is it possible to have folders on your homescreen like the iphone does? instead of having a plain boring folder icon, can we have an icon that shows all the icons inside of the folder?

I don't think it is possible yo
dam lol...that would be pretty cool in my opinion..as much as i hate the iphone, its a nifty feature on it
Folder Organizer can do just this and I liked it for awhile but ended up going back to the stock folders because I found it lagged a little. YMMV.
oh it can? **** let me try it out! thanks
I use folder organizer as well. It lags a bit but is still useful until something better comes along.

Hi guys,
I've been trying to find out how to do this without using an app like BetterCut or something like it.
I like the simplicity of the folders icons on my home screen, but I want to change the plain manila folders. Is there a way I can find some icons and push them to the phone. The last thing I want is another app to do this for me. I rooted my phone so I didn't have to use apps to customize. I know apps like Folder Organizer can do something similar, but this is not what I'm talking about. Every thread I've searched and read through doesn't seem to get it.
Any help or direction would be much appreciated.
Also, I'm running LauncherPro.
I would like to find out how to do this without an app. Does anyone have instructions on how to manually change icons and folder looks on home screen and in app drawer?

I use Apps Organizer. Doesn't do exactly what u want, but does provide u with the ability to select ur own icon. Perhaps look into Folder Organizer. Seems like I have seen a screenshot showing what u r describing. Both of these apps are available in the market.

yeah just got folder orginizer, does pretty good
Try with SIMI Folder its great
Go launcher has this feature in app drawer though, not sure if this feature is available in homescreen...
I like the IOS folder appearance, and I'm trying to find an app that looks something similar. The closest imitation I've seen of it is the folders in the App Drawer for Go Launcher, but I wish it to be on the home screen. Anyone know?

May not help but Miui has iOS folders, ofc, this means installing a whole new ROM.
Also, if I remember right, folder support is in fact officially supported by Android although I can't check as I run a Miui based ROM.
There are folders for android, but its just plain ugly.

What launcher is doing that? I don't necessarily want mini icons in my folders, but I kinda wish the folders in ADW weren't so ugly.
Any updates on this front? I'm looking for a way to organise folders on Android 2.3.4, and most importantly being able to rearrange icons within those folders from within the folder, iOS style. If they could look nice and slick (the default folder look is horrid, looks like a Windows 3.1 folder) then so much the better.
Have already looked at Folder Organizer and SiMi Folder Widget but don't think those are well-enough integrated into the OS.
With go launcher, if you create the folders on your app drawer I'm pretty sure if you long press the homescreen you can add the folders to your homescreen too,I'm using adw atm so can't check the exact way but I know you can.

The long press on the home screen is a standard feature for creating folder in Android, but unfortunately you can't rearrange the content on those folder as in iOS.
Alright just wondering if there is a way out there to organize the app drawer a bit.
So far, I have tried ADW launcher, and made custom catalogs, so 1 page for games, 1 page for settings and stuff, 1 page for media... and so on, but I would rather ditch the page setup for something more like folders.
Yeah, I understand that it could add extra clicks to getting to the apps, I think it would speed it it if I could view by function and not search through a full drawer.
Open the app drawer, and see folders called "games","Media","Settings"... and so on. Just kinda wondering if anyone has seen such an app or way to do it.
Hmm yeah I know what you mean. I usually use LauncherPro and tried ADW but none really have management within the drawer other than what you just said.
Go Launcher is your answer. It's almost like ADW has all the features that LP and ADW have, but you can actually create folders within the drawer, which is pretty neat.
You can add folders to your home screens then drag apps and such into them. You can rename the folder by opening it and pressing the word "folder."

yes, while this does work, I prefer to keep home screens open for widgets, and Icons in the app drawer. Thanks for the tip tho.
I've got Simi folder widget on my phone, and I'm happy with it, except for one issue. There's a noticeable delay from pressing the folder to it actually opening. I understand why it's doing this since it's loading all the app icons to display them, but is there a way of it caching them instead so it could just pop up the instant I press on the folder?
Does anyone know? Or can anyone suggest a better folder widget that doesn't have a delay in opening?
Get ics, the integrated folders are awesome. Much better than any widget

I'm using ics already. No folders though since I'm not using sense launcher.
