im on win7 ultimate. and i installed the htc sync just now, and all i see is there a option to only sync with windows contacts....not with outlook.
its not letting me choose outlook for contacts or calendar. so when it did sync, it just imported the phone contacts to wab.exe, which is the windows contacts, some cheeseball stuff...
anyone have a fix for this to make the htc sync sync with outlook properly like it use to?

Hello,
ive just reinstalled windows vista and outlook 2007. imported my contacts ok into outlook. synced htc touch hd and established partnership seemingly ok. however, WMDC doesnt let me choose outlook contacts and calendar when i want to decide what data settings to sync? its as if WMDC doesnt think outlook is there!
anyone?
tried reinstalling etc. this was working perfectly before. i.e when managing what information to sync, there was a clear choice between windows contacts and outlook contacts etc
Hi,
Apologies if Im posting in the wrong section or asking something that's been answered before.
I'm new to the Android scene with an Orange San Francisco (ZTE Blade) and I want to sync contacts, calenders and notes stored in Outlook 2003 by connecting to my PC via USB. What tools are there out there that works like Active Sync?
Thanks.
Sync Outlook with Android
yes i was looking for that to...someone?
Thks
i think the best you can hope for is to export your contacts from outlook, and import them into your gmail account.
you can use google calender sync (search google) this will sync your outlook calender and gmail calender.
I'm not familiar with that phone, but it comes with 2.1 right? You can use the 'email' app to sync up with your exchange server. I don't think it will sync notes, but it can sync up contacts, email, and appointments.
You could also try touchdown from the market. http://www.appbrain.com/app/exchange-for-android-2-x/com.nitrodesk.droid20.nitroid
It costs $20 after the trial, but works really well and will sync up everything you're looking for.
Thanks for the replies so far.
I don't want to sync with gmail, as sometimes I work offline, therefore need sync directly with Outlook. Also don't use Exchange, this is standard alone Outlook.
I've read HTC have a similar tool (HTC Sync ?) for Active Sync. Will this work on a San Francisco, which runs Android 2.1?
You need to downoal the program MyPhoneExplorer and connect your phone to USB, then follow the instuctions. To my mind this is the best free soft avaliable out there.
The "On" buttons for syncing those two categories are greyed out.
I really would like to be able to sync my contacts to PC so I can edit them easier, since lots of duplicates show up in the Messaging contacts menu.
Any idea what I can do?
I have the exact same problem. Did you ever find a solution?
Have you downloaded and installed HTC Sync software on your PC.

I assume you aren't using a Google account for your contacts, the Sense contact database will use the HTC Sync software and want to hook into Outlook (or something else) on the PC. However, with a Google account, you can sync your contacts to the cloud and view them in GMail on the pc and edit there.
HTC Sync is installed on my home computer and at work. I'm trying to sync my phone with Outlook 2007. I'm not worried about my contacts so much as I would like to sync with my calendar in outlook, so any meetings I have on my computer at work, will show up on my phone.
I was able to use HTC Sync with the Inspire to load Contacts with no problem. I did not do the calendar, since I sync that with Goolge. Google contacts cannot deal with all the contact notes I have in Outlook.
Be sure to get the latest HTC Sync.

You have to run HTC sync as an administrator in Win7.

I can do that at home, but at work I have XP and it doesn't work there either.
After having the same problem with calender button being greyed out in HTC SYNC 3 i might have found another solution to fix this.
My HTC Sync 3 (and previous versions) used to sync everything i wanted but after a system restore to an earlier date 2 months ago it stopped syncing the calender items from outlook 2003. Yes i've only just noticed that it's not been syncing!!
1/ I tried going back to earlier versions of htc sync but that didn't work.
2/ I tried running HTC Sync as administrator but that didn't work.
3/ I installed a fresh copy of HTC Sync (all versions) with msconfig items modified and that didn't work.
4/ I removed all traces of HTC Sync and installed MyPhoneExplorer and that didn't work as well......that then led me to believe that the problem couldn't be with my HTC Sync.
5/ What fixed it for me was a detect and repair in MS office 2003 (through add and remove programs) and also i did a detect & repair in outlook 2003 itself as well. You might need the office install disc as it needed some cab files during the repair.
I then installed HTC Sync 3 ver 5511 again and the calender button is now back and selectable again....Hey presto.
I can only assume the windows restore featire to an earlier time might have thrown a spanner in the works.
Hi genius people of XDA world!
I use to sync my WM6.5 with Outlook 2007 through Active Sync and XP.
One day after a sync session, HTC Calendar stopped showing birthdays stored in HTC Contacts, and also Outlook 2007 Calendar has no track of them, but Contacts app still have retained all birthday informations.
How can i re-sync (Outlook and/or HTC) Calendar forcing it to track my Contacts birthdays?
I've googled and only found this link http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/commandlineswitches.htm and triedthe /cleanreminders option but did nothing...
Thank for help
I'm currently running the android calendar app, and am having a bear of a time getting the calendar to sync with my Outlook client.
For example, I've create an appt. on Outlook, and it successfully will sync to the Google Calendar, and move it over to my phone. When I create one from my phone, it does not sync up to my Outlook client. I've verified that I have two way sync on, yet nothing every makes it to Outlook.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
