hi,
sorry for this lengthy message. But pls, experts look into this.
my father was having an Imate jama 201. 3 yrs ago, he kept inside since it did not work properly for him. That time i did not know what the problem was. Now i have caught hold of that.
The phone switches on properly. The welcome screen is seen. If there is no Sim card, it displays a msg. When i put a Sim card, it displays the operator name as well as the G- GPRS symbol. But when i click the start button or any key, it operates very very slowly.
In the navigation buttons i can only press the down button to go down a menu, but that too, by pressing the left key along with it. The right selection button( long rectangle near back button,) does not respond when i click it. But if the phone back light goes out, the phone responds back by coming back again to the home screen, on clicking that button.
I dont know whether this is a software or a hardware problem. The phone, very rarely is able to work without any sluggishness. I am able to view the preloaded gifs and images in the pictures menu and even go to camera mode.
I am able to receive calls and messages, but since the buttons don't respond properly, i am not able to answer them. The ring tone is loud enough to hear when i get a call.
I have no important data in it, so i am willing to flash it irrespective of any data loss, if required.
I am ready to answer any of your queries regarding this issue.
Thanks in Advance
You should try to make a hard-reset!
actually, most of the keys in it wont work properly. You just press randomly some keys in it, only a letter appears. i am able to go till the hard reset menu, but not able to enter the number: 1234

Is it possible to activate the loudspeaker on my Xda before choosing a telephone number?
Dial a number. Disconnect and tap onto the signal symbol in the title bar. Tap onto the disconnect telephone button and then immediately press the green button (accept telephone call) keeping it pressed until the note appears: The loudspeaker is activated.
The telephone then disconnects without establishing a connection. The information that the loudspeaker is activated remains.
Turn on the telephone. The loudspeaker is turned on instantly with each dialled number.
thats the info in their faq section but i dont understand???? what ive been trying to do is:
dial 4444....
hit the red button and then click the signal bar at the top of the screen
tap red button then hold green button down....
just doesnt do nothing :\ anyone know how to do this?
figured it out
right.......
phone loaded up as normal
dial any number and use the stylus to tap talk on the screen
then when connected use stylus to hit end on the screen
then quickly tap the signal bar and hit turn phone off or flight mode on
then quickly hold down the green BUTTON and speaker phone will turn itself on and the phone will turn off.
then just tap the signal bars again turn the phone part backon
there you go you now have h/f mode on all the time good for when driving
gaz
Yup, it works, a real convoluted way of doing things dont you think but something I have been trying to do for ages and finally gave up. Thanks
i wouldnt call it a propper way of doing it lol id call it more of a glitch in ppc lol but at least it works but you dont get no tones from keypad numbers if you turn them on and then so softreset they come abck on but h/s mode disapears......
but guess whats in my statup folder for some strange unknown reason a shortcut to handsfree.exe i click it it doesnt seem to do nothing but its just appeared in there for no reason.
ive searched windows directory and cannot see handsfree.exe so i linked to my pc to search found it i try copy it over from the ppc to my xp pc with show all files turned on but the icon just dissapears then i try copy it over again and it says do you want to overwrite this file so its on my pc but it just dont show up :\
it would be great if i could get this h/f thing into my startup lol so it comes on when turning the phone on

I can't believe O2 tells people to do this. Surely the effort of coding this small feature s less than the extra hassle of having your customers perform such 'dirty' workarounds.
There's some serious glitches in the support->coders communication pipeline for these devices, I tell you.
i totally agree
it would be nice if it done like......
when receiving a call and the screen pops up answer / reject
if it had aonother box option for like loudspeaker answer that would be cool
Maybe obtuse, but it works
On several occasions, I had fumbled fingered my PPC during a call and wound up with the H/S turned on semi-permanent. I never could figure out what I did. This is great info, but I agree, a nice little app would be a LOT better.
david
when u do this after turning the fone part back on hold the green button it goes off hold it again it comes back on if you tap the green button the telephone screen shows tis pretty cool but the device liek sounds low? till after the softreset
The other way round?
Having turned the XDA II off for a flight by powering down rather than putting on flight safe mode, all phone calls now are handsfree. How can I get it back to 'normal' mode?????
Driving me insane!!!
I held off from posting this, because I can't seem to find a reason why it's happening.
Basically, I'll get a phone call. I'm close to the phone, and have no problem answering it immediately. But maybe 3 out of 7-8 calls, I can't answer it. It'll just keep ringing until the calling party gets my voicemail. I hit the green phone button, the left menu button (for answer), even the word "answer" on the bottom of the touch screen itself. No matter what I do, the call will not pick up. Keep in mind, there is no Bluetooth involved. If I do happen to have a bluetooth earpiece on, I can hear the call ringing in the earpiece, but pressing the action button doesn't pick up the call like it should.
I'm at my wits end here. What could possibly be causing this?

Is your memory getting junky? I presume that the call application takes a lot of memory that it got full and had nothing left to take your response back Im not sure though. Do you ever get complaints like no signs of an Incomming call when people call you? I get it sometimes and still exploring to find a solution.

Carty..
The only 3rd party app I have installed is Opera Mobile. I only run it when I need it, and always use the "exit" option. I keep my phone as fresh as possible by killing unnecessary apps. The only things that stay open are my threaded message chat and Outlook.
As for your missed call (straight to voicemail), this happens to everyone not on 3g. For some reason, voice calls will not go through when there is net access. I don't know why this phone can't prioritize. My BB Pearl had no problem with that. If I was loading a webpage, it would simply pause the download and the phone would ring. Not sure, but maybe it has something to do with EDGE. I don't think the Treo 750 has EDGE capability...
The 750 definetly has EDGE, but it's usually CDMA phones with 1x that have the issue of not being able to take a phone call while transfferring data. It does sound like you could have another lemon 750 on your hands.

My experience wasn't as bad as yours. It just took a very long time between seeing the ringing icon and the time the phone actually rings, and then a long time between pressing the answer button and the time the call started.
I upgraded to WM6 and from the few calls I received since it appears the problem is now resolved and the 750 behaves like a normal phone.
Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem if you come up with a fix please let me know. the only thing I found that helps is to make your phone ring longer to give you a better shot at answering. here is a link to this fix

Is there a setting to silence the phone on an incoming call when the phone is locked? Pressing the volume up or down WON'T work with me.
Thanks in advance.
i just tried on my phone several times from different numbers and it works fine for me.. both buttons too
Were you using any program such as manic AutoKeylock? or you just held the end call button to lock it?
Maybe I need to reset it but I didn't install any programs.
just end button i did not think i needed a program to autolock my phone
silence
Hi,
when somebody calls me i would like to silence the ringtone and not hangup. (on sonyericsson you press the side key for volume)
pressing volume up or down doesn't work for me either. is there a place in settings where you have to enable this feature? (i sure couldn't find it )
I would like to confirm that a hard reset fixed the problem! Pressing volume down while phone is locked SHOULD silence the phone by default.
Could be some software glitch that messed it up in the first place.
Figured out the problem. It seems to me that when there is an active connection, i.e EDGE is connected and it is showing in the near the cell signal, you WON'T be able to silence it by pressing a volume down.
If you go to connection manager and disconnect Edge by pressing 6, then lock it and let somebody call you, you WILL be able to silence it!
I have tried the above three times to confirm it. Seems pretty messed up if you ask me!
If you know how to solve the problem, please let me know.
Anybody figured out the problem (Read above)? I will paypal you $20 if you can get this to work!
Really, why did they mess it up like that when my previous phone, SDA, worked!
When I wake the polaris up, it seems that the left button (the one in the wheel) is permanently pressed until I press another button. I have to do this in order to unlock the device, as the button is pressed I only get the message "Press cancel and then unlock".
This happens every time I wake up the device and sometimes when I am using it in other situations. It is almost unusable in this state.
I suppose it is a hardware problem. Any ideas for a way to fix it? I wouldn't like to send it to service, but I am fearing this is the only chance I have now. Any help would be appreciated. I have already switched it off, and also removed the battery for a while, but I have the same problem when I turn it on again.
This has happened to me for the first time yesterday. The device has not fallen to the ground any time since I have it (since February). I only carry it in my pocket.
Thanks for your help.
ah, I forgot to tell you. When the button stops being pressed (because I have pulsed another one) it doesn't work anymore. If a press it, no effect, the cursor doesn't move to the left...
I have read in another forum that someone who had a similar problem with the wheel managed to solve it by doing a hard reset and by restoring a backup done before the problem. He stated that using the option "erasing memory" didn't work and that he had to do the hard reset by doing "gps button + ie button + soft reset".
Here is the funny thing. I cannot do that kind of hardreset. Why? Because as the left button seems always pressed the confirmation screen in which you must press the send button to perform the hard reset, never appears. I guess it is due to the cruise which detects that the combination of buttons is no good or because the confirmation screen is shown but as the left button is pressed, you do not have enough time to press the send button (I don't even see the screen).
Is there anyway to perform the hard reset in another way? Thanks for your help...
Well, my cruise works fine now. What have I done? Nothing. Maybe it was a hardware problem in the contact of the button (some dirt or whatever) and now it is working. I don't know, although it wouldn't surprise me if it were software (I had a similar problem with the vibrator in a Mio A701, two days broken, got to work after that and never again failed). I just used the bluetooth and received a couple of calls.
Now I can hardreset. As the button is no longer permanently pressed, the combination of buttons works. Although I haven't pressed "send" to actually do it, since it seems fine.
More here if it fails again, but as I told you I read similar problems in the wheel in another forum...
Anyone have problems with the 4 hard keys on the front of the phone and the scroll wheel? Talking about the att fuze here. Randomly when using the text program it will scroll in and out without stopping. Only way to make it stop is to press the power button to turn the screen off then again to turn the screen back on. Also, when i press the bottom left key to bring up the dialer sometimes it will not and just do nothing. Just as in a phone call i press the bottom right hard key to hang up the call and sometimes it will not respond what so ever.
I know the keys work because when i press them they light up showing i pressed them but they have no effect. This happens about 50% of the time and not at all rom related. I have tried over 8 different roms including those with tf3d2 and wm6.5 and all have the same problem. I have even tried flashing to the stock att rom and even on that rom i am still having this problem. I have never dropped my phone or any physical damage. Any ideas? I have already called warranty exchange and have another fuze on its way to me. I am convinced it has to be hardware related some how since no rom will work 100% for me with these keys. I have had my phone since january and out of the blue this all started about 3 weeks ago.
Bump Bump Bump
I dont have that problem, but sometimes my keys dont work and I have to turn off the screen and turn it back on
sometimes I even have to soft-reset my phone
this is partially because the Left and Right directional button is roughly between the Home/pick up and Back/hang up keys respectively. you have to press more towards the corner otherwise it will register as a left or right press.
another situation is when it is running a bunch of processes in the background it forgets what keys are what and you just have to turn it off and turn it back on (the display) and it should work again. that or open a random program and exit out back into tf3d
goodluck
Actually, I have exactly the problem that you're reporting where the zoom in happens circurlarly, without any ceasing. It's driving me batty.
