So I got my chichitec battery's yesterday, I took the red sticker out, trimmed a lil bit and they fitted perfectly, well , anyhow I charged one of them overnight and now like an hour ago. I disconnected the phone, well I was looking at xda andthen all of the sudden the phone turned off and didn't turn back on... I tried the other chichitec and it worked.... any ideas of what could have happened?

Maybe just a defect in the battery. That's all I can think of.
Did the contacts come loose?

o well it was just plastic i trimmed just for the heck of it and they get in easily.
ah yeah i guess it was a defective battery oh well.. :/
Remember to put a piece of tape between the metal slot from the SD card and the battery so it doesn't short out

It's all over the battery thread. Take off red label, trim battery place tape between battery and METAL SD card compartment. I think the metal shorts out the battery.
on it, that might have been now is working perfectly again lol and this battery last ridiculously long
NOT between the battery door and battery.
Put a piece of tape OVER the SD card metal door, that's what's shorting it out.

A few days ago, I think I experienced the sd door shorting the battery. Though, I believed it happened because my phone, which was in my pocket, was pressed against the car seat (I was working on some stuff inside my car at the time), causing the battery to touch the door.
Before that, it had never happened before and still hasnt happened since. I may just put some tape over it.
If I put tape on the the sd slot would that increase battery time you think? One of my batteries seems to die out much faster than the other which I find weird. The phone has never turned off and restarted, but just doesn't seem to be lasting as long as the other.
I guess something else was shorting out, I put a layer of tape over all the baterry and now woks perfectly.

That's whats everyone was trying to tell you. You don't need that much tape, just enough to keep the battery from touching the door on the sdcard slot.
Well the tape just over the sd tray didn't work. It only worked once I put only one thin layer of tape on it.

does your battery door close properly with this battery? mine stays open just a hair and doesn't quite lock in place which causes the slightest bump to knock the door off(really annoying)

Hi guys!
Well after trying and trying I didn't find any solution about the random reboots. So I thought I go back to the begin.. So I used a RUU install was flawless, but after an hour or so my phone reboots again and 30 minutes ago too.
So please can anybody help me?

The first thing I'd check is the battery. Is it physically loose in the housing?
Doesn't have to be very loose. All it needs to do is break contact with the copper pins for a half a second and the device will shut off.
Here's the other question. When you say it reboots, do you mean it shuts down through the normal "Phone is now shutting down" process? Or does it like go instantly off and then reboots?
If it's instantly off and then reboots, the battery thing is the mostly likely problem.

I've removed my backcase and touched the battery and it shuts off (i have not a really reboot, it just shut off)
But wht can I do about it?

I've put a little piece of paper between the battery and the cover so the battery is pushed harder to the connectors.
It's looks and feels alot harder to get it out now. I hope this will work.

Glad I could help.
The lesson to be learned here is to always check the stupidest thing first, before you spend hours changing ROMs or looking for rogue apps.
You need to be sure you're fixing the looseness properly though. If the wiggle is side to side or up and down in the battery housing, the paper trick along side of the battery should work perfectly.
If it's wiggling forward as though it's trying to fall out of the housing, the paper trick works but you want to be careful not to pile 3-4 sheets thick of paper on top of the battery. That's just going to act as thermal insulation and will help the battery retain heat (not a good thing).
It won't catch the paper on fire. But it'll wear the battery out faster.
Instead you might try to put something that gives the battery more pressure against the back cover in a small area. Maybe try those little foam sticker circles that are on the bottom of things to keep them from scratching the table. (look under a lamp or something that like). They are thing pieces of felt that aren't real thick, but prevent a heavy metal object from sitting directly on a table.
A small one of those would stick right to the inside cover of the phone, put pressure on the battery, and not cover a large portion of the battery that would retain heat.

try cleaning the battery contacts and make sure the contacts in the phone are not bent.

You can try to change your battery, maybe this is the problem.
When I tap my screen quite hard my phone just shuts down. It also frequently happens when it's in my pocket, so I assume it has something to do with loose hardwarecomponents?

Yes. Well known problem. I had it on my DS last year.
Solution. Ask HTC to replace your battery. It did the trick for me. See my thread, search my threads I made.

well my phone got wet on the back with a case, then i took off the case it and the back which was all wet, the battery was wet to and so was under it, i took out the battery and dried every thing and it worked, everything did, the speakers and buttons. so later today the phone just shut off and wouldnt turn on. so i thought it died and i tried charging and just the light would flicker on the top left of the phone. so i put it in rice for about 5 hours and i put battery back on and now when i press the the power button. the screen just turns on like u can see light, just a black screen. then it goes away.
the battery has some green stuff on one of the gold things that conencts your batteries.
So i oredered another battery off of ebay, do you think that would fix it?

Sounds like the water fried something. Same thing happened when my 3yr old nephew wanted to ”wash” his DS. The first thing you should have done was remove the battery and store it in rice for 24 to 48hrs. Drying the phone from the outside doesn't remove the water that was sucked on the inside

yeah i would have done something right away but the phone worked right after.
have you tried to dry it with a dryer? sounds stupid but works!

Yeah the water will have short circuited something. Best to pull the battery straight away and not put it back in again until you are sure that the phone is completely dried.
There's limited damage water can do, if there's no power.
In answer to your question, I don't think that a new battery will help but if you've ordered it then there's no harm in trying The green stuff will be were the battery connector has sort of rusted.

My son took his phone swimming, got it dried out and actually works but kills the battery very quickly, will stay on as long as its on the charger. I have tried a new battery (I have many) and its not the battery. any suggestions not able to get a new one under warranty.
First things - turn phone off, remove from charger, take battery out. Leave in this condition to avoid further damage which may occur when you apply power to a wet phone.
Also, getting started on the drying process quickly is somewhat important (but not so important that you should rush to do anything without finding some instructions first).

thanks but have been thru the drying and no power scenerio...... was over a week and a half ago.. did the batt pull and store in rice......
Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes that's a lot harder question.
You apparenlty have a high battery drain.
You've ruled out battery by swapping.
I guess before trying anything drastic, you might try typical approach to see if there is an application drawing battery (for example power tutor). That's a longshot since it would be unrelated to the water, but would be a shame to get intrusive if it's not required.
Other than than I guess you can try to have it cleaned to remove some contamination that may be causing like high-resistance short circuit causing a battery drain. I have no experience or recommendations on who might be able to do that. If trying yourself you might try inspecting accessible areas and disassembly to gain more access to the extent you feel comfortable. Possibly clean with compressed clean air or q-tips soaked in alchohol.... targeted cleaning if you can see corrosion, or longshot just clean everything in sight.... but that increases the risk level of something that is already risky (easy to damage things poking around inside your phone). If it were my phone I'd definitely be looking for someone else to do it rather than trying myself.

Sadly.... It is probably something on the board of the phone. If it only works when it is on the charger that means that no power is going from the battery to the motherboard. Same problem with a 3gs. Although that turned out to be a curoded chip on the battery itself, there is probably a bad part on the motherboard. You will most likely have to take it apart and look for water damage. Like curoded spots, and clean them of by CAREFULLY scraping the white off with a TOOTHPICK or something else soft and non metallic. That's all I can say, I've fixed a good many water damaged devices. But they all had on board battery's and the same part always went. The little chip controlling charging on the battery.
If you get it apart look around where the battery prongs are. Either there or maybe around the processor.

Did the phone get powered on straight of water???
If so corrosion is a possibility more that likely the currenent arched and damaged the circuit .
Does the phone heat up when running off or on the charger ???
Again if so then phone motherboard. Was damaged and the power circuit is causing the drain and allows for it to function on the plug because it bypasses the damage.
Just my humble opinion....
My only suggestion is if our handy with electronic find another on eBay and switch out mother board.

Others have recommended this product for cleaning gunk out of the buttons on Samsung phones. It also works to remove corrosion on electrical contacts - plastic safe, no residue. Might be worth a shot if other avenues don't pan out (available on Amazon and elsewhere):

That is for the suggestion.. had the phone apart, cleaned all the contacts.... phone boots up nicely, but totally shuts down when allowed to sleep N needs to be rebooted to start again.. also still killing the battery within minutes.... gonna get another mother board from eBay... thanks again for all the suggestions

Does anyone else have battery contact issues? I have 2 Chinese ebay batteries, the Incredicell battery, Motorla standard and extended battery and i've had contact issues with all of them. Most of them have gotten to the point where the phone doesn't even see the battery. What i'll have to do is get a razor blade or something and pry all the little tabs on the battery in further so that they make contact. This works for a while...
Right now i've been using the motorola extended battery and ecently I've been catching the phone rebooting or just off. Just now I drove to Walgreens, left my phone on the charger and lightly tossed it in the arm rest real quick, I had 70% battery at that time. When I come back out the phone is off, i try to turn it back on, and it indicates battery at 5%. WTF
So now I've crammed tin foil into the battery contacts to get a tighter fit. I'm still pissed.
I cannot have a phone with an unreliable power source. I have really been enjoying the Atrix 2 problem free...except for this.
You managed to "fix" the contacts of a (very) cheap battery, thats good.
Why open a thread about it?
Having the to bend the tabs in on multiple batteries only to have the problem reoccur != fixed. And cramming foil into the battery tabs is not verified to be a permanent fix, or even a fix at this point...nor is it something I should have to even do. And btw I created the thread to see if anyone has any similar problems.

Just now out riding the trails on my mountain bike, i pull my atrix 2 out and it is off. I try turning it on but nothing happens. Then i bop it on my knee, the battery gets a connection again and then i can turn it on.
I wonder if it is a batch issue and i can find a tighter fitting battery.

Word. So here's what i did:
I lined the sides and end of the battery so that it fits tightly into its cradle since it could wiggle around before. I then crammed a little bit of masking tape behind 1 tab of each electrical connector to help keep the tabs pushed out. So far it's been working but will need more time to tell if it will work for the long term. If so i will be really happy as I really like this phone, especially with ICS on it now
