57 fps on both epson and novatek screens. Like he said, it disables the HDMI so if you need that, don't use this. in fact, this kernel will have all the issues that netarchy's 3.6.2 might have, but the touchscreen does work and you should still get ~55 fps average on fps2d.
this means that the kernel also comes with overclock and undervolt, compcache modules, audio boost and everything.
the kernel that's included is only compatible with ClockworkMod recoveries, sorry for those who use Amon_RA! i can't seem to make a working boot.img, and koush's way of updating kernels also is a lot easier to use
i highly highly doubt this has the possibility to break your phone but if it somehow does, i don't take responsibility.
once again, all credit goes to netarchy, toast, and all other people who i may have missed.
if you're using this kernel and get around 40 or so frames per second, here's probably the best thing to do. go to setCPU into the Advanced tab, and set the Up threshold to a value between 65-75. I chose 65 and i consistently get 55-57 average with stdev of 4 or 5.
edit: i just compiled a new kernel straight from Netarchy's sources, as he says that he updates his to the latest at all times. so, the new version is 3.6.4, because that's what his is. remember, this is exactly the same as his kernel, except that i just modified something to make it work for Froyo ROMs.
enjoy!!
edit: wifi does work, i think it's just that for some people who are flashing it over a ROM it might not work. I re-flashed evolution v9 and wi-fi worked again
using amon ra 1.7.0.1 i got
E: Missing file:
system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko
E: verification failed
Installation aborted
this DOES NOT work.... but thanks for playing

yeah i doubt it works on amon ra, cause it's something made for clockworkmod. could you flash clockworkmod and then try this kernel, and tell me if it works?
btw, the bcm4329 appears because i found a kernel that i could use so i just replaced the zImage inside it. the original one was supposed to put the bcm4329 in /system/lib but i took it out cause it wasn't necessary.
will this work on the froyo sense rom?

could you please explain a bit more what's not working?
http://www.failhorn.com/
Wow... brutal guys.
look, guys.
i'm not trying to trick you guys. why don't you guys tell me what's wrong instead of telling me "fail" and giving me some stupid crap like failhorn.com
it works 100% fine on my phone, running EVOlaunchv9 froyo. so why don't you tell me what's not working and NOT be douches about it?
Douches.
Thanks for making this, man. I've been waiting for this kernel to support Froyo. Works great so far. Only thing is Wifi Tether isn't working, despite trying to reflash the fix from ffolkes thread. Might have something to do with clockwork recovery, though.

Can you not use that patch that is in the Nova FPS kernel thread for the 802.11 N and 4G. Just a thought, when I flashed to the kernel in that thread I lost my wireless too and then i flashed that patch and it started working again. I am new to this game, sounds logical to me lol.
Worked great on my phone, running Damage Control's newest. The only thing is that I had 5 points of touch with the kernel just for the novatek screen and 44fps. With this kernel I only had 3 points of touch and only 41fps. Still good work, dont let those other guys get you down. Thanks
Noticed this is based off 3.6.2
Maybe the wifi problem will go away if 3.6.3 is used instead. Looks like the audio boost patch was removed as it was causing problems with bluetooth, and no fluffy pink bunnies were harmed in the making of 3.6.3 so its peta approved
I had 5 touch points using Dotty on ffolkes kernel.. Only got two with this one.
Sent using the power of swype.
good god there are some real ******** on this board as of late !
op thx for the work when i flash a 2.2 ill give it a shot
Way to show this Guy support you tools!!!!!!!!
tried it running evolution v9. everything worked great except for wifi which was already stated. appreciate the work you've done. thx
when i get home from work i'll see if i can build the kernel again. it might be 3.6.3-based if netarchy and toast updated the kernel source on github, but otherwise we'll be stuck with this one till they do so.
sorry about the wifi guys, i spent a few hours and i could not get it to work. but if you flash the wifi/4g fix on ffolkes's kernel's page (the link is on the first post), you'll get wifi tether working at least

When you say it gets stuck, how long did you let it sit on that screen as it can take a long time to load the first time, like 5min or so
Right after it said voodoo lagfix enabled I waited a few Minutes nothing happens just shows firebird on screen.

Yeah you have to leave it for a while. Min took almost 5 min after it said lag fix enabled to finish booting up. Just let it sit there. It will boot up, just might take a little longer then your used to.
Ok Ill try again. Thanks for your help.
Left on firebird screen for 30 min never booted.

Ok that is really odd. Ok now to find the issue. Maybe a bad download? To be honest I didnt have any trouble at all with the flash, have even reflashed a few times tonight trouble shooting my own issues and trying to fix them. I would redownload it and start from a fresh stock set up.
ok will do
Ok flashed back to stock with odin. Downloaded again from different mirror. Same thing happened again. Im stuck.
Flashed back to stock again then serendipity 5.8 again which works. Im stumped.
I have installed SN successfully after flashing back to stock. I have had problems with enabling the lagfix after installing SN though. It will say lagfix enabled and then the screen goes black. I'm just running without voodoo right now.
2.05 should be out soon so maybe you can wait for that to see if that gives you any problems.

I will be putting out a Speed Mod and a FireBird kernel version. I hope this helps.
Speedmod version booted right up. Any idea why I couldn't use firebird version even though I flashed back to stock? Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure that it will... I used the speed mod version for your phoenix rom and could never get the lagfix there to enable without messing up the phone. I'll give it a try though.
Luckily for me your ROMS are so good that they don't necessarily need a lagfix. Thanks for all the hard work.

firebird worked fine with supernova for me (first boot took a while)
disabled lagfix and going to flash the updated supernova with speedmod for comparison.

To be honest man I dont know. I have seen it before though as me and a buddy got our phones the same day and for some bloody reason his doesnt like the the speedmod kernel at all but works wonderfully with the FB kernel. I am on the SM version now and works great. The work DG has done on the FB kernel is outstanding dont get me wrong but I personally have a better results with SM.
I can't run andromeada either. I just can't get my head around why identical phones can't run the same kernel. It doesn't make sense to me. I appreciate your time and thank you for your help.

Glad to be reading this. I flashed cog. 3.04 then FB kernel, all worked fine, then flashed SM kernel, no problems, all worked great on phone with SM until I tried to flash back to stock cog. kernel and modem for BT use. Cwm reboot into recovery would fail when tried from inside rom manager however it would reboot into recovery using the off button or vol/power button method. So I rebooted back to FB then got the red voodoo recovery letters, long story short, brick, oden back to stock...back to cog 3.04 and FB kernel, been flashing back and forth between stock cog. and FB kernel to use bt with no issues. Didn't want to try SM again until I read up to try and figure what went wrong Maybe nothing wrong, its just the temperament of each phone as to what it likes, interesting.
How do you like SN? I like the idea of having a phone where every thing just works. Probably will flash SN with FB since this phone I have already had issues with SM, thx for your input, it's enlightening.
I just bought a Mesmerize to use as a media device, rooted and installed CM7.2 which works great on my Captivate. On Mesmerize thought it's a nightmare of force closes, boot loops and SD card "failures". I wonder if there's a Gingerbread (hell, even Froyo) based build out there, that is well known be rock-stable? Any suggestions?
Update: after flashing various ROMs back and forth for a week I went back to stock, EC10 was the only thing that flashed on the first try and works flawlessly. Go figure...
Lotsa help on flashing and Odin(ing?) on XDA!

hi guys, i'm having lots of problems with faux's kernel both ultimate and mainline. everytime i flash the kernel or use a rom that includes the kernel (clean flash of course) i always get constant random reboots, system FC's, freezing that forces me to battery pull.... pretty much every error you can get besides a bootloop. this is really strange to me because i've ran the faux ultimate kernel when i was running GalaxyMod RLS11. i've tried everything i can think of to fix this, does anyone have any ideas on why i can't use this kernel anymore?

Like ^ said try other kernels, Imoseyon LeanKernel or Ktoonsez KT747 would be good substitutes to start with, you can compare them if needed I have no personal preference for these, as they are both reliable.
